Fluffy, healing, romantic. Zhang Linghe is the star of the show.

This drama is about the female lead who goes to a TCM (traditional chinese medicine) doctor (the male lead), in order to cure her insomnia. The story follows their daily lives and love story. The big focus of the drama is the female lead’s job and insomnia (due to emotional stress from her ex-boyfriend). We also get a glimpse of the male lead’s job and his strained relationship with his dad (more of a side plot).

POSITIVE:
- Fluffy, cozy, romantic and healing.
- Zhang Linghe looked sexy as always. I loved the calm, secure and protective presence his character gave off here.
- Dreamy cinematography. Vibrant colours and many stunning flower landscape shots.
- Sweet and sexy kiss scenes.
- No break up, no misunderstandings, no drama. This is a very stress-free show.
- Nice OST.
- Traditional chinese medicine highlights that got me interested in the topic.
- Cute ending that puts a smile on your face.

NEGATIVE:
- The second half was boring at times, especially as the leads got together. Somehow I needed more skinship/romance as a couple.
- Mother’s sickness. I hated the sickness plotline so much, it almost ruined the drama for me. I didn’t like the resolution either. I could do without these two episodes.
- Lackluster ending. Ok, the wedding was super cute and all but at the same time I felt bored and kept thinking “when is it going to end”. The last two episodes were nice montages but I expected actual dialogue with you know, heartwarming words and all.

OVERALL:
This is the perfect drama to watch if you have a stressful life and need something sweet and uncomplicated to relax your mind with. It’s cute, it’s cozy, it’s romantic. If you love Zhang Linghe, it's definitely a must watch especially as this is his best modern drama so far. If you don’t know the male actor, well… you will LOVE HIM. He is the perfect boyfriend here, charming, calm, sexy, caring. Basically every girl’s dream. And the drama is just that. Dreamy. You won’t find mindblowing dialogue or deep plot. But if you want sweet vibes, with a healthy relationship and beautiful spring settings, watch this.

FAVOURITE QUOTE:
Loving you is the best thing I've ever done! (ep 28 / male lead)

Super duper healing drama

Totally recommended to watch if you want light story, quick to solve conflict, aesthetic cinematography, healing vibe drama!
God, i probably can't watch other drama for a long time because of this. Because for me this is the best drama that i need! Every episode i watch, i felt like my soul got purified with it's healing vibe 🫠 all the time i find myself giggling, smiling, and totally absorbed in their world. Their acting was so good + they're so good looking that i can't bear to looking away even a sec from them. And now after i've done watch it, i can't stop playing the osts, i even giggled when i hear Silence Wang's song intro and started humming and singing🤣 please god please, please sent me someone like He Suye as my life companion please 🫠

Healing, fluff romance has overdosed on sweetness

Move over, oppas. Geges are here to take over the world 🌏 This is only my third Cdrama yet I'm convinced Chinese actors have a different kind of rizz no one can ever top. It must be because of the hairline shadow powder and hair extensions of the male leads 😹

Dr. He Su Ye's face card. That's it. That's the tweet. That's my entire review haha. His lethal face card can bewitch anyone, body and soul.

Zhang Ling He plays the role of Dr. He, a traditional chinese medicine (TCM) doctor. Due to insomnia, Shen Xi Fan (Xu Ruo Han) is convinced by her parents to have an appointment in the TCM clinic.

Zhang Ling He is more than an eye candy. He actually looks and moves like a TCM doctor, feeling the pulse of each patient with confidence and focus. The dramatic reveal of his face card after he finally removed his face mask was worth it. He looks like he came straight out of a video game. His eyes are so expressive. The way he subtly lift his gaze over his doll-like eyelashes is so alluring and captivating. He's also a master of micro-expressions which is a fun to watch especially when the intern gets on his nerves. He treats sick people, cooks nutritious foods, showers you with affection, and even helps you write your cover letter. What else can you ask for? 🤤🤤 He's the ultimate gege although the only con is he's not in good terms with his father which is always the case in any Cdrama 😹 He also constantly invites his crush over to his place which Asian parents will vehemently disapprove of and is a yellow flag sign for me 😹

Xu Ruo Han's beauty is the epitome of spring season embodying qualities like grace, radiance and breath of fresh hair. Her dark brown copper hair also makes her appear friendly and approachable which complements her job as a front desk manager. Although at the start of the story, we met her while she is in a bad place—navigating her a failing, toxic relationship with her long-time boyfriend. Her self-loathing and questioning herself if she's worthy of love resonates to me the most. It's not easy to heal from a toxic relationship especially when you've done nothing wrong and didn't deserve it in the first place. This theme was mostly tackled in the first half of the show and after her ex finally left her alone there was nothing the story could offer but cute and sweet moments with Dr. He. It was a delight to watch both of them finally be together but I still think it would be better off if this was 20 episodes only.

