The characters lack personality and the story is way too simple and predictable.

Simplistic and cliché Korean drama that, while not groundbreaking, can still provide a comforting and easy-to-watch experience for viewers seeking a lighthearted romance.

The drama follows familiar tropes and plotlines, often adhering to predictable scenarios that are common in the genre. This lack of originality might disappoint those looking for a more innovative storyline.

Despite its lack of complexity, the drama does offer a certain level of charm. The characters' interactions and relationships, although formulaic, are still enjoyable to watch, especially for those who appreciate straightforward and uncomplicated romantic narratives.

I'm writing this review for My First First Love as a whole (part 1 and 2)

This is an extremely slow-paced coming-of-age drama about five 20-somethings with crappy parents.

If you don't like slow-paced, character driven dramas, you may find this a tad boring.
I don't mind slow-paced dramas usually, but this one was on the verge of boring.
The thing that saved it for me were the supporting characters Ga-Rin and Hun who were funny, sweet and had really interesting backstories and struggles. They were so endearing.

Our main girl Song-i (played by Jung Chae-Yeon) didn't have any chemistry with neither Do-Hyun nor Tae-O.
She had a very sad backstory but I didn't feel anything for her at all. I'm actually not sure if it's because she's a bad actress or because her character is supposed to be that meek and bland. I wish we could at least have seen her falling in love with Tae-O and more how her feelings for Tae-O are stronger than for Do-Hyun.

Ji Soo playing our main character (Tae-O) was the reason I started watching this drama. His character is cute and Ji Soo is perfect for playing such an endearing guy.

I actually liked the more mature aspect of this drama and I also liked that this drama is about friendship and friends being there for each other in hard times and understanding each other when their families can't. I just wish it had been slightly more engaging.

Love can be healing and painful

Please note: This review is for both seasons.

The casting was great. Kim Ji Soo as Yoon Tae Oh has great energy and charisma, and Jung Jin Young makes you sympathise with his character Seo Do Hyun. The female leads were also strong.

The story is a bit slice-of-life, although parts were too unrealistic. It had some lighthearted moments, some very emotional moments, and some frustrating moments.
The pace was quite good, and even if I could kind of see where it was going, I didn't want to stop or skip, but follow along as the story unfolded.

My expectation from the synopsis was probably that it was going to be a bit more romcom than what it was, so if you also think it can be a lighthearted funny watch, you might want to adjust your expectations more towards romance.

The second season of my first first love continues the story from where season one left it, which was kind of an open ending.

So, the second one was not as good as the first one when it came to the main couple. Sure, there was a conclusion and it was nice to see the progress of the relationship. However, I enjoyed the second couple the best. I guess they were cuter together and adorable overall. Plus, the bridge between the leading lady's love story was kind of awkward.

That said, the family drama was really good. It was nice that they remembered to finish the family stories of each and everyone character and they didn't use them just to fill in the gaps of the main story.

The acting was good as well, however, I still found the leading lady a bit stiff.

So, overall, seven out of ten.

A story that touches on all parts of life.

I truly enjoyed this tv show and have watched it several times. This story brings to life real problems that people have such as abuse, suicide, abandonment, loss and grief. It also shows you about heartache ,true friendships and love through laughter. It's a comedy that touches on real life issues but also teaches you it still ok to laugh and be happy.
There wasn't any major complaints. I do wish the second season could have been written just a tad bit differently in some areas. I love the sound track and all of the young actors. They were excellent. Now If someone could tell me where I can find this to buy . I would be ever so happy.

This drama I basically started because of Jisoo. But when I started it, I fell in love with it. The first season was quite simple and refreshing, but this seasons completes it. I loved the way they showed the love between Tae-O and Song-I. I especially liked how they maintained a line between Song-I and Do-Hyeon. And last but not the least the other too characters, Ga rin and Hun had a good part. It was a happy ending.
For those who like to watch lovely, rom-com, triangle-love dramas~ This is the one you should go for it.

Unsatisfying ending…

The main tragedy of this show is Do-hyeon. The fl played with his feelings the entire season 2 and essentially emotionally cheated on him the entire time. Song-i absolutely disgusted me throughout the entire season 2 with how she strung Do-hyeon about it and essentially just picked Tae-oh since he has no job or familial responsibilities so he can just show up whenever she needs a guy. The show writers had Do-hyeon and Song-i as a couple for 13 episodes and just broke them up so she’d end up in a rushed ending with Tae-oh. Also the amount she’d just blatantly lie to Do-hyeon was gross and she studies architecture yet can’t even set up a tent properly. Also she got warned about that creepy senior from Tae-oh and her best friend yet she still idiotically gets into the dude’s car *smack.

