He hasn't the courage to love for his being the adopted son of her family who spent his childhood in poverty while she is born in a rich family and has never experienced poor life. Their love is destined to have no fruit therefore he never says "I love you" to her despite his deep love for her. She, however, leaves him at their most sweet time.
