In Gansu Province, northwest China, the remains of prisoners abandoned in the Gobi Desert sixty years ago tell the tragic story of “ultra-rightists” targeted during the Communist Party’s Anti-Rightist campaign of 1957. Starving to death in the Jiabiangou and Mingshui reeducation camps, their fate is revealed through an eight-hour film shot over 12 years.