Also Tae-oh is incredibly immature, has no goals in life and barely studies, just spends all of his father’s credit card money and thinks it’s okay to backstab his best friend.
The show never addressed Se-hyeon’s cheating with other guys properly since she never came clean to Tae-oh about it. Also that whole ridiculous side plot about Tae-oh’s mother faking her death for 20+ years just cause her siblings were breaking into their house for money made absolutely NO SENSE. Considering how rich Tae-oh’s dad was he literally could’ve just sued them or idk just don’t open the door.
This show essentially teaches you that someone hard working and responsible doesn’t deserve a girlfriend since he can’t drop everything at a moment’s notice unlike *cough cough* spoilt privileged brats.

(Writing based on both seasons)

This drama had some cookie-cutter cliches (Family secrets, love triangle, friends to lovers) and was unrealistic, but I loved it anyway! I really needed a lighthearted rom-com to brighten up my summer and this drama did just that. The general plot was decent, but the show seemed to be driven more by the characters personal stories, which makes it a pleasant watch. I almost felt like a kid watching this, wishing I could have similar experiences as the characters. It really made me feel the excitement I felt when I first started watching dramas in 2013. While this show isn't groundbreaking or my #1, it did remind me why I like rom-coms in the first place. Also, there were no annoying conglomerate schemes to ruin the vibe. Give it a chance! Big thanks to all the actors/actresses, set workers, etc. who brought us this drama!

love the bond they all have.

I love the bond they all have. Everyone has their own path and interest. They support each other and try to be there for one another and that is exactly how Song I and Tae O relationship is.
It took a while for them to realize their own feelings that it was more than just case they had for one another.
Do Hyeon red flags were just growing and growing for me.
If they had decided to stay together, I know for sure he would not be 100% happy because of his insecurities.
Like he knew they were friends since 3.
I am glad Song I and Tae O were able to be honest with each other and enjoy their relationship even more now.

Very frustrating

I'm very, very pissed off! I'm used to watch all kind of love triangle and all different situations (friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, just met, etc). However, this one is somehow annoying from the beginning... I'm good with them not realising their lateral love until someone else appears BUT there are so many frustrating things.

Firstly, they tried to "justify" why she is going to choose Tae-O. Through the drama it shows how Tae-O helps Song-I all the time while Do-Hyeon isn't in her worst moments but it pissed me off because they created the "perfect" boy: good personality and rich with no jobs, so he has always free time for being by her side all the time that she needed it. While Do-Hyeon was always working (or had family issues too).

Secondly, every time that something happened, they never explained to Do-Hyeon what's going on, just for creating the "good" reason (bad emotions) for Do-Hyeon's leaving. Also, the mobiles thing! That never works.

Thirdly, having bad situation doesn't justify you make improper things! Your boyfriend has right to get angry with you despite being in a bad mood.

In the end, they put Do-Hyeon as a guy with emotional issues who needs to work on it (fake, Song-I caused it) so that he broke up with her. He is a green flag, he deserves something better!! Undoubtedly, for me it's not a happy ending.

By the way, how about Ga-Rin? A completely unnecessary character! The one who messed it up and also who doesn't have any goals (just living her life without her mother's commands but at someone else's expense)! Plus, she has plenty of money from the beginning but she just wanted to be in Tae-O's house. Undoubtedly, they just searched an excuse to put another girl in Tae-O's house so that Song-I won't go alone with boys.

PS: I hate Korean's optimistic with regards to families!! Not every thing can be forgiven just because it's your mom (in this case).

Can't a girl and a guy just be friends?

Honestly, all the wrong people ended up together, and it felt so forced. What annoyed me most was that Choi-Hun is clearly gay - the actor was obviously asked to play him 'gay' and there was absolutely no need for him to get together with Ga-Rin. In the first season they were written as best friends, and that worked so much better. They were cute and funny as a couple but there was no romantic chemistry between them at all. Just let him be gay!

Speaking of which, the lead pair, Tae-O and Song-Yi, had no chemistry either. Honestly, it would be so weird to get together with someone you'd been childhood friends with for that long. It felt weird watching them, like brother and sister kissing. I think when the series began the writers hadn't decided how it would end, otherwise they would have done a better job framing romantic feelings between the two - particularly in Song-Yi's case. We had no evidence that she had feelings for Tae-O at all (it is possible to love someone deeply in a platonic way!).

It felt like a lot of storylines were half-heartedly left - who was the guy in the yellow car that Se-Hyun kept going off with? What actually did Ga-Rin's mum do to make her so anxious? How did Song-Yi start rebuilding the relationship with her mum, to the point they could live together again?

So much wasted potential!

Warm & Comforting

Thanks to Reddit for helping me discover this hidden gem

honestly, if you go by MDL ratings, you'd miss lots of underrated shows

I LOVED every minute watching this

idk how anyone would have second lead syndrome here, the ML was so perfect, I actually got annoyed by the 2ML every second he got on screen

he was so coded to be likable but his attitude irked me so bad I started to forward his scenes

the ML is the greenest of all flags and I think he has amazing chemistry with the FL

only thing i felt was brushed over was that the ML didn't discover the duplicity of his previous gf
she's my second most hated on the show

she was a cheater that had the guts to give him ultimatums ughh

anyways, thoroughly enjoyed this
pay no mind to the low ratings here
