Both drama described the story of strong female lead. And showed how she fight for her dream, the people she want to protect & how she tried to pay the bad guys what they deserve.
And both drama are based on the historical theme with many fighting scenes.

As I was watching TLB and the focus went to the grasslands (Ashile tribe), I immediately got reminded of Empress Ki. I watched Empress Ki years ago but despite watching it a long time ago, it has still left a lasting impact on me. In Empress Ki, we have the Mongolians. While both FL in the drama grew up in different backgrounds, both are brave warriors who are good at fighting and cross dressed as males. But I would have to warn that Empress Ki is a bit more hardcore and intense in terms of all the plotting and schemings, and the characters in Empress Ki aren't as likeable as in TLB. While I can't seem to name what's so similar about the two dramas, I personally enjoyed both .

basically both are ancient dramas. So there is a similarity. hero is from the enemy kingdom spying on the heroine kingdom to conquer.basically both are ancient dramas. Both are historical romantic dramas:
- both feature a more rebel hardworn character and a more spoiled noble character
- both feature a war between two fronts one more 'barbarian' and one overly spoiled, and indulgent
- both have an epic sweep to them with events occurring many miles apart over a long period of time
- both have a tragic undercurrent/fate separating aspect to them
- both have some thrilling action scenes
The Long Ballad does not have the same sophistication in themes and execution as My Dearest, it's much more action and cliffhanger centric.

- Strong & Smart ML+FL who support each other
- Engaging story with satisfying ending and good chemistry btw the leads
- Involve some politics and have good battle/war scene
- Have a character seeking revenge (FL is TLB vs Villain in Destined)
The main difference is the FL in TLB has good fighting skills, but the FL in Destined is more business savvy.

My impression of The Long Ballad as i was watching the initial episodes (up to the signing of peace treaty between Tang and Ashile) was the resemblance to the Prince of Lan Ling (2013):
(1) Masked ML warriors,
(2) First MLs are god of war (??),
(3) First FLs are extraordinary woman (???),
(4) War tactics/strategies and peace treaties between warring states.
(5) Putting the interests of the country before self and protecting the loved ones (family and friends) before self, and
(6) Close friends/mates who sacrificed for the FLs.

Both have strong male and female character leads. The stories have very modern relationships with proper communication, development, and even humor. Both have a male lead that is attracted to the female lead from almost the first episode. Neither have the cliche tropes these dramas are famous for.
