Spoilt Princess gets her way

What a waste of time this series is. I looked forward in anticipation to what was billed an exciting. new costume drama only to have my hopes dashed. The two leads tried their hardest - but in the end the story line was so insipid that I gave up.
The only relieving grace, if there was any, was the acting of some of the support roles.. but having said that the actress who played Miaorong should never be on screen again..
As for the story line being billed as a romance between a princess and a palace guard - what a load of hogwash. For a start, Li Qian is not just some palace guard, but a famed general from a noble family. As for Princess Baoning - whoever decided upon her make up and wardrobe should have their head examined.
To call the plot third rate would be too kind. It is as though half way through the writers realised they had a turkey on their hands and decided to throw everything but the kitchen sink at the script. Every kind of 'love story/revenge story' cliche is added often without any sense or benefit.
But my main gripe is with the so called character traits of the main leads. Li Qian is a doormat, while Baoning is portrayed as spoilt, arrogant, self centred, self-entitled and stubborn. Any sane man would have told Baoning to take a running jump. But no - loyal, devoted loving hubby Li Qian doesn't - instead he goes into full masochist mode - the more you hurt me the more I love you - utterly ridiculous.
A much more interesting and realistic plot would have been for the two leads to split up from each other and then have them reconcile with each other, having had a long hard look at themselves and realised their shortcomings - for Li Qian to be more assertive and Baoning to turn over a new leaf - but this would have been too much to ask ...wouldn't it?
All in all 3 out of ten

Good drama

Good drama 💜
Love the cp Ningqian
For the script writer, director, and editor I recommend for next time work or project is need improvement for satisfaction of viewers.
The title rebirth for you is not focusing in the plot of the story or we not seen it about who is from rebirth. So they said the tittle is change to to biography of Jianan so this title is jianan biography is the plot or story we seen it in last episodes at 36 episodes you can understand about the jianan biography. In the beginning of episodes there's no scene and plot focusing in the title. Based on my opinion.. Better the title they change to "the Supreme weapon book" why? Because in the beginning of episodes they talking about and searching about the book till end of episodes . And this book also is every one is related and wanted this book. So this book focused on the plot of story so I think viewers can understand the story about.

I recommend this drama.
They act very well, and custome, make up is ok fit based on there character.. Setting location are good. But some are messy specially in battlefield and capital outside 😊😊 must be arrange well. So anyways we are different views 😉
PS. We are different opinions and points of view.

Sweet but random

Do I enjoy watching this drama? Absolutely.
Is it a good drama? Absolutely not.
Am I crazy for giving it a rating of 8? No! Hear me out:

This drama is greater than the sum of its parts. And its parts consists a very sweet couple, and randomly strung together scenes that serve no plot or purpose.

This drama could have been a very sweet 20 episodes drama. The main couple has amazing chemistry, and the characters are absolutely sweet to each other. Except...after the first 10 episodes, we only see them together 3 minutes per episode. EVEN THEN, they make it worth it for me. They're 90% of the reason why I gave the drama the rating I did. At its best, the drama reminds me of The story of Ming Lan (my absolute favorite), in the way both of the leads are smart and in love with each other. The plot is dumb, but the characters are smart, if that makes sense.

To enjoy this drama like I did, you have to put on a special lens: you either ff through all scenes without the main couple, or watch them in 3x speed. Characters who are not related at all to any main overarching plot - of which there was none - show up and disappear randomly (like a "monster of the week" structure). Events happen, and you have no idea why. On the upside, there's a lot of humor, most of it unintentional; and you're always on the edge of your seat because you literally cannot predict what happens next. Will it be another loser acquaintance? Another failed scheme by the SFL? Unrelated love lives of characters you don't care about? There's plenty to choose from and you can never guess!

You probably can't tell from my review above, but I genuinely enjoyed this drama, except maybe not for the reason the producers intended. Don't watch this drama if you can't fast-forward or are unwilling to speed it up (WeTV app lets you so why not??) I look forward to seeing Joseph and Kiku in another drama again, one I can love for all the right reasons.

