Only for fans of Wang Yi Bo and Jerry Yan

This drama is contexted is in e-sport teams and business: romance between a Gamer and a commentator. We witness the constitution and the progressive rise of a team during its multiple competitions.

The storyline is more realistic than Go go squid, more current,
+ I really like Wang Yi Bo :) but I don't really like the poker face of FL (Wang Zi Xuan) whose is really weak to show some emotions.

Moreover, THE STORY IS SUPER BADLY WRITTEN!!
- the FL is an idiot +++: a streamer who does a report in Vancouver, but doesn't speak English, doesn't know anything about e-sport, nor about the players to interview ??? Seriously ? She wants to become an esports commentator, but she's not a gamer, not smart, shy, can't argue,... Seriously?
- Many characters (from the 1st episode) are not believable: The team captain has tendonitis and there is no replacement? The character of the manager is cartoonish. Etc. The best friend is clever at solving some problems, supposedly a journalist, but her overprotective behavior and her advice are, 90% of the time, completely stupid...
Furthermore :
- the 2ary characters are less endearing (especially the Team) than in Go Go Squid.
- Many passages are "dramaland" with unrealistic coincidences or interventions.
- the 2nd comeback of the ex is an absolutely useless twist.
- the wicked are punished, but not too much,.... and they repent !! (Well yes, a flash of lightning falls on their heads, and suddenly, they understand everything they have done wrong :) :) :)

+ Apart from the ML, the only endearing character who is undergoing a good progression/development is Pei Xi.
+ The last episodes take a little rhythm (constitution of the Phoenix team, commitment of the team members, competitions) and become more interesting (Apart from the part concerning My Ra :( ).

==> This drama would not have lasted without Wang Yi Bo!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This series id say was a lot better than go go squid because from a person who doesnt play any rpg or online games, it was quite easier to relate. The way that the game mechanics was played through out the drama, one not need to know that its all abt teamwork, camaraderie & strategy which was one good moral of the story. Teamwork makes the team work. It was nice that although the series lack the amount of romance from a romantic drama, its good to see the growth & character development of the characters. Youll see how theyve developed into someone better in their personal & career lives. If u like watching skinships or Sweet moments, this is not for u as there is little to none. Although the ml & fl became sweethearts at episode 25 and were With each all throught out, they were more friends as lovers which i think would work in real life. Oh, they just kissed one time & it was when they sealed the Bf-Gf deal. So dont expect more. Also, this is ine series where you’ld question yourself if laws exists in their place as people can just defame & do others malice in workplace & can get away with a suspension & termination, not to mention a sexual assault & attempted rape. All in all, this one of those drama series that started off with lots of potential but was spoiled midway. The over drag & evil scheming was a recipe of high blood pressure & boring episodes. It would've been best if it stayed at 16-24 episodes. Like i always say, to each his own so do watch at your own risk

Starts off good but then becomes a waste of time

If you came to this drama because other gaming related rom coms like love o2o, you are my glory, or falling into your smile… DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!
.
This drama starts off with so much potential being
very cute & funny, with a sorta original story line. But sadly as the story progresses it turns into a big waste of time. I don’t want to give any spoilers away. But it becomes one stereotypical drama trope after another with a story line that seems insulting to watchers intelligence.
.
For example … the writers expect us to believe that after the female protagonist finds out the female antagonist setup a situation In order to get naked pics to blackmail the best Friend into tanking the protagonist career … that the female protagonist is not going to be extra carefully and weary around the antagonist? IT MAKES NO SENSE that this female lead wld continue to believe what comes out the villains mouth and would leave critical notebook lying around before her first ever broadcast.
.
The drama also lacks the satisfaction of seeing swoon worthy romance a towards the end. The couple had more romantic moments when they weren’t dating than when they actually got together, then they break up for really no reason but lack of communication only to reunite in the last 3 minutes with a hug.

