Love is a Many Splendour Thing
This is a sweet, tender, slow-burn romance that draws you in with quiet intensity. It centres on Shen XiFan, a poised hotel manager, and He SuYe, a calm and grounded TCM doctor—two people who meet by chance at a clinic, but at exactly the wrong (or perhaps right) time in their lives. Both carry emotional bruises. XiFan has just been abandoned after a seven-year relationship, unfairly labelled as “selfish,” while SuYe is still marked by a past love who left and never returned. Their connection does not ignite instantly—it simmers. What makes this story compelling is not grand gestures, but the hesitation, the restraint, and the unspoken tension. Anyone who has loved, lost, or held back will recognise that quiet fear: What if I care more? What if I ruin this?
SuYe is almost dangerously ideal—steady, capable, kind, and quietly attentive. The kind of man who does not just say the right things but does the right things. And yet, XiFan resists. Not because she does not feel it, but because she does. Determined to study abroad and wary of another heartbreak, she holds back—even when everything in front of her feels right.
Their journey is shaped by near-misses, misunderstandings, and the unwelcome return of the ex-boyfriend. But beneath it all lies a simple, powerful truth: timing matters, but so does courage. The drama gently reminds us that even the most rational people make irrational choices in love—and that clarity, not assumption, is what keeps relationships from falling apart.
It also does not shy away from reality. XiFan’s mother raises a point many would rather avoid: the harsh, lingering bias women face when balancing career, age, and family expectations. It is uncomfortable, but real.
And then comes the quiet wisdom: when two people meet and genuinely love each other, it is rare. Fragile. Not something to be dismissed lightly—even if the future is uncertain. If anything, this drama makes you want to say: if it is real, hold on to it.
A few imperfections add texture rather than detract:
The “perfect timing” encounters stretch believability.
Some cultural inserts feel more patriotic than practical.
Romantic scenes occasionally linger a bit too long—though they do capture the sweetness of being in love.
There are also interesting cultural nuances—more fatalistic expressions of love, teasing that borders on criticism, and blurred lines in mentorship—that may feel unfamiliar or even jarring to some viewers.
Still, what lingers is its warmth. Supportive family dynamics, the quiet beauty of finding the right person at the right time, and a soundtrack that wraps the story in soft emotion. It is no surprise the drama is so well received.
If anything, one cannot help but wish for a little more tension—a late twist, perhaps the return of a former girlfriend at just the wrong moment (which I was expecting but did not happen). Because when a love story is this gentle, a little storm would only make it shine brighter.

The Best Thing is the Best Comfort and Romance Cdrama so Far!!
After hidden love and WIFTY this is my new favorite comfort Chinese drama. China really slays when they make these type of show and definitely we the audience love it when there are least toxic characters as possible.I loved the main lead in Sparkle Love back in 2020 and I'm so happy to see him again here in a mature role and he looks even more handsome now.
The female lead is just so beautiful and an amazing actress from Perfect and Casual to this
Finally after waiting for years cdrama have returned to making amazing shows. It took me back to the days of put your head on my shoulder.
The cast is so good the plot is so good the family relations and friendships are amazing the chemistry between leads is electric and the romance scenes are the best.
So if you like shows like this then this is the best option to watch ❤️🫶

How warm it makes me feel
"The Best Thing" is an urban romance that wraps you in a warm embrace—its gentle storytelling feels as fuzzy and refreshing as a nice morning coffee after a good night’s sleep, and as comforting as watching the sunset with your loved ones after a hard day’s work. The drama follows Shen Xifan, a hardworking hotel manager burdened by insomnia and daily stresses, who finds solace when she turns to traditional Chinese medicine. Her unexpected encounter with He Suye, a calm and compassionate doctor, sparks a slow-burning connection that transforms their professional relationship into a tender romance. Their evolving chemistry is portrayed with natural ease and understated warmth, making every small moment between them resonate like a cherished ritual.
Visually, the series delights with soft, sunlit cinematography that mirrors the gentle unfolding of its narrative. In a world often filled with high-octane dramas, "The Best Thing" stands apart by inviting you to slow down, to savor life’s subtle pleasures, and to reconnect with the simple joys of everyday existence. It’s a story of healing, second chances, and the unexpected beauty of finding love where you least expect it.

