Masterpiece of BL

PLOT: Two friends, Payu and Prapai, participate in (illegal) motorcycle races once a month. Payu falls in love with Rain (an architecture student) and does everything to win his heart. Prapai, a playboy, meets Rain's best friend, Sky. He tries everything to seduce him but ends up falling in love for him. However, Sky is very reluctant because his previous relationship left him deeply traumatized.

+++ Sweet romance between Boss and Noeul. Boss is captivating on screen. Their story is very cute.
+++ But I was more moved by the relationship between Fort and Peat, which is darker and sadder. Both actors are fantastic in difficult roles and with themes rarely addressed in BL (abuse, BDSM, rape, trauma, etc.). Kudos!!
+++ Coherent, realistic, and intelligent story. Beautifully directed.
+++ Well-suited OSTs.

=> Definitely in my top BL list. And I'll be following these actors' upcoming dramas.

PLOT: 2 amis, Payu and Prapai, participent 1 fois par mois à des courses (illégales) de moto. Payu tombe amoureux de Rain (étudiant en Architecture) et fait tout pour conquérir son coeur. Prapai, playboy, rencontre ainsi le meilleur ami de Rain, Sky. Il fait tout pour le séduire, mais finit par tomber amoureux pour de bon. Cpdt Sky est très réticent car sa précédente relation l'a traumatisé grave.

+++ Sweet romance entre Boss-Noeul. Boss crève l'écran par sa présence. Leur story est très cute.
+++ Mais j'ai été plus touchée par la relation Fort-Peat, qui est plus sombre, plus triste. Les 2 acteurs sont fantastiques dans des rôles difficiles et avec des thèmes rarement abordées dans les BL (abus, SM, viol, trauma, etc.). Kudos !!
+++ Story cohérente, réaliste, intelligente. Très belle réalisation.
+++ OSTs bien adaptées.

There was definitely Love in the Air

I really feel that this drama is one of the best ones ever created since they had so much emotion and a whole bunch of happiness and love throughout both of the couples. I also will say I personally loved P’Payu and Rain’s as a couple more than Prapai and Sky because I felt they were less sad and their steamy scenes were off the charts. I will warn you that there might be spoilers ahead so be aware.
The plot was one that I haven’t seen in a BL yet because they were bikers while also having a mix of school boys. I will say that both Payu and Prapai killed it as bikers because they really looked tough and actually looked so good in the biker fits. The whole story starts with Rain and Sky breaking into an illegal bike race and when Rain got caught he met Payu and when Sky got caught he met Prapai. Rain and Payu’s storyline was really adorable and so addicting because Rain and Payu would always coincidentally meet with each other since Rain’s car would always shut down overtime Payu ends up making Rain so upset that he was going to make Payu fall in love with him no matter what and he did in fact make Payu fall in love with him and my favorite scene from them was when Payu won the bike race against Stop and while stop was complaining non stop Payu was having a steamy scene with his wifey so he could careless about Stop. I feel the reason why I didn’t like Prapai and Sky’s story was because of how much they put Sky’s trauma into the storyline like yes I understand that his ex made an impact on him, but it was proven multiple times that Prapai is a green flag and would not hurt him. When they really got to act like a couple they were adorable, but when they had to add his ex back into the storyline at the last episode it was so painful for me to watch Sky cry again, but it showed again that Prapai will protect Sky no matter what. Even though I can rant about the show all day I don’t want to spoil everything. Anyways I really recommend this drama because it’s a show you definitely can’t miss.

I look up to the Sky

This is just a review and rating of the story of Sky and Prapai, i.e. the second part of the series (from the last 10 minutes of episode 7 to the end). I normally don't review or rate things I didn't like, so if I had rated the series as a whole, the rating would be lower. Payu and Rain didn't do it for me and I was done with them after episode 4. I have to say that I enjoyed Noeul's acting very much and I liked Rain, but mostly when he was not with Payu.

Sky was my absolute favourite from the moment I saw the trailer and that didn't change until the end, in fact I watched mainly for him and he and Peat are the reason for the high rating. Sky was the most nuanced and interesting character considering his backstory and the way he dealt with it. At the beginning, he's seen only as Rain's sassy best friend and he seems confident and direct, but also very loyal and always ready to help. When the series progress and we get the chance to know him better, he becomes more vulnerable and insecure, but at the same time, he is and remains the strongest character of the four mains, considering the trauma he's been living with for so long without telling anyone and without feeling like he can trust anyone with it. I was very impressed with Peat's performance, because the role of Sky was the hardest to play and he delivered.

I was very also impressed with Prapai's development from a selfish, careless rich asshole (I'm borrowing the term Sky used to describe him the night they met) to the most faithful, loving, caring partner you can imagine. Fort did great, especially in the last two episodes. For me, the highlight of the season was episode 11, and not only because of the most romantic NC scene I'd seen in a while. I don't remember the last time I thought a couple looked so good together on screen. :) They are both very attractive and just match well and I bought that they are deeply in love just from them looking at each other.