I love romance, and at episode 22 Im still waiting for it.
I really hated the male lead and had to force myself to watch the first few episodes. The female lead was cute and innocent and so pitiful. I was yelling at my tablet over the awful treatment she was getting.
Don't get me started on that trash Manager! Grrr.
I'm really frustrated with the second leads so called romance. Yi Yi's violent (romantic) treatment of her love??? interest was over the top.
Qiu Ying is so obvious with her feelings in action and word. Kong is luke warm at best, he seems to become interested then calls her brother? When Mi Ya shows up, Kong rushes to see her. We are supposed to believe Ying and Kong are in love? The most romantic moments so far have been Yings fantasies. Nearly 3/4s of the way through and no proper relationships have developed. Is everything going to happen in the last episode? With a time skip?
It's too late to chuck it in, but it will take me weeks to finish and I'm waiting for subs on much better dramas!

Wow! Honestly, I was kind of reluctant to start this drama, but once I did, I just couldn't get enough!

Okay, so the story line is pretty simple. But yet, it develops amazingly. What could possibly go wrong when an aspiring e-sports commentator and and e-sports star meet....almost evrything. This definitely isn't that 'love at first sight' drama. The story leaves you in awe. It's addictive and you just can't control yourself to watch the next one. Ji Xiang Kong's character development from hate to love was shown just perfectly. And just when you seem eveyrhing is gonna be alright, some other villain pops up. You will never get bored if the story, I garantee that.

The actors have done a great job. Wang yibo as Ji Xiang Kong and Wang Zixuan as Qui Ying were just amazing. Their chemistry was fabulous. You just couldn't help but swoon at their cute moments. Although Xiang Kong doesn't realize his love for her till the end of the series, but still all the ones that they have were really good. The second couple was also amazing. Their fights and bickering would always make me smile.

I wouldnt say much of the music, but the rhythm of all the songs were very good.

This is one drama I wouldn't mind watching again again. You just get addicted to it.

All in all, I absolutely love this drama. You can watch it on drama cool, although I feel a few scenes are cut there, but it's still watchable there

Gank your heart is by no means a terrible show. In fact, I really enjoyed the first few episodes. However, this is a show about esports, and the majority of the show does indeed focus heavily on it. I personally found the plot a bit boring because I'm not really into esports. But if you really enjoy esports, drama, romance, and friendship then you'll probably really enjoy this show. I am technically dropping this show for the third time because I picked it back up a few times hoping I could click with it again, but it never really happened. I can definitely see myself picking this back up in the future because I do really want to see how it ends for the main couple, but for now, I will put this on drop/hold.

Did not know I'd like an e-sports drama

I did not know I would be interested in e-sports dramas until I watched this. I thought the drama was overall pretty good. However, the male and female lead could not catch a break. Just one obstacle after the other, it was tiring to watch. Because of this, there was not enough screen time for the main couple and it was very disappointing! I did like the fact that their goals changed as it progressed and they weren't stuck on achieving 1 thing. But again, a better balance was needed between this and the romance. For as smart as the male lead is, he makes some truly awful decisions in his personal life which led to me liking him even less by the end of the drama.

writing the review after watching this for 6th time

●FIRST IMPRESSION
GANK YOUR HEART, another drama that lets you comprehend that even if the entire world looks down on you, you can still accomplish your dreams.

●PLOT VIEW
The story is typical yet amazing, the black horse of the team rising to the top. I have watched other Esport Cdrama too and watched it for gaming reasons but here it's more of the story and team building, friendship, trust, and respect for the country.
Ji Xiang Kong fights every day along with his team to be a national champion but as always, misfortune kept chasing him. and only to make him realize that if he wants to achieve his dream he needs to take a different path and have assistance from his loved ones. simply saying when all the doors are closed, you just look around and you will find a new door.
On the other hand, I liked how Qiu Ying went through all the obstacles from a live streamer to a commentator. She dealt with each of her relations in a kind although hurt but she didn’t let the other person get hurt. The dynamics with her family and brother Xia Ling were wow.
The secondary couple Lu YiYi and Lin YiXuan were lovable with their squabble over insignificant things and their relationship developed greatly.