The Best Thing
I was actually interested in watching this drama because Zhang Linghe was in it. But when I watched the first episode, I really like it. It makes me want to watch it again and again. I can't wait for the next episode. The story is very light and peacful with a little angst. This is the first time I've seen a drama that Xu Ruohan has in it. The chemistry between Xu Ruohan and Zhang Linghe was extraordinary, another level, and top notch. If you want to watch a sweet romance drama. I suggest you watch this drama. This drama can cure insomnia, But get diabetes at the same time😆😆😆Was this review helpful to you?
A FULL COURSE MEAL
If you want a drama that will give you EVERYTHING you want in a ROMANCE drama, this is it. I particularly love how the writers snub the cliché stereotype of the man always being the forefront to initiate anything. This drama stepped right over all of that, and it is refreshing to see. If there were a higher rating, I would give it. This drama had me kicking my feet, blushing, screaming, and smiling till my cheeks ached.....gosh....How do I move on? This was a masterpiece !Was this review helpful to you?
This is definitely a slow burn romance
I enjoyed this drama, but because I liked the ML so much I really wanted more skin ship. They took a while to get together, but it was not too tiring. Her parents were wonderful and his grandfather was a pleasure. There were no screaming in-laws...only two episodes with a difficult ex...so quite enjoyable in that regard.
No one cheated or slapped someone in the face...a slice of life drama.

Truly, love is the best thing <3
The Best Thing is a 2025 chinese romantic drama starring Linghe and Ruohan. The plot follows Shen Xi Fan, a hotel manager who suffers from insomnia due to the stresses caused by her seven-year relationship, which is on the brink of ending. In search of relief for her symptoms, she turns to He Su Ye, a doctor specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Initially, their relationship is strictly professional, with He Su Ye treating Shen Xi Fan's problems. However, as they discover they are neighbors, a deeper connection begins to form. Over time, what starts as a patient-doctor relationship transforms into something more intimate, leading to a light, love-filled, and trusting romance.POSITIVE POINTS:
1. Approach to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): The introduction of TCM into the plot was an enriching, interesting, and educational aspect. This is undoubtedly the drama's standout feature, as it offers an alternative approach to healing and symptom relief. In each episode, we are introduced to a new herb or medicinal plant, with explanations about its health benefits and how it can be used to treat various conditions.
2. Cinematography, Photography, and OST: The cinematography and photography are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in recent times. It was a deeply immersive, comforting, and sensory experience. The production not only captured the aesthetic beauty of the story but also used visual symbolism to reinforce central themes of the series, such as TCM and the development of the relationship. Additionally, the OST is enchanting, with soft music accompanying the cute, romantic, and introspective moments of the plot, creating a sense of comfort and serenity.
3. Chemistry Between the Protagonists and Interaction with the Supporting Cast: The development of the romance was beautiful, showing the gradual and genuine growth of intimacy between the two, which strengthened over time. What stands out is how they not only fall in love but also support each other's dreams, demonstrating what a solid foundation in a relationship truly looks like. Furthermore, the way they help each other overcome personal and emotional challenges makes their connection even more beautiful. Another positive aspect is how the supporting characters were introduced. There were no major twists or dramatic conflicts, but each character's interaction contributed significantly to the couple's story, providing moments of lightness, humor, and reflection. These interactions helped enrich the narrative, offering balance to the different moments of the plot.
4. Story Development: The plot was well-constructed, respecting the initial premise of the drama, with a gradual, slow, and calm pace that allows us to absorb the evolution of the relationship between Xi Fan and Su Ye naturally. As mentioned before, there were no forced dramatic moments, which, in my opinion, helped maintain the authenticity of the story. Rather than resorting to exaggerated conflicts, the script focuses on the intimate development of the characters, allowing their feelings to grow slowly. This more subtle approach made their romance even more captivating for me.
OVERALL:
"The Best Thing" is an extremely rich visual experience, featuring a healthy, sweet, and calm romance, with Traditional Chinese Medicine as the backdrop of the plot. This combination of serene romance and themes of healing provides a unique and culturally enriching narrative. My rating is 9.5/10.

