Great and awesome main leads; Hidden gem

This show in terms of story was a typical boss drama but the characters were really special. I loved both the characters, they were so clear on their visions. For both of them love was important but they never let it overpower their daily lives. One of my favourite things about this show was how the main leads handled the guy's mother. The male lead never disrespected his mother but was clear that no one can pressurize him to do something. He always stated his points clearly in front of his mother and other people like second female lead as well. In terms of handling people, the female lead also surprised me. The way she handled the second female lead and the mother impressed me. The talk with mother in the cafe was epic.

At first I thought it to be a above average typical cdrama but the more I see this drama in depth I realise that it had many unique elements. The first one being such mature characters. The communication and respect for each other in their relationship was solid. They were an ideal example of how a healthy non-toxic relationship should look. There might be conflicts and situational problems like long distance relationship but at the end of the day it is up to you whether these things will make your relationship toxic or you will pass through these obstacles while keeping your relationship healthy. This drama teaches you to live a mentally healthy and good life while being a strong independent and loved person. Totally in awe with the main leads.

My final say: A beautiful drama with many hidden messages. Even if you don't find all of them, you will still enjoy this drama and feel happy while watching the episodes. It is a modern cdrama of 2021 in true terms with respect to its story and character development.

Amazing Watch

I was a tad bit skeptical about watching this movie after reading a few reviews that said it was cliche but I have to admit, it’s a beautiful story. The storyline isn’t forced and I love how it progressed. I love how the female lead wasn’t made to seem so poor like most of the other rich man/not-so-rich woman romances. She had her priorities right. She wasn’t made to be dependent on the male lead (I absolutely dislike tropes like that)
It’s definitely worth a watch and I’ll definitely be watching this again!

A very sweet couple and sweet story

I was having my doubts watching this drama because it looked boring and it did take me a couple of episodes to go through and finally love it. The main couple are very sweet their problems once they are together are good and resolved quickly and in a mature way.

The female lead focus on her career most of the time and doesn't follow the male lead like he is her only purpose but she has her own life and goals. I like this female lead alot, her character is strong, kind and worries for her friends. She doesn't make dumb decisions or acts like she's untalented but she knows herself and for that I found the character very enjoyable. The male lead is also nice he is the "I'm serious with everybody but you" which you see repeatedly on the drama cause he makes alot of sweet and flirty remarks when he is alone with the female lead anytime he gets the opportunity also the kiss scenes are so good. Atleast for me kissing scenes that actual involve lip movement is much more enjoyable than just standing and lips touching which is quite boring.

The villains in this drama are highly annoying but well written. But I disliked them so much that once they have their ending I could only enjoy one out of the two which is Xia Biaman ending because she very much deserved it. The other girl once I saw she would get another guy I couldn't go through like she was straight up rude to Mo Fei for 40 episodes and now that she found another guy I'm suppose to like her? Hell nah I skipped her parts. Highly annoying character but she did add spice to the drama.

Idk if just me but the music of this drama is so good, the ending ost and beginning ost I find them different from other dramas but I like it so so much could listen to this son's everyday while doing soenthing productive.

I recommend this drama alot for people that look for character growth with no necessary over the top drama but small experiences that happen that make you grow up in career and love life. I wouldn't say this drama changed my life but it surely made me warm up to it and loved watching it.

honest review, highly recommend

this is probably one of my favourite dramas i have watched this year tbh, it is the most realistic one i have watched for sure. the ending is especially good in my opinion because its realistic - there isnt a happy ending for everyone, its not showing life to be a fairytale but instead its showing that sometimes we cant have the ending in life that we wish for. mo fei was betrayed by literally everyone in this drama , except from a few friends + her brother, however regardless her character was amazing because she didnt let anyone tell her what to do or pressure her to not do something because of what they think about it. I also really like how xueling character finally matured at the end because although i found her character insanely annoying, to some extent it is realistic in showing how jealousy can cause people to ignore rationality and just act rashly without regarding others.

i was not a fan of how xiaoyu character was written at first because he was borderline stalking mo fei however, her character was written so well that she stood up for herself, knew when to tell him to stop and made it very clear where she stands.

Besides this, i adored the soundtrack, i love how it highlighted chinese culture and went into depth surrounding it, its made me extremely interested in fashion now hahaha.

i really recommend this drama to anyone because it covers a lot of things which are very realistic in life, from relationships between family, friends and lovers to work ethics and following your dreams.

Tries not to be tropey but has the worst drama tropes

Why was this one of the best and one of the worst dramas at the same time??

The ML and FL are mature most of the time but everyone else around them seem to have the classic Cdrama script with common tropes of annoying rich MIL, annoying rich SFL etc. I hated how even the misunderstanding because of not communicating trope was overused throughout. The characters were not consistent I felt, especially when FL was wronged there wasn't enough apologies made to her by anyone including the ML (who allowed his mother to disrespect her WAYY too much for my concern).

