cute & sweet light watch

i anticipated this show a lot & i had a high expectation for it but after watching it til the end i must say that i am A Bit disappointed. overall it is fun to watch but it felt bland like something was lacking.. chemistry between the leads were okay. which is wild bc xu ruohan and zhang linghe has amazing chemistry with most of their co-stars! story flow was good okayokay. xifan’s character couldve been written with more depth than just her ex-boyfriend at the start, and there werent exactly a heart fluttering moment before they got together bc it felt like there was a barrier between them until xifan one day just goes ykw hell yea lets get together. that might’ve been why i felt like their chemistry was okay-ish.. i wanted to see more of Her without a man in sight. feel like thats one of the off points ..and he suye was written out to be the perfect boyfriend like yea sure. overall it isss good and worth the watch but wish i couldve gotten more character depth. not a stressful drama to watch and v lighthearted if youre into only fluff drama!

Love and forgive yourself

Story:
The storyline is not in slow pace and i surely enjoy watching it during my holiday.
In the beginning, i cannot accept how FL try so hard to keep her relationship with her ex, who already ignored her even breaks up with her. But i think when you are in the long relationship, it is common to not accept the breaks up so easily, plus the ex not gived explanation about the reason of his action.
Enough with the past.
The relationship between the ML dan FL is so mature, they accept each advantages and disavantages, try to complete each other, no misunderstanding without reason and support each other.
Each ML and FL has mature action, so i dont waste my time to watch any kind of misunderstand and childish argue.
Acting:
Surely, the chemistry between ML and FL is so lovely,
i dont really like ZLH's drama before, but this drama is show his acting in good way.
For the XRH, i already watched her others drama, so i dont have any expectations to her acting.
Music
Silence Wang's song is completed this drama. I definitely add the song to my playlist.

Beautifiul and healing

not the best but definitely not the worst,
one of the most beautiful and heartwarming cdramas i've seen in 2025 so far tho!

what i liked:
The story:
its so realistic man. often with dramas they try to come up with the most bizzare out of the world way for the leads to meet and end up but this one? felt so natural and real.
i at first thought it was a ''love at first sight'' thing which i don't really dig, but it started as a little crush from the ML's side and blossoming into such a healthy relationship, felt so real no pushy situations that felt off just to push the leads together.
-The OSTs:
every song is so catchy and absolutely beautiful, definitely going into my playlist.
-The cinematography:
idk how to explain it but its filmed like a kdrama, every scene is so beautifully shot and holds great meaning, gave me a sense of calm.
-The leads:
goddammit both the leads are such green flags! usually you see the ML giving his all in a rls but in this the FL is setting the standards hella high as well!!
-The side characters:
so positive and funny, loved MLs fellow doctor in the hospital his grandpa, FLs friends and her parents!!

however:
-The chemistry:
it was GREAT don't get me wrong, but at times felt a bit dry and awkward, both the actors are great and talented,at times i was even giggling and kicking my feet y'know. but nothing extremely memorable, still very beautiful and inspiring .
-2nd couple:
loved them SOOOO much even with so little screen time they were adorable, just wished they gave their rls more development, still liked how nothing else interfered in the leads relationship.
-The ex-bf:
the infamous jackass:
his character felt out of place even though hes the reason FL has insomnia in the first place, wish they explored his character, his reasons for his actions and stuff, would've made us feel for the FL even more but meh.

overall:
watch this when you're traumatized or tired of toxic plots, its very healing and inspiring.
solid 8/10

This drama captures the beauty of spring and the charm of blooming flowers!

The best thing is a typical feels good, he fell first type of romance and overall... i thought it was good

what i liked about the drama:
-- cinemetography - nailed it so well
-- there were SO MANY FLOWERS i loved it!
-- visuals on top
-- healthy relationhsip with no unecessary drama or a villian out to ruin the the show
-- supporitve partner and parents <3
-- TCM was such an interesting concept which i had 0 knowledge on before, it was soo educational and im def gonna apply some of the remedies hehe :p (i want a doctor like He Suye tho :,<)
-- He Suye words of affirmation king
-- the OST were perfect for the vibes and the scenes

other then that the story was a very basic romance story! i did skip near the end which shows i just wanted it to end and wasnt as engaged anymore.
the ex i thought had more potential then was shown -- this story reminded me slightly of the manhwa Selfish Romance, i found the FL ex so interesting and he seemed similar to him here so i wanted too see more of his personality and character to better understand why was like that too her!!