Unconditional love exist!

I thought this won’t get aired anymore since they had finished filming the drama for quite a while, I am bias, I would not mind paying for a VIP access just to watch Ju Jingyi’s drama, and it’s worth every penny. I’m 4 episodes away to the end & I’m satisfied, I heard it’s going to be a happy ending which is great! The love between the two leads & family ties especially Baoning ‘s & Grand empress’ depicts ‘unconditional love’ , but of course just like in the real world, we can never be too happy! So the conflicts are understandable. The most important thing is that they were able to resolve them with flying colors, I love the chemistry of Baoning & Qian, I’m hoping to see them again in another drama, keeping my fingers crossed! In conclusion, I’m loving it! Ju Jingyi is my stress reliever & I’m not even Chinese . I’m not into dramas nor following any celebrities on social media until I came across this girl, My only favourite celebrity in the whole wide world. Be strong & stay grounded, know that this world is cruel & some ppl just like to hate , it is a reflection of who they are & not about you at all. Continue doing what you love, You’re on the right track. When you feel like giving up,please always remember that you are so special & making a lot of people happy with what you do like this one soul across the miles.

Dropped halfway

Very relieved after reading some of the bad reviews here because I am one of the people that clearly did not enjoy this drama a single bit. It was so bad that I gave it a chance, and still couldn't finish it.

Although I was not a fan of JJY but her past works on historical dramas are pretty decent and with Joseph Zeng as the ML, everything seems very promising. BUT this show is just so hard to watch with (1) CRAZY second ML and FL that are obsessive and annoying (2) No idea whats charismatic about FL like is she supposed to be smart and charming? because i don't see it. And yet we see so many ML dying to marry her (3) I wasted 20+ episodes seeing 2nd ML go crazy for FL just to be with her and he just couldn't get his shit together (4) Low chemistry between both main leads. Nothing wow about their character and no growth as well.

FINAL VERDICT: no selling point for this drama - if you want romance, there are better romance drama with JJY/Joseph. if you want political dramas, there are many better ones out there too. only watch if you're a die hard fan of the casts if not u will have a heart attack watching it.

Nothing wao in the drama , who likes love story that can go for it but love story is also okay

Lead actress' character was a princess and prince wanted to marry her as they were childhood friends but his mother never wanted this ,they were cousins (prince and princess) naturally because of family issue but princess also not want to marry him as she didn't like him . She fell in love with the soldier and soldier also loved her but he never tell her as she was princess but something had happened and they get married and then so many conspiracies were developed to separate them but all were failed . something happened in the soldier family many years back and the one who is responsible was princess' father so soldier's father not allowed them to live together . Firstly he also ignored her but he loved her so much that not allowed her to leave him . Things had gotten worse and they separated . After loosing so many loved ones they finally get together and drama was so over.
I want to ask the director that who was the boy(small kid) at the last part of drama who was asking princess' daughter to get down from the tree.
I like one pair also and their chemistry but forgot their name ,the one who also shown at the last part oth drama having two daughters.

One of the best from Joseph Zeng

I found this drama intriguing up until maybe ep 24 onwards...The beginning was pretty solid and the storyline decent. It lagged in the middle with obvious filler plots and the ending was meh. I've seen JJY from Yun Xi and Blooms and really - I feel this drama is just in her comfort zone - nothing outstanding from her. Joseph Zeng on the other hand - was impressive. I enjoyed his scenes and I found his performance has improved since Dragon Sabre. He has a lot of potential. Overall, I wouldn't say this has re-watch value. I didn't skip any episodes but this could easily have been reduced down to 35 episodes.

This is as far as I will go.

Based solely on the first 12 episodes.

.

The story is good. The acting is okay. The music is great. In almost 12 episodes, RFY was able to give me a wonderful costume drama with riveting palace politics, a flawless coup d'etat, a heart racing love story and Ju Jing Yi in not one, but TWO gorgeous wedding dresses.

