One of the Most Incredible must watch Cdrama!!!!

The story was 100 amazing! 10/10!!! I have seen Untamed, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, Princess agents, Ashes of love and many more. It has a GREAT ENDING! From Episode 1 to Episode 59 is worth your time to watch it. It is not draggy and had a lot of twist each episode. Each actor portrayed there character very well. Crystal Yuan and Cheng Yi had a great chemistry. Cheng Yi is 100% one of the best Male Lead actors I have seen. Hope that they will have another drama together. I have re-watch this thrice already and I cannot move on from this drama. A combination of Love, Hatred, Friendship, Wuxia, and Family story.

I highly recommend this drama, a lot of scenes between the two main leads. I laughed and cried with each character. Thank you writer, directors, actors, crews and all the people behind this amazing drama. You can watch this in Youtube and in Productive Procrastination. Thank you subbers. :)

Best Xianxia Drama of 2020

After watching Ashes of Love a while ago, I didn't think I would ever come across another drama that comes up to par with it but Love and Redemption was definitely the best xianxia drama I watched in a while.

It made me feel angry, sad, and happy throughout the whole series and was definitely worth staying up all night, binge-watching without skipping through any parts. All the actors and actresses were amazing but Cheng Yi (Si Feng) stood out the most for me. It was natural and you know they're good when they make you feel all the emotions they convey in the show.

I loved the storyline. The male lead does fall for the female lead first (similarly to Ashes of Love) and all I have to say is SIMP FOR SIFENG. He truly showed how devoted and loyal one could be towards their s/o. He went through so much in all the lifetimes he and Xuan Ji shared together. He was on a-whole-nother level when it came to his willingness to do anything for the one he loves even if it means being seen as the villain by others.

This is definitely worth rewatching and I have been rewatching parts I loved and couldn't forget. I would recommend this to anybody who watched and loved Ashes of Love and Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms.

Some similarities to Ashes of Love:
- FL in L&R doesn't have her 6 senses - cry, smell, taste, seeing colors, feeling pain, cold, and love while FL in AOL doesn't know what love is therefore making them act clueless and almost childish when it comes to love but later on, develops and matures
- ML develops feelings for FL first in both dramas
- The idea of the Heavenly Realm and Demon Realm
- The tribulations each couple goes through
- Both the SMLs tried their hardest to manipulate the FL and put a wall between the ML and FL
- MLs are both "celestial creatures" (Phoenix/Golden Winged Bird)

Some similarities to Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms:
- Both MLs sacrifices a lot for FLs
- Heaven and Demon/Good vs Evil
- The couple in TMOPB went through 3 lives while the couple in L&R went through 10 lifetimes

honestly, i think this is best drama of 2020.
this remind me of my favorite drama ashes of love soo much, but i still like AOL more. lmao.

the story was fine, i was able to guessed the plot and all, but still entertaining. the lead chemystry is really good tho, love it. i alsolike baishu as tengshe.
honestly, iam so annoyed at xuanji until 40ish episode, when jinmi in AOL free from her yundan, she became more mature, lovable and try real hard to par for her mistakes, but xuanji, after she gained all her senses and god of war power, she became more stupid. i cant believe this. sifeng, suppossed to be the oneshe love, i cant believe even after sifeng told her to kill him if he changed to sect demon, xuanji still didnt trust him.
iam also annoyed by this mortal people (all sect leader). like what chief of lize palace said, they r useless, how can they torture someone before looking for a proof -_-
also, if there is a man like sifeng in real life, how wonderful would that be, he literally love xuanji sooo much. all his tribulation life, keep getting killed by her but keep fall in love with her too. even after he know everything, or when she changed to luo huo jidu(a man), he still love her. damn sweet >//<


but, even tho i annoyed by xuanji and like sifeng more, i like yuan bingyan more than cheng yi. cant wait for her another drama!!

BEST DRAMA EVER

I super loved this drama. I loved that both leads are strong and cool characters. What I absolutely loved about this drama is that both leads had each other's backs. They trusted each other and were there to protect each other. Their relationship is the best and their chemistry is insane. Although a certain misunderstanding occurs towards the end, the FL made up for it. Misunderstandings are present but are actually resolved quickly. The ML was pitiful in most parts as he sacrificed a lot of times for the FL and others were also quick to judge him as well. Another thing that I love about this drama is that it has a HAPPY ENDING. :) This drama gave me severe sepanx. I ended up searching behind the scene videos of the leads. I really loved this drama and I hope you guys watch this as I am sure you won't regret it. I find this better than Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms which i dropped (which ranks the highest among romance C-dramas here in mydramalist aside from untamed).

