Love this Drama!!!! Favorite one!
I don't know what people are saying about this drama saying that it's boring or it's "mehhh". I'm gonna tell you now that this drama is worth watching. To those who are watching this drama for the first time is very lucky and I hope most people feel the same! I still don't get bored of this masterpiece, like it's just amazing! To sum up the debate whether Han Seo-jun is better or Lee Su-ho, Lee Su-ho is obviously better for Lim Ju-kyung because he's just soo loving and caring towards her (I had to watch this drama multiple times to figure out my answer tbh).
I just wanna say I forgive Kang Soo-jin for her behaviour towards Ju-kyung because she didn't deserve to be treated like that and I really feel bad about her (especially with her parents' divorce and her studying abroad etc.
Thank you True Beauty for helping me heal with your music and characters and drama! I wish I could watch this for the first time again.

True Beauty has a really interesting plot. Even though the last few episodes seemed like a "filler" to me, at least for the first 10+ episodes, I actually enjoyed it and ended up binging the series. The casting, though I doubted it at first, was apparently excellent. Moon Gayoung was funny and cute, Hwang Inyeop was cool and mischievous, and Cha Eunwoo seemed to have had improved so much since I last watched him on "My ID is Gangnam Beauty". The side characters' casting was also excellent, from the parents and siblings, friends, to the teachers and all. The romance scenes are too corny for my taste, typical k-drama clichés where the main girl falls on nothing every 5 seconds and the main guy catches her. But I believe the highlight of this drama is the humor. It's so perfect. I laughed a lot and this drama brought joy to me.
However, for now, I don't feel like giving the drama more than 6 stars. It's just too cliché for me, and while the jokes hit right up my alley, I don't think it was meant to be that way by the production team...? So it's a good romance drama to watch because it gives you a lot of laughs. But it's not good enough of a romance drama because the romance is just meh.
After watching this, I feel like rereading from the first chapter of the manhwa. I'm also excited to see more of Cha Eunwoo and Kang Minah on screen. :)

Oppa choice disappointment
I heard True Beauty is one of those dramas that a respected k-drama fan needs to see along with Inheritors/Heirs, Gangnam Beauty and Boys over flowers. I've already seen two from this list, Gangnam Beauty one on the waiting list but the last one .... sorry but that is not going to happen 🙈 With all respect to the producers and fans of the drama but I cannot stand Boys' haircuts and clothing styles. I would die from laugh while watching. What is also special about True Beauty and what I found out while collecting pictures, is that the drama is based on WebToon! I heard so much about this platform and it's second time I see its drama and I must admit that both Mystic Pop-Up Bar and True Beauty made a very good impression on me. They have a very nice storyline and they take up serious problems and show it in a refreshing way.Because I way more prefer Ju-Kyung with Seo-Joon than Soo-Ho. I mean, I understand why she chose him – she can be herself with him, he saw her without make up at first and still felt in love with her, he was the one that lifted her spirit (and she did something similar to him). But I liked her and her behavior more when Seo-Joon was around. There was an obvious chemistry between these two! So many sparkles! Also Hwang In-Yeop’s (Seo-Joon) acting was on way higher level than Cha Eun-Woo’s (Soo-Ho). Even though both were quite natural with their acting, In-Yeop seemed to be in his place while Eun-Woo was sometimes robotic. In the WebToon, Ju-Kyung chooses Soo-Ho so of course the producers couldn't change that …. what a pity 😕
Based on that I wasn’t satisfied with the ending as Seo-Joon didn’t get his happy ending. At this point I share the frustration of other k-drama fans. Producers waited with him being rejected to the last moment and we couldn’t see how is he doing. Maybe if that would happened earlier we could have see him recovering from a heartbreak and would save me from the same feeling.
Is True Beauty worth watching despite Oppa choice? Of course! 😁 It is an amazing drama that I will definately one day comeback to. There are many memorable scenes, catchy music, the cast that in majority has a great and deep development. It is definately fair to say that it was one of the cutes dramas I saw this year with a oryginal script that I purely enjoyed!

