A sweet but slightly messy rom-com.

I really enjoyed this drama overall - I think the casting was good and I love that it depicted such a mature and healthy relationship, however I had some slight issues with the plot. It felt like it was trying to do a lot of things all at once and I'm not really sure if it succeeded in balancing them very well as it often felt like the plot had completely changed direction to what it was doing a few episodes before.

While I appreciated the representation of "fangirls" who are older and not just teenage girls, this whole part of the plot ended up feeling completely inconsequential to me. At the beginning of the show this is such a huge portion of what the show is about and it kind of gave me the impression that that was what the drama was about at it's crux, but at some point along the way it was almost completely dropped and I honestly kind of forgot that that was where we even started. Duk-Mi's fan site was made to be such a huge deal, but then it reaches a point where it's basically not even mentioned again until the very end, and I'm just not really sure any of this was needed in the show as it had no real consequences on the plot or the characters.

It also felt like it was trying a little too hard with all of the side characters having feelings for other characters, when again these storylines beared almost no impact on the overall plot, and all of the sudden backstory we get at the end also felt like it was trying a little too hard and felt unnecessary when it was all just rushed in the last couple of episodes.

Overall, despite having some issues with the plot, I am glad that I watched it, and I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy rom-coms as I think that element of the show was very well done and the leads did an amazing job.

I read a number of reviews before I watched "Her Private Life", many reviews mention that the ending is bad in one way or another. This almost made me skip over this drama. I am glad I didn't.

There is some truth to the ending being bad, but that is really only concerning the last episode. This drama feels like it ended on the 15th (second to last) episode and the 16th episode was really just a flash back and where they are now episode, while also wrapping up a few loose ends. Was it needed? No, no it was not. Does it hurt the story? No. Was it boring to watch? Maybe a bit.

I only say all that to hopefully help others that were on the fence, about watching this drama, due to the talk about the last episode.

With that out of the way, on to the real review.

Story: 7.0
The story it's self is fun. It has many moments where I found myself laughing out loud, crying, feeling anger and over all just enjoying my time with the show itself. Some parts of the story feel cliche. Some gags feel over used. But none of that is to the point of making the show unenjoyable.

Acting/Cast: 10
The cast, the acting, and the writing was stunning. The actors all have this amazing chemistry that is helped out even more by the realistic writing that help lend to make the reactions and relationships feel real. This may be the first drama I have ever watched and never thought, "Why would they do/say that".

The drama and romance is handled in a realistic manner. There never seems to be any points where a character in the story does something only to push the plot along and that is both really refreshing and enjoyably.

Music: 7.0
This drama is pretty light on music, many of the scenes have none and I found that really nice. Not every scene needs to have music to heighten the mood and this drama understands that. It uses music where it is needed and in scenes where it makes sense. None of the music was overbearing or over the top. While at the same time none of the music really stuck me as something amazing.

Rewatch Value: 5.0
This is not a show I would rewatch. If I did I think I would still enjoy my time with it, but there are dramas with much higher rewatch value that it has to contend with.

Overall: 7.0
I recommend this drama, with the understanding that the story is nothing new. Expect amazing cast and acting, but the story is really just a place to allow the actors to shine and the relationships and drama to grow.

Wanted something fluffy and started this. Not dissapointed. True that it went weird at the end, nevertheless it's a good drama. Loved the leads, the friend and Shi An and the friend's kid. The second supposed leads were annoying at times. Why do kdramas bring masala ending at the end just to balance out the entire plot. I mostly skipped those.
The flamboyance lovey dovey will make your heart flutter.
Happy though I watched.
If you're looking for something just for relaxation, this is the series for you.

I was kinda skeptical on watching this drama since its not that kinda famous and I'm not familiar with the male lead which is Kim Jae Wook, but i fell in love with it since it's romcom and a bit of drama. I read some reviews that the second lead is somewhat unnecessary to their romance and kinda agree with that. But kinda annoyed how he got paired with Sindy not Da In as they have more chemistry than Sindy. Love how they communicate well and show supported he is to her hobby.

All in all, the story is amazing and love their chemistry, still never expected it to be mature.

I finished this a while ago

I love this so much the main girl is so good and ONE!!!! This overall was just a cute and feel good drama even the angst was cute . I liked their relationship but I wish they would have made the ending less fast paced and didn't have that time jump. I just think those are so tacky in dramas. But other than that this was a good drama and I would watch again.

Rom-Com Gem, Even After Years Later

Watching this six years after the release, and still this one is a gem. Why can't they make Rom-coms like this nowadays? The vibe is really positive. The romance is a bit cheesy, not cringe enough though, but they have clearly choose this spirit from the very beginning and keep this consistenly throughout the season. The comedy is able to hit at the points. The storyline is really excellent, though not flawless, as they able to emphasize the focus on the main leads (they don't even need second lead couple, though I hope there is). I love how they able to maintain this focus and intensity almost all the time. It is a bit off on the last 2 episodes though, but not destructive. The triangle love is quite forgivable because it is not malicious and doesn't seem like a product of hopeless additional plot. I also love most of the characters are very mature. They don't react childishly at something and try to communicate problems to each other rather than making some wild presumptions in their own head and then come up stupid decisions. Both of them always trying to resolve every misunderstandings rightaway and moving forward. This is really a relief because most of KDramas build stories on the pile of misunderstandings nowadays.

Most audience complains that Duk-Mi stops fangirling at some point. To me, she doesn't stop. She just changes her idol.