●ACTING/CAST
**Wang Yi Bo as Xiang Kong watched him first time. He was way mature in acting out his skills as a gamer and as a chocolate boy too. He sure is charming. I read that he is a professional racer and that's why the drama also had bike scenes, Yeah I could see his love for the bike in the drama. Those pieces were short but vivid.
** Wang Zi Xuan as Qiu Ying, strong, kind-hearted, and Independent. She doesn't give up in spite of getting so many hindrances throughout the drama. Her fashion style is amazing, shorts or dresses she looked fresh as a flower in everything she wore.
**Jerry Yan as Pei Xi was silent yet nice. He looked attractive and gave a perfectly imperfect vibe.

●MUSIC
About the OST, "The Most Burning Adventure" sung by Wang YiBo was very catchy and instantly makes me dance. after the drama I watched its MV he surely did a fantastic job. his moves and voice are just amazing. I RECOMMEND THE MV OF THE BURNING ADVENTURE
“Outside the sky” is yet another soulful ost that I like from this album. Others are also good but this two won my heart.

●REWATCH
Already re-watched it for 6th time and it still gives tickles just as the first time as I forgot the story and wanted to have some pill of Wang Yi Bo.

●FAV SCENE
Decisive championship game sequence. This scene is the most gratifying one of all the ESports dramas I had watched until now.

●APPRECIATION
The romance, gaming sequence, and character evolution were on spot which sometimes made me feel like am watching the game sitting in a live arena.

●RECOMMENDATION
Watch this if you like fuzzy yet thought-provoking drama. more friendship than romance.

●AFTERTHOUGHT
Sometimes when you are with your loved ones, you may feel lonely but once you realize you can see they have always been motivating you.

This drama definitely grew on me, but I almost dropped it because of the FL at the start.

At first the FL really annoyed me, especially in the first episode. She was so bloody unprepared and ignorant, she seemed like she didn't even care for gaming at all but still wanted to be a commentator. I wanted to drop the drama altogether but I actually liked the ML throughout. Her character does grow. She becomes less ignorant and actually starts to do really well in her field because she starts gaming herself in order to understand it. What I loved most about her was that she didn't want to be part of any drama and ran away from it whenever she had the chance and I couldn't blame her.

I sort of started this drama for Wang Yibo, but mostly because I wanted to watch another drama like "Falling For Your Smile". This drama definitely has a LOT more complicated drama than the other show, but it still had the sweet slow burn romance and friendship between team mates. I didn't really like the storyline of the ML's ex girlfriend coming back, I never like those types of storylines and the ML have way to much credit to his ex.

I really liked the ML, he was a great friends, good teammate and a good gamer, but when it came to romance he wasn't really good at it. Whilst he was close friends with the FL and even when they started dating, he had a way to close of a relationship with his ex girlfriend, despite the fact that he genuinely didn't want to get back together with her. It made sense for the FL to make a run for it when she saw her boyfriend (the ML) tell his ex that he'll take care of her forever (due to an injury).

I like that the villain is of this drama were very real. They weren't necessarily bad people, all their actions that made them the "villain" was out of jealousy. But what I hated was that at the very end, they all somehow become good, after making the main leads go through hell, they are suddenly supportive of the leads and happy for them with no explanations.

Friendship, gaming and reaching your dreams

There are a lot of aspects this drama does well and a lot of ways this drama is refreshingly unique. But there a few things I was not particularly satisfied with, namely the romance.

First off, this drama focuses more on the leads' e-sports dreams (more on the male lead's though) and friendship/bromance, with less attention being given to the lead's romance (or the female lead's journey). In terms of the first two aspects, the drama does a pretty good job. We see the ups and downs the leads face to reach their goals and how they overcome their obstacles. It sort of fits the song "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor very well. Watching the friendship and bromance among the male lead and the various team members we encounters was also fun.