Sadly, I feel that the last episode was rushed and they should've given the Sky and Prapai story at least one episode more to concentrate on Sky's trauma and healing properly. To me, they delevoped the love story exactly as they should have, the pacing was right, and we could see Sky gradually fall in love and trust Pai (Prapai himself was a goner pretty much when they met, he just didn't know it ;), but they didn't give enough time to show Sky recovering from his past with Pai's help. Having found a devoted and adoring boyfriend is a start, but not enough, and I wish they hadn't rushed the ending like that. The special episode was a gem anyway despite not mentioning how Sky was doing in that aspect, because sassy Sky was back and I'll just say it, the NC scene was so hot.

The sound was atrocious for the entire series, and there were several weird cuts in many of the epsides. To sum it up, the editing sucked, but the cinematography was good.

I've rewatched the Sky/Pai part of the season an embarrassing number of times and although I hated having to wait for them for almost 8 episodes, now I have to say I'm glad that the series was split like that, because I don't have to skip though any scenes in the episodes 8 - 13 to enjoy their story. It was a long wait, but it was worth it. Together with Akk and Aye and Mark and Vee, Sky and Prapai are in my top 3 favourite BL couples for this year.

How a simple story can be enhanced by execution and acting

•Love in the Air is a fairly simple story for me, as I have read countless books and novels that have a similar concept. But through its production value, script choices, acting and top-notch chemistry, the show was able to create a long-lasting impression on me.

•The 13 episodes are basically divided into two parts, which is pretty interesting for me. I like this approach since it gives both couples equal amount of screentime and we as viewers can explore their relationship in depth. Given that both the pairs of couples had some prominent developments in their storyline, this choice seems fair and reasonable. If their stories were to go simultaneously, then there would've been a lot of filler scenes and cramping in 45 minutes. The first six and half of seventh episode focus on PhayuRain's story and then the remaing episodes focus on PrapaiSky's development.

•PhayuRain are by far my favourite. Their story might appear convention since the dynamic between the two is a typical dominant top x submissive bottom one, with a lot of sweet and fluffy elements. But that's where it's charm lies. I really enjoyed seeing how the clever and cunning Phayu managed to get the naive and confused Rain to fall for him without the latter even realising it. There were minor scenes which gave second hand embarassment (iykyk) , but overlooking that, I was still able to enjoy it. Phayu may across as arrogant and narcissistic, but he is actually caring and loves Rain unconditionally. He is also protective and will sacrifice his respect if it means saving Rain's life. Meanwhile, Rain is also pretty lovesick. Of course, he is dumb, innocent and easily trusting, but he is also protective and feisty when it comes to his man. Their dynamic was very sweet and BossNoeul's chemistry made their romance even more believable. The NC scene was on fire.

•PrapaiSky are one of the most legendary side couples I have seen in Bl dramas. They're so good that I would've definitely had second couple syndrome hadn't I had noticed PhayuRain first. Their story is more preferred because it had substance in the form of the angst that came from Sky's past. Though it wasn't nothing new to me, but the execution was compelling enought for me to continue with the story. Their dynamic is basically that of the black cat (Sky) and golden retriever (Prapai). Now, many people have issues with Prapai's character having a stalkerish personality, as he used to constantly text message Sky despite of the latter's constant resistance and blockings. Well, that's bad, but I must say that if Prapai gave in, Sky would've probably never taken an intiative and would be still stuck with the trauma and insecurities his ex caused him. On the brighter side, Prapai had a complete 360° change and completely devoted himself to Sky. He turned from a play boy to a green flag, and I appreciate the change. Sky also learnt to appreciate himself and understood the unbiased love Prapai has for him. FortPeat also have a major role in bringing their characters emotions and tensions to life. Their NC scene was also nothing short of sexual tension and hotness.

•Overall, this drama has completely captivated me with its stellar performance and concise story. There two categories of viewers for this- those who enjoy it and those who find it boring/offensive. I definitely one who like it, and kind off eyeballs the flaws, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

It's an original story by MAME, so I was really worried about the content of this series, but actually, it was fun.

About the plot: the series is divided into 2 arcs, the couples basically are developed by the narrative separated, 1-7 is about Payu and Rain and 7-13 it's Prapai and Sky. So, I will divide my review into these 2 arcs:

- PayuRain:
Honestly, when I was watching and their arc ended in the 7 episode, I was really disappointed bcs they did a really bad time management. Their story feels so rushed and corny. Also, the kidnapping was so unasked... like?? But at all, it was fun BCS it was a little camp, but the problem is: They didn't have the intention of being camp... That's the problem. About their acting: Both Noeul (Rain) and Boss (Payu) did a very OK job, nothing special but not BAD either.

- PrapaiSky:
It's incredible how their story is SO BETTER managed than PayuRain story. The start of their relationship feels weird and I didn't know how to interpret the way that everything happened, but, the way that their relationship develops it's beautiful. I was enamored with Prapai slowly melting Sky. About the acting, both of them, Fort (Prapai) and Peat (Sky) did a very good job, especially with both being rookies. PS.: SKY WAS SO CUTE.

The management of the series, as I said, looks more like 2 short series than 1 series. About the race plot: he almost doesn't exist, it's kinda funny how the series is promoted with these themes since in some parts I forgot that they race. And yes the sex scenes are well done.
