I never thought id write a review about this drama which I attempted watching 7yrs ago but could not even convince myself to finish the first episode. Im guessing the reason was 1. The plot seems like childish 2. Was not attracted with the male lead. But why did I give it a 10? I only learned about Lee Seung Gi after watching A Korean Odyssey - I got attracted with his soothing aura that I now find him handsome (that I think im liking him better than PBG) so right after watching AKO I knew I had to watch MGIAG, I ended up liking it even better than AKO. Yes- the plot is not technically impressive not as accurate as fantasy novels like harry potter- but every movie has its own charm and flavor. And I have to say that Gumiho made my taste buds nomo nomo nomo nomo happy. How come? 1. I must say, impact of movies depend on which time of your life you watch them - by this time I really enjoy the characters innocence - vibe- positivity - that I wont notice any flaws. 2. For some reasons hearing Woonga’s voice seeing how positive his eyes are - reminds me of my youth when I was fearless and careless- It is refreshing to watch. 3. The chemistry of the main leads- none is over powering the other - they blended well. 4. The ending *spoiler*
I like that it’s a happy ending. In this time of my life where I take a lot of pressure being an adult - it’s inspiring to see even from a movie how everything pays off well in the end regardless of all uncertainties- mistakes- waiting. Woonga’s eyes deserved to see what he did not gave up on believing to see - :)

Okay this show was just so cute, and mostly funny like a Rom Com should be. I like Lee Seung Gi in this role and I think he does well even with the emotional parts which I wasn't sure he would be able to handle. I loved Shin Min Ah in this as the Gumiho, her ability to pull off child like and naive behavior was great.

I hated Hyo Min's character with a passion. Her character had a very unflattering (much worse than troll) nick-name from me about half way through. I am not so certain that her character had any real value to the story though, and I kinda felt (several of times) that her character could meet an untimely end and it wouldn't effect the story too much.

On a similar note No Min Woo was a little bit of a disappointment in this. I love him in "Full House Take 2" and I felt his character was so flat in this drama (that said he was gorgeous in every scene and I can see why he was cast in such a magical and unworldly role- ???)

I liked that I was in suspense up till the end but the end was also a little abrupt .... "My girlfriend is a fox...." I also hated that the "goddess" shows up in the end but doesn't really do anything.

Overall the show was fun and entertaining. I enjoyed it, but there were just some plot/story holes that I would have liked fixed.

Romantic and Stands the test of time!

I just finished re-watching My Girlfriend is a Gumiho after many years as its now on Netflix now. The story, acting and chemistry between the two leads still stands the test of time! It's a romantic love story with a cuteness and charm that is getting harder to find in today's more high production and glitzy Kdramas.

Lee Seung-gi was just 23 & Shin Min-a was just 26 back in 2010, and were rising starsI This Kdrama brought them over the top and to the forefront in major stars in Korea.

The OST is beautiful and matches so well with the story. The bond between the the leads along with the pacing and throwing in the ost at key pivotal moments just fits perfectly.

Shin Min-a has some major hits and is still going strong with hit after hit gathering an impressive resume of great dramas she is a part of. But My Girlfriend is Gumiho is special because of its charm and romance for style that fits so well.

With so many Gumiho and nine tail fox dramas out there, this one is right up there, and the best in my opinion. if you haven't seen it, now is the perfect time to catch this timeless love story that won't disappoint the hopeless romantic in all of us!

A long 16 episodes for so little payoff

I wanted to like this, Shin Min Ah is very entertaining. ML is kind of vanilla and frequently kinda dumb. Dr. Emo character is an absolute farce. It's a pointless character played terribly...like look at my awesome emo hair while I read this cue card with the expressiveness of a cardboard cereal box. It's a lot of dead weight for the FL to carry...maybe the comedic relief of the B couple can help.

Nope, the B couple is a total loss...no chemistry and no comedy make for a bad backup couple. In short, there's way to much baggage for Shin Min Ah to rise above mediocrity.

BTW, FL lead character is a gumiho...a mythical creature with supernatural powers. Interesting yes, turns out no...the character plays out as pretty much a naive little mermaid character (a story that is name checked in the show).

One of the classics of year 2010

I really love this drama since I first watched it. I've already watched this before and fell for it and on my second time I still love it. The mix of drama and subtle comedy makes this a unique series and a story worth following. Although there were episodes that feels a bit draggy, it's still one of the best dramas I've seen and should be watched by K-Drama fan at least once in their life.

The chemistry of the casts is also superb and I also love the OST. I can't get enough of the OSTs that I immediately added it to my playlist.

I really recommend this to all K-Drama fans as this is really a classic drama series. (Sorry for the lame review, I'll try to edit this soon.)

To put it in Mi-ho's words, I liked this very very very very very much.

This drama has been on my watchlist for ten years but somehow I never got around to it. Watching it now, ten years later, made me realize how far K-dramas have come production-wise but it was also super nostalgic in the best way.