SIDE NOTE: i cant believe this the authors true story but it didnt haave a happy ending???? whatttdguiid it reminds me of hidden love :<

The best modern drama I've ever seen

Glad I tried this drama before. Because for me modern drama is not my taste. Last time I watch modern drama is all about K-drama. But this hooked me up even when I watched the trailer for the first time
I have no high expectation because when the filming not much reuters there. But wow, this drama for me is 10/10
For real
At outside the story is so simple, but when you watch it further it's quite complicated. I personally like story that have similarity with real experience. I have similar story as SXF confidentally. So I can help to rewind my own experiences

Me who had trauma as her and not yet healing 100%, this drama is like a medicine for me. Hoping someday I'll meet my own HSY 😭

Lastly, i shall gave big applaus for the director. Love the cinematography in it, i could feel at ease watching every episodes, and the screenwriter for this beautiful story, and for the leads. Hhhh love their acting, how natural them being in each other presence. I can feel their emotion, their love. And i must say I am about getting diabetes watching them together 🤣🤣🤣

As ZLH fans I'm so happy cause he accept this script. Can't picture another HSY. And XRH as well ❤️❤️❤️🥺

A total stress buster

Majority shows, be if rom-com, thriller or sci-fi has already been done a lot.

What matters are the presentation and if the characters can catch one's attention.
I totally loved this show, the characters and the actors... literally everything about this show gave one such positive vibes.

This one is a total stress buster, and like i previously commented, you do not even feel like throwing your laptop or beating someone after any episode. Like the characters and story, the full show is like a healing process even for viewers.

Rewatch: definitely, it can improves your mood at any time.

P.S: even if you hate the actors or anything, you can still enjoy this show for its cinematography and the beautiful locations, So pleasing to one's eyes.

A Simple, Heartfelt, and Comforting Romance

It’s a simple story about a young woman, Shen Xi Fan, who struggles with insomnia due to the stress of her life: her dreams of studying abroad and a neglectful fiancé who treats her poorly. The constant strain leaves her restless, unable to find peace.
On the other side, there’s He Su Ye, a young and accomplished doctor specializing in traditional Chinese medicine. He becomes her doctor, and as the story unfolds, the two grow closer and develop a friendship.

Like any TV romance, there are a few bumps along the way, miscommunications that keep the plot engaging, but at its core, both characters are genuinely kind and caring. He Su Ye, in particular, is full of love and deeply committed to taking care of Shen Xi Fan.

While it’s not groundbreaking, it’s a heartwarming story, sweet, a little funny, a little sad, but ultimately comforting. In its simplicity, it’s just a wholesome and healing watch.

down to earth & fluffy love story, green flag male lead!

finished this show in six days, and that should be enough to tell you how captivating this drama was for me!
i love the leads and they have such great chemistry and compliment each others physical features really well which is a define must in calming love story. how the screenwriters weaved in the concept of chinese traditional medicine was just phenomenal, and was definitely one of the biggest factors that kept me wanting to go onto the next episode. there was a perfect blend between the storyline about their career, family dynamics and their romance. i do believe that this show is pretty well done in the cinematography aspect as well, since making flowers (or some cases the herbs/ingredients) a symbol really worked well in further enhancing the storyline!
i am glad there was only less than three toxic characters that are meant to create misunderstanding and a wedge between the main lead because tbh it would not be a correct depiction of what would happen in real life (although the whole concept about falling in love with a kind, handsome, a green flag, doctor who specializes in TCM is unrealistic, but not impossible LOL)!
also, seeing a woman in her late 20s going to get her masters, is quite uplifting for me since i have been contemplating about when i should take my masters. it has also taught me to do what i want to do, when i want and not let anyone else dictate what i should or should not be doing because i do not want to waste my precious years!

one thing that stood between me giving this show a 10 star rating was that i think that the overall storyline was quite stretched. this thought only comes from a personal preference of wanting the feeling of "wanting more of the couple content even after the show is done." However, do not let this aspect not make you want to watch this drama because it is very well made and heart-fluttering!

True to its name

This drama is literally the best thing. It shows the kind of love we all deserve. In all sense of love; significant other, family, friends, and people you meet along the way.

For such a feel good drama, I didn't expect the angst to also hit hard. I love how this drama delivered in showing up the lowest points of the leads and eventually how they overcome it. The process of healing is also relatable. It's never rushed.

Something I really didn't expect from this drama is how it has become so much better after the dating era. I usually lose interest when couples get together officially but this one I found myself looking forward to what sweetness they are serving next. I'm in awe of the actors. They really performed well because I'm so convinced of their love. It felt sooo real. Kudos to Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan. They're perfect as He Suye and Shen Xifan 🙌

One of my pet peeve in some dramas is when 2nd leads overpower the main leads. In this drama, I loved how the 2nd leads and other cast have just the right amount of screentime. No unnecessary plot points. Each has their own purpose.

Some may say this drama is boring and bland but that's not the case for me. I never skipped and I never found anything dull. I loved every bit of it. It's so beautiful in every sense. The cinematography? Cast? Story? Pleasing to the eyes and the heart.

