Roy Chiu is extremely good looking and I legit got distracted by his beauty a few times.
The movie did exactly what I expected it to do - entertained me. The plot is fairly simple and they explained the lore of the ghosts enough for me to understand what is going on. The funny scenes made me laugh, and the emotional ones made me feel things (though I'm easily moved, so this is an extremely subjective statement). I enjoyed all the characters and random English words thrown by them.
I must say, the way the movie was filmed and edited was exactly my type. From the beginning I was enjoying the aesthetics of it.
Any flaws? The final scene between the big bad guy and the hero was... extremely anticlimactic. It was built up well. I could see that male lead is trying to outsmart the villain, while Hsueh is dealing with, let's say, trauma. Sadly, what followed was weak. With how entertaining the movie was, I expected some epic fight by the end.
Overall, a short, fun movie for a relaxing evening with which you don't have to strain your brain too much. If you are searching for pure entertainment based on some crime/supernatural elements, go for it.

Unique & Brilliant
Okay so I went into this thinking it might be a bit more silly cuz of the image that showed up for it 😅 However it was actually a pretty serious story that just had a few silly moments.So the story is a cop that is a very "man of justice" type can see ghosts and wants to bring justice not just for the living but also the dead. He gets kicked from his main department and transferred to the secretive 9th Precinct. Here he's entered a world where ghosts are the clientele and your job is helping them move on. As the story goes we meet his coworkers, an interesting journalist, and learn of an ancient evil.
Now I know a lot of that seems like typical supernatural cop thriller stuff. I get it. However, I feel like they did it in a pretty unique way that really makes it shine.
The only drawback I have is the mid-credits ending. It leaves the floor open for a possible sequel but I'm unsure if there are talks of one being made. If not, then I feel like they shouldn't have had it in there.
The ending before the credits was perfect and brought the whole story full circle, in my opinion.
Either way I truly recommend people give this a chance because it is really beautiful.

Entertaining and not that scary
When it comes to horror genre, I love to watch the taiwanese ones and this movie got my attention.Althought it was not that scary as I thought (and I was watching it during nightime), it was still engaging/interesting, entertaining and somehow heartwarming. Oh and of course, some sad /small emotional moments.
I really like everything, from the begining to the end, I was not bored although some things got on my nerves a little bit (or rather some behaviors from certains characters) and that, some parts were a bit predictable...In addition, I just felt that the second part was a bit weaker than I expected but still, I enjoyed it.
I do think, sometimes I just feel it's a funny horror movie but at the same time, it was getting serious, a weird feeling but I liked it.
So this movie was an easy-watch that keep you entertaining but you might feel bored if you have high expectations and that you want more on the horror part (such as jumpscares but I have to admit, I had a few jumpscares but I laughed it off because that was silly of me).

A fun watch.
The 9th Precinct is a fast-paced horror comedy with a compelling storyline. It's fun and slightly campy. However, this movie would've been much better if it was a series. There are a lot of themes to delve into and arcs that need more depth. If The 9th Precinct were a series, it would've had better writing and execution. Additionally, it'd have more time to adequately cover three genres: mystery, horror, and comedy. Nevertheless, the movie remains entertaining.The cast knows how to act. The acting for some characters, such as Sun Yushu, may appear over the top, but once you see how this isn't a serious movie, it'll become bearable. I seldom laughed at the physical comedy, but I often chuckled at the hilarious premise and the random English profanities. I mean, the villain worships Lucifer and calls archangel Michael stupid.
The camerawork and cinematography are decent. I like the fighting choreography because it looks believable and not forced. The sound effects are equally okay, but they could've put more effort into the ghost design. The ghosts aren't scary or riveting. The ghosts are just grey. Literally and figuratively grey.
The biggest problem with this movie is that there's not enough of everything. As I briefly stated in the first paragraph, there's too little mystery and a lack of scary scenes, and the humour feels half-hearted. They could've done more with everything.
Don't miss the post-credit scene. It teases for a continuation, and I'll likely watch it. If there will be a sequel, I hope it will be a series.
The 9th Precinct has a lot of room for improvement, but it didn't feel like a waste of time. I still had a good watching experience. Therefore, I recommend this movie to people who want to watch a light-hearted, easy-to-follow movie. However, I don't recommend this for people who want to watch a horror movie because it's not scary at all.