What more could I ask for?

There is no need for me to continue. I don't want to see them struggling with love rivals, easily resolvable misunderstandings and an unnecessary breakup for the next TWENTY EIGHT EPISODES.

TWENTY EIGHT.

This drama has a happily ever after right here, right now at the start of episode 12.

I'm okay. Now I'll listen to the OST on repeat.

Uh what???

The beginning dozen episodes were excellent. The story was a good pace and each character development seems to be on point. There’s a very strong and smart FL and she worked well with the ML. Although there is the usually jealous female it did not take over the screen and affect the mains that much.

Then….
It’s as if the previous screenwriter and director were changed to another person.. the main characters somehow became so insecure and jealous. Then more jealous females and males were added to the screen time. It was basically 90% of jealousy and scheming from them. Then the leads had a personality change and became dumb and super insecure. The character development literally dropped down hill.

It def did have a rebirth of all the characters. In some of the dramas even with the evil char the story still moves and the mains get their screen time. Nope not this. I had to drop it after cringing in every episode at all the unnecessary drama. They even skipped important scenes just to be jealous rivals in. I mean when did the emporer even get married??

So if you’re into watching jealous ppl plot and ruin others lives this one’s for you.

Waste of time to watch

Was hoping this costume drama could change my mind when it comes to FL Ju Jingyi. Unfortunately, it did not. Her costume and make up remains similar to all her other drama shows although her drama characters are different.
Storyline.... Not sure if they have one. Seems unrelated to the title "Rebirth for you".
Script at times run in the line of "stupidity" - example having a conversation in a burning house.
Chemistry between ML and FL - rather rigid and reserved.
Overall - a waste of time to watch for me.

Chemistry is great & they’re so sweet.

I’m obsessed with Joseph Zeng in this drama - he’s much more mature than his previous dramas. I didn’t think too much of him in previous dramas until this one. The hair and costumes were beautiful and matched well with characters. Main lead’s outfits were kinda extra but I’m here for it lol

The main leads Joseph Zeng and JuJingYi were really good together, great chemistry — overall they were so sweet and I’m obsessed with them as a couple. Hopefully they will do another drama together!! I loved her with Zhang Zhehan but I’m loving her with Joseph Zeng now just as much (maybe even more now).

Yes there are some annoying parts with the scheming 2nd leads but what drama doesn’t have that? You tend to just root for them to fail & get the retribution they deserve which they eventually do. Also there’s some green screen moments that looks a little fake but you get over it real quick. And the main couple did kind of annoy me at the end because they went from super trusting to fighting over dumb situations. I get the hate some people were giving this drama but I definitely think it’s worth a watch because of the main leads. Happy endings for everyone in the end.

Overall, it’s not a super great storyline (blame the writers not the actors) but I still really enjoyed watching this drama and the OST is so good! But I mean I think most of JJY’s dramas have great music since she usually sings a few of the songs & her voice is beautiful.

Mixed feeling, but watch it nevertheless

Rebirth for you

This drama is quite entertaining even though it is quite slow in pace at first. But once Li Qian starts flirting in earnest, you cant help but fall in love alongside baoning. Lol.

However, there is quite a few glaring problem with the plot. The scriptwriters imo appear to be having somewhat short term-memory regarding their own plot. For example, at first, the Li Family is flaunted as quite a powerful family, so much so that the Cao Empress Dowager rushed to recruit them to her side and cant wait to promote Li Qian to a higher position to get into the Li Family’s good book. However, after 10 episodes, after baoning’s marriage into the Li Family, the writer wrote them as if the princess is doing the Li Family so much favour by marrying down to them, and it seems that now the Li Family has nil a value anymore? Also, at first, Gao Miaorong is introduced as a miracle doctor, who even top doctor in the capital know for her intelligence and mastery. Then out of the sudden, 10 episodes later, Gao Miaorong is turned into a convenient (albeit an annoying) villain, wrecking havoc in the Li Mansion, being so freely walking around, not even a hint of her supposedly grand mastery in medicine is seen? 🙄