It felt like I only started this yesterday. This has been my comfort after a busy day at work every night since its release. Highly recommend if you want a stress free drama to watch, if you want to smile until your cheek hurts, if you want to feel so single lol 😆

I'm gonna miss this drama a lot and everyone in it. Rewatch value is definitely high. I'll visit it again and again. My favorite modern cdrama 🌷💗🍃

A Drama That Captures the Heart with Romance, Tradition, and Chemistry

If you're searching for a drama that blends heart-fluttering romance, stunning cinematography, and a touch of Chinese medicine's rich history, The Best Thing is an absolute must-watch. This series takes storytelling to another level, delivering an experience so captivating that you’ll find yourself lost in its world, eager to rewatch every breathtaking moment.

A Story That Touches the Soul

At its core, The Best Thing follows Shen Xifan, an independent and warm-hearted woman, and He Suye, a brilliant yet reserved doctor with unparalleled expertise in traditional Chinese medicine. Their worlds collide in the most unexpected yet fateful way, intertwining personal growth, deep emotions, and an exploration of ancient healing techniques that add an incredible layer of depth to the narrative. The drama beautifully showcases how love and destiny work hand in hand, proving that some connections are simply meant to be.

The Magic of the Leads & Their Unmatched Chemistry

Shen Xifan is portrayed with such charm and strength that she instantly becomes a character you root for. Her warmth, resilience, and sincerity make her an unforgettable female lead. Meanwhile, He Suye is the epitome of an ideal male lead—reserved yet deeply passionate, intelligent yet emotionally profound.

There is something utterly irresistible about He Suye. Beneath his calm and composed demeanor lies a man with a heart full of quiet devotion. He isn't the type to express his emotions in grand gestures, but his love speaks through every small, thoughtful action. Whether it’s the way he looks at Shen Xifan as if she’s his entire world, the gentle way he cares for her, or the unshakable support he offers in her most vulnerable moments—He Suye is the kind of male lead that sets the bar impossibly high. His protective nature isn’t overbearing, but rather a comforting presence, making him one of the most lovable and unforgettable characters in recent dramas.

Together, their chemistry is nothing short of electrifying. Every glance, every subtle touch, and every emotionally charged conversation between them feels incredibly real, drawing viewers deeper into their love story. It's the kind of romance that makes your heart race and leaves you grinning at the screen.

Stunning Cinematography & the Beauty of Tradition

Visually, The Best Thing is an absolute masterpiece. The cinematography captures every moment with elegance, from the serene settings of traditional medicine clinics to the intimate cityscapes that highlight the romance. The integration of Chinese medicine isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a living, breathing part of the story that adds both authenticity and intrigue. It’s fascinating to see how this ancient practice plays a role in shaping the characters' journeys, making this drama stand out among modern romance series.

Why This Drama is a Must-Watch

Every aspect of The Best Thing works in perfect harmony—flawless storytelling, phenomenal acting, stunning visuals, and an emotional depth that stays with you long after the final episode. It’s the kind of drama that makes you laugh, cry, and believe in love all over again. Without a doubt, this is one of the most unforgettable dramas of the year, and for those who haven’t watched it yet—you’re in for something truly special.

Chinese Medicine and lots of flowers is an interesting concept

First of all, there is a lot of flowers in this drama and it is the most I have ever seen in a drama. I learnt all different types of flowers in this drama. Second, the incorporation of Chinese Medicine was interesting as it does represent some aspects of how Chinese Traditional Medicine is effective even in the present. However, people who are not into this wont enjoy it as there is quite a heaviy emphasis on this as the main story does revolve around this.

Music was very good. Silence Wang always does a good job, so congrats to him, his other songs are nice as well.

I think that the main reason why this is a 7.5 is because of the story. It was "too perfect". I recently finished The First Frost and in that one, some interesting things happened which turned it more into an action. This one was completely romance but I think it played out well considering the ML is basically just perfect and the FL did have some issues but they all got resolved in the end. Both families are quite wealthy so money was not a problem unlike The First Frost where there was a unbalance between the couples. In this, the couples are pretty much destined for each other as soon as they met (factoring apearance, personality and rich family background).
Also, the ending in my opinion felt a little rushed where they married. Episode 27 midway ML basically proposed and then 1 ep later they had a whole wedding going on. That was a bit too quick. Maybe cut out some of the boring parts as I was watching them at x2 speed.
Also was funny how the FL had a 7 year relationship with her ex then they basically broke up and then not that long later, she got a new one however her persionality made this an okay thing to do.
FL's mother was hiding her cancer from the FL. This was very predictiable as almost every drama does this but you can not expect much from a drama that pretty much has no downfalls.
Comparing this to When I Fly Towards You, the execution of this was a lot better as they are both quite similar with one being in a school setting and one at work (27/28 yrs old). Other than that, they both are supposed to be 'perfect romance plots'.
