A Calming Journey of Love and Healing

This drama completely swept me off my feet! From the very first episode, the aesthetic cinematography and the beautiful use of music created such a captivating atmosphere, giving me literal butterflies. The direction was spot-on, and each character was introduced so well, leaving me eagerly anticipating what was to come.
As the story unfolded, particularly in the second episode, I was thoroughly impressed by the nuanced acting, especially from the male lead. His subtle yet expressive portrayal of a man hesitant about relationships felt incredibly genuine and refreshing. The female lead was equally compelling, depicting loyalty and a calm demeanor that felt true to life.
The drama maintained a wonderfully calming energy throughout, with a sweet and realistic romance blossoming between the leads. I loved how their connection built gradually, with subtle yet significant sparks. The incorporation of traditional Chinese medicine added a fascinating cultural layer. By the time I reached the later episodes, I was completely invested in their journey, cheering them on through their individual struggles and the eventual triumph of their love.
Kudos to the director, cinematographer, writers, and everyone involved in crafting this beautiful and perfectly executed story with believable characters and pacing. The makers clearly cherished this drama, resulting in a truly worthwhile viewing experience free of unnecessary dragging or over-dramatization. The ending was beautiful and heartwarming, solidifying this as one of the best Cdramas I've ever watched. It's a solid 10/10 for me – a truly cherished story!

The Best Thing

I really like this movie. The chemistry between the two actors is very good. The look of this movie is refreshing. I hope ML and FL can often act together in their next dramas. Chinese medicine is very interesting, I learned a lot from it. The visuals of both actors (he su ye and shen xifan) are very beautiful as if they were destined to have the role.

ThE BEST THING IS LITERALLY "THE BEST THING"

Some dramas are just stories, but some feel like a part of your life. The Best Thing wasn't just a drama for me-it was a place where I found comfort, warmth, and healing when I needed it the most. It’s not overly flashy or dramatic just for the sake of it, which I appreciate. Instead, it leans into emotional honesty and strong performances to move the plot forward.Y’all know we will get good kissing scenes with Zhang lol.
So many messages in each episodes which made it a great storyline.
This was an easy watch, It was not draggy and you will definitely love it.

“Just focus on loving yourself , as for the rest leave it to me”

Getting emotional and nostalgic since now it has ended and that it’s already been a year since I remember even finding out about this series 🤧

As for the story I enjoyed it as someone who barely watches a lot of cdramas
I like how comforting it was and how healing it is
How both leads were able to be each others cure in a way
The funny moments and seriousness was nicely done

When I first began the drama I was frustrated that He suye fell for xifan at first sight but xifan was still in a relationship and it might be a lot of turn off for many but don’t worry He suye won’t do anything like cheating or stealing

I myself relate to xifan as in mostly our goals but I saw some people hating on her simply because she rejected Hu suye confession and yes it was heartless but you also got to understand that xifan herself never planned to have feelings for him cause she was planning to study abroad and the moment she kinda knew she in a way suppressed it because she was hurt by her previous relationship that left a scar

For the couples, I gotta say for the 2nd one I wish they showed how xiang ya had gained feelings for senior lin cause I do feel that it was random and quite rushed but overall I love their dynamic
I’m glad that kexin didn’t have hard feelings towards xifan when she got rejected by he suye and moved on by herself to a better path than a petty one

For the acting it was nice but I do feel like xu ruohan crying scenes could be a bit better as in I felt like she was trying to force the tears out but in the context of those scenes it doesn’t matter too much

Their voices did threw me off a bit in the beginning cause I kept wondering if it was dubbed over or not? But I got used to it and idk why but for me it was quite obvious that Zhang linghe didn’t really skateboard in those scenes lol

The cinematography is stunning and has given us so many beautiful shots of spring and their love and moments, it does not disappoint
Plus the soundtrack is amazing as well I loved it tho at the end everything is subjective but it’s definitely gonna be on repeat for me

To end this I’m sad it was this short cause I enjoyed it a lot, I know this is not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea especially if you find more healing and romance stories boring and lame but as a romance fanatic I loved it and honestly I think Zhang linghe really should consider more modern dramas cause he looked dashing in this drama
(Also hair theory is real guys)

We love a mature couple!

This is a great watch especially if you've been dealing with dramatic dramas recently. This is a very mature and secure couple! They don't drag out conflicts, and the conflicts themselves are realistic and relative to the plot.
We love a bestie who actually helps the main couple instead of working against them!
Highly recommend!