And oh my god, zhao xiao ah zhao xiao. Where to start with you? As a character, zhao xiao is everything that is annoying, hard headed to the point of stupidity, thick faced (baoning doesnt like youuuuu please just go awayyyy), and also incompetent but stupidly arrogant. It’s a pity, because i rather like you at first. And wang zhuocheng? I rather admit that i am rather fond of you, coming from a diehard fan of the untamed, but i must say that zhuocheng’s acting skill needs to be polished more. Sometimes, i cant help but cringe at certain parts. However, seeing that he is still quite a newcomer, i am sure he will improve in future.

Not to mention, who the heck wrote the han tongxin character?? Is the scriptwriter non chinese or what?? This is my first time seeing such a character for an empress. Not only is the empress is depicted such a greedy and jealous woman (which is a usual case in harem drama), but how come she is also so stupid? Who the hell insult the grand empress dowager to her face, questioning her authority and repeatedly arguing with the emperor face to face?? In other dramas, such a feat wont even make her last a day in the harem. Lol. Please be more realistic, would you scriptwriters? *shakinghead

Other questionable plot by the authors:
1. Just who the hell is Marquis Jinghai supposed to be?? He’s just a marquis, but can enter the palace and harem everytime and basically at his convenience? 🙄 Other palace dramas basically depict how hard it is for outsiders, even a qin wang cannot just enter the palace at will unless summoned or during court, even worse entering the harem
2. Qin Yu’s death. Too unrealistic. Someone attempted to murder your mom, and you dont even capture the perpetrator yet, but you, as a son, let your mother go to secluded riverside alone on her merry way?? 🙄
3. The hell happen with the usurping the yongqing’s throne? You ambush thr palace and evryone go on your merry way? Qing An is not even in Yongqing to stabilise the power change! Dont get me started on how easily Siqin got abducted 🙄🙄
4. The salutation sometimes were mixed up. For example, the officer addressing baoning still as ‘jinzhu’ when she is already promoted to ‘gongzhu’. Also, a few time, servants address li qian still as ‘da gongzhi’ instead of ‘wangye’ when he was already conferred as Lord Xin. Small thing, but when added up, still irks me. Lol
5. The end fighting is so anticlimactic imho. And doesnt make that much sense either. Not only the soldiers count are too little (who fought an ultimate war with just 11 people anyway? 🙄), the one on one fight between li qian and qing tai while everyone sits around also doesnt make sense. Hellooooo this is not a friendly match for hand-in-marriage! Lol. And qing an just stands around doing nothing?? The hellll. That really botch the ending
6. Lastly, this is not the plot, but i found that the production team doesn’t make use of the ost much, just for the opening and ending and that one song that they usually used for qing an and dongzhi’s scenes

Putting all those aside though, there are a few things that i must commend on. I think the fight choreograph is quite well done. It looks cool whenever there is a one-to-one fight/small fight. I cant really commend on the army fighting though. As usual, it is hard to execute a realistic army fight/war battle if you dont have a big enough budget. And as mentioned above, the ending ‘war’ is the ultimate botch for ‘big army fight’

The costumes are also things that can be commended on. Baoning’s costumes especially are really nice and flowy. So pretty! Li Qian also got quite an array of nice and elaborate costumes. And i found, the set is appropriate and well executed, especially the sets in the palace. The furnitures and everything looks quite lavish and convincing.

The acting if baoning’s personal maid (qingke) is consistently commendable in my opinion. Far cry from her acting as a spoiled princess in Blooms in Ruyi Pavillion. Qing An’s also is quite a natural

The chemistry between baoning and li qian imo is the main thing that carries this drama for me. I’ve always like JJY since LoYX and TBARP, and joseph zheng since TFaYAH, so it was nice to have these two in a drama together. I may not rewatch this in the future but JJY and JZ are what definitely encourage me to complete this series despite the many flaws in the plot.
