Boriiiing
I really wanted to like this drama. Was waiting for it to air and watched all the teasers and trailers every time IQIYi posted them. I started watching it right after the release and even downloaded the app to have regular updates about it.Well, I am really disappointed. I like Zhang Linghe, there is no doubt that he is really handsome, but his acting here is not it. Xu Ruohan was better, but the fact that she is dubbed and doesn’t use her real voice made every dialogue she has in this drama kind of awkward and superficial. The chemistry between the two actors was not there for me. They had so many kissing scenes and everything, but they looked forced and superficial. maybe because the storyline was so rushed and poor in logic.
That said, the story was really boring, so much that I had to drop the show around the 20th episode. Otherwise I would have wasted so much time watching something with no value whatsoever. Even til the 20th episode, I tried to skip all the boring and unnecessary parts which left me with like 10 minutes on every episode that were actually interesting and worth watching.
Overall not the best drama in this genre. Everyone in the comments is saying that the drama is relaxing, but I think that’s because it puts you to sleep every time you try to watch it. There was nothing realistic about their relationship, everything was just so perfect and amazing and just so boooooring.

The Best Thing is the Best Comfort and Romance Cdrama so Far!!
After hidden love and WIFTY this is my new favorite comfort Chinese drama. China really slays when they make these type of show and definitely we the audience love it when there are least toxic characters as possible.I loved the main lead in Sparkle Love back in 2020 and I'm so happy to see him again here in a mature role and he looks even more handsome now.
The female lead is just so beautiful and an amazing actress from Perfect and Casual to this
Finally after waiting for years cdrama have returned to making amazing shows. It took me back to the days of put your head on my shoulder.
The cast is so good the plot is so good the family relations and friendships are amazing the chemistry between leads is electric and the romance scenes are the best.
So if you like shows like this then this is the best option to watch ❤️🫶

A sweet, romantic, and heartwarming series with a magnificent CL
PLOT: The FL, unhappy with her fiancé, and receptionist at a luxury hotel, suffers from insomnia. She consults a TCM (traditional Chinese doctor), the ML. He treats her, with gentleness and tolerance, and helps her regain control of her life.+++ The CL (Zhang Ling He & Xu Ruo Han) is superb, talented, subtle (all is said in micro-expressions and glances) with a very natural chemistry.
+++ The actors are good and bring to life endearing characters. No "great villain," just human beings with their strengths and vulnerabilities.
+++ The direction is perfect: sets, costumes, cinematography, pacing, OSTs, ... There is no downtime, clichés, or unnecessary scenes.
+++ The story is intelligently written, the dialogue is often wise, but also funny, and realistic. Chinese medicine is very well showcased (ingredients, methods, philosophy, food, etc.)

How warm it makes me feel
"The Best Thing" is an urban romance that wraps you in a warm embrace—its gentle storytelling feels as fuzzy and refreshing as a nice morning coffee after a good night’s sleep, and as comforting as watching the sunset with your loved ones after a hard day’s work. The drama follows Shen Xifan, a hardworking hotel manager burdened by insomnia and daily stresses, who finds solace when she turns to traditional Chinese medicine. Her unexpected encounter with He Suye, a calm and compassionate doctor, sparks a slow-burning connection that transforms their professional relationship into a tender romance. Their evolving chemistry is portrayed with natural ease and understated warmth, making every small moment between them resonate like a cherished ritual.
Visually, the series delights with soft, sunlit cinematography that mirrors the gentle unfolding of its narrative. Every frame seems carefully designed to evoke that serene feeling you get during those quiet moments at sunrise or sunset—a pause in time where the world feels both intimate and full of promise.
In a world often filled with high-octane dramas, "The Best Thing" stands apart by inviting you to slow down, to savor life’s subtle pleasures, and to reconnect with the simple joys of everyday existence. It’s a story of healing, second chances, and the unexpected beauty of finding love where you least expect it.

The Best Thing
I was actually interested in watching this drama because Zhang Linghe was in it. But when I watched the first episode, I really like it. It makes me want to watch it again and again. I can't wait for the next episode. The story is very light and peacful with a little angst. This is the first time I've seen a drama that Xu Ruohan has in it. The chemistry between Xu Ruohan and Zhang Linghe was extraordinary, another level, and top notch. If you want to watch a sweet romance drama. I suggest you watch this drama. This drama can cure insomnia, But get diabetes at the same time😆😆😆Was this review helpful to you?
A FULL COURSE MEAL
If you want a drama that will give you EVERYTHING you want in a ROMANCE drama, this is it. I particularly love how the writers snub the cliché stereotype of the man always being the forefront to initiate anything. This drama stepped right over all of that, and it is refreshing to see. If there were a higher rating, I would give it. This drama had me kicking my feet, blushing, screaming, and smiling till my cheeks ached.....gosh....How do I move on? This was a masterpiece !Was this review helpful to you?

