This drama has it all!

This drama was simply perfect. I signed up at kisskh just to be able to write this review. I've watched loads of k-dramas and quite a few c-dramas, and this one simply had it all:
Good romance (good chemistry, cute scenes)
Action and plot twists (not one episode was boring)
Fantasy
Great storyline
Drama (shed a few tears)
Comedy (the drama made me laugh out loud many times)
Life lessons
Handsome/pretty actors and actresses
This one really is a gem! I applaud the writers for making every single episode exciting. This drama became one of my favourites instantly. Even if you're not a big fan of period pieces (like me), this remains a must watch!

The synopsis enticed me into eagerly watching the drama. It started out interesting with a typical screenwriter transported into her story in a dreamlike state (similar to Scarlet Heart 2.) It was entertaining through half the drama then it started to slow a bit and then it got to a point where my attention started straying away with me fiddling with side activities like browsing and shopping. The main issue I have is that the antagonist gets away with everything including murder, I mean literally and that is disappointing. The ending was also disappointing as in not much effort was put into tying the dream side to the reality side. The story is very typical and just a little bit funny. The actors were great. I enjoyed the female lead the most. She has great comedic facial expressions, cute voice, and even when she laughs, cries, shouts, or get angry , she does not have an annoying high pitch effects that would send chills up my spine. I've seen her other works and find her to be one of few actresses whose cutesy acting is really cutesy. This drama is worth watching because of the actors, the story is okay but not a re-watch and binge worthy in the beginning half of the drama.

This drama was everything for me. As a person who easily quits Chinese dramas I was craving and literally begging God for the next week to come so I could see more episodes. The male and female chemistry was just too good. And the comedy was on point. The plot was new and really refreshing. I really loved how it was a 24 episode drama. All characters served their purpose and the story wasn’t too draggy or anything. Zhao lu si is mostly known for being in dramas that incorporates two worlds and it’s always surprising to me how she pulls them off differently every time. I also fell in love with the male lead. He’s soo charismatic and handsome. Wish we could see both leads again in another drama.

I love this drama. The actors did an amazing job. Storyline was great. Keep my attention and interest throughout every episode. The lead actress became one of my favorite actress and I am now a fan of the leading male actor. Love his facial expression and I thought he did a very good job. I’ve rewatch this about 2 times to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I would recommend this drama if you like corky, light, funny, and romantic dramas. Beautiful costumes and beautiful scenes. Supporting actors were all great and did a wonderful job.

Review for Zhao Lusi (❤ ω ❤)

I come to write this review for Zhao Lusi. She is my faviourite actress ever. Her acting skill or maybe her own personality is so natural, engaging , interesting and makes me laugh. This drama is for her and she also achieves this drama!

I've watched this drama nearly 10 times. Everytime when I'm not happy or down in life, I open this drama as a background music at home. Then I feel at ease. Everything is not a big deal in life. We can smile , laugh and feel love.

When I'm writing this review, I'm also watching her new drama on airing "Who Rules The World". Her feeling is totally different in that drama which is amazing . I read the novel many years ago and read it again recently. She is exactly the female character stepping from the novel. When I've heard this drama will be on airing on Netflix, I feel so excited for her. She's only 23 years old and her career is developing so quickly in recent two years. Which means she can get more rescources and produce more excellent dramas! Congratulations!

Overall, it's a very good, relaxed and funny drama. This setting of female and male is unique in Chinese Ancient Dramas. Very Interesting and thought-provoking. Thanks to the writer wrote a good script! Love Happy Ending!

ps. I love the all the clothes of Chen Qianqian. They are all so beautiful and perfect for Zhao lusi! I think they are also suited in modern times. (*^▽^*)

Refreshing, clever and fun!

This was a surprising gem. This is obviously a story written by writers for writers and people who know and can appreciate the craft. The lines made me laugh so hard that tears came to my eyes and then cry so hard that I started laughing again.

The chemistry between the leads was so sweet and engaging that it helped me survive a 48 hour fast (during my second rewatching!!!) The rest of the cast were also very fun and played well - especially Zi Rui, Bai Ji and Meng Guo.

