Maiden Holmes

少女大人 ‧ Drama ‧ 2020
Both are detective cases and are focused around female centric themes in the crime solving business. Maiden Holmes seems be more broad in the sense that the female lead can somewhat fight, is a detective that can find clues, and can determine death info. In contrast, the Imperial Coroner mainly focuses own one expertise. The female lead is much more well versed in determining the causes of death and symptoms it shows through the corpse. Her explanation is much more explicit and scientifically explained in contrast to Maiden Holmes which only offer generalizations.

On his quest for the truth, he meets a remarkably smart and resourceful young female detective named Su Ci. Together, they form a close bond. They team up with two other quick-witted young sleuths and make a joint bid to discover the scale of the scheming that has undermined the Imperial Palace.

both FL
*are quick-thinking, intelligent forensic scientists
*are struggling with an unjust parental death
*are pursued by good men with their own personal/political intrigues
*are repeatedly in danger because of a larger power struggle

in both:
*1 ML has government affiliation, 1 ML has ties to the "dark" side
*each ML is embroiled in a much larger struggle for power

context is historic China and issues of gender equity/plight of women are explored (more in MH than MT)

Both have detective work and romance. I would say Under the Power is more focused on the detective work whereas Maiden Holmes is more fluffy and focuses more on the romance. Both are very good shows!

They both involve the female lead hiding their secret identity. The male lead isn't arrogant and is quite sweet. Both female leads aren't your typical fair ladies during the time. They are good at martial arts. The female leads face an identity exposure which leads to imprisonment. There also isn't any second lead syndrome in both dramas. There are similar political ties between the two dramas. Lastly, there are funny parts and serious parts, it's worth a watch.

Pretty people solving mysteries and falling in love. There are secret and false identities, parting then reuniting couples but it is easily and quickly handled. The actors have exceptional chemistry.
Happy endings with possible season 2!

-FL dresses like man
-FL is daughter of someone unjustly killed
-ML/ML’s father is thought to be guilty for the event for a short while
-Characters act as detectives to find corrupt officials
-Kind ML and no serious love-triangles
Overall, they have a similar vibe, although the FL in MH is more mature and cold, while the FL in IACOHO is bubbly and bright. These dramas aren’t particularly stressful and most of the characters are fun to watch, making them a good choice for a pick-me-up on a sick day.

Both are historical dramas in which the leads are investigating mysteries. One of the MLs or the SML's adoptive father is a villain and the story arc between father and son ends much the same way.

Both FLs disguise themselves as a man and investigate cases. Both MLs seem cold initially but melt around the FL, learn her secret, and protect her while solving the cases alongside her.