Best modern drama this year so far
this drama was simply amazing, i loved it so much! OST’s, cinematography, acting, everything was great and i enjoyed this drama from start to finish. i did get a bit stressed out when the fl rejected the ml and then the ex trying to come back but it didn’t drag very long and when the leads got together the drama was just pure sweetness and fluff which i enjoyed very much 🥰he suye easily became one of my most favorite modern drama ml’s cause he was always so supportive and understanding, caring and sincere towards the fl he really is the modern version of gong ziyu perhaps that’s why i loved him sm 😹and he finally got a happy ending and a wedding scene! and the last episode was so beautifully done especially the wedding i lowkey teared up a bit when the ml said some very sweet and poetic things for the fl; i loved the ending because it was straight to the point (though i wish we got to see some extra scenes of them as husband and wife), i gave it a 10/10 because i loved the drama so much and the fact nobody else was toxic or annoying her parents were always good to her and i just felt happy watching this drama, it’s a comfort show about two people sharing a pure love, they were such a beautiful couple and their chemistry was great ✨i will miss this drama sm, the length was perfect too not too short not too long ☺️Was this review helpful to you?

I'm about to die from sugar rush
This drama was one of the cutest and sweetest I’ve ever watched. Pure green flag energy, like a whole green forest of wholesomeness. He Su Ye might just be one of the most emotionally mature MLs I’ve seen. Easily top 3. This man isn’t just a green flag; he’s an entire damn rainforest.
I actually really liked Shen Xi Fan too. Yeah, she had her childish moments, but it made sense, she’s younger than the ML and grew up super sheltered.
The last few episodes flowed so smoothly that before I knew it, I had finished the whole series. No regrets.

Feeling loved is indeed the best thing!
This drama got me invested pretty soon. I have insomnia problems like the female lead and I find the tradicional chinese medicine a really interesting topic so I was captivated since episode 1. The main leads are so beautiful and the cinematography in this drama is absolutely gorgeous. I also enjoyed both main leads characters.Xifan is a type of a character that it’s easy to like and even when she annoys us a little, it’s still hard to hate her because we understand her. She also gets so much better later in the drama and the actress is so pretty!! Ling He is also SO handsome and I really liked his character. He was handsome, sweet, kind, mature….really my type. Xifan’s and Dr. He romance is so heartwarming and cute, I died many times watching their scenes. I loved how they enjoyed giving flowers to each other because it’s not typical to see female characters giving male characters flowers and also because I am a flower lover too haha
Xifan’s friends were great characters for me too and I wished they had more screentime together because I think they were interesting as characters and couple. Her family is also so lovable and Dr.He grandpa as well. I think the pacing of the drama was really great too! We do have some unnecessary scenarios but luckily they don’t drag too much.
“The Best Thing” is a drama with a simple but heartwarming story with an outstanding cinematography, good OST, nice characters and a very sweet romance between the main leads. I definitely recommend!

A Story That Feels Like A Warm Hug <3
This drama is the ultimate comfort drama—sweet, lighthearted, and full of warmth. If you’re looking for something simple yet deeply enjoyable, this is the perfect watch. The love story doesn’t rely on unnecessary drama or overcomplicated conflicts. Instead, it is full of positivity, understanding, and heartfelt emotions. Some might find it too "nonsensical" because of how sweet and happy it is (there are some scenes with deep emotions that might make you cry), but that’s exactly what makes it special—you can just turn off your brain, relax, and smile through the entire series.
One of the standout aspects of this drama is the characters’ professions. Unlike the usual cold CEO and helpless female lead trope in many romance Cdramas, This drama offers something different. The male lead is a traditional Chinese medicine doctor specializing in cancer, a career path influenced by his mother’s passing from breast cancer. Meanwhile, the female lead is a hotel manager, which adds an interesting dynamic to the story. This focus on traditional Chinese medicine and breast cancer awareness adds depth to an otherwise lighthearted narrative.
The casting is nothing short of perfection. The male and female leads complement each other so well, bringing their characters to life with a natural and heartwarming chemistry (Zhang LinHe and Xu RuoHan are perfect for the characters He Suye and Shen Xifan<3). Their relationship is mature and understanding, yet playful and full of adorable moments that make you giggle. The characters being a little more childish, adds endearing quality to their personalities, making their love story even more comforting.
Visually, this drama is a treat. The cinematography is soft, warm, and beautifully composed, with an emphasis on nature, flowers, and delicate lighting. Every shot feels like a painting, enhancing the overall comforting atmosphere of the drama.
The final scene is their wedding, and it is absolutely beautiful. The environment, the decorations, and the way the ML spoke about his love for the FL, all felt so genuine, as if I were attending a real wedding rather than watching a drama. What made it even more special was the couple's dance scene after the wedding. Most dramas don’t include this aspect, even though it happens in real life. Seeing them dance together made the wedding feel so natural and realistic, rather than just another overly rushed wedding scene. It was the perfect ending to such a heartwarming story—romantic, intimate, and full of love.
"The Best Thing" may not be for everyone, especially those who prefer intense plots or high-stakes drama. However, if you love feel-good stories with great chemistry, breathtaking visuals, and a touch of uniqueness in its themes, this drama is an absolute must-watch. Whether you’re a fan of the novel or new to the story, this adaptation delivers a heartwarming and visually stunning experience that stays with you long after the final episode.
