Xiao Cong tries to confess her feelings for Xiu Yuan but fails. The Emperor is informed that General Chu is having marital conflicts and his soldiers have not been paid. His daughter, Princess Jiu’er, is heartbroken because he forbids her from having a relationship with a palace guard. So, he orders her to visit General Chu to relax her mind as well as to observe his marital situation. Both General Chu and Shen Jin decide that it is time for them to be properly married after all the misunderstandings. While Shen Jin desires a grand wedding, General Chu only wants a private affair. Shen Jin reluctantly agrees to a private wedding due to the spies around them. A wedding is held and they are officially married. General Chu receives news that Princess Jiu’er will be visiting. He tells Xiao Su not to let Shen Jin know as it will be hard for her to endure another woman staying with them. But Xiao Su tells Rou Rou who reports back to Shen Jin. Shen Jin decides to approach Princess Jiu’er directly and relates her love story with General Chu. The princess is moved and tells Shen Jin her tragic tale in return. The guard is tortured and then expelled from the palace after she pleaded with her father to spare his life. Shen Jin tries to encourage Princess Jiu’er as the latter misses her lover terribly.
