Has the feels in spades but...

I started watching Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol as a stop gap in-between Start-Up episodes. Wanted something light hearted to recover from a particular episode. DDSSLLS looked lighthearted and Go Ara's beaming smile was inviting.

Overall this was a delightful series. The love story is charming and the plot intricate enough to keep the pace entertaining and enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes from time to time.

The OST is lovely too with lots of classical music as well as an song by Minnie and Miyeon from (G)I-DLE (the other reason why I started watching this) and a song by the incredible Sondia which blew me away (and made me cry).

All in all, everything is going well except... I'm going to leave you to experience it for yourself. Maybe I was naive and missed something. It's a easy watch, all the characters are lovely - just don't take it too seriously.

This is a really cute and entertaining drama which was a breath of fresh air for me after watching a bunch of dark dramatic dramas. Piano is one of my passions, so when I heard that this drama would be about a pianist, I was very excited. The two main leads had a good balance of development and personality with Ra Ra being a cheerful, joyful, weird but lovable girl that lost everything and had her world fall apart and Jun being a guy that appears cold but has a very warm heart and is a hopeless romantic that harbors the secret that he is a runaway high school student that is rebelling from his parents. I was worried in the beginning that Jun would just be Ra Ra's superhero and his only purpose would to be there for Ra Ra and nothing more, but he got his own individual spotlight, personality, and backstory. I really enjoyed the actors and they really had a lot of chemistry together. I had just watched Lee Jae Wook in Extraordinary You and I hated his character (not the actor) quite a lot as he managed to make him very unlikeable, so I wasn't sure if he would have a likeable character, but omg I was wrong. I loved his character and his smile just made my heart melt. His character is SO ROMANTIC and sweet even though he tries to appear like he hates everything. When it was revealed how they really first met, how he liked her from their first encounter, and how he was do do sol sol la la sol, everything made sense as to why he was helping her so much. I kind of wish that his reason to run away was more sympathetic or sad rather than his friend died and his parents are being insensitive about it. Maybe I'm just a terrible person, but that doesn't seem like a powerful reason to rebel. Go Ara was also a very great actress and pulled off her character very well. I was almost dying of secondhand embarrassment from the way she was shamelessly seeking Jun's help in the first few episodes, but Jun seemed happy with it and she is a very lovable character that it quickly went away. The supporting actors were also really great and I loved the little squad that grew very close within the drama.

I love everything except for the ending. WHAT KIND OF JERK ACTS DEAD FOR FIVE YEARS AND THEN SUDDENLY COMES BACK TO THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE LIKE "SURPRISE! I DIDN'T ACTUALLY DIE!"????!!!!?!?!?! I love Jun so much but OMG if the writers didn't want him to die then they shouldn't have staged his death in the first place. Leave the resurrections of the dead to the dramatic dramas like Penthouse, and leave the cute and lighthearted ones alone please. If you're dead then you're dead. The "oh I'm actually terminally ill so I'm going to cruelly break up with you so you don't suffer with me" plot line was not the best, very reused, and really just a filler for the rest of the episodes, but it was acceptable. However the last 3 minutes really made me mad and it was really predictable. I wasn't sad when they all though he died bc I knew that he wasn't actually dead. It's a lot like the endings of Abyss and Hotel Del Luna where the main characters, Cha Min and Man Wol both die or fade away and then magically come back for unexplainable reasons just so they can have the Happily Ever After. They couldn't have come up with anything better? Ra Ra can live by herself or marry Cha Eun Seok or start a family or smth. Please make the ending make sense even if that means sacrificing the happily ever after. This is exactly why I think that the last episode of most dramas is quite boring or much worse than the rest of the drama since it's usually just fluff or happily ever afters or cliche unwanted plot twists to help the drama meet the 16 episode mark.

So to sum it up: I love the actors, characters, chemistry between the leads, story and plot line up until the last few episodes where everything falls apart.

It could be great but the 'Ending' makes it an average drama!!!

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol

had lots of potential

overall the series was really good. every episode was enjoyable and really cute. The chemistry was good but I have seen better, i’m not saying it was terrible but it didn’t completely click for me. the ajummas really carried the show and made the comedy funny. The acting and the cast members were perfect for the show. everything was going pretty well up until the last 2 episodes. personally I think the ML should have stayed dead it would have made this show more memorable, and emotional. it didn’t make sense why he would come back after five years.

Great overall but that ending might ruin it for some people

I really loved it overall, it was really cute and refreshing but the ending made me feel some type of way. I was sad when they said that they had passed away but to come back and be like "oh I was just pretending to be dead for 5 years" it leaves you with very mixed feelings. You're happy they are not gone but no one is going to take it so lightly that you lied and put them through all that pain for 5 years. I just dont understand why they decided to go with that route. Aside from that I did throughly enjoy it.

Drama is worth to watch except the final

So... Okay the drama was very good actually. I mean It was funny and sweet... but whats with the final? It was so bad i just didnt understand the point of Jun's death and his comeback. Like why would he make everyone belive that he's dead for 5 years? it was pointless. It could've been better.