Highly Recommended

It’s like watching a real-life loving couple! I love how naturally they acted. The casting is a 10/10, and the cinematography is top-tier. The story flows smoothly without unnecessary misunderstandings, making it a soothing experience!! The soundtrack elevates every scene, while the pacing and dialogue flow perfectly. This is one of the best healing dramas I’ve ever watched, and the couple is such a green flag—genuine chemistry, mutual respect, and heartwarming moments.

P.S. Can we be friends? 😊

"Warning: May cause warm fuzzies, soft smiles, and gentle emotional healing." ☕️??

If you’re into dramas that feel like a cozy cup of herbal tea steeped with tenderness and sprinkled with wit, The Best Thing might just be your perfect brew. Think Gen Z vibes—but slower, softer, and wrapped lovingly in traditional Chinese medicine 🍃.
The male lead? Certified herb boy 🌿💘—calm, kind, and exactly the kind of man you hope shows up when your soul needs some gentle acupuncture. The female lead? Tiny, capable, and charmingly forgetful when it comes to her own prescriptions 😅. Their connection is already a warm hug before the romance even kicks in—and when it does, it’s a slow, nourishing burn. Just the kind of emotionally healthy relationship that makes your inner therapist do a happy dance 🙌.

And Grandpa? Absolute MVP 🏆. A wise elder with matchmaking on the brain and “you’re not getting any younger” as his unofficial catchphrase 😂. But even that pressure comes wrapped in good intentions and old-school affection.

It’s also a touching slice-of-life story. With the FL’s mother battling breast cancer, we’re reminded that life isn’t always a bed of roses. There are ups and downs, but it’s how we walk through them—side by side with our family and the people who care—that makes all the difference. 💞
I loved this drama and totally binged it! 🥰The main leads’ quiet understanding of each other? Absolutely everything. 💯💖

It’s a healing drama in every sense—gentle, sincere, with no toxic nonsense. Just wholesome emotional wellness, the kind that says: learn to love yourself first, darling—more than anyone else in the world—and maybe, just maybe, someone amazing will appear in the light shining through your cracks. ✨

Because sometimes the best medicine… is you 💖.

The best thing is literally the best thing. I had stopped watching cdramas for almost two years because they just were not appealing to me. I decided to restart with The First Frost but dropped that after a few episodes. Then came along The Best Thing and was I so happy. No immature leads, no dragging on of disagreements, adult way of dealing with issues, fantastic ending, I could go on and on. This was just a fantastic drama from beginning to end. I was kinda holding my breath during each episode saying to myself, no silliness please. And there was none. I really applaud the writer/writers of this drama and will be looking for other dramas they might have written. My score for music is that because even though I don't speak Chinese, I was dancing along to the music and trying to imitate the words. I could go on reviewing but it would be too long. Will definitely be rewatching and recommending to my friends.

Good feels

If you're after a series that is all about good feels, this one is for you.

Seriously, there's no rollercoaster ride of emotions or suspense. My emotions while watching this were:
my heart fluttered
I 'aww'ed a lot
I kicked my feet
Giggled/laughed
I 'yessss!!!'ed a lot too
And smiled
I cried once (and was in a state of delulu for about half the series 😅)

I really liked the characters in this including supportings, most are green flags.

Highly, highly highly recommend this if you like rom-coms.

If they bring out season 2, I would not complain. ❤️

The Best Thing – A Drama That Lives Up to Its Name!

The best thing I’ve done in the first quarter of 2025 is watching The Best Thing! This drama made me feel everything—from butterflies to laughter to pure joy. Every episode had me kicking and giggling, and honestly, every episode is THE BEST THING.

This drama also made me realize how versatile Zhang Linghe is as an actor. I absolutely loved him as Xie Wei in Kunning Palace, but I never expected to love him just as much in a modern drama! His portrayal of He Suye is completely different from his historical roles, yet he nailed it. Now, I just need more modern dramas with him!

Xu Ruohan, the female lead, also deserves praise. I’ve adored her since Perfect and Casual, and she did an amazing job in this drama too. Her eyes are so expressive, and her acting is effortlessly charming. I’d love to see her in a historical drama next—I know she’d shine in that genre as well!

As for the chemistry between Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan—WOW! Their pairing and chemistry was ON TOP. They complemented each other so well that I need to see them together in another drama.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted drama with no frustrating misunderstandings, The Best Thing is for you. Life is stressful enough—this drama is like a breath of fresh air. Watch it, and thank me later!
