Not for everyone, but worked for me
I know this won't work for everyone — especially if someone's coming into this expecting a simple rom-com or melodrama — but it actually really worked for me, twist and all. It's realistic without feeling watered down, and I found that the story provided surprisingly thought-provoking commentary on perspective-taking.Was this review helpful to you?
Waste of time
I watched the movie Sweet and Sour and honestly, it felt like a waste of 1 hour and 24 minutes. The trailer seemed promising, which is why I decided to watch it, but it turned out to be a disappointment. I believe in true love and value true sacrifice, so I was rooting for the main couple’s chemistry from the very beginning. Unfortunately, the male lead ditched her and got involved with his colleague.Towards the end, I thought he would realize his mistakes, go back to her, and apologize. Instead, the director ruined the ending, leaving me confused. The story didn’t have proper closure. It showed him blaming his boss and then proposing to his new girlfriend, asking her not to go abroad.
I really disliked the movie. I felt deeply connected to the female protagonist, but the story failed to do justice to her character.

Too much realism
Sorry guys but I have to agree with MOST of the negative reviews on this one. The plot sucked, story with the twist could have been done so much better with the cast that they had and it fails to grab you. Would I ever rewatch this? NO!!!!! There’s enough reality in this world to keep people jolted awake, why make the ending like so many other real relationships? Why not develop the characters to grow and come back together with a genuine love for one another. This too can be a real life ending but sheesh you ruined it for me!!!!Was this review helpful to you?
An amazing story about love.
This one was a deep thinking movie, you have you pay attention. I'm a sucker for stories about love. I felt happy, sad, angry and definitely laughed a lot.The ML made me upset a lot (it was realistic). His chemistry with the 2nd FL was a 10. He should've been honest with everyone including himself. His effort didn't match his commitment. The acting was great.
The 1st FL made me feel like I was getting a warm hug but at times reminded me of a cat, wants attention/affectionate but on her terms. You could tell she genuinely cared but the ending made me see her in a different light.
The 2nd FL was perfect. The highlight of the show. I went in 100% BIASED because it's Krystal Jung and my review might seem biased...She was everything the 1st FL wasn't to the ML. She was sexy, competition, caring, accessible...she made it so the ML could breathe.
Overall I loved it. I can understand why someone wouldn't like it. The cringe/anger was real for me. I screamed at my TV because the writing and acting was that good. I was invested. Highly recommend this if you enjoy deep thinking movies or stories about love.

Lee woo je needs more recognition
Ahh defos lives up to the name! Your feelings to the couples relationship becomes sweet and sour and you watch their relationship become the way it does with those feelings like aghh!! still dying over the ending an hour later!!My guy Lee woo je was in the beginning and ending so shouldve given him more recognition in the credits.
But what i can tell you readers my feelings for Soobin at the end was like WTH! MASSIVE TWIST AT THE END GUYS!!! But kiyoung was kinda cute in this film first time seeing his acting.
And crystal was funny ♡
It was a nice movie defos not sure if there was any OST that stood out tbh but really liked it.

