the cure might be much more unsettling, but both movies are good at maintaining the tension throughout. the cure is about a detective investigating a wave of murders and coming across a strange man, while in grotesque mansion, the main character wants to investigate the paranormal mansion for his webtoon.

The Chaser and Cure both dive into the psychology of crime and investigate the darker side of human nature. In The Chaser, you have a former detective turned pimp hunting down a serial killer, but it's not just about the murders—it’s about the chase, the psychological depth, and the mind games between the hunter and the hunted. Much like in Cure, the tension comes from unraveling the motivations behind the crimes, and it delves into the complexities of the human psyche.

Both are japanese horror mystery movies made in the late 90s that focus on people investigating a series of strange and unexplainable deaths. The characters dive deep into the history and uncover the reason behind these happenings but get roped in a dangerous cycle. Both also slightly tackle family as the characters get so invested in these cases that they start to neglect their family members who are in need of care and risk putting them at danger.