This drama respects and challenges it's female lead, Qiu Ying. For one, she works really hard - she starts at the bottom and her success is due to her determination and effort. People do not automatically like her. She does not have some insane underlying talent or is constantly protected by the male characters. While she does get help from others, she puts in effort to get that help. In fact, there is a scene where a character is discussing with Qiu Ying's career rival that she (the rival) is in fact just as talented as Qiu Ying but the difference is that Qiu Ying just works harder. Next, she is not dense when it comes to love. She has to experience the struggles of liking someone, supporting them and pursing a relationship. The male lead does not fall for her because she's cute or she's the first person to treat him a certain way. To add to that, her love rival is not the typical evil second female lead but actually a real character with her own struggles and a connection to the male lead. In fact, the second female lead gets the 'character background' advantage that drama writers usually reserve for female leads. Due to all of the above, Qiu Ying is a character who has to prove she is the female lead through her actions not because her character is 'set up' to win. A lot of her actions revolve around the male lead, but she can exist as her own character.

The male lead also also has his fair share of struggles. Although he is very talented, his role in the team is the background tactician. When the team wins, the credit and stardom goes to the player that makes the killer moves and when the team loses, it's his fault for not having a good strategy. He is also someone that has goals, works hard, does the right thing and is a very loyal team member and friend. The big flaw he had was prioritizing relationships. As stated earlier, the one aspect I felt was lacking was the romance and that was due to the male lead. I really appreciate the attempt to make it organic and not fall on clichés or coincidence and while it was not bad, all the credit here goes to the female lead. I actually though the second (the best friend's) romance, although not given as much screen time, was cuter, more balanced and more fulfilling.

The acting was pretty good. Pei Xi seemed a little stiff, not sure if it was the actor himself or the way he was told to play that character. The production was glaringly low-budget and the product placement was part comical and part exacerbating. The music is decent. Overall, it was not my favorite drama but a decent watch and deserves credit for it's organic character set-up, particularly for the female lead.

One of my favorite dramas

For someone that plays LOL which i guess conquer game (the game in the drama) is based on I understood it easily and actually made me game again and made me enjoyed this drama so much that I wish it had more episodes. I watched go go squid and also my kings avatar (Havent finished but Im planning to) and I have to say Gank your heart is my favorite. Main leads have goals from the beginning and even though they have a rocky start together you see their friendship and then to love development which I enjoyed. All the characters got to grow and I mean all of them (except Miya but she is the worst) and enjoyed that cause the story develops in a way that all lose ends come together and have a closure weither is seperate or together.

Favorite characters :
Pei Xi
Loved how even though it has some clique tropes it also has some changes in character. Pei Xi character was definetly unnexpected and actually one of my favorite due to his growth and also true personality and I guarantee you , you will fall for him so quickly once you see how cute and adorable he is. When you see him you will smile right away.

Qiu Ying
I love her , the female lead is very loyal , gentle and very career focus to the point where not even once did she hesitate to leave Kong when she saw his attention towards her was lacking and a door for her career was open and love ,love, love it. Thats what ggs failed to give me and in this drama, the female lead just wants to achieve her dream and when a opportunity happens she goes for it.

Yi Yi
If you decide to watch this drama there are two options or you hate yi yi or you love her. YiYi is controlling to the female lead but in a a healthy way i would say. They explain that Qui Ying lost her mom and left her home due to family issues so at this point Qiu Ying family is her best friend. You see how much she worries , supports and loves Qiu Ying to the point that I wish I had her as a friend. I feel like YiYi became a motherish and best friend figure and thats why she worries so much because shes the one that will always be by Qiu Ying side and I love her so much for that.

Cons:

There are some lose ends in terms of one villain , in one episode someone tried to attach the female lead and it was addressed that one episode and after that it was never mentioned before which gave me a bitter taste. Wish they couldve addressed the problem properly.

It has alot of cliche scenarios but it didnt stop me , I feel like some dramas are done so well that clique moments become enjoyable instead of an eye roll and this drama did it for me.