The last portion mostly consists of cheeky check up, stolen smiles, peak boyfriend-girlfriend behavior, steamy make-out sessions and another unexpected conflict. Twenty-eight episodes were too much for a fluff, light romance but on a brighter side I get to see and drool over Dr. He for 28 episodes so it's still a win for me. The third and last portion of the show was overdosed with sweetness and were too much for my liking. It’s clear the writer is already running out of ideas each episode so he throws every romantic moment he can think of.

The rest of the cast had some growth, if there are any. They are fun to watch and ever supportive of our couple. The story has come full circle when all of the people involved in their love story attended their wedding. Nothing is accidental in this world since we are bound to meet people we need in our lives, one way or another.

I must commend the ex for annoying the hell out of me. Unpredictable, manipulative lovers are the worst. They can mess with your head and try to convince your feelings and memories are only in your head. The hurtful words her ex told her slowly erodes her self-worth and made her stay restless ultimately causing her insomnia.

I also appreciate the episode titles as they are enticing and informative that it got me sold on TCM. The show also emphasizes the pros of traditional medicine and it made me realized this is what people from the past used to treat themselves. Medicinal plants indeed are nature's gift to our well-being.

To sum up, The Best Thing is another feel good romance guaranteed to make you swoon and feel butterflies in your stomach and wish you have a Dr. He in your life 🥹💝The excessive mushy moments and stretched out running time might bore you but just consider it as a fan service and you will make it through. This is romance through and through giving us every bits of romance cliché. This portrays a healing, calm love that even Shen Xi Fan feels to surreal for her like a fever dream. The ultimate highlight of this show is Dr. He’s face card, glasses, face mask and veiny hands checking a pulse—and that’s more than good enough for me.

The Best Thing is the Best Comfort and Romance Cdrama so Far!!

After hidden love and WIFTY this is my new favorite comfort Chinese drama. China really slays when they make these type of show and definitely we the audience love it when there are least toxic characters as possible.

I loved the main lead in Sparkle Love back in 2020 and I'm so happy to see him again here in a mature role and he looks even more handsome now.

The female lead is just so beautiful and an amazing actress from Perfect and Casual to this

Finally after waiting for years cdrama have returned to making amazing shows. It took me back to the days of put your head on my shoulder.

The cast is so good the plot is so good the family relations and friendships are amazing the chemistry between leads is electric and the romance scenes are the best.

So if you like shows like this then this is the best option to watch ❤️🫶

A sweet, romantic, and heartwarming series with a magnificent CL

PLOT: The FL, unhappy with her fiancé, and receptionist at a luxury hotel, suffers from insomnia. She consults a TCM (traditional Chinese doctor), the ML. He treats her, with gentleness and tolerance, and helps her regain control of her life.

+++ The CL (Zhang Ling He & Xu Ruo Han) is superb, talented, subtle (all is said in micro-expressions and glances) with a very natural chemistry.
+++ The actors are good and bring to life endearing characters. No "great villain," just human beings with their strengths and vulnerabilities.
+++ The direction is perfect: sets, costumes, cinematography, pacing, OSTs, ... There is no downtime, clichés, or unnecessary scenes.
+++ The story is intelligently written, the dialogue is often wise, but also funny, and realistic. Chinese medicine is very well showcased (ingredients, methods, philosophy, food, etc.)

=> A drama that warms the heart (。♥‿♥。)

How warm it makes me feel

"The Best Thing" is an urban romance that wraps you in a warm embrace—its gentle storytelling feels as fuzzy and refreshing as a nice morning coffee after a good night’s sleep, and as comforting as watching the sunset with your loved ones after a hard day’s work.

