Serial killers galore. Bishoku Tantei Akechi Goro is more of a dark comedy with lots of violence and blood combined with a quirky sense of humor, whereas Aku no Hado is pretty much just nail-bitingly intense. I like both of them for what they add to the genre, but for different reasons.
A lover of food, murder, and a black widow in the background spinning webs and pulling strings for her own reasons. BTAG is darker, with more of a muder mystery vibe including violence. Still addictive though, wondering just how crazy the woman can get.
Both of the series have a Moriarty type figure, a brilliant criminal mind behind it all, who is the driving force and loves playing cat and mouse with the hero and his team.
-Private detective and sweet assistant
-Elements of romance
-Episodic plot/crimes
-Comedic elements
BTAG is more modern and culinary based while UR is a historical drama.
-Quirky private detective and sweet assistant
-Assistant enamored with detective(with less reciprocation)
-Elements of romance
-Episodic plot/crimes
-Comedic elements
-Open ending in regards to romance
-Large over reaching mystery
The execution styles of both are campy and comedic, although the cases handled in Unubore are a lot more serious.
Production quality and acting of Unubore are overall much better than Bishoku, which makes up for the lower res, since it is an older drama after all.
Both are crime dramas with a male lead detective who is rich and have expensive taste for food. Even their personalities and mannerism are similar in some aspect, that I got reminded of Gifted while I was watching Bishoku Tantei.
