The plot melts rather fast!
I seriously fail to understand why an established actor like Ji Chang Wook took up a drama like this which fails to fall in either Fantasy, Romantic, Time travel or Sci - Fi genre. It is more like a scientific experiment gone wrong...I really liked many of Ji Chang Wook's previous dramas like Healer, Empress Ki and even The K2. After a seriously okayish Suspicious Partner in 2017, He returned with this dud in 2019. There were so many hopes pinned on this drama by his fans which was touted as his comeback after military stint of 2 years.
Ji Chang Wook looks disinterested and has a dead pan expression throughout in most of the scenes and the chemistry between the leads is visible only in the later episodes.
Rewatch value? This drama doesn't even have 'watch it once' value.
Do yourself a favour and please skip this one!

Well, I liked it at least
While it fell victim to the expected cliches and there was some storytelling shorthand and continuity issues that made me cringe, the things I liked about this drama i really liked. The first episode was messy and i wasnt fully on board until after the time skip. They had to rush to try and set up a whole cast of characters all at once, establish character motivations and get the plot rolling. It just wasnt well done.
After that, if you go in expecting immediate romcom hijinks you're in for dissapointment as the seriese doesnt really get the romance ball rolling until about episode five. Romance isnt the driving plot for much of the story.
I didnt dislike this, though, as it gave us a chance to get to know the characters seperately and watch them adjust to their new surroundings. this was the part of the story i found the most compelling.
While they did play into much of the same easy technology/slang jokes all dramas in this out-of-time genre use, they also confronted the culture shock and awkward new family dynamics with a lighthearted thughtfulness i dont always see in time travel stories. Maybe its because ive lived abroad before that i found this so compelling. It immediately drew me in.
The identity crisis around age and having to figure out how to fit into old and new relationships at home and at work/school felt very real to me and i didnt hate the different ways the two families reacted differently and how they were affected by their lost family members differently. Ma Dongs crisis over how to speak to his younger siblings now that theyre older than him was intereating.
A particular moment that was played for laughs but really stuck with me was early on when Min Ra first confronts Ma Dong and they both end up crying together over their new circumstances. They hid some really genuine moments behind cheap laughs.
I also enjoyed the way they always snuck in little ways their new condition affected their lives very consistently, whether it be as suble as sipping an iced drink or as heavy handed as their fitbits beeping when they get to close. This constant reminder of not just the huge health risk ever present but all the little everyday inconveniences really helps the viewer deeply understand why they want to risk a cure so we can get excited with them when Ma Dong goes through the process.
As for the romance, i liked it. I dont hate that there wasnt a long will they/wont they. The characters werent total assholes to eachother and when it became clear there was some mutual attraction, both sides acknowlesged it and didnt fight it all that much. The beginnings were understated. I like this kind of thing. The story doesnt have to rely on their relationship to create drama. Lord knows there was enough with murderers on the loose.
My least favorite cliche is letting huge lies and misunderstandings fester into horrible problems that characters overreact to. Any misunderstandings got cleared up fairly quickly with the characters discussing things like adults. They both liked lieing to eachother and being stupidly noble but the lies always got revealed quickly and with no melodrama involved. Some may call this boring, i say its a relief.
As for the ending, its a mixed bag buy overall fine.
While i could have done without the stabbing and melodramatic pining in the eleventh hour, i found the later half of the last episode interesting as it played into Min Ra's feeling of lost time and Ma Dong's emotions as someone, at this point, ten years older and at a different life stage than her. I appreciated that nobody "won" the marriage agrument but rather they both empathized with the other party and found a compromise together. The youtube channel, while cheesy, tied the bow on that whole semi-sub-plot i thought would go nowhere. It didnt completely fall appart like a lot of dramas in their last episode, though they did unnecessarily cram a bit too much into the final stretch. They tied up all the important bits.
While this drama is apparently not for everybody, it made me think and i had a good time.

Beautiful story.
I enjoyed watching every episode. Really loved both ML and FL. Their acting skills are amazing. Ji Chang Wook can play exceptionally well in any roles. Beautiful journey of love. FL is playing her role very well as well. There is a strong chemistry between ML and FL. It’s emotional to watch them together.Despite redundant lines by many supporting characters, the main characters and their story are great.
Music was lovely. It is very nice to see JCW again after he returned from his military service.

