Yes, the main couple is cute but I fell for the second

This drama was so cheesy that sometimes I felt a second hand embarrassment. If you want romance with no one to meddle in, this is for you. Over here everything is so likable from the beauty of the leads, passing by the second leads that steal the show to the scenery.

Let's start by praising the story: very simple, warm and gentle. I love how easy to follow it was, the characters were super likable, there was no crazy love triangle, not crazy second leads and very nice in laws. Maybe the only issue here, like in real life itself, is our own insecurities when it comes to love and dreams. Here are the number of things I loved from this drama:

1. Talking about those insecurities, I think the leads portrayed it very well. Even if you are someone in your 30s, professional and with a very good life, you can have it. We are not perfect, we are all humans and I really liked how this is shown in Liang Chen's life. She had an amazing career but not at all as she wanted to and she was always afraid of hurting people next to her. Her love story with Lu Jing was so simple that it was there from the very beginning, never broke up, never had a fight, everything was so easy to deal with because, that is a healthy relationship! learnt it!

2. Lu Jing, was an amazing character, that's how you get an older woman to like you. He was mature for his age, caring, gentle, sweet, respectful but not silly, he was not naive at all and very had tons of passion. I loved how he understood very quickly when he had make a mistake and how he tried to fix it. I adore how he was never manipulated and very smart in handling situations, I've to say we all want a partner like that. And man he knew how to sweet talk everything and how to kiss, amazing. Honestly? everything about him was confidence, he knew he could get it and he got it. That's how everything worked in life for him.

3. Jia Yun was a very sad character here, to talk about loneliness and success... He wasn't assertive enough to get the woman he liked, he was afraid because he knew she will reject him, she had never liked him back and he already knew it. However, he was a good second lead, respectful and a very nice friend.

One of my favorite scenes was when FL compares them, she knows Lu Jing will leave everything to love her but Jia Yun, as a grown man was more focused in his career and will love her but not with the same passion he loves his success, anyone next to him will be only a small part of his life. And that's the reason why she decides not to date him. After all Jia Yun was a very successful man and can get anything he wants but his career is first for him, which is not bad, he was an amazing actor.

4. If you like the first couple with their easy love story, prepare yourself for the second because that thing will show you how persistence actually work.
I love the second couple, I adore them and they were my favorite. I will tell you why:
At first I didn't like Shan Shan, that girl was beautiful but too cold for me to like. I couldn't understand her attitude but then after her story develops and they explain why she is like that... she is my favorite now. Even if they didn't say it, you can tell that girl had depression, depression for years and many will say: it is just a break up, he is a jerk get over it.
But if you ever got your heart broken you can understand her. Her ex stole her time, her love and her music, he made her feel so stup*d and small that she was barely able to do a thing in order to survive. I'm sure she was the most talented out of the group of friends, but she got stuck in that feeling of being small, being nothing, nada, that that's how she was living.
Add to it how she isolated herself, and more than isolation, everyone gave up on her. Do not blame FL or anyone else, but I truly feel sorry for how lonely she was, that is the demonstration that if you do not want to be helped no one can help you
However! crazy puppy Sun Bin Yun appears, out of nowhere, he remembers her, he never forgot her, he admires her because he knows how talented she was back then! and he is the only one that remembers how amazing she is, enough to respect her and help her shine again.
Sun Bin Yun is like that ray of sunshine that never gives up, he is the one that helps her continue with music, with life, that helps her laugh again, have friends and remember how to live. It is so beautiful how for the very first time after years she laughs and it is because of him. But that puppy is to shy and can help her, take care of her and do anything for her except... confess his feelings. And I really like how she takes that step into romance for the sake of both of the,.

She composes, she makes music and she starts living again.

The only thing I don't like about this drama was that, they deserved more time in the screen, I deserve to watch fluffly love scenes between Shan Shan and Bin Yun, please.


All in all, I like it, I love it, I enjoyed it.

Plus: I don't dare to say this drama was a slice of life, because it is not very common to fall in love with your idol in real life. However, we've all dreamed about it at some point, so it was very sweet to see this in a more down to earth drama.

Each episodes of this drama gave me simple joys ..

Was a great show. I need Season 2.
Didn't even notice how fast this ends. I keep on wanting for more.

At first I feel like Lu Jing seem to be full of himself for wanting to be with Liang Chen. But, that's how you get a girl. Be full of yourself, be confident, be you and be sincere. After watching this, I feel like wanting a younger bf. Hahaha.

Anyway, it's not all good. There are few unrealistic and realistic scenes. First few episodes are full of coincidences and makes it look like destiny is trying to toy with the leads which make it more exciting.

Give it a try. It's like a sweet candy. Their relationship made me jealous. Lu Jing is so cute. 😉

I'm very disappointed in this drama to be honest. It was honestly an e-sports drama to begin in the beginning and it was honestly not that good. There were literally so many coincidence in the show that made me very mad, like there's honestly no way that someone is that lucky. I also didn't understand why Liang Cheng was trying to learn to play video games in the beginning. Also I literally didn't care about the video game part. Literally in the beginning of the show, it kept showing us the scene inside the video game and it made me very upset because I honestly felt like it was wasting my time, and there was no point of even adding those scenes in there because whether you watch it or not it doesn't affect the story at all.. If those scenes weren't in there the show would probably be cut down to like 25 episodes.