Excellent drama. If you are into Chinese fantasy drama, I would highly recommend it. Of course, the handsome Liu Xue Yi was also a major attraction - good looking and acts well. He is a heavenly emperor once again, one with good intent but rather muddled. As the drama is progressing, it does look like he is going to be the rejected lover as well. Hope to see more of him as a main lead.

Overall, the story is interesting. Although we knew who the God of War was very early into the drama, we are yet to know the full reason it was cast down to earth as a mortal and the previous relation with Hao Chen. The story slowly unfolds and keeps you wondering of the outcomes especially whether XuanJi would eventually end up with SiFeng in this life or would she regain her memory of her previous lives and choose Hao Chen again.

It seems a lot of ideas of heaven - heavenly emperor (DiJun), XiMing, 9th heaven, God of War etc - came from its predecessors, however the story follows its own thread. But of course, I took a point off the story for originality.

Ending was interesting and rather unexpected. The relationship between the God of War and the Demon Star was revealed.

Music was lovely and I got to like it more and more as the drama progresses. I watched it concurrently with 'And the Winner is Love' and 'Noble Aspiration' while waiting for the episodes to be released and this definitely stood out among the three.

Although I would not place it in the ultra top league as The Untamed, Ten Mile Peach Blossom and Nirvana in Fire, it is nevertheless very well produced and certainly deserves a place among the top league.

I can not believe how good; Crystal Yuan has become.
Her new and improved acting skills are lights away from her days in Ever Night and Listening Snow Tower.
For me, this is her best acting performance yet. She always had difficulty conveying her characters’ emotions. However finally, in this Xianxia drama, she did a damn good job... Ironically, her character is lacking her 6 senses.
As for Cheng Yi, He looks even better now than in his younger years in Noble Aspiration.
The years just didn’t affect him at all.
What the hell is his secret?
The production crew could not have selected a better actor than him for the male lead role of Si Feng.
His whole performance was pure perfection.

Xianxia masterpiece about true love, friendship, sisterhood and good vs evil

At first I was hesitant to start this drama as it's freaking 59 episodes long and I was afraid there would be dull moments and filler episodes. The first two episodes didn't immediately wow me but were interesting enough for me to continue the show. I'm glad I did continue because the rest of the episodes instantly hooked me up. There was never a boring moment so this drama is truly binge-worthy. The plot is done so well, with lots of twists and turns + tons of romance, angst, mystery and heartbreaking scenes.

The male lead stuttering is a bit weird at first but it only lasts 2-3 episodes. The female leads at first, looks like your typical naive, girly girl. However I promise you both are much more than that and have wonderful character development. In fact the male lead is now one of my top favourite c-drama characters. The chemistry between the main couple is off the charts and I truly felt so invested in their relationship till the end. It's one of the most loving and beautiful relationships I've ever watched. The side couples are also very cute. All the characters and I mean all, are great, including the villains.

The acting is top-notch, especially the male lead performance captivated me. Music ties in everything really well and especially during the cool fight scenes is very different and memorable. Special effects are great. Truly I cannot find even one thing I dislike about this drama which is so rare. I don't typically rewatch dramas but I can definitely see myself doing that in the future. In short, this xianxia drama is a masterpiece and I 100% recommend it.

Unhealthy Relationships

There is no other way to say it - I HATED Love and Redemption. My biggest issue was the lack of agency given to Zhu Xuan Ji by almost every male character in the show. I expect the main antagonist to manipulate her actions - it's the Big Bads main purpose after all. However, I did not expect such problematic behavior from her love interest. Most of the later half of the show is driven by Cheng Si Feng refusing to be open and honest with Zhu Xuan Ji. He doesn't tell her about the love curse; he doesn't tell her about his demon lineage; he flat out lies about his identity upon realizing she is the Devil Star; and he misleads her into thinking he is in love with someone else to keep her at a distance once they reunite after two years. All of these lies are in the name of "protecting her," but it essentially amounted to him making decisions for her and their relationship. Why is it I have more confidence in her ability to handle these issues rather than the man who is in love with her (and has followed her through ten lifetimes)?