Good parts were all I learnt about Chinese fashion industry, decent SML, cute flirtation including via texting between the leads, best CEO secretary relationship in any drama hands down and ML's acting.

Overall would not watch again ever and would not recommend. But if someone has started watching it - it is a nice one time summer watch.

Lots of very cute OTP moments with liberal lashings of Chinese Fashion.

The more I watch Chinese dramas especially romcoms, the more convinced I am that the Chinese Censorship Board uses dramas as a way of showcasing various aspects of Chinese business, culture and social life, as a form of propaganda if you will.
For instance in Queen of SOP, the business of major corporations was showcased particularly mergers and acquisitions, this drama also emphasised an impressive Chinese work ethic; Similarly in Here to Heart and in Love O2O, the Research and Development aspect of Chinese gaming and tech companies was highlighted.
It came as no surprise when I watched this drama and realised that it was intent on giving us a crash course in Chinese fashion, particularly focussing on traditional elements such as batik and splash ink painting on fabrics. I found this to be quite informative but it often felt preachy and inorganic especially the parts in France at the Design School.

That being said this drama offers one of the best OTP's I've seen in any drama, their interactions, communication, steadfastness and trust in each other is very refreshing; their biggest misunderstanding does not lead to a breakup and they're upset with each other for an episode and a half just about. I enjoyed this aspect of the drama, the maturity of the OTP cannot be over emphasised.
On the flip side I think I encountered the worst second male lead I have ever had the misfortune to see in any show, I mean this guy was not only selfish, delusional and petty, he also came across as downright unpleasant in many instances, he is quite unbearable.
The antagonists ( a bunch of females harbouring pathological envy of the female lead) are also very annoying and unreasonably malicious.
The male lead's mother is also a pill, I personally did not ever warm up to her as she is more concerned with her selfish wishes being adhered to than in ensuring her son's true happiness.

The fashion scene is quite interesting to watch. OST is amazing especially the intro song and OTP song

Overall this drama is watchable, I'm a fan of Zhang Han rom coms so I quite enjoyed it. His acting is actually getting better the older he gets. The female lead's acting is also good although I felt she didn't bring the level of emotional intensity required in some scenes, she skews more comedic than emotional, but it was a good portrayal nonetheless, I appreciate how strong she is and doesn't let people trample all over her.

A decent lighthearted drama, worth a watch if you want to take a break from the heavy stuff ; It's too long though and could have done just as well if not better with 18 -20 episodes.

I HAVE A LOVE AND HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS DRAMA

The headline is exactly my feelings throughout the drama. I love how they give us so many sweet scene but I hate how they have so many toxics people around them. I love how they teach us that everyone make mistake and have a chance to redeem their mistake but I really want a bad ending for toxic character esp Xiaoyu.

Anyways, I'll recommended this drama for anyone that want to watch a typical but not so over drama. Even the toxic is toxic they didn't do something out of mind to their rival. Nothing particular but love how they give us time to hate both main lead to show they're still normal people who make mistake.

Lastly, if you're not convinced enough to watch this, THIS DRAMA HAVE THE CUTEST MARRIED SCENE AND NO BREAK UP just a little bit misunderstanding but solve quite fast and logically. One obvious thing was actually the editing. I never focused on editing before but this drama editing especially about time is just too much HAHAHAHHA

oh yeah forgot to mention. If you decided not to watch because of "childhood sweetheart" between the lead lmao just watch it, that plot twist for me is so relatable!

I liked it, but...

Okay, acting, story and locations were fantastic. I loved the ML and FL, I felt bad for the SML, kinda and didn't warm up to the SFL. Leads friends were awesome and music was great. I kept playing in my head and I don't even speak Chinese. Only thing, only thing that really, really annoyed me was the French dubbing. It was really bad. Like i would've preferred closing my ears and eyes, but then I wouldn't be able to read the subtitles.

I love the FL quirkyness and the fact she knew what she wanted. She didn't drop who she is or striving to be just because she fell in love with the ML and hes rich. She was little to girly, but frankly, I actually met people like this. ML, wow. He's natural. I mean, you can see him really being Tang Ming Xuan. From what I've read about him (because I had to look him up), he is playing himself, to an extent. Together, I loved that it flowed, and after admitting their feelings, they trusted each other.

Cutie and bubbly kind of story.

Hi I'm here again. So to make the story short this one is kind of rom-com with a lot of sugar on it. If you wanted to have a very light and cute story this one is for you. The characters were great in doing their job I mean character. What I really like is that they make the drama simple yet entertaining and easy to digest . The music of this show was amazing. Although it is a mini series it gives us a very nice feeling and not confusing plot. The downside of it was that the ending was kind of rush (in my opinion). Maybe if they include a wedding scene it might become better.

Anyway this are just my thoughts and opinion still highly recommend this for you to watch if you want to take a breather to those heavy dramas.

Stay safe ^_^ LOVE LOTS<3

Sunshine of My Life is actually pretty good for a drama with the very familiar premise of a male CEO in the fashion industry and an aspiring fashion designer. (I mean, it was just last year that I watched Love Designer and Dear Designer.)