AMAZING until the last episode

I never watch unfinished dramas but I started it because to be honest I needed background noise and thought it would be rubbish. I was very wrong and became hooked...there's a plot twist I did not see coming and I dont think any other watchers did either. BUT where there's a high there's a low the story became less interesting but the romance between the FL and ML kept it going up until the last episodes where you end up screaming crying and swearing for an hour to get a mediocre 4 minutes of joy and then boom it ends.

I will probably rewatch but skip the last episode it dragged down the entire drama

That escalated quickly.

This started to sickening sweet, I should have known something was up. I started watching this and absolutely loved everything about it. When it was revieled that Jun was a highschooler I had to put this drama on hold for a bit because it just felt cringy. But low and behold I was craving some sweetness so I picked it back up again. I found myself reading the episode synopsis to remember where I had left off and read some spoilers I really shouldn't have and just ended up skipping around epsiodes. So I ended up starting back up at episode 15 and literally felt like I had been punched in the gut and then Jun was dead. And that really hurt because I always need a HEA. I mean, real life sucks. I need my fictional worlds to make it all better!! So the last few minutes of the final episode really threw me for a loop. And it was so random and abrupt that I didn't believe it. Why? Like... seriously...why. it felt like they set out to hurt me. Once I got over the initial shock I just felt let down. If you're gonna bring a man back from the dead give me more closure damnit! I wanted to see more of how their relationship progressed after 5 years. I will say minus that huge slap in the face. Everything worked so well here. Loved how the story and background interweaved.

I actually went back and rewatched this from beginning to end and knowing how it ends somehow allowed me to bask in their love even more.

First half was amazing but then it went sadly downhill...

*SPOILERS ALERT*

I really don't know how to rate this show. I started this knowing how it ended because I love the main actor and I wanted to support his work. The characters, the relationships between all of them, the setting, the ost were in fact all great ! I fell in love with what stared as a heartwarming show but halfway through it started to lose this wholesome vibe that was promised at the beginning.

I think it's the moment when Rara learns of Jun's past that it went downhill for me : first he's locked up for a month by his parents, then Rara decides to break up because she wants him to concentrate on his exam, then it's Jun who wants to break up with her because he learns that he's sick and he's not even honest with Rara ! He manages to fake a relationship with another girl to make her give up and he's not even sorry about that when she learns the truth ??! Also you have your bf suddenly breaking up with you without much of an explanation (he apparently "fell out of love" that's it), you discover that he's in a relationship with another girl then that he's gonna go abroad without a word for you and you're not even mad ?!

We don't even talk about the famous 5min "happy ending" that the writers gave us. I mean the main story in this drama is the romance no ? And you have the nerve to have the characters reunite in 5 min after the female lead thought that her bf was dead for years ?! I know it was already criticized in many comments before mine but it was so surreal that I can't help but want to vent my frustration here too... The show started with the dad's death then ended with the grandpa's and the bf's (if we don't count the last 5 min). What a wholesome show really ! I know life isn't all glitter and unicorns and all that but please... Instead of a possible death we could have Jun's dad against their relationship or a distant member of Rara's family who appears suddenly and wants to take her with them ! It's cliché yes but at least we would have the time for a proper happy ending, the main core of any romance show ! And we could have Rara fight for her happy ending with Jun because I still thought she was a little too passive concerning her relationship with him even at the end so it was kinda disappointing to see her demanding barely any explanation or show any real anger or whatnot... And maybe it's my hopelessly romantic heart that's talking but I really wanted the drama to show them married, and use the teacup set that Rara wanted to use with her future husband... Because why make her say that if it's not even showed or hinted at at the end ?

It's really a shame that such great actors were involved with this mess of a ending. I will still give this a fairly high rating because of the actors and production. I'm just sad it couldn't be a new favorite of mine because of those last few episodes...

cute!

This is a cute story regarding the age difference between the female and male lead. I believe that Age is only a number but my belief is not to date someone older than your eldest child that is if you have children. Ok, I got off target, I love the lead actor and actress, they made me emotional in their acting. I have a question for all those in South Korea, do the parents still control their adult children of whom they should marry or love and their career path? I love the storyline of this drama using music. That grand piano in black and red was simply beautiful. This is a re-watch for me but at a later date.

I started this drama because I saw that this was a lighthearted one and I was curious. It seems simple and a breeze to watch., the premise being a rich, bright, and optimistic, naive girl Go Ah Ra who was supposed to be married cut her marriage short when she was left with bankruptcy, her father's death, and all the shenanigans. She runs away takes the money she has to start her life somewhere and look for Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol (twinkle, twinkle little star) who has been supportive of her. There she meets the male lead, Sun Woo Jun (Lee Jae Wook) because she lost all her money as she met an accident so she was a bit dependent on him. What I liked about the drama is that their chemistry reminds me of Nodame Cantabile which I love very much. The story is simple, funny....nothing new there. What confused me though is the ending. It was supposed to be a lighthearted drama, sure there were conflicts here and there but the fact that they injected the illness is just plain weird. Plus, letting the female lead think that he's been dead the whole time (for 5 years) suffering from heartbreak then returning like nothing happened? I dunno, it seems the ending is a bit rushed.
