Honestly, I don't see what is so good about this show.
Ha. This drama was such a major waste of time. I didn't like the characters, the plot was literally non existent and the whole drama was soooo dragged out.Okay first, the characters. I don't get why so many people love this drama, but Situ Mo (FL) was so irritating that I wanted to DIE. Like, how can she just demand that Gu Wei Yi (ML) understand her when she doesn't even talk about her problems?? Does she think he can read her mind?? I dislike her character to the point that my only lasting impressions are of her whining, being mean to Gu Wei Yi and eating 螺蛳粉. Gu Wei Yi was fine, but aside from being the ML, I feel that you can take him out of the whole drama and replace him with a scarecrow and the plot still won't affected (save all his unnecessary lab scenes). And don't even get my started on Fu Pei. Oh my gosh. If there is a prize for the most annoying character ever, it would be Fu Pei. I didn't like his personality, I didn't like his story. His scenes were irrelevant and boring I found myself skipping all of them towards the end.
This brings me to the second issue: the plot. I felt like the plot is completely non-existent. I didn't even know where this show was going half the time. What were the aims of this drama? What purpose did each episode serve? I honestly have (present tense) no clue. The whole story was flat and thinking back, I have ZERO recollection of characters speaking in the drama. The first thing I think about is Situ Mo's whiny face. Urg. I read in a review that "Gu Wei Yi's arc at the end was completely unnecessary" (or something like that) and I had to pause and think, what arc?
Which leads to the third point: the dragged out plot. This drama definitely did not need 24 episodes and I suffered through the entire thing just PRAYING that there would be some sort of miraculous twist at the end that would save the drama. Nope. I have very very little recollection about this show as I actually watched it half a year ago (I think??) But I do remember having high expectations for it, expectations that this show did not live up to .
Okay, so maybe I'm a bit prejudiced towards this show because of how much I detest Situ Mo, and although I've flamed it so much, I don't hate this drama, I just uh... strongly dislike it. It's literally all fluff and no substance and honestly? Whenever I watch dramas now, I watch it with the assurance that can never surpass Put Your Head On My Shoulder.

I feel this is a feel-good drama to binge on a weekend, specially if you're feeling down or just want to feel all fluffy. The story is well-paced an fun to watch. It's great seeing these characters going through their day-to-day and start being adults together. Another thing to note is that is sweet that the story is about a clueless math guy chasing a clueless Doraemon-obsessed girl.
The acting was good and natural, which is all you're looking for in a drama like this, and the chemistry was good between the main characters.
There is stuff I could nitpick about this drama, like secondary stories, or the excessive amount of innocence, but I think the good outweighs the bad.
Be prepared for the cutesy-fest!

Overhyped
I was hesitant to watch this drama but I decided to give it a try because I saw a lot of good reviews on it. However, I sorta regret it now. I felt like this drama was too overhyped for such an ok drama. The story felt very slow and draggy. It was good at first but as the story progressed I just felt like rushing to finish it to the point I skipped some parts. Not gonna lie, the pair did have good chemistry. But the storyline itself just felt really boring. One, there wasn't enough drama/conflict between the main couple compared to other dramas. The whole entire time, it was just full of sweet moments and minor problems but it wasn't like other dramas where there may be some misunderstandings and then it leads to problems in their relationship but eventually works it out in the end. All of it was just full of cute moments that it just started to not become interesting. I feel if there was more drama then it would've made the story interesting. If you call their so-called "love triangle" a conflict, I don't count that because that love triangle eventually ended in the middle of the drama and wasn't even that interesting. I didn't really like the second couple. They were also boring. So many unnecessary scenes that I felt could've been a 16-episode drama instead.
And also, I guess this type of drama wasn't really my type where they start as good friends or awkward friends and later turn into love. I prefer couples that start off as enemies or hating each other and then turn into love which I find a lot more interesting.
Overall the drama felt really slow, draggy, and boring. The drama was overhyped.

STORY:The plot follows your basic, this made the drama a lot more watchable because I wasn't constantly frustrated and think a lot with the characters and story. The story-line also progressed very smoothly but some of parts is not necessary. Its a typical asian drama with cohabitation but with a background of "college couple" so they didnt intend to put so much romantic scene but cute scene is point plus for this drama. Somehow, They dont need to drag the story.
ACTING/CAST:
The characters has their own color. All the female characters ( Si Tumo's friends) were really well done enough to play the role but unexpectedly the main male lead (Gu Wei Yi) is not good acting which is disturb me when watching his parts.
REWATCH VALUE:
I dont think I can rewatch it.
OVERALL:
Overall, this drama is too much for 24 episodes when they can wrapped it up to 16 episodes. Too much unnecessary scenes.