The romance between the main character Tang Ming Xuan and Mo Fei is very satisfying. There were a lot of sweet moments so you won't be suffering for 40+ episodes to finally see them together. They support each other's careers, they work through normal relationship issues, and they're unfazed by others who try to stand between them. Sure, there's some jealousy but they don't go down the "I'm not good enough for you" route or the self-sacrificing "I should leave because it's better for you" route. Zhang Han and Xu Lu had such great chemistry that I don't think I can watch Xu Lu paired with Lin Yi in her new drama. *However* Xu Lu does play the character with a pouty feel/speaks with an overly cutesy voice (I don't know how else to describe this) and if you can't stand it, then you won't enjoy this drama.

Although this drama uses a lot of common tropes, it uses them in a reasonable way that isn't over-the-top. Scheming and angst are pretty low. Fang Xiao Yu's actions did annoy me because they crossed the line (why does Hong Yao refuse to play a character that I like?!) but that made it easier for me to not have second lead syndrome. If there's one unbearable character, it's Bai Xiaoman and I skimmed through her scenes.

I did love many of the side characters. First of all, Ming Xuan's assistant Yang Guang had all the best lines. He was so funny and observant as he helped Ming Xuan with his love life in little ways. Lin Xin Zhe played this character so well. Second, the younger siblings Mo Fan and Lu Zhu were so fun. Lu Zhu could've easily been one of those annoying spoiled younger siblings from a rich family but she was so likable and genuinely made an effort to improve. (Although she's Ming Xuan's cousin, she's grown up as a sister to him.) I do wish Duoduo had been a more rational character, or at least have shown some growth in her actions. She was always so impulsive and Cheng Yang was so patient.

Overall, this exceeded my expectations and was an enjoyable to watch if you like this sort of premise! Of the dramas with similar premises, I'd recommend this one.

A MIX OF ALL( there's a lot of designing and PASSION)

I started watching this drama quite a while ago but then put it on hold because of my university exams, back then i loved this. Then after a few months, I picked it back up again, the spark was lost, I found both the main male leads quite overbearing, later on things changed, which is a plus. Mo Fei (FL) is amazing, she's quite childish yet mature, outspoken but knows to respect, she's passionate and confident yet kind, I loved her character so much. Few other characters who have my heart are Mo Fan fml's brother, he's charming and cute ,their constant bickering made watching it all the more fun, then ml's assistant Yang Guang ( if I'm not wrong) is the best wingman and led Tang Mingxuan in the right path when it came to his ventures in love. Her mom and his father are another pair of amazing characters, they absolutely are goals.
The reason I didn't give this an 8.5 is because there was a lot of unnecessary dragging in the plot towards the middle so I had to skip a lot. And lord knows how much his mom pissed me off, I get headache whenever she opens her mouth like Jesus! Other backstabbers were not fun either especially Shen Jiaxi, she pissed me off more than Bai Xiaoman tbh, at least a known enemy is better than a backstabbing bestfriend. Fang Xiaoyu was obsessed so he gave me a feeling of trapped but his reasoning and past makes it understandable yet not tolerable.
Now let's talk about positive parts, at the end even the evil vile characters were not hated, they turned out good, usually when bad characters self reflect and move on it still doesn't make me feel okay but this drama obviously did it, those actors portrayed their role very well. This drama discussed Chinese culture, designing, business love, family and friendship, it was amazingly done. People make mistakes but one must learn from it. Leads had amazing chemistry both first and second, there was a huge amount of support, love and very less cliché dating scenes which I loved, very few misunderstandings, lots of growth. In the ending parts, Fang Xiaoyu too got my heart piece( a tiny one though).
AND THE STARTING MUSIC OH MY GOS, IT'S SO MELODIC SO SWEET, I want to put it as my alarm but I know it'll make me want to curl up in my blankets all the more so bad idea.
ABSOLUTELY GO FOR IT...

Overall well made, although a lot of familiar tropes

Overall this is a quite well made drama, and worth watching if you normally enjoy romantic dramas. It does have several familiar tropes though, so don't expect huge surprises or great amount of originality.

Personally I liked both of the main leads (Zhang Han and Xu Lu) – especially him grew on me as the series progressed.
I also liked the 2nd ML (Hong Yao) and the supporting role played by Wang Xuan.

From my point of view I believe the story could have benefited if they skipped the subplot schemed up by Bai (Man Man), as that just was a bit too much for my liking.

Sadly, the lightning work and sound was occasionally a bit poor in some of the later episodes.

The soundtrack was a bit different, I would say, but quite pleasant to listen to.

This series fall into the line of C-dramas promoting (high-lighting) a specific topic or field; in this case Chinese fashion and culture. I don't mind it, but it can become a bit too much every now and then (too blatantly "promotional").

I don't regret watching this, but I can't really remember much from this show either now that some time has passed.