However, I don't really like the circle of Duk-Mi's friendship. They rarely give good advice when the other is in trouble, and instead just giving support no matter whether it is right or wrong. Duk-Mi doesn't really care when Seon-Ju fight with his husband, and Seon-Ju doesn't give any advice regarding Eun-Gi's feeling towards Duk-Mi. Also I am a bit disappointed on the writing of character Kim Hyo-Jin. At first she seems like the main villain. But after she sees the truth, she neither keeps being the villain nor supporting Duk-Mi. Instead, she just becames a supplementary character that appears as an intermezzo. Director Eom's rejection on the exhibition also resolves easily, making Hyo-Jin's character more useless. She doesn't even have a clear conclusion at the end of the series apart from still working at the museum. Her relationship with her mother, and her employment status after her mother returns to the museum remains a mystery (or forgotten). They should also add the scene of Duk-Mi going to Si-An concert before taking a break fangirling.

I really like both ML and FL. PMY and Jae-Uk play both characters excellently. Even though Min-Young kissing skill still wasn't really good at that time, to me they really have a great chemistry. The storytelling on each piece of art is great and also soundtrack is amazing!

I wanted to give a 9, if it's not for the last 2 episodes. To me the main highlight of this show is the consistency of the pace and intensity. I would still recommend this even for rewatch because up until now, it is still rare to find something like this.

So Her Private life was a drama that I had been waiting for ever since I heard Park Min Young had a new drama to binge watch and I was excited. And when I heard Kim Jae Wook would be the main lead oh boy was I excited. The whole idea of the drama is nice. A highly professional art curator is actually an ultimate idol fangirl and a artist who cant paint anymore. You would think these two would help each other and heal each other which to be fair to the writers it tries to do. But its more about how many topics i could get into this series. For example one of the artists their trying to meet actually lives in a cabin in the woods when its raining ( wow isn't that original ) and they have to stay in the same room.

The show was obviously supposed to be TvN's next big hit since they did a lot of advertising for this drama. It was supposed to be like another ''Whats Wrong with Secretary Kim?'' type drama but it couldn't achieve it since it just didn't have the rewatch value that ''Whats Wrong with Secretary Kim?'' had. The script felt like it was meant to attract the younger generation more or even foreign viewers and as some said a little too many cliches. The lost childhood memory that seems to be popular in TvNs dramas were also there but this time didn't feel welcome in the drama. The main male lead is already an orphan and then the female lead has some connection feels uncomfortable.

The Characters also had some faults in the drama such as the second male lead is so badly written. The female lead had no interesting characteristics other than her being a fangirl. The real fault with the characters is their honestly so perfect especially the main leads even for a drama they're honestly unusually perfect. They never have any reaction to anything and get over things within a day. The male lead and female lead never fight and are okay with anything the other one does ( even when the male lead messes up ). The Second leads are all immature and have no reason to why they're doing everything. The sub stories are uninteresting and predictable.

Honestly I did enjoy the drama though I have not said many good things about it. Its fun at first but you do just want to finish and get it out of the way rather than anything. The main problem with this drama is rather than the fact of the story its more about the lazy scriptwriting and adding twists at the wrong time. I might've given it 9 if not for the last episode that just has so much in it. And also the fact that Park Min Young never shows her potential for art. It would've been a nice twist if you saw that Park min Young was actually a better artist than Kim Jae Wook but doesn't like to show her art to anyone. Something that makes her an artist not a curator. However it is enjoyable for the most part and not the worst drama ever.

Fangirling + mature romance = I like very much!

Being a serious kpop fan, I was intrigued by this show. What an enjoyable drama!

What I liked:
1) Fangirling aspect was done tastefully. This drama showcased the positive and negative side of fangirling. I like that main character Deok Mi is a professional in mid-level position.
2) Family theme was prevalent in this series. It's wonderful to see love that knows no bounds in the case of Nam Eun Gi and the Sung family.
3) Wow, the romance scenes made me hot. Kim Jae Wook and Park Minyoung's kissing scenes set me on fire.

What I disliked:
1) Childhood friends trope - gosh I wish they hadn't used this trope.
2) Nam Eun Gi was a manbaby. Compared to the more mature and sophisticated Ryan Gold, Eun Gi wouldn't complement Deok Mi. Gosh Ahn Bo Hyun really enjoyed playing this type of characters (Her Private Life, Yumi's Cell, Flex x Cop)
3) The second half of the drama isn't as strong nor interesting as the first half.
4) Cindy was an interesting character at first then her character became stagnant and not fleshed out.

Favourite scene:
When Deok Mi discovered Ryan Gold's secret identity and he asked her to teach him to become a fanboy. I love that the scene started off humourous then became sexy.

Overall a really good drama, but the "backstory" didn't fit

This drama was super cute and funny. The soundtrack is one of the catchiest I've heard too. However, I think the backstory was a bit too much for what should have essentially been a light and funny drama. It was unexpected for me since none of the other events of the drama showed that the characters would end up having that tragic of a backstory. It didn't exactly fit in with the original vibe that the drama established. However, for the most part it really is an enjoyable watch, so I do recommend it.

"Her private life"
They were a couple of things that I liked and disliked about this drama
• First, I finally got to watch some romance by (Kim Jae Wook)
• Second, I actually enjoyed the romance and chemistry between the main cast.
• Third, because I'm a fangirl myself I get that kind of love for your idol

The story itself was started nicely but as it kept going it became a bit slow and boring.

Her private life was one of those dramas that had nice and fluffy romance but also had a lot of cliches witch I think it has been used for such a long time now.

So to make this short in my opinion this drama was another typical romance that honestly you can't expect too much from but for spending some free time it can be a good choice

I didn't like the first part that I had seen,

I didn't like the first part that I had seen, I thought it was going to be very silly and ridiculous. But I forced myself to look at it and now I am very satisfied with my decision. It had a very beautiful dialogue and the characters of the series were really tangible. I liked this series much more than I thought. I even watch some sequences and parts again.
In the whole series, I think it was very good in its genre and I recommend it
