An emotional mystery full of suspense
Of course, my opinion could change based on the ending but this is one of the most interesting pieces of media I've watched in a while. Constantly keeps you on your toes and the main leads carry the emotional weight of the relationship so well.I can't remember the last time I got so invested in characters so quickly and said invested. I am constantly rooting for things to just BE OKAY for them and the drama and suspense keep me coming back each week dying to know what happens next.
It does a great job of sprinkling little hints throughout the plot so that when things come together they don't blindside you but they do make you go "OH", which is the best kind of plot.
Also, the daughter is the cutest kid in the world.
EDIT: (post ending update: not my fave ending. a little trope-y. but the acting really pulls it through and i cried a lot sooooo pretty good!)

Good Enough
" Flower of Evil " was a pretty intense drama. What is spot on about it, is how they managed the characters. At first, the viewer is introduced to the main male lead, who is presented as a serial killer, psychopath, and unable to feel emotions, especially empathy, while he uses his wife in order to hide who he is. Eventually, the story deepens into what really happened, who really is the male lead, and how he feels and acts. The serial killer case gets the same roller coaster treatment, though an experienced viewer might have a few right guesses as to who is the real murderer. The addition of the family drama, with the in-depth presentation of all characters and their stories, especially the journalist and the sister, were all a nice touch and enriched the suspense and the emotional impact of the story.
However, there were a few moments, especially towards the ending, when the drama felt like it repeated some patterns. The female lead was endearing more than enough times, as she was presented more childish when it came to her feelings and how she expressed them. That said, the performances from everyone in the cast were brilliant and helped a lot to the success of the drama.
The ending, finally, was dangerously tiptoeing around the limits of cliche trop, but they handled it nicely enough to never actually reaching it.
So, overall, seven out of ten.

Without finishing I would say this is one of the best!
What made me give it an overall 10 score is because the plot is so unique and unusual. You would never find such gem story like this. The story revolves around a man wanted for murder who changed his identity and a detective woman. Being married for 14 years, everything was perfect until the murder case 18 years ago resurfaced again when one of the victim's family committed murder in the same way the murders are committed before to aggravate the police into finding the accomplice of the murder 18 yrs ago (because the murderer already died). The accomplice is believed to be the son of the murderer which is our male lead.Hyun Soo, just wanted to live a normal life but things just don't go as planned. As I go through it, I feel so much sadness for him. He was accused of committing murder and he like, own the murder he did not commit to protect his sister (which I don't think really killed the man because of the accomplice's voice record).
I'll cut it short since I don't want to say everything. Pain and sadness can be felt when you watch this drama. Why is life so f*cked up? Why are people so prejudiced about other people? Does being a son of a murderer makes you a murderer as well? Sometimes, we're blinded from the facts because we see what we want to see and not see what we should see.

Most overrated show of the year!
Deceived by high score this drama has I have watched it from the beginning to the end. Just wanted to write a short warning - do not waste time on this drama - directing is bad, story isn't but it is very dragged and characterisation is very incoherent. If you're interested in murder/mystery/detective dramas I would suggest watching Stranger, Partners for Justice, Nobody Knows and Memorist (a few recent and quality dramas just from the top of my head). Everything that te female lead does is very frustrating, and tere are a lot of clichees. I'm sad to see that it has such a great and misleading score when there are so many great dramas out there made in the last year. Was this review helpful to you?
It is so awesome I have to register an account just to comment
The director hold suspense, love, betrayal, lies and the constant changing of events that happen exhilarating, makes you feel for the characters.Very detailed actions and characteristics for each character in the film and they stay constant to their type.
The scenes are properly prepared, the cut of the scene blends well. In one episode 14, where Hyun Su opens the door and Min soo opens the door to the apartment I really like how artistically it blends. Great cut.
Every episode has a few gasping moments.
You cry and feel betrayed along with the story.
Such a great film and such a waste that it is not in SG netflix! Way to go for the director , casts, screen writer, prop set ups!!!!!!
Way to go

Good-ish, but overrated
This show has been getting a lot praise, "drama of the year" etc, well It's certainly not bad, but I don't really see what all the fuss is about. Typically I avoid Korean thriller/crime dramas like a plague, because there are just too many immersion breaking plots & sloppy scenes involving death and serious injuries in them. This one is no different. There are a lot of tiny little immersion breaking things in it, to me it's very difficult to take the drama seriously. The usual live filming character adjustments were not missed either. I binge watched the drama over the course of 3 days, so the character micro (or macro!) adjustments were blatantly obvious. The crime plot on the whole was not that great either & there were many cliche elements. It's easy to forgive cliche things in a light romantic comedy, but not in a thriller. To summarize this is no Dexter..Also early on I almost dropped the drama out of boredom, the buildup in the first 4 episodes felt draggy to say the least and episodes 13-15 were just not that enjoyable for me.
So why the relatively high score of 7.5? Well naturally there are a lot of good things in this drama. I really liked how JiWon dealt with "finding out", that was very un-kdrama like and very entertaining to watch. Also the writing team had plenty of opportunities to shove confucianist crap down our throats & they went the other more wholesome direction every single time. The music was great & overall more thrilling than the drama itself & of course as usual we had great visuals. Finally the most important point is the romance, they did a really good job with that. There are many low key unique and touching moments in the drama. I felt pretty satisfied with the ending too..
Let me reiterate again, I very strongly believe that Hallyu does not know how to produce a believable thriller drama, but if I don't try to compare it to the greatest (or even mediocre) western works, within the genre of "Korean thriller drama", this is probably one of the best works so far.