Agh, this show was so cute! If you're looking for a sweet and fun romantic drama/comedy this is the show for you. The main couple was so adorable and had such a stable relationship I couldn't help but always smile during their scenes. I really liked how they didn't rush into the relationship at full speed. They took their time and explored their friendship first, even though we high key knew Gu Weiyi was already head over heels for Situ Mo. I also really wanted to mention how although these characters were so different, they fit perfectly together. They didn't try to change the other person in any way. They embraced and loved each other's differences. The ending was so cute, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a light and happy show.

The characters are a lot of fun. I especially appreciate the strong female characters with their own goals, interests, needs, and boundaries, that are not put aside or compromised just for the sake of the male characters. I also like that it's a strangers-to-lovers story, not an enemies-to-lovers story. The male lead is initially disinterested in the female lead, but while he may be a bit impolite, he's never mean to her.
I will probably not rewatch the whole show, but I likely will rewatch some of the funnier scenes.

I literally could not stomach Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me, dropped it with revulsion after 1 episode, so this the first time I've watched Xing Fei for a whole Drama, and I was very impressed. Stupidly pretty AND a good actor - I hope she does more Dramas like this one.

It's OK
I only watched this show because it's short and several people recommended the show as the main couple are mature and incredibly cute. I love the co-habitation line. The story progressed well, but I found myself forcing myself to finish the show. It gets so boring once the main couple get together, the progression is cute though. As for the overall plot, it doesn't exist. Also no character progression, the leads were still pretty immature. The show is meant to also be comedic, but I couldn't even let out a smile.

Slice of Life, Sweet, Warm, Cute, and Hilarious without being Stupid
I don't know who came up with the drama description, but I almost skipped this one because of it, and boy would that have been a loss for me! To clarify, FL is NOT some indecisive buffoon who doesn't know what to do with her life. Quite the opposite, actually; she is very proactive, motivated, and methodical about how she wants to pursue life after college in terms of her career. This isn't some genius guy falls in love with dumb bimbo sort of story. In many ways, FL is smarter than ML; she just happened to not be a science major. What the description should actually say is that the FL realized towards the end of college that she actually wanted to pursue a career outside her major, and due to having to amass the credentials to apply for job positions once she graduates, winds up living in the same apartment as the ML. Now that we've gotten that cleared up, let's go over what's great about this show.1. Plot
The show is about fourth-year college students who are on the cusp of entering the adult world. They are young enough to still be innocent in some areas, but mature enough that they don't pull childish moves on each other out of spite. There are no dramatic twists, no angsty deaths or injuries, no catfights out of petty jealousy. The drama lies in how people who are in love figure out how to show it, and honestly? That's interesting to watch, because if you think about it, even though this seems very straightforward, if someone were to ask you to give them advice on how to approach someone they like but don't know if this is reciprocated, how easy would it be for you to teach them? Interspersed between this is the college life of preparing for a future while indulging in the present as long as it lasts. Characters have fun. Characters get stressed about the future. All things that anyone who's gone through college ought to sympathize with. The romance feels clean and despite the weird premise (in the real world I don't think any parent would set up their children to live together if they're of different genders, at least not in China) it actually feels realistic, and I can see a real couple going through something similar. At no point did I get frustrated with how intentionally dense someone was, or feel like we've taken a step backwards. Everything was smooth and logical and all the characters reacted reasonably to their situations. Watching this drama feels like skating on freshly smoothed ice, or sledding on undisturbed snow.
2. Music
I came across a lot of dramas where the music wasn't great. It wasn't even that the music itself was bad; sometimes the songs were great songs. They just weren't used well. Most of the time, they can be intrusive, and jar you out of the immersion instead of pulling you in deeper. The music in this drama features a rotating queue of a limited soundtrack list, however they all fit well with what's happening onscreen, and enhance the often playful, optimistic tone of the show.
Also, the sound effects. Puppies barking, kittens meowing, frogs ribbiting. On point, and just the cutest.
3. Side characters are enjoyable
And they don't steal time from the main couple! In many dramas, I've generally fast-forwarded any secondary character scenes (I'm looking at you, Dilraba Dilmurat from Eternal Love. Why were you even there? You added absolutely nothing! Just stick with the Pillow Book and stop stealing screen time from Yang Mi!) but in this drama, all of the characters contributed in some way to the main arc, even when they had their personal arcs. And the editing was such that when we did focus on their stories instead, it functioned as a much-needed change of scenery. They were also built up well; as secondary characters, they shouldn't be as fleshed out as the main couple, and the show doesn't try. These characters felt solidly like a supporting cast, until the plot introduced a question that only they could answer, and only then did the show flesh them out, in a quick, efficient way that was both sufficient and satisfying. It really felt like they enhanced the story without detracting from it, which is something many shows struggle with (like you, Sunshine of My Life, with freaking THREE romances going on at once. I saved so much time fastforwarding and I still didn't miss a thing.)
4. Good to relieve stress
This isn't a show that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Go watch Game of Thrones if you're in the mood for that. There are no adrenaline highs and no cathartic lows here. In the end, this is just a show about reasonable people with common sense who are good to each other because they love each other. Though seriously, how many (good) shows like this can you name?
