Could have been good

I have not yet finished this drama but I could tell you all that it would take me a long long time to finish this unless I just fast forward every scene the FL is in which is not ideal. I don't mind the plot at all. What kills it for me is the FL. By far, the WORST actress I have ever seen in a show or movie. She does not have any emotion at all. It's almost like she is trying too hard to look cute in ALL SCENES. The drunken scene in early ep was really really bad. Majority of the time, she looks like this :O (pouty mouth, eyes look like she has no idea wtf is going on). She cannot even fake feeling excited or tired. I can't feel her anger or sadness.

I am watching the show along with Bridgerton (Netflix) and Business Proposal ,the acting from this show is the weakest which is sad because this show is supposed to be the MOST EXCITING show with all the gaming and competition but even when they win a game or she wins a match, you simply don't share the excitement.

This drama was not for me.

Xu Kai has a drama coming out with Yang Mi. I started this drama so I may fall for him, so that when I see him with YM, I'll like him more.

Worst. Decision. Ever.

I've been seriously watching dramas for 2 years now and I know what I like and what I do not like.... And I don't like this drama.

From the acting, to the story to the music, absolutely nothing is memorable or entertaining enought to continue watching.

The only e-sports related drama I ever watched was Go Go Squid and if it weren't for Yang Zi and Li Xian's beautifully adorable (although ridiculously frustrating) romance, then I would not have finished it. Also, the way the e-sports storyline was written was so brilliant and captivating that I rooted for them in every competition they had. I don't have those feelings for FIYS. I don't care about the romance or the e-sports and from the 8 episodes I've watched, that's all there is to it. It ticks off many of my favourite cliches and tropes from dramas and executes them poorly.

Then there's the lackluster chemistry between Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao. I just roll my eyes at everything they do together. Sometimes cliche Main Leads that are written in this way can capture the audience and make us love them and everything they do, but it takes the skill of the actor and the production and editing crew to bring them to life on-screen. XK and CX's characters have no life. Although XK is trying his best, he is only as good as his co-star. I know nothing about CX nor have I seen her other works and this drama was really not the way to start things off. I remember her only having three facial expressions the entire 8 episodes.

The script didn't help at all, either. I skipped through most of the dialogue because I knew what they were going to say. I have no issues with tropey dramas. I sometimes love them. However, this drama was nothing but poorly executed tropes.

Then there's the side characters who aren't memorable either. If I can't watch the drama for the mains, I should at least be left with a supporting cast that would make me reconsider continuing the drama.....in FIYS, there is no such supporting cast. I kind of liked CX's ex in the drama. Whenever they showed the flashbacks to their relationship, those moments were sweet and natural. Much better than whatever was going in with CX and XK's characters. If I'd been the screenwriter, I would have written the ex as less sexist to women in e-sports, gotten him and CX back together, then XK would have ended up with his old teammate from South Korea. Ever if CX didn't end up with anyone and just achieved greater things in the e-sports world, that would have been a good ending too.

I'm not in the business of watching something I don't like at all.

If you're a fan of any of the cast, this is a very subjective opinion on FIYS and their acting. Maybe if watch their other dramas/movies, I'll begin to like them, but FIYS was the worst decision I ever made in terms of being introduced to XK. I'll just wait for She and Her Perfect Husband to be released, just incase I do more damage than good.

*EDIT*

This drama was so boring, I didn't even realise until after posting this review that freaking SEVENTEEN and WAYV sing OSTs.

( ≧Д≦)
(个_个)

I'll listen to the soundtrack separately.

Esports, Romance, and a Whole Lot of Heart – A Cliché Done Right!

Review:
Oh, where do I even begin with Falling Into Your Smile? This drama had me hooked from the first episode, and by the end, I was rewatching my favorite moments just to relive the kyaa-worthy scenes! 😍 If you’re looking for a perfect blend of competitive spirit, fluffy romance, and a pinch of drama, this one’s a winner. 🏆

Why I Loved It:
The esports setting was chef’s kiss 👌. It didn’t just serve as a cool backdrop but actually played a vital role in shaping the characters and their relationships. Watching Tong Yao (Cheng Xiao) navigate the male-dominated gaming industry while asserting her skills was empowering. 🖥️ And let’s not forget Lu Sicheng (Xu Kai), the brooding captain whose every smirk sent shivers down my spine. 😏

What stood out to me was the dynamic between the ZGDX team members. 💕 They felt like a family—arguing, teasing, but always supporting one another. 97 and Lao K are scene-stealers with their comedic timing (snicker snicker). As someone who loves camaraderie and light-hearted humor, their antics made the story even more delightful.

The Romance Factor:
The romance here is a slow burn, but OH SO WORTH IT. 🔥 Watching Lu Sicheng’s cold exterior melt around Tong Yao is a treat. Their chemistry feels natural and heartfelt. And can we talk about the playful banter? Tong Yao’s sass and Lu Sicheng’s witty comebacks were pure gold. 😍

What Could Have Been Better:
While the focus on esports was great, I felt that some of the second leads and subplots weren’t fully fleshed out. I would’ve loved more depth for Ai Jia and Su Luo’s story—it had so much potential! That said, the main couple and the team dynamics kept me thoroughly entertained.

Final Thoughts:
This is a drama that makes you laugh, swoon, and cheer (wooohooo!). It’s perfect for fans of light-hearted romances with a touch of ambition and teamwork. It left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling and a newfound appreciation for the esports world. Highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for something fun yet meaningful.