Homegirl defended him ad nauseum before officially denouncing him. Even when he was openly antagonistic toward her, she would beg him to explain his motives. You cannot make me believe for one second she would have not listened to him with the amount of love and trust she placed in him. She held on from doubting him for far longer than I would have. Even worse was the way his friends talked smack about her behind her back. "How could she doubt you..." Bitch, please. Everyone, INCLUDING HIM, was telling her he was a bad guy. If you're going to criticize and judge her actions, let's side eye the guy who is deliberately misleading her and keeping her at a distance.

Not to be outdone, her father threatens to commit suicide and actually does bodily injure himself if she did not capitulate to his request to break up with her main squeeze. Or how about all the times Hao Chen bullied, threatened, and manipulated her (over and over and over again)? Watching this poor girl constantly not being given any agency in her own story was heartbreaking. I was rooting for her to just walk away from them all and go adventuring with her bestest support spirit animal, Teng She. At least when he tried to manipulate her, she could see through his actions.

I also disliked most of the relationships and romances on the show. Honestly, they were just so unhealthy. Yu Si Feng was obsessed with Zhu Xuan Ji; Hao Chen was obsessed with Zhu Xuan Ji; Lu Yan Ran was obsessed with Yu Si Feng; and Zi Hu was obsessed with Wu Zi Qi. My least favorite was Lu Yan Ran, who did nothing but complain the entire length of the show about how much she hated Zhu Xuan Ju and loved Yu Si Feng. The only romance I supported was between Zhu Ling Long and Zhong Min Yan. Their love and relationship struggles were truly heartbreaking. The scene where Zhu Ling Long attempts to commit suicide was one of the best depictions of how trauma can warp our sense of self. It took her a long time to process the abuse and rape she experienced, but it was done in a realistic and authentic way.

This review is certainly long and perhaps overly nitpicky. Perhaps my tastes are just to rich after watching The Starry Love, Love Between Fairy and Devil, and The Untamed. But I wouldn't be as nearly upset if it had a sub par cast or story. It had all of the elements to make something great, and yet it was such a messy and convoluted story. The one thing I truly liked about it was the thirty minute epilogue. Many of these shows skip over this section, which can be truly disappointing since we spent 40+ hours of our lives investing in these characters.

Perfect-Plot Entertaining-Characters Engaging-CGIs Satisfactory-Ending

The drama was wholesome, a rollercoaster of emotions, story was perfect and satistying it had every element to it. I loved the lead couple their chemistry and understanding of eachother.
The chill Liu Yi Huan supporting Yi Si Feng all along the hard times and giving solutions & advices for his problems was applaudable, he was really a mood booster in those harsh phases of the story for his fun attitude.
Beside that the 💜Purple fox & Wu Zhi Qi💜 side of story touched my heart. . I doubted Wu Zhi Qi firstly, I didn't imagine he'll be such a sweetheart, even more supportive for Si feng. I must confess Wu Zhi Qi was too hot for me, with his attitude he was perfect for his role.

The drama had dark elements to it too like the Demon Citadel gave me goosebumps everytime there was a scene about it delivering horrer vibes. I hated Yuan Lang he was the reason for all misunderstandings between the mortals, his re-appearance was literally a headache for me thanks to Rou Yu for his intrusion every time and ruining the plot for sifengXxuanji.
White snake was perfect for his role I loved his head movements and tantrums lol he was too entertaining adding up to the value of the show. 💛

Lastly about ❤sifengxxuanji❤ I don't have the proper words to describe so I'll leave it but I'll mention the story was perfect from the beginning to end engaging the viewer completely. At first I thought the drama has too much eps (59) but I assure you it's too entertaining with its perfect speed of change of events, the viewer never gets bored. I finished it like in 4-5 days and I feel lost now it's difficult to get out of the shell it has put me into, this feeling is rare. The plot about their 9 lives was well written. Both lead actors acted very well it's just that I had issues digesting the dubbed voice over of FL it reminded me of The princess agents Xinger lol but later after ep 20 I was okay.

The OSts I must mention were playing a major part in delivering the real emotions of the characters. All the songs were well sung even though I never understood the language they were touching I really admire all those 6-7 songs just added them to my playlist bcs they take me back to this drama vibes.