The drama follows Shen Xifan, a hardworking hotel manager burdened by insomnia and daily stresses, who finds solace when she turns to traditional Chinese medicine. Her unexpected encounter with He Suye, a calm and compassionate doctor, sparks a slow-burning connection that transforms their professional relationship into a tender romance. Their evolving chemistry is portrayed with natural ease and understated warmth, making every small moment between them resonate like a cherished ritual.

Visually, the series delights with soft, sunlit cinematography that mirrors the gentle unfolding of its narrative. Every frame seems carefully designed to evoke that serene feeling you get during those quiet moments at sunrise or sunset—a pause in time where the world feels both intimate and full of promise.

In a world often filled with high-octane dramas, "The Best Thing" stands apart by inviting you to slow down, to savor life’s subtle pleasures, and to reconnect with the simple joys of everyday existence. It’s a story of healing, second chances, and the unexpected beauty of finding love where you least expect it.

The Best Thing

I was actually interested in watching this drama because Zhang Linghe was in it. But when I watched the first episode, I really like it. It makes me want to watch it again and again. I can't wait for the next episode. The story is very light and peacful with a little angst. This is the first time I've seen a drama that Xu Ruohan has in it. The chemistry between Xu Ruohan and Zhang Linghe was extraordinary, another level, and top notch. If you want to watch a sweet romance drama. I suggest you watch this drama. This drama can cure insomnia, But get diabetes at the same time😆😆😆

A FULL COURSE MEAL

If you want a drama that will give you EVERYTHING you want in a ROMANCE drama, this is it. I particularly love how the writers snub the cliché stereotype of the man always being the forefront to initiate anything. This drama stepped right over all of that, and it is refreshing to see. If there were a higher rating, I would give it. This drama had me kicking my feet, blushing, screaming, and smiling till my cheeks ached.....gosh....How do I move on? This was a masterpiece !

Best modern drama this year so far

this drama was simply amazing, i loved it so much! OST’s, cinematography, acting, everything was great and i enjoyed this drama from start to finish. i did get a bit stressed out when the fl rejected the ml and then the ex trying to come back but it didn’t drag very long and when the leads got together the drama was just pure sweetness and fluff which i enjoyed very much 🥰he suye easily became one of my most favorite modern drama ml’s cause he was always so supportive and understanding, caring and sincere towards the fl he really is the modern version of gong ziyu perhaps that’s why i loved him sm 😹and he finally got a happy ending and a wedding scene! and the last episode was so beautifully done especially the wedding i lowkey teared up a bit when the ml said some very sweet and poetic things for the fl; i loved the ending because it was straight to the point (though i wish we got to see some extra scenes of them as husband and wife), i gave it a 10/10 because i loved the drama so much and the fact nobody else was toxic or annoying her parents were always good to her and i just felt happy watching this drama, it’s a comfort show about two people sharing a pure love, they were such a beautiful couple and their chemistry was great ✨i will miss this drama sm, the length was perfect too not too short not too long ☺️

I'm about to die from sugar rush

This drama was one of the cutest and sweetest I’ve ever watched. Pure green flag energy, like a whole green forest of wholesomeness.
He Su Ye might just be one of the most emotionally mature MLs I’ve seen. Easily top 3. This man isn’t just a green flag; he’s an entire damn rainforest.
I actually really liked Shen Xi Fan too. Yeah, she had her childish moments, but it made sense, she’s younger than the ML and grew up super sheltered.
The last few episodes flowed so smoothly that before I knew it, I had finished the whole series. No regrets.

Realistic storyline in real life for us, family, education, health, romance, we can get it all here. There are also life lessons. Very beautiful drama, cinematography Very beautiful, the soundtrack is very comfortable to listen to, especially the acting of the main actors Xifan and Suye is very natural, the drama is far above expectations, much better than in the novel. The atmosphere is lively because the main cast builds very good chemistry, so that we who watch really enjoy it and every episode brings a smile to see them. Ah this is a very beautiful drama, really beautiful, the best drama in 2025. Hopefully the main actor Xifan Suye gets a project in a new drama, because their chemistry is very very good,Good luck to you guys, I'm looking forward to your next project together 😊😊😊
