Love transcends all

Where do I even start? I mean I just finished it right now and I feel this weird kind of heaviness. This is one of those shows that I am going to feel nostalgic about. Everything about it was so saddening yet beautiful. All actors did an outstanding job especially the main lead (Fandy). The direction, the lines, the ost were totally on point. Despite knowing how the show is going to end right from the very start you still feel this gravitational pull to continue watching it. It has made me feel so empty right now honestly speaking. It just hits you like like a train I mean it is just so painful yet pretty in its own way. How this one love story helped in bringing together so many people and made us question our own love for those whom we love.

It teaches you alot about love and humans. Makes you have so many doubts about your own relationships. It actually literally shows you how pure love can be, transcending even death. How love is more bluer than blue itself that it can surpass time amd continue to live in other people's minds, stories and hearts.

The story is about two people in love who can do anything for each other's happiness even if it means hurting your ownself in the process, about the sacrifices they made for each other and how despite everything their love continues to inspire people.

I will recommend watching it because after a very long time I felt like I will remember a show for the months and years to come. It just hits you right on the spot, makes sure that all your intestines get wrecked and still manages to make you want more of it. I hope the two lovers get a happy ending in their next life.

Sad but beautiful, and you will need tons of tissue, lol. :D

hi, I just finished 10 episodes of this drama. In every episode, I cry until I have a headache, lol. before reviewing, as a note that I have not watched the film version of this drama, this is the first time I know the story of K & Cream.
I enjoyed everything in this drama. I like the storyline, I like all the couples in this drama, the story of each of them is interesting to follow. for me, the interesting thing about Taiwanese dramas is the warm color tone and more vintage vibes, and it's really pretty. the cinematography of this drama is good. The OST songs are also very good, I cried many times while listening to these songs. I want to praise the acting of the actors, especially the cast of K & Cream, they did a great job, how to manage the feelings so that the audience gets carried away and feels the sadness. this drama is sad but beautiful. if you love someone then tell them, every moment in your life is precious, love the people you love. Even though they are gone, maybe their body or form has disappeared, but they are still in your heart. Thank you for giving us this drama. I will keep the story of K & Cream in my heart.

Edit : After 1 week, then I'm watching the movie. honestly in my opinion for the series is more perfect because it has more screen time when they are together (main lead), so we can feel deeply about their chemistry and pain. TT

The true meaning of what's more than blue

If you knew life was going to end this way, would you choose to start it?

As long as K & Cream could find each other, they would. A love can be so deep that you would sacrifice your happiness for theirs behind a smile. I now understand the meaning behind the title. K & Cream's story is already sad, but if it wasn't told to the world, that would be even sadder.

And this is where the series starts.

The story revolves around our main leads K & Cream, but it's accompanied by 2 subplots that seamlessly and beautifully connect together. Two heartbroken lovers, a photographer and a dentist, and a music director and his assistant. The subplots don't tell much as I describe them now, but throughout the story they expressed their share of love in their own way.

The two broken souls find each other and become each other's family, filling in the empty holes of their lives. To Cream, K became many figures to her: a friend, a brother, a father, a mother, and a lover. The story was so raw with emotions that I felt myself loving and fearing and crying with them.

I previously watched the movie before this, an all-time favorite I remember crying so hard in. I wasn't disappointed at all at how the writers filled in the many gaps to make a series. The series has true storytelling--we're watching the scenes that took place in the past. Specifically, the story is told in the words of our main lead K, but viewed in the eyes of everyone else. We get a feeling that we know how it ends, but that doesn't take away from the story. Watching this series became a journey of how K & Cream came to love so deeply and why their ending turned to be that way.

I knew how it was going to end, yet it still hit me in my heart and I cried more than I expected. I always thought "More than Blue" had a second meaning besides a story sadder than sad. Perhaps beyond this sadness, there was still a happy ending behind it--one filled with no regrets and a heart finally at ease. I want to praise the actors who did an amazing job portraying those emotions so well. And I love how the OSTs captured both their sadness and love, they're really beyond beautiful.

What makes this story so special no matter how many times it's told is that it hits close to our hearts. It reminds and teaches the listeners not to take time for granted.