Despite my good rating, I didn’t like it all that much
Will be some spoilers!!I am a bit late to the party. I dropped the Webtoon awhile ago and only recently found out about the drama. I have very mixed feelings toward it.
Characters: what I liked:
To begin, the cast was wonderful. I think they played their parts very well. Especially Eunwoo. At first, I began rolling my eyes at his one dimensional portrayal of this cold and almost tsundere male lead…until…BOOM. You see the reason behind his “indifferent” attitude. The story of his friend’s suicide as well as his family situation is heartbreaking, and the moments where he truly lets out all his guilt and anger were very moving and well done. The side characters were lovable and, for the most part, complimented the drama well.
Characters: what I didn’t like:
Our main heroine is not ugly to begin with. Like, at ALL. We can see that obviously, as she’s a model in real life. Again, she did a great job portraying her character, but my sympathy could only go so far as she was clearly very attractive. Again, all people can absolutely feel self-conscious or be bullied. And again, she did a great job showing the pain that results from it. I guess for me it was just annoying because they tied down her terrible, horrible, “ugliness” to what? Glasses and acne? And yes, bullying totally exists for these…it just felt stretched and could’ve been approached better.
Story: what I liked:
I really enjoyed how there was actual depth to almost every character. They have motivations, dreams, passions, pain. The story was interesting and unique. The cast made it enjoyable enough.
Story: what I didn’t like:
The execution wasn’t the best. That’s why I dropped the Webtoon too. The message is there, but it really is watered down and shallow. It seems like a bubble of really good looking people attempting to appear not good looking, therefore, making actually not very good looking people watching feel awkward.
Music: was okay
Overall:
Don’t watch this drama for the message, as “true beauty” really doesn’t make that much of an appearance. But, it’s a good watch, funny, and the romance is cute. Overall, it’s a solid drama (a lot of my dislikes are nitpicking and more personal annoyances). I do think it is a bit overhyped though.

BEST KDRAMA
I love True Beauty so much. I have rewatched it 5 times and i still havent gotten bored. Seojun deserved better but in the end he became an idol soo.. Honestly what Soojin did was NOT okay, But still lover her! The story and plot was literally so good. Acting was also great but my girl can be little cringe sometimes.. OST is still so good. Starlight and Love so fine are my favs for sure. Tae Hoon and Soo Ah on top for sure. Team Soo Ho and Team SeoJun because they were both so good for her but i literally cry everytime i watch episode 16. I dont get why people hate True Beauty, like just say you hate fun cutesy dramas 🙄Cha Eunwoo so fine 😍

One of the best Kdrama for beginners!!
This was my first kdrama ever and the best! It has a perfect sense of humour, romance and everything in between. If you prefer romantic comedies, this kdrama is for you! I have watched around 25 kdramas now but this is my favourite! If you haven't watched it yet, you're definitely missing out! In my opinion, the acting, storyline, humour, ost, and etc etc. is all amazing! Whenever I get bored, I just rematch true beauty. This drama also has the best love triangle, like it's all just sooooo gooood. Honestly, this drama is amazingggggg!!!!!!Was this review helpful to you?
É definitivamente um dorama que meche com a gente.
O Dorama é simplesmente perfeito!!!Assisti em pouco tempo e me prendeu demais!

