Big ups to our boi Seven

Of all of the Shōwa Ultras, Ultraseven is the one typically talked about in the highest regard and, honestly, it's not hard to see why. Often stated to be not so subtly influenced by Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds, Ultraseven takes elements from that and its earlier Ultra incarnations by striking a balance between the mystery of Ultra Q and action-orientated Ultraman. However, it equally heavily contrasts Ultraman before it as Ultraseven expands much more on the concepts of alien invasions and militarism. It's a magnificent series through and through pretty much setting the standard for the Ultra series to follow. Also, you can't talk about this show without mentioning the banned Episode 12, From Another Planet with Love. Yeah, the Aiken Spell is pretty yikes in the same vein as those mutated humans at the end of Prophecies of Nostradamus but like Prophecies the story and surrounding elements are pretty darn good.

I'll probably end up watching Heisei Ultraseven one day, same with Ultraseven X but I haven't heard the best of things surrounding them.

Seven! Seven! Seven!

I watched it some time ago and decided to write this review now. The master Tsuburaya was still shining with his brilliance when producing this incredible work. Ultraseven is not only a great piece of tokusatsu genre, but also one of the best science fiction productions of its time. I must say that the effects are amazing, in my opinion even better than its successor (Ultraman Jack). The actors also do a good job in embodying the characters. It's very interesting to have an alien who disguises himself as a human instead of possessing a host. Dan is a character of great depth.

What impresses me the most about Ultraseven is the quality of storytelling and the special effects that complement it. Each episode is surrounded by intriguing and captivating mysteries.

Watch it without fear! This work is among the greats of science fiction, and unlike its predecessor, I didn't find it tiresome to watch practically any episode.

ULTRASEVEN - ficção científica a todo vapor

Ultraseven é provavelmente junto com Tiga, Z e Return of Ultraman um dos seriados mais populares da franquia inteira. Poucos personagens conseguem deixar um marco tão grande assim, afinal ele é tão importante quanto o primeiro Ultraman para a franquia.

Aqui que vemos o começo dos times de ataques como conhecemos, a ficção científica em alto vapor e principalmente ALIENS. MUITOS ALIENS.
Seven é principalmente um seriado divertido de efeitos especiais.
É muito interessante ver como eles fazem certos efeitos, composições e direção de vários episódios, estes como eu disse focando bem mais em alienígenas com seus plots maléficos para dominar ou destruir o mundo.

Mas de longe a maior qualidade de Ultraseven além do seu protagonista, que apesar do design que não me agrada tanto é tão icônico quanto o próprio Ultraman, são os episódios de teor filosófico e questionador. Os melhores episódios desse seriado te deixam pensando, dedos são apontados e você não sabe mesmo quem tá certo ou quem tá errado. Principalmente quando eles têm uma direção tão inspirada ou são escritos de forma tão engajante.

Mas até chegar nesse tipo de episódio, você precisa aguentar o começo que é de longe a parte mais fraca de Seven. Algo normal pra seriados de Ultraman de 50 episódios, geralmente o primeiro batch de eps são meio esquisitos, enquanto os finais são o ápice da série.

E já que estamos falando de fraquezas, achei a Ultra Guard um time bem esquecível de personagens (com exceção de Dan, Furuhashi e Anne), algo que me decepciona visto que a SSSP do primeiro Ultraman é muito carismática. Enquanto lá todos os personagens são mais interessantes que o protagonista, Shin Hayata, aqui é o inverso.

De resto, é um must watch pra qualquer fã da franquia, além de ser tão importante quanto seu predecessor em moldar a identidade da franquia é um seriado bem legal.
