The Long Ballad

Overall, its an exciting and emotional drama to watch with beautiful scenery following a strong female lead on her quest to fight for what is rightfully hers

Basically if you enjoyed the tribal grasslands/prairie culture of Eagle Flag, and you didn't particularly care for all the supernatural aspects, you'll enjoy the Long Ballad.

A lot of it is set in the Ashine tribe, and the male lead is a warrior/general of that tribe, the foster son of the Khan. As a story goes, it's much more linear and has a pretty satisfying (if abrupt) conclusion.

Oh, I'll admit it - I'm mainly here for the braided tribal hair on the men, ok? While with Eagle Flag it was just Asule and not all the time, in LB it's Ashine Sun (ML), his men, everyone.

In the year 626 C.E., the Tang Dynasty faces upheaval following the successful Xuanwu Gate Incident, a coup orchestrated by a cunning prince. During the chaos, Li Chang Ge's family is slaughtered, but she manages to escape. Determined to avenge her family, she raises an army to challenge the new Emperor, Tai Zong. However, her plans take an unexpected turn when she's defeated by the Eastern Turkic Khaganate forces. General Ashile Sun, her conqueror, keeps her as his strategist, and as they form a powerful military partnership, romantic feelings begin to bloom between them.

This is similar in terms of the FL dressing up as a man to discover the truth about the massacre of her family. The FL is also smart like Wen Xi. The cast are all goodlooking as well

Historical, strong female lead, war drama. I believe that those who watch The Long Ballad will also like Brocade Odyssey.

Both are historical with characters growing up throughout their respective series. Lots of twists and turns, and characters that subvert expectations. Both include a romance in which the female lead makes the unexpected choice for who she ends up with. I would highly recommend both series!

But I liked The Long Ballad just a bit better than The Autumn Ballad (because of the ending)