A little different than the webtoon
If you've never read the webtoon you'll definitely love the show, but if you have you may be a little torn on it. I definitely still really enjoyed it but man... it left so much of the webtoon out! That made me a little sad. Actor / actress wise, some great choices were made! The main characters definitely fit the molds! I love Su-ho for our FL but I do wish we could have seen her arc with Seo-Jun as that I feel is where alot of growth happened. Hwang did a great job as Seo-Jun! I felt so bad for that character and just wanted to give him the biggest hug.Was this review helpful to you?
Unexpectedly good, can’t wait to rewatch
I honestly started True Beauty just to pass time and didn’t expect to like it this much. It looks like a fluffy high school romcom at first but then it slowly talks about real topics like insecurity, bullying, loneliness and feeling like you’re never enough as you are. And it does all that without killing the fun. It still feels fun, silly and romanticJukyung is such an easy character to relate to. Her fear, awkwardness, overthinking it all feels very real. And Cha Eunwoo as Suho… I was surprised by how quiet and emotional his performance is. He doesn’t overdo anything, but you feel his grief, the guilt, the way he cares but doesn’t know how to show it. It’s very soft, very human. Seojun completely wrecked me too, because you can feel how genuine his love is even when you know how things will probably end.
The show made me laugh out loud in some scenes and then suddenly hit me with emotions when I least expected it. The pacing is great, the chemistry feels natural and the ost stays with you. It’s not a perfect drama and it doesn’t try to be deep in a heavy way but it feels sincere and warm

Hwang In Youp stole my heart in this rom-com !!!
This romantic comedy is centered around the journey of Lim Jo Kyung, who escape from bullying thanks to the power of make-up. Over the course of the story, she will learns to love herself with and without make-up, while finding love and acceptance, even bare-faced. The rivalry and bromance between the two main male characters is certainly my favorite part of the show. There drama is full of memorable comedic scenes, some of the most fun involving them bickering. The story is not without flaws and required from me some suspension of disbelief. Indeed, the way the heroine is supposed to be considered as a super ugly duckling without make-up because of relatively poor skin condition and big glasses was not very credible to my eyes. I also really did not care about the secondary storylines of all the adults : it was a big part of the drama but I would not have minded for all of it to be removed from the drama, especially the romance of the heroine' sister. Removing that useless fat from the drama would have allowed the episodes to be shorter and focusing on the core of the story, making it better overall.
I clearly fell in love with Han Seo Joon, the character played by Hwang In Youp. I truly wish and need to see him in more lead roles because he is such a bright star. The character had the strongest narrative arc among the main roles : in spite of the writing, I rooted for him all along and that's a testimony of the good acting and charisma. He was indubitably the key factor in my appreciation of the drama as well as the root of my frustration when I felt the writing was not fair to his character. Next to him, Cha Eun Woo performance and character paled in comparison. I think his acting was not the worst but too surface level for me to like as much his character.
Next to both of them, Mun Ka Young was an excellent discovery : she had such a cute attitude and delivery of her lines in her role that I could not help to root for the happiness her character. I am very excited to see her in other titles. I cannot say the same from Park You Na who completes the quartet of main roles. I found her acting rather flat and the overall arc of her character annoying and cliche.
The production value was pretty great. The decors were colorful, totally fitting the girlish and youthful vibe of the series. The making and directing was very good for the romantic scenes, making them very swoony overall. The soundtrack was pretty good. I particularly enjoyed hearing Hwang In Youp sing one of the OST's song : fortunately, because it was used quite a lot in the drama.
I would recommend this to people that are looking for a romantic comedy set in high school. It is a pretty light watch overall with some good comedic scenes. It is not that deep but the overall message is positive. A lot of fluff, not that much substance but enough for what it is supposed to be. Even if the romance did not go in the way I would have wished it to go which frustrated me to no end, I still had quite a bit of pleasure watching the drama. Sometimes, that kind of fun is exactly what you need.

true beauty
this kdrama is very similar to my id is Gangnam beauty because, there is a jealous girl. that "good-looking guy" and shocking their both cha enuwoo and that side guy that the main good looking guy hates. and the main female lead has had something done with her face for example this kdrama she had freaking plastic surgery. and in true beauty she put make up on just to look pretty and in both of the kdramas she became more 'likeable' and people liked her more. and I feel so bad for han Seojun i was rooting for him for like all of the kdrama and I basically got hooked because of him. I hated cha enuwoos character, and the girl s kind of a pick me girl I don't like im Ju Kyung and there was no character development except for the toxic girl because she became nice. and Suho became more disrespectful and mean like im Ju Kyung is his property and in the next episode they pretended like nothing happened and they were all lovey Dovey. normally I like high school set kdramas but this one just set me off and I hated it.Was this review helpful to you?