Even if you knew how things would end, choose to love.

Story about Dying and those left

I marathoned all 10 episodes. This drama made me cry a lot- this is a lovely story about Cream and K and the people that were brought together and touched by their lives.

This is a story about love, death, mourning, and loss.

Fandy Fan and Gingle Wang did their roles justice. The story and execution at point, you'd not want to stop watching until the very end. The lovestory of K and Cream, the past that binded them, the people that helped them until the end.

K's thought process, Cream playing along to give him peace and letting go when it was the time. The anguish and the sense of loss when a loved one passes away-- riveted through all the 10 episodes.

TEAR JERKER

Now that Imfinally finished crying I can see to write. This is like a car wreck. You can’t stop watching. I knew from the synopsis that it would be sad but once Instarted I couldn’t stop.

The ML is fabulous and also very cute. He portrays his role perfectly from healthy to dying. FL is adorable and also very good in her role. They have great chemistry togather. The story follows them from high school to 11 years later. Both had very tough lives and music seemed to be their joy. It is hard to imagine anyone so selfless in love to give up everything so the partner will be happy and cared for without them.

There are two other love stories. One I found boring because of the SFL but the SML made it at least a bit interesting. The other is much more interesting with a little twist to make it more interesting.

I liked the music and didn’t have to mute once.

If you decide to watch this make sure you have a box of kleenex beside you.

I don't think I have an tears left...

TO POSSIBLE WATCHER OF.. MORE THAN BLUE,

I honestly can't put into word how beautiful ,heart wrenching ,emotional and just great this series is.
2 SENTENCE SUMMARY:
The series takes you on an ten episode long journey of the love story of Kai(ml) and Yuan-Yuan . It switches between past and present in each episode . Showing the lives of supporting characters going through similar problems.
ACTING:
The acting in the series is just superb. I've never seen a movie that has such great acting in my whole life.
MUSIC:
The music was also really good and I think they chose the write songs to match with the storyline.
REWATCHABLE?:
The only reason I don't think I'll be able to rewatch it again any time soon is because I don't think I'll ever be emotionally prepared to cry that much again. And this is coming from someone who hasn't cried in any drama before (including move to heaven). I mean I JUST finished it and I'm still questioning if I'm happy or sad. My hand
is literally burning from wiping away tears. My sister came into my room to comfort me from how hard I cried.
When they say more than blue they really mean :This is warning you will cry for 90% of this series I hope your emotionally prepared.
RECOMMEND?:
YES! This is the first Taiwanese series that I've ever watched and I am totally planning on seeing more after this. If you don't mind crying and enjoy emotional dramas I would really recommend it to you. I personally really enjoyed everything about it and I think everyone should watch it like right now.
- FROM SOPHIE

Love comes with sacrifices

Story: What can I say besides heart wrenching... This series tells the tale of two different couples, each with their own unique story. Stories about love, regret, sacrifices and loss. Even though the main couple got the most screen time and detailed storyline, the side stories are equally interesting. The main story revolves around two people who lost their loved ones from a young age and sought comfort in each others presence despite certain misunderstandings at the start. However, all good things come to an end when the guy found out about something which would change everything.... The side story revolves around two people who works in the same record label who fell in love through the loss of a loved one, similar to the main story yet different in its own way.

Acting: I found out about this series after watching till we meet again which starred Gingle Wang. Boy she did not disappoint in this series either. Her acting felt genuine as she was really able to evoke certain feelings and emotions especially during the heartbreaking moments. The other actors and actresses were also superb in their craft but i think the star of the show is definitely Gingle. I really liked the kid though :)

Music: Not any less sad than the show itself. The two main tracks are sang by A-Lin and Eric Chou and these two artists do not disappoint.

Rewatch Value: I don't think i am able to rewatch such a heartbreaking show but if u feel like crying, go ahead and rewatch the show.

Conclusion: A story sadder than sadness(比悲傷更悲傷的故事) basically explains the entire plot. It is an emotional rollercoaster filled with many life lessons. Prepare a lot of tissue paper and brace yourself for what is to come.