I'm super impressed by the young actors in this show. All props to the comedic genius that is Rosy Zhao and what a charmer Ryan Ding is. Those two are just too cute. I really hope they come back in Season 2. I seldom want to see another season of a particular show, but now, I'm actually very excited and glad!

Highly recommended!

A Concoluted Drama Drowned in Angst, Not Romance

The show is a self-insert transmigration fantasy where a screenwriter trapped in her own script treats everyone around her as NPCs, manipulating events to follow the plot so she can return to the real world. What begins as a light meta comedy gradually turns more toxic as she uses her foreknowledge to control the male lead’s life, until his unwavering devotion forces her to confront the possibility that he is a real person, not just a character in a play.

As the story progresses, the playful premise darkens into something more uneasy. Her growing attachment to ML clashes with her belief that his fate in the original story is unavoidable. Convinced she is acting in his best interest, she tries to “save” him by removing him from the central plot entirely, but this decision inflicts emotional harm on both of them - he is pushed into a darker trajectory as his scripted role unravels, while she is comforted by a devoted love rival. Although the ending is sweet and happy, the payoff hardly justifies the prolonged angst as the romance has been overwhelmed by toxicity, with too few genuine moments to balance it out. I found myself disengaged, fast-forwarding just to reach the conclusion.

From RomCom to Melodrama

The first fifteen episodes of this show were truly amazing - a vivacious female lead; a brooding hero; hilarious sidekicks; fun shenanigans; and an interesting premise. It had enough serious to make the implausible plot seem realistic, and enough comedy to make it delightful to watch. However, the last nine episodes completely turned this lovable crew into the pain train of melodrama. It was awful watching the male lead switch from cinnamon roll to bitter adversary to the female lead. Even worse was the fact these episodes occurred because the two leads refused to be more open and honest with each other DESPITE promising to do just that. Sigh. The ending of the series was also rather a let down. I wish the leads had more time in the real world together than just a short scene at the end.

I liked Qian Qian until I didn't

I just watched Love Game in Eastern Fantasy and Love you Seven Times and decided to check this out. The start was amusing and light-hearted. The way she tried to save her own life was funny in a morbid way. I actually enjoyed the progression of their relationship....

Until the protagonist herself destroyed everything by her single-mindedness.

The initial plot was interesting. It was refreshing to see the whole gender equality disparity out in the open. I feel this show could have capitalised on that aspect instead.

Originally when I started the show and learned about this setting. I thought surely, this show could use it to show the disparity between sexes that still exist to this day. In the end, the happy ending would be them bringing both sides of the coin together and achieve true equality. I would have liked to see them happy. A ancient chinese romeo and juliet story.

I guess that's why I was disappointed.

The script being 'written' by the FL herself, she should know most clichés usually.... don't work...
The hurt him to save him scenario backfires 99% of the time. She should have researched these plot lines extensively in her job but it seems like she doesn't know how to write a proper script. She tries every single cliché in the book and failed spectacularly at all of them. Her one track mind ruined it all.

I feel like the show had so much potential to be great but failed to have anything of substance by the 2nd half when things got serious. They were doing well when it was just light-hearted bickering and conflict in the beginning, i think they should have stuck to that.

She wants to get back to her own world and thinks this world is all a dream. That's fine and understandable. But in the process she hurts a lot of people and doesn't care about other people's feelings and she doesn't learn from her mistakes at all. She's wishy washy and doesn't stick to her own beliefs. She turned out to be a hypocrite. She thinks everyone is a scripted NPC but still saved 100 'meaningless' lives. So how does she decide who to save and who to hurt according to her own conscience? She has her kind moments, but she's also quite careless and cruel.

The redirection of the original plot was funny at first. There were a lot of cute moments but halfway through I got so sick of the misunderstandings she caused due to her laser focus on herself and her plight. She pushed Chuchu and Han Suo together with zero regard for their feelings despite saying 'you should ask me if I want it or not'. Exactly, Qian Qian demands respect but doesn't give the same consideration back. Even if you consider this a scripted play written by the FL herself, I'm not sure who will want to watch this... Maybe she should change jobs.