I Enjoyed Being Fooled
It's been a while since I watched a kdrama movie and it was a nice respite from the 16-20 hour time investment for a series. Without even realizing who the FL lead was, other than "she looks familiar, hmm", I thought "what a pleasant, attractive character." Imagine my surprise when figuring out that she was the FL in When The Phone Rings, a series where she had basically two facial expressions, neither of which was smiling. Her nurse character, especially as she interacts and develops a relationship with her jaundiced patient (ML), made for a positive, good vibe. He certainly seemed out of her league and the fact that their relationship bloomed just added to the depth of her character. She saw something in him that maybe others had missed. He was so inspired by his good fortune to be in a relationship with her that he decided to lose the weight, becoming more attractive and interesting in the process. That he was being depicted by a different actor at this point was just one of those things one comes to expect. He starts working long hours and still has feelings for the FL, but the relationship is challenged when she finds out she is pregnant.
At this point in the movie I felt that the SML (second actor playing the fit male lead) was sincere about wanting to stay in the relationship, but torn because he wanted to succeed in his demanding job. His attractive co-worker (SFL) was more interested in him than he was in her and in a moment of weariness he made what I took to be an honest mistake and called the FL by the SFL's name. FL wasn't too happy and was fully aware of how difficult it had become for SML to commute to visit with her and pressed the issue, to which the SML admitted that he felt sorry for her, indicating that there was some "duty" involved as his motivation for staying in the relationship. She gives him an out and he does something dumb and more or less succumbs to the advances of the SFL. I believed that he still had feelings, albeit confused, for the FL and the SFL was merely a rebound relationship. He finally realizes that he wants to try to mend things with the FL and dashes off to the airport to join her on a trip they had planned to Jeju.
MAJOR SPOILER FOLLOWS!!
Which is when the gotcha occurs. I was totally suckered in by the illusion that the ML had worked hard enough to transition into great shape as portrayed by the SML. In that moment of realization that in fact the SML wasn't the same character as the ML, merely shared a name and occupation, and as it turned out had a similar hospital experience where FL was the nurse, only on a different timeline, I had a great appreciation for a twist well done. The rewind segment helped fill in the blanks and also explained the strange "Sneakers" segments. That the SML tried to comfort his bruised ego by returning to pursue the SFL was a bit pathetic, although that relationship likely had a better chance of succeeding that the one with the FL and the ML. The look on the FL's face in the last scene seemed to me to say that she still had feelings for the SML and that the ML was just a convenient temporary substitution. Not a bad deal under the circumstances for the ML but I doubt their relationship would last very long. Too much water under the bridge for the original duo (FL/SML) to return to their relationship, but the FL's looks and personality were so attractive that I doubt she would have any problem finding other men who are interested in her.

What I especially liked is the non-obvious jumps between timelines, and the amount of detail put into the main characters interactions both in past and present. You have to pay a bit attention, but I think the reveal is very rewarding.
The charcaters’ personal challenges and lige decisions also play a big part, some really important themes are explored in kind of a mystical way.
I think movie is underrated when looking at some of the other reviews.

J’ai vraiment apprécié !!!!!!!!Was this review helpful to you?

more sour than sweet...
I really liked the actors, and the acting wasn't even the issue. I had the problem with the weird story. I think they kind of wasted such a good cast on a mid ass storyline. I think the story was just lame and strange. The two-boyfriend plot twist was interesting, but also the whole movie just felt quick and not very well done. I rated it a 5/10 because it was mid tbh. Loved the cast, not so much the story!!Was this review helpful to you?

Unfaithfulness is the antithesis to romance.
I wasted nearly an hour with this movie. There was a beginning segment, and then after what seemed to be quite awhile, a time jump. During the first "act" I kept waiting for...something. Some explanation, some missing piece of information that would make sense of things. Then there was the time jump- which was underwhelming and felt detached somehow, but I kept thinking that at least now the story would arrive. Unfortunately I was wrong. Netflix has some explaining to do, labeling it as romance and a romantic comedy. In what way can this be labeled romance?? Unfaithfulness is this antithesis to romance!!Oh, and this is yet another glorification of a disgusting individual. What is up with Kdramas and repulsive females??? [I'm looking at you club president Jan-Di.]

Loved that this movie's ending caused such havoc online!!Because the ending is realistic and she the female lead - PROUDLY made the right choice.
Shocked, annoyed and simply disappointed that the main lead did NOT ONCE mention his girlfriend the ENTIRE time. With every encounter he had with his work co-worker. - That's SHADY behavior already.
Also that old security guard setting them up like that is just unnecessary - like your trying to live out your fantasies through younger , better looking young men and push pressurize them into doing the dirty so you can feel some second hand ooemmph.
LOVED the sweet and kindhearted boy she took with her to Jeju Island - this just proves that its NOT about the way someone looks (which it seems is EXTRA important in KDrama culture). Its about the way they treat and respect you. Love is an ACTION word!!