Plot: Lets be real this show had a couple of plots, and did a real good job of running them into the ground, or dragging on scenes for eternity. There were plot holes you could bury bodies in, and little explanation where it would have done us good to have some. I needed motives, motivation, and the will not to skip, but even then managed to persevere. That being said there were many scenes I found satisfying and heartwarming.
Cast/ Relationships: To me this was the saving grace of the drama. The main and supporting cast were so good. I did take issue with Hayoung’s character, but other than that I loved it. The families were sweet and endearing, without wandering into contrived. I felt the care and love, and it never once felt stilted. It made me think of how much I loved the cast of ‘Oh My Venus’. They aren’t quite on that level of chemistry, but the cast and relationships were the reason I stuck around.
Music: I only liked one song which was by K.Will, and all the other ones weren’t that remarkable. In fact for once I found myself annoyed by the music.
Overall this drama is re-watchable, but I think it would be only when I want to cry or miss my mom. As I said the cast is the shining point, but there were definitely parts where you could tell they were going for comedy, but I was just annoyed or frustrated. Hands down the one time I got annoyed was with the drag at the end episodes... I was literally waiting for what happens next. I listed over 15 different ways it could go over a half hour period while muttering..” oh... here we go.” Only to have to wait more for the pivotal moment.
Either way hate it or love it.. the show has good parts. It’s a decent middle of the road kdrama, but it doesn’t stop me from liking it.

I liked.
Romance element delivered. Writer Baek Mi Kyung gave viewers romance. Our couple initially didn’t gravitate to each other, but their mutual health issues, and the fact that no one else could understand what each was going through was the bond that drew these two together. Then they grew to appreciate each other and that turned into romance. The progression to romance was believable, the couple appealing, you liked them individually and rooted for them to overcome the challenges. The leading man and lady were strong but realized that together they were stronger.
Leading man Ma Dong Chan (Ji Chang Wook). After being frozen for 20 years, Dong Chan found the current world greatly changed – technology, the strength of his family, the fact that the world did not know what happened to him. Dong Chan had to be disappointed with his support unit (family, friends, co-workers). But he dusted himself off, and plugged himself back into life. The side effects of unfreezing created guilt because he persuaded Mi Ran to do the experiment with him. Their similar situation created the bond that grew and evolved as the struggled to deal with their new reality. After an absence from kdramas to fulfil his mandatory military service, I hoped that his first kdrama would be a worthy platform for his talents. While this kdrama had issues, Ji Chang Wook delivered a character that was determined to find the truth and built a new version of himself that was more sensitive to others. It has to be said, Ji Chang Wook delivers good kisses and is flat out appealing.
Leading lady Go Mi Ran (Won Jin Ah). I’d never seen this actress in a kdrama. Thanks to Writer Baek, Mi Ran was a strong woman. She told it like it was and didn’t take guff from others, calling out those needed it. Mi Ran adapted to the future better than the leading man Dong Chan. She had a supportive family and friends that were able to better deal with the fact that she hadn’t changed for 20 years while they all got older. Mi Ran’s relationship with her brother Nam Tae had heart. Her parents patiently waited for Mi Ran and never gave up hope. All that’s good but the romance was the exemplar for Mi Ran. She didn’t shy away from him. She realized he was worth pursing, fighting and sacrificing for. I must commend Woh Jin Ah for actively participating in the kiss scenes, something lacking in many kdrama actresses who practice lip pressing and don’t appear to engage in or seem to enjoy kissing.
OST. This drama’s OST had six vocal songs. My favorite song was Right in Front of You but there are several good songs in this OST.
Track list:
1. Right In Front Of You sung by K.Will
2. You Have to Tell Me sung by Yeonjung
3. When Love Passes By sung by Ji Chang Wook
4. Ice Doll sung by Parc Jae Jung
5. Drip Drip sung by Seo Yoo Na
5. Fresh sung by Hoody

Resenha Melting me Softly

Akting mereka bagus,
Kalo ji chang wook sih aku suka
But afterall they did a great job