Amazing
So, that was a cinematic masterpiece. It's got action, mystery, suspense, romance- and feels. All the feels.
Personally, I think the actors were chosen perfectly. The kid is so cute and the ML is really great at getting you to like him and root for him the whole way through. Also, the relationship he has with the FL is the best and the sweetest. She really brings out the best in him.
The whole drama was completely perfect, start to finish. It was enticing and made you crazy waiting for the next episode. To each and every one of you, I recommend this.
It's just pure brillance with the kind of acting that literally blows your socks off (OK fine maybe not literally haha). In the future, I hope there are more dramas like this. I'd definitely be interested in giving them a go. As you should with this one.
Anyway, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience...I'd probably give it 100/10 ;P
Have fun watching.

Favorite K-drama
This drama is an absolute must-watch.The acting is phenomenal.
The story is unique and engaging. Nothing is dragged out. Nothing feels like filler.
The characters are real, and portrayed so very well.
The chemistry of the main characters with each other, the lovely little girl, and the supporting cast too, all comes together beautifully.
The music is great. I downloaded two of the main scores to my playlist.
This show hooked me from start to finish. I'm just lucky that I started watching after it was finished because I could not have survived the wait between episodes lol.
I rewatched my favorite scenes too many times to count and I'm planning to do a full rewatch from episode 1 some time in the future.
Absolutely incredible in every way. <3
FYI: This show has a happy ending (for those who want to know before starting to watch :)

This Is the Ultimate K-Drama That Will End All K-Dramas!
" This DRAMA has changed my life completely! "I am not okay. I am never okay. This drama is not a show. It is a life-altering experience. I swear to everything holy, I have never felt something so perfect. The moment I pressed play, I was hooked. Hooked, I tell you.
Let’s talk about the married couple. The wife. The icon. The queen of unconditional love. She loves him—all of him. The dark, shady, traumatized past that haunts him every second of every day? She loves him through it all. No hesitation. No doubt. Just pure, fierce, unstoppable love. And the husband… oh my god. He can’t feel normal emotions. He is broken. He is scary. He is human in a way most people can’t even comprehend. And yet, his love for his wife and their child is so insane, so deep, so unimaginable, it makes your chest explode. It’s so real that you can feel it. Like, actually feel it.
The plot? Ha. The plot is godly. Twists that shock. Murders that shiver you. Trauma that hits you in your bones. Every detail—the workplace, the atmosphere, the silences, the lighting, their breathing—perfect. Perfection in every aspect. I can’t. Just. I can’t. The tension grabs you and doesn’t let go.
The acting… I swear. These actors are not humans. They are angels. Demons. Wizards of emotion. They breathe the characters. They live them. They bleed them. And the child. The child. This little human being. Pure magic. Pure sunshine. Pure heart-exploding cute. Every father-daughter moment made me scream and cry at the same time. Tears down my face, heart in my throat, soul shaking.
This drama healed me. It healed my pain. It healed my childhood trauma. It made me feel something I didn’t think I could feel again. I owe this drama my whole heart. My tears. My life. Everything.
Every scene. Every line. Every breath. Flawless. Perfect. Genius. Masterpiece. Iconic. This is not just a K-drama. This is the ultimate K-drama. The one that makes every other K-drama look like children’s play. This show is a cosmic event. A masterpiece. A healer. A tear-jerker. A soul-shaker.
If you think you can just watch it and be fine, think again. You will cry. You will laugh. You will scream into the void. You will love and hate and break and heal at the same time. This drama is perfection personified, and I swear, I will never, ever recover.
I swear. I owe it everything. Everything. Everything.
If love, devotion, suspense, perfection, heartbreak, healing, and genius had a baby… it would be this drama. I am forever changed. Forever obsessed. Forever in awe!

The best K-Drama of 2020
First of all, the casting was great, the roles fit them so well. Lee Joongi even hesitated taking the role because he’s afraid he couldn’t play the role and express Do Hyun Su’s emotions well, I was so glad he took the role, I couldn’t imagine any other actor portraying Do Hyunsu. His best asset as an actor is his eyes, he knows how to express emotions through it.Moon Chae Won, I loved her character so much. She portrayed it so well. Cha Ji Won’s role is made for her. She really has so much chemistry with LJG, they suited each other perfectly as a married couple. Their acting skills are superb!
And the OSTs! It suited so well with the drama’s mood. This drama has one of the best OSTs, it made the drama so much better.
