Brilliant Romance Comedy

I have watched this series 4 times. It is quite diverse with Taiwanese (second ML) and Korean (ML) actors
The story line is good. I laughed and cried each time I watched it.

Korean male actors in chinese dramas.

The acting is brilliant. I think the chinese male actors can learn some acting skills from the Korean actors. Their facial and body gestures communicates without words. The way they express their emotions, its really inviting.

Second ML and FL, their acting was really good.
The acting of the villian was not good in the first episodes, but improved.

The devil is in the details

The ML pays closed attention to the FL's every action, hence, he informs the doctor that she often falls asleep and ask for a full medical examination.
Furthermore, after doing research of her illness, he sets "share location" on her phone to find her if she has an attack.
I love his attentiveness.

The FL, she does not exaggerate her tomboy role. While she is naive, innocent, humble, strong willed and has a sense of justice - she lacks self confidence. She is really very cute.

In my opinion and experience as a "Tomboy"- her mother sees her as a tomboy, therefore, giving her a tongue - lashing instead of comfort because she is accustomed to doing so. However, she is aware that her daughter prefer to silently cry by herself.

The rest of the acting by the other actors - 👍

Okay first of all, no OSTs what the hell

Okay, there's like 2 but it's a 50-episode series.

I think the only rational people here are Shu Fei's mom and Yin Yuan. And maybe Qi Ran.

SF's mom was rightfully angry at Lan Tian's meddling granma/mother/aunt combo. (I'm really annoyed at every scene of them plus the cousin.) Yin Yuan knows what she wants and is very outspoken about it, doesn't use underhanded methods and is always straighforward. She maybe cutthroat but it's all calculated strategy.

Lan Tian was also kinda great (ngl, if my boyfriend says "she might not be the prettiest but I love her" I would kill myself right there and then). I liked that he bends to whatever SF wants, he just pretends to resist but does anything she wants any way. He's protective of her and doesn't let anyone bully her. I also liked that he's openly affectionate towards her especially when they became official. And he liked her before her "makeover". I really liked his character arc... until his ex gf/fiancée came back. Now why would he bring her home to stay at his place?? I really don't care if she got evicted, broke and terminally sick. She ghosted him for years and she didn't have any other friends she can ask for help aside from him? And why the hell would she sleep in his bedroom? Granted he didn't know she will do that and he's planning to stay over at SF's house while she stays at his house anyway but this is grounds for a break up. I would have blocked his ass, packed up and moved out my house next door lol. I thought that'd be the worse of it, but that last 3 episodes are so bad. I think a break-up is not enough, I need him exorcised actually, what the fck.

Shu Fei is too much of a pushover and just frustrates me with every choice she makes. Why does she always have to be nice to everyone?? Her colleague stole her project proposal and she still lends him a big amount of money after. He then proceeds to stage a kidnapping to threaten her, and he still gets forgiven after. Her other colleague frames her and made her pay a big amount for a watch she didn't break. After finding out about it, she still decides to take the fall. Her bestfriend uses her computer to email a client and frame her again. Even went so far as delete the CCTV footage of her crime. And she still forgives her and also, to no one's surprise, took the fall. Now her boy friend's ex-fiancée turned up again after ghosting LT and making him afraid of relationships, and she's just willing to let her stay at her place bc she doesn't want the ex to stay at his place? WTF are those choices even? Like give her money for a hotel or something. And you know what, while were at it, what the hell is that hair? Even with the make over she looks far too old that her age, which is just a shame because she's pretty irl.

And the most devious of all is the fcking redemption arc of Lin Fei's father. Mind you he just spent 10 years in jail for killing her mother in a domestic assault which has in turn ruined her whole childhood and got her trauma. Ans everyone just forgives him? Like all her friends (and bf!) just accepts him because she forgave him? Like fck no.

Also the SA accusation plot? Like I understand that were supposed to be on Qi Ran's side because we know as the viewer that he didnt do it, but everyone in the company takes his side. Even the one witness. Like? He is a great boss but not one person believed the girl who accused him? That plot just seemed out of place and distasteful. Did not like that at all. And it was never brought up again after Qi Ran resigned.

I'm skipping so many scenes because it's all just annoying me. And frankly, I understood everything just fine because it's all too cliche and predictable. I'm hate watching by episode 30, and mainly because I like Jung Il Woo. I liked him since Cinderella and the Four Knights. He doesnt have a lot of kdramas unfortunately so I'm left with this mess of a series that went on for far too long. Man, 2015 was really a time for cdramas. The outfits are so 2015 too. Like is why everyone on skinny jeans.

This drama makes me realize that maybe the cdramas/kdramas I loved and wished could've had more episodes is just perfect as it was. 50 episodes is just too long. It's so long they even developed a new couple by the middle mark. Started soft-launching an ex-gf by episode 25 that you know is gonna show up again. The whole premise of the Lin Fei and Shu Fei lies (and Lan Tian by extension) gets resolved by episodes 30-35. Really they're just making up plots as they shoot lol.

And for a series so long I can't believe the ending was so rushed. And just horrible ending overall. It's just cheating with a few extra steps because SF is actually aware and was there the entire time. SF never grew a spine, infuriating.

I blame Jung Il Woo for being handsome and forcing me to watch this car crash. I'm gonna have to rewatch Cinderella and the Four Knights to burn this off my mind.