My emotional support drama fr

“Falling Into Your Smile” is a whole vibe. It’s funny, comforting, and effortlessly romantic. It’s the kind of drama that makes you kick your feet and giggle while watching—and honestly, those are the best kinds. What seals the deal, though, is the chemistry between Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao. You feel the tension, the butterflies, the yearning. It’s the kind of performance that makes you believe they have something off-screen too (and I will not be convinced otherwise). If comfort dramas were a genre in itself, this would be the gold standard.

One of the bests cdramas out here !!

This is exactly my 30th cdrama watched, and it is the first one that I didn't have any doubt to grade. This is obviously a 10 out of 10!
Well, I have to say I didn't have "that" feeling of excitment when I was about to watch Falling Into Your Smile. I thought it would be just another e-sports cdrama with cute vibes. But god, look at myself being completly wrong!! I became obsessed with our little Smiling and our hottie Chessman.
I loved the way their relatioship grew:
kinda enemies to lovers with LOTS LOTS of flirts; the way they both cared for eachother... and most important one - how they comunicated. We all know that characters face many difficulties when they are in a relationship and most of the times it's because they don't comunicate! They don't talk about their issues and this leads to unnecessary break-ups, right?
However in this cdrama, there are no dramas (well there are but not those big ones lol) because they talk about their problems and solve them together.
They have one of the most beautiful and healthy relationships that I've watched in +200 dramas.

About the acting, I'm happy to see Cheng Xiao's development! And for Xu Kai, it is the first drama that I have watched with him, and I think it's good ((HIS SMILE!!!!)) Overall it was really good!

One thing that got me shook was the special effects when they were competing playing videogames. They were so well made and it was nice to see something different.

Guys, seriously, you have to watch this. The way I smiled and laughed ALL the time beacuse of this!! If you want to watch a fluffy, chill, kinda comedian, super cute, and enjoy e-sports, watch this masterpiece.

Best Gaming-Romance Drama

As a female gamer myself, I love that the female lead (Smiling) isn't some helpless pretty girl who needs constant saving. I also appreciate how they included a lot of the challenges female gamers face. (Being picked on/ganged up on, being constantly criticized for not only how the play but also how they look/act, having to prove yourself) She really holds her own throughout the story and it made me want to root for her even more.

I also liked how they portrayed Smiling's Ex. They didn't make him the stereotypical mean ex-boyfriend. I found the way they approached their relationship to be more life like and not overly dramatize.

The fighting cutscenes are just so so good. I'm not a huge fan of animation but I was pleasantly surprised when I found myself looking forward to the next fight scene. I want more!

I have re-watched this drama and thoroughly enjoy it every time. I truly hope they come out with a season 2.

Would 100% recommend.

Soft love, sharp chemistry

This drama proves you don’t need drama to make something addictive. “Falling Into Your Smile” is soft but never boring, slow but never dragging. It’s like your favorite hoodie—reliable, cozy, always makes you feel better. And the OTP? Sizzling. Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao are so natural together, I had to double-check if they were a real couple. There’s a tenderness in their scenes that’s hard to fake. You feel like you’re watching two people genuinely falling in love. I’ve rewatched this more times than I can admit. No shame.

Motivational E-Sports Romance

Story
- Nuanced and in-depth exploration of the trials and challenges professional e-sports players face, as well as the challenges women in e-sports face

Acting
- I think Cheng Xiao's acting is ok .. She's a bit inexperienced but watchable. Xu Kai is pretty good. And the rest of the cast are lovable. I love that they gave each ZGDX member besides Lu Sicheng and Tong Yao some pretty balanced screentime

Production
- The esports scenes themselves were pretty fun to watch.

OST
- The OST is ok but not that memorable for me.

I loved the steady relationship

Simple & LOVABLE
I have rewatched this probably too many times and still can't get enough of it.
The story is simple enough with little drama enough to be enjoyable without being overbearing on the simplicity of the plot.
The FL actress is new from what i have read and could have done a better job but wasn't disappointing either, a little flat but it worked out fine due to her character.
I am not a gamer but it was simple and easily understandable, i did skip a few gaming scenes as they were a bit repetitive.
I LOVED that there was no breakup and though if could be called a slow burn of sort it really wasn't as even before the actual relationship the love was clear.

A great story with well-developed romance, and AMAZING SUPPORTING CHARACTERS

I just want to say the side characters in this drama are amazing, I love so much of the supporting characters. I love how they all have their own personalities and are fun to watch, my favourites are Lao K (his actor, Gao Han is so attractive I started following him after this drama FHSJHS he was so eye-catching fr) and Lu Yue, the brother. Everyone's acting was great, the leads were greatt. Also Jian Yang, I liked him as well. (his actor zhai xiaowen is so pretty too JDSDJD) The vibes are very pretty in this drama, the purple and red atmosphere of the teams are pleasing to look at and make the characters look so good. The team and their friendship >>>>. The teams constant teasing and their bond is so admirable. I so enjoyed learning more about the team's history and Lao K and Lu Yue's past, though K's one was rlly quick. All these made the ending impact way bigger and more satisfactory. (the 2nd couple was pretty good too)
I rated the music lower as none of it really caught my attention. SEVENTEEN's Ost was nice but its too repetitive for me. Anyways, that aside. The story and characters are all great and I really enjoyed it. I want to mention the development of the romance between Tong Yao and Lu Si Cheng. I find it really natural and well-developed, and they are pretty cute too
I like the gaming aspect, though I did skip ahead on the video game animations I just simply didn't care enough.
Anyways, I recommend it, its a good drama with amazing characters and a good romance and interesting story.

.
even female lead ex boyfriend was so cute and was so understanding the way he gave his blessing to both lead .....uff this drama feels too real and friendship of female lead and her bestie is just too great......

.
.