Story
I really liked the plot. I've never watched or read a Gumiho story before, so it was very interesting to learn about the folklore. The pacing of the story was really good and never had any dull moments. Only the ending felt kinda sudden - I would have loved to see a bit more into the future and see Mi-ho's other dreams come true.
I also really enjoyed the side-story of the aunt and the director. I cried laughing at some of their scenes.

Acting
Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah have really great chemistry. Shin Min Ah's interpretation of a clueless, innocent Gumiho who is excited about the human world was really well done and adorable. And Park Soo Jin and Noh Min Woo were amazing antagonists, to the point where they made my skin crawl. The acting was outstanding all over, really.

I don't really know what else to say right now, cause I just finished it - I feel happy and content.

PG Rated

This is a classic. If you want to LOL you got it in spades here! But if you are over a certain age, I would avoid as it seems orientated towards a younger audience, painfully so! This is an early offering from the Hong sisters and their second time working with Lee Seung-gi, who looks very young here. The beginning starts off strong but then, not even at the half-way point it starts to flag and bring on the tired Kdrama trope of male love interest acting as a father figure to female love interest acting as his daughter (at 5yrs old!) We have very young, recognisable leads, acting cute here in an exaggerated manner. Towards the end I just wanted it to end as I wasn't that invested by then. I enjoyed the OST. Instantly recognisable catchy tunes for each character. The second couple got my vote for being over 40, having a past dating history, meeting under comical misunderstandings and achieving a happy ending. We have the familiar 'Little Mermaid' tale popping up here too...I mean there are lots of other fairy tales out there. I don't really understand the Kdrama obsession with this one. There are glaring inconsistences but hey it was made for children so just leave them to it! CUTE!

Very educational story about a s.x addict recovery

This drama is really about the meta story of personal growth - how someone who is used to getting attention via s.x is transformed into a human being with feelings

The college student FL was so funny with her "college girl" faces lmap

ML was pretty much cement so it was nice to see him strt melting

A Disney Delight.

I'm not jesting with the title. This drama strongly reminded me of a Disney movie. If it wasn't for Park Dong Ju, the entire drama would completely lose any sense of seriousness.

Don't get me wrong. The drama as a whole is a treat. We have Dae Woong, a spoilt jock, who runs away after his grandfather threatens to send him off to military school. While seeking shelter from the rain at temple, a gumiho tricks him into setting her free. Grateful for his help, she heals him off his injuries using her fox bead after he tumbles down a hill.
A shocked Dae Woong finds himself followed by the supernatural creature, whom he nicknames Gu Mi Ho. Unbeknowest to him, Park Dong Ju spins a plan of his own to get the gumiho back to her own realm.

I have to give it to the cast -- everyone where portrayed to a tee. I don't know who is styled Dae Woong, but he had the worst hairstyle in this drama. Or was it a trend in older KDramas?
I loved every single character, including minor ones like Byung Soon, Dae Woong's best friend. I loved the little friendships and relationships in this one. Gu Mi Ho and Dae Woong are the paradigm of innocent romance. It was funny, heartwarming, sometimes cringey, but endearing.
Gu Mi Ho was absolutely adorable. I've seen Shin Min Ah in Hometown Cha Cha Cha, but had to drop it as it did not interest me much. Also, shoutout to the Director and Aunty Min Sook for being the comic relief. Episode 4 with the wall scene will always be a memorable one. The villain, Park Dong Ju, was a well played character. He would've had my support, if he hadn't been stuck deep in his own prejudices.

The drama dragged unnecessarily after EP8 or so. Which is why this lost it's chance to score a solid 8. But, I can see why this is appealing to many out there. You don't get much stress free minus all the angsty dramas out there anymore.

First of all I didn't see this drama draggy as many said
It was nice, logical and funny
With cute romance and strong plot
But sure it has it's flaws

The end was annoying for they must be separated for no reason in my opinion
Because the grandmother promised if the gumiho finds herself a husband she will turn her to human and leave her at earth

The character of min woo was extremely Annoying and selfish
I saw him an enemy friend , a snake in a smooth way
He didn't help her actually he was just trying hard to take her away from seung gi to himself

What bothered me as hell that B**** soo Jin she didn't have any punishment for what she did

The main sad song was amazing I like it a lot
What surprised me so much was one of the main background track music was stolen from Egyptian song was released at 2004

Really recommend drama , I loved it

The story is really good and although some people say that the beginning dragged, I didn't think so. I enjoyed all of this kd. The romance between Min Sook and Ban is so cute!!! They are funny and lovable characters.

The actors were all good except Park Soo Jin. What is with her having one expresion for all emotions? No Min Woo was dark, mysterious and sexy as Park Dong Joo. I really enjoyed his part in this KD. I thought LSG and Min Ha had a great chemistry and their romance was "to die for".

The music is really good and appropriate for the scenes.

I would rewatch this in a heartbeat!!! Hope you enjoy!!!