I really like the artists who played ML and FL. Both are really cute and good at acting. I just have a problem with relationship angst and plot caused by bad communication and lack of care or respect for the other person. Which ironically, the plot is trying to address with showing that both patriarchy and matriarchy are flawed systems. I feel even as a light-hearted, shallow show, the writing could have been more mature and still have its funny elements. It didn't need to be deep but this is gradually veering into 'stupid' territory. It's the 20th century (or it was for her) Is anyone so dense to not recognise your own feelings for someone else? I'm sure as a working woman and scriptwriter she should be in tune with these feelings the most or else how could she still be employed?

TLDR: This is just not my kind of drama. The FL is just making things worse for herself and for everyone else and I probably won't stick around to see it happen.

I really like the actors but i think i will be dropping this series.

Immature and silly FL

I'm stuck on the eight episode because of all the nonsense that's getting repetitive. It was funny for the first two episodes but now it's kinda annoying. She writes the script, why can't she figure out a way to resolve issues without doing ridiculous things? She's too immature, and not in a funny or cute way anymore. SFL was way better character and actress

I am here to drop bombs, yes

Hello, I admit I did not finish the drama and I'm damn irresponsible for that- You may judge me on this later ;-;

I caught my sister watching this drama by herself and I was intrigued by how cute the chemistry between the main characters are. And that was how I ended up watching the series...

So far, I am so so so happy. Like this series makes me happy. And I think I'm VERY entertained. HAHAH
The opening song sounds pleasing to hear and really cheerful, I like how their song is simple, yet has their own personalities by the two singers. The male would be talking about how the girl is so cute and the girl will talk about the male. BRUH I like it ^^

This show is not longwinded and really showcases the character's personalities well and don't leave the audience confused. Of course, the actors played major part in making the show work out. I personally think the actors are well picked. I couldn't imagine any other actors to play their part. (Of course, your opinion matters) When the story started to feel real for me, I knew this show will be great.

In summary, the female lead is an ordinary hooman that is in a hurry to get her paycheck. (I mean ME TOO *crying noises*) She is the author of this story she came out with and is waiting for it to be approved so it can turn into a film. But the male actor who supposed to play the male lead role in her story commented on her story in a quite disrespectful manner. [Wait did i mentioned how funny this series is] He basically didn't agree with how biased and injustice the story turned out to be. Like how man "rule" over women in our world. The female lead wrote her story by flipping the table and made the story world, a world where women has more rights. To the actor, he sees this as no difference than the world we living now. WHICH I kinda agree.

Who cares, she needs her paycheck anyways and she died trying to complete her story without rest. Woke up in a princess body in a brothel. Woke up with richness and power, but she wanna go back home. REALised she about to die in the story she wrote because the princess she possessed is a no good-third princess. I bet you are confused right now, reading this review. I kid you not, my english proficiency is bad as hell and I'm tired like hell LMAO

SO, to not die. SHE DID EVERYTHING to not die. *cutely* Like why is she so cute. And the most funny part is, I'm amazed how is she not killed yet ;-; Like wow, you survived that huh....

Anyways, I hope you will watch the rest by yourself because I highly recommend this series to you if you are upset and is feeling under the weather. This series has choked me with anxiety and cuteness. Please enjoy.

(Why are they so cute? This is illegal*)

Another couple to embrace and another drama to go after. Chen Xiao Qian is a feminist screenwriter who unexpectedly gets stuck in a parallel world where her story has come to life (How I wish everybody can be present in a world they write). As a 3rd princess who's not supposed to live long in the story, she made her own destiny, strove hard to survive and meet and stayed with the arrogant-to-softhearted-to-mischievous Prince Han Shuo. Featuring Ryan Ding & Zhao Lu Si, whom I've already love since Oh! My Emperor and Love Better than Immortality, this drama will surely make every viewers laugh and cry.