A healthy relationship who can support each other decisions.
In my opinion, this is one of the best modern C-dramas. There’s no second lead (I don’t really count her ex as one), no unnecessary filler scenes, no toxic parents, and—most importantly—finally, a male and female lead who don’t have a childhood connection. They met like normal adults, with no past history or rivalry, making their relationship feel natural and realistic. The story stays focused on the main couple, with the majority of scenes revolving around them, which is a huge plus. The cinematography is absolutely stunning, and the whole drama made me want to fall in love. The abundance of flowers throughout the show was beautiful, and the filming locations were breathtaking.
Another aspect I loved was how the female lead often took the initiative—bringing flowers for him, giving him a ring, and even proposing. We’re so used to seeing the male lead do all of this, but this drama flipped that dynamic in such a refreshing way.
It felt so realistic when He Suye said, “If one day you make me feel miserable, I won’t hold onto you anymore.” A relationship is about two people—happiness and joy should be mutual, not one-sided.
We’re so used to seeing male leads promise to never let go, vowing to stay together forever. But here, the male lead openly stated that if he ever feels miserable, he will walk away too. It was refreshing and something I had never seen in a C-drama before.
All the lovey-dovey scenes felt so natural, and I couldn’t help but kick my feet while watching them. The acting never felt forced—it was effortless and genuine.
When they were happy, I felt happy too. It felt like when two people fall in love, their happiness spreads to those around them. As a viewer, I experienced that joy along with them. In the drama, their neighbors, colleagues, and parents were all cheering for them, genuinely happy for their love.
In total , A healthy relationship who can support each other decisions.

Loving you, is the best thing I've even done!
Wow, I never thought i would have enjoyed this as much as I did! 😲.. the acting from the ML was soooo well done, he brought so much life to his character, the FL as well, and they just looked like they were soooo in love, the way they kissed, hugged, stared and held each other was crazy!! I was grinning from ear to ear in sooo many episode, and i left feeling soo much, I was lucky I wasn't around other they might have thought i was crazh rhe way i was squealing sometimes. The washroom kiss and then that car kiss? 👀 the MLs lips were so pink and his ears was red, like how'd that pass censorship? 😳🤭 i remembered watching that clip last year and was hoping it would pass and it did 🤭..This was really well done, I just loved that the romance wasn't rushed and it took time for the FL to heal, and I love that the ML wasn't the usual aloof ML, he had "personality" .. the parents were awesome too, in the later episodes the way they comforted each other like a real couple was sooo cute, and the FL friends were great, they were so wholesome!. 10/10 for me!!.. this will be added to.my rewatch list! 😊 🤭
How could I forget the wedding!!.. I liked how personal it was, the man in the suit and apron haha, and all there photos and all the flowers since the FL loved flowers, was a really nice touch. We got to see so many people who were there during their journey all happy, and seeing their guest having a great time at a wedding was the first for me since watching drama over a decade ago, they really did put a lot into that, and the ceremony was so beautiful! 🤭
Thats what i liked about this show, it felt like you were watching a journey from the FL needing healing physical and emotional, and from strangers to doctor and patient, to acquaintances, to friends, to being each other crush, and falling in love and becoming soul mates. The journey was wonderful to watch, apart from the ex, there wasn't another else toxic, the leads loved and respected ach other, apologize when they were wrong, I've been watching ZLH shows since his debut maiden holmes, sparkle love etc, he has grown soo much, he was always a great actor from since then but seeing him in this role has made me like him even more and I'm looking forward to his future works. Same for the FL.
I hope if you like this type of show you'll give it a chance and see how you feel about it, happy drama watching! 😊

Cute but kinda boring
This was okay, but I just wish there was more that happened. There wasn't anything in this besides the main couple's story and while they were cute together and I thought the actors had chemistry, there just wasn't enough to make 28 episodes of just them entertaining. After they got together, I was honestly just bored. There were some minor side storylines, but none of them were interesting enough and when the focus is on the leads to this extent, you're not really that invested in side characters and their drama. At least, that's how I felt.Anyway, cute couple and that's about it.
