It is another survival game but this one has no set up and is more like "Hunger Games" than an unknown higher power running the show.

Watching one reminded me of the other. Both take place in a dystopian world where each has to survive. While The Calm beyond focuses on a natural catastrophe and the aftermath of it, Alice in Borderland pulls the people into a game.

In both of them they kinda don't have a choice but to play. Being smart and making the right decisions it's what counts.

Arisu Ryohei—a listless, jobless and video-game-obsessed young man—suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive. In this strange world, Arisu meets Usagi, a young woman who’s navigating the games alone. After a dangerous game which tests Arisu’s limits, the two set out together to unravel one mystery after another as they risk their lives and confront what it means to live.

-need to sacrifices other to survive
-Mc is either a crazy or smart in winning the game

AIB have many type if game while WG only have one game and that's is to find out who's the werewolf. Need to kill to survive. A fck up story indeed.

Both are Japanese shows centered around characters that get stuck in a mysterious survival game against their will. The mind games are awesome! While the consequence of losing in Liar Game is debt, losing equals death in Alice In Borderland. Both shows have a lot of suspense and a strong male/female duo without romance, where the male leads are unexpectedly overpowered (but the ML in AIB is just as clueless as the FL in Liar Game). While the writing in Liar Game focuses more on the value of the characters' individual personality traits, Alice In Borderland deals more with the social dynamics of people trying to survive in a dystopia. Small disclaimer: Alice In Borderland includes extreme violence.

In both dramas people have to participate in kind of the game to win and to survive. We can watch how they true selft are becoming more and more viseable.

Both are psychological, with a lot of play around trust, relationships and mystery. In both, they end up trying to figure out what is behind the situation (Alice and the games vs the class and the weird sensei)

Zhang Jing Yi is the FL in both. The chemistry is natural. The relationship had depth. However, BEITD does not have a satisfactory ending.