My other biggest problem is the fact that Liang Chen is a celebrity, however it's like she is purposely trying to get the paparazzi's attention by not wearing a mask or sunglasses to certain places. I don't think it was the actresses fault but maybe more of the crew and the setup of the drama. Also it's not possible for someone to fall in love with an online friend, especially since he doesn't know who is on the other side, and when the two of them finally meet, it's like love is in the air. Lu Jing's side makes sense since who wouldn't love their favorite celebrity, however how did Liang Chen fall in love with Lu Jing when she never even met him excpet online, that called she likes him based on his looks. They literally never hung out and it made me really mad.

Also what is up with Lu Jing's friends, when your friend is dating a celebrity the first ting you do is ask Lu Jing why he never told you that he was dating a celebrity, instead there reaction was to start praising Lu Jing. The show really disappointed me, however the acting was good and their love scences were cite and sweet.

Chemistry is off the charts

This drama has a slow start. It’s still enjoyable but it doesn’t get 10 stars good until after episode 10 when the leads meet in real life. The chemistry is off the the charts. The kiss and love scenes are some of the best I have seen in a C-drama! This drama is up there with love o2o and you are my glory for best gaming related rom coms of all time. A healthy love story with communication and understanding is on display. There are so many laugh out loud moments!

I have a few minor complaints
The secondary male love interest was way too old for me to take him seriously. He’s a gorgeous man but he’s 50 years old while the female lead is in her early 20s … and he’s her superior in the music industry…. This just gave me bad vibes.

Next there is a depressed supporting character. Honestly i started fast forwarding through all her scenes.

Cute Heartwarming Drama

Overall I really enjoyed this drama. It is very cute and I loved the music. I will say it was a bit of an agonizing, nail bitting wait for them to realize who their online partners were.

The only reason why I didn't score it higher was purely due to some plot holes. I really wanted to see more happen between Liang Chen and Meng Lan Zhi. They pitted the two against each other in the very start of the drama. Meng Lan Zhi caused a lot of issues for Liang Chen (one which almost made the main couple not date)and yet after the TV battle (which ended with a rather reasonable acceptance of defeat) she is never mentioned again. Liang Chen's ex was an even scarcer blip in the plot.

Another plot hole, and arguably the biggest one, was the whole relationship between Ma Shen Shen and Lin Qi (her ex). We learned that Lin Qi pretty much stole a song from Ma Shen Shen that made him big, yet we only saw him once when he was offering a song to Liang Chen for the show. Ma Shen Shen never confronted him and nothing happened with the stolen song (which Sun Bin Yu had video evidence that it was stolen).

I am also a little disappointed that I didn't get to see Liang Chen meet Lu Jing's mother (though that wasn't that big of a deal).

Like I said, overall this is still a really good, fun and heartwarming romance drama. I highly recommend it and would definitely watch it again.

this is a cliche romcom that depends on tastes

first off this drama is ok.. its not great.. it paints by the number but there are good to great things in here depending on ppls taste...

music.. i prefer the rock mix of the songs.. and many of the songs are good to great.. so its nice.. some ppl may not like it.. cause well it is an acquired taste.. and it does repeat often.. i mean a lot.. but.. for me that works..

story.. i think the ml/fl lead story is nice.. the teases.. the missed opportunities.. feels like a slow burn love drama.. the anticipation.. i love those.. so it works for me.. what doesnt is how the ml is the god of everything.. but eh.. that is par for these types of cliche.. the fl is strong if but airheaded.. which works for her character

the 2nd couple is more interesting and i wish they fleshed them out more.. theres enough clue to figure out the hurt of the 2nd fl but damn.. something more concrete and what a weird finish.. they just dropped the true ending for the 2nd fl character..
i for one want closure dang it.. :)

the chemistry is ok.. its like pulling teeth to merge the 2 stories together.. it worked barely.. but eh..

the roommates were key in killing the rest of the time and making it much more bearable cause there were only so many situations.. they can put both sets of leads in before it gets too silly..

overall its an ok story.. great music .. if ur into it.. chemistry was good

A decent watch for the romance genre

I will keep this review simple and explain what i liked about this drama and what brought down my personal rating to 8/10

Pro's:
- good cinematography
- good chemistry between ML and FL
- good music / OST
- shut your brain and binge watch rom-com vibes

Con's:
- SML: i feel everyone can agree with me the casting decision for SML was terrible and was my only "makes it hard to watch factor"
- Character Background for ML : the promised big data genius in the description for this show was a let down the ML has good gaming skills and is somehow good in everything from big data to sports to violin. The violin and big data background made selective enterances and isn't a constant part of the show
- Character Background for FL : the FL playing video games was such a random addition to force a connection given her popularity in music. The supposed connection between ML and FL before FL's popularity plot point is brought up once but then forgotten.
- Well its a cliche and adds nothing new . But its a well executed cliche

I recommend just watch this drama for the romance and the pursuit without expecting anything and you will enjoy this drama.

My favourite heart warming, feel good drama

I am more of a kdrama fan, but this show exceeded my expectations. Sweet rom-com. Both actors were so natural and had a great chemistry. No unwanted, unrealistic, fake drama and twists. Just a genuine story that gives an insights into a celebrity's life as well as the challenges of a younger male dating a star and discovering that type of world. The FL was beautifully portrayed as a strong, yet emotionally vulnerable woman, seeking a real love connection. The ML was realistically portrayed as a young fan who has the ability to see beyond the fantasy of stardom and loved and accepted the FL for everything she was, not just her public image. The ML personality was a mix of being young and daring, lacking experience, strong values and maturity was superb and very believable. The music was amazing throughout the series.