More than Blue

“Do you know why people feel lonely? Because the most important person in your life isn’t in your heart yet.”

Spent the entire series wondering why the title was called "More than Blue". It finally hit me in the final episode that the love between Cream & K was so powerful, it was more than blue. Some may interpret the title to mean a story that is sadder than sad, but I choose to view it in the lens that it is something beyond that of sadness...a love so powerful that even after they've both passed, they managed to bring joy to others (the two other couples) with the amount of love they had for each other. More than blue, they're more than the sadness that was inflicted upon them. Their love and their memory lives on in the music they've created & in the people they've affected with their story - and nothing will ever change that. This show made me realize that the loved ones we have that have passed never truly go away, because they live on through the love we have for them.

tears everywhere

I honestly don't think I've ever cried this much watching a drama before, I was quite literally sobbing while the credits rolled in, and I don't cry easily while watching movies/shows. This is a beautiful drama about two soulmates who loved each other so much but could not have much time together :(

The actors absolutely nailed their roles. Fandy, who played K, showed an incredible performance of a sick man whose heart was constantly in turmoil. Gingle, who played Cream, also did amazingly and you could see the pain in her eyes so well. Kudos to the other lead actors, their emotional scenes were so realistic and moving. Wang Po-han and An Yi-Chi's story with An Ke-Le was also so beautiful.

The last 3-4 episodes had me in constant tears and just when you think you know the whole story, there's another twist which just makes everything more painful.

"You'll remember it forever, right?" - YES -

"Some things might break, they might disappear, but they'll exist in other forms."

All I can say, is that the movies were great, they had their fair share of emotional baggage in them. However, this drama hits differently in more ways than I can tell in proper words. This does what the movies failed to do given their limited time. The drama can unveil more of the story and all the characters. And the amount of symbolic value in the hidden messages of the characters' lines, their raw emotions and meaningful actions, sure made me cry throughout the drama despite knowing the inevitable heartbreak that follows until the end.

"I'm Cream and you're K. Our names have the same phonetic "K".
After all, two lonely people, should have names that don't feel lonely."

They are both two lost souls who've found themselves in their darkest times.

I find it quite clever the differences they've made in this adaptation.
The concept and storyline is there, filled with intricate and linked events and feelings... The going back and forward into the past and present, the now and the diary and memories is well done by the sheer cinematography and background music that keeps the viewer enthralled into the story. Once again, is the way it's filmed, told and shown that truly makes a difference.

"Anyway, I can't accept "forever." I can only accept "The next life.""
""The next life" feels like a promise. But "forever" isn't..."

The thing about this adaptation is that it has a plethora of events and characters, between past and present and somehow in their own little way they are all linked or had interactions at a given point in time with either Cream of K. The flow of the storyline keeps it's pace on the relationships and deep secrets the characters have between them.

"If there's a next life, what do you want to be?"
".. I want to be... an earring, or perhaps... eyeglasses, a notebook, or a bed."

That simple detail of changing the ring to an earring makes a difference too. Not a bad one per se, I can see they tried their best to keep the original flow but to give a taste of originality or break the norm here.

"Can we really get used to sadness? Or are we just trying to hide it? And pretend its not there?"

It's weird how I've seen the movies and empathized with the characters, - but in here - with the drama, I truly felt the weight of the emotions they are delivering with every single line and scene. Mainly with K and his silent suffering and overbearing loneliness. It's hard to explain in proper words how much the acting in this adaptation is so good that draws the viewer straight into the characters' personal pain.

How can they recreate scenes just like they did in the movies, and add such an emotional depth?

"Do you know why people feel lonely?
Because the most important person in your life isn't in your heart yet."

Not only are the episodes lessons to be learned...
But the characters themselves have morals of their own.

This drama brought a sense of closure for the characters and their heartbreaks and ventures.
The drama chose to focus on not only two main characters, but six characters and their complex relationship of life and love. Therefore they were able to give us two heartbreaking and selfless characters - K and Ke Le - two strong and love oriented women - Cream and Yi Qi - one professional and independent woman - Cindy - and two balanced and supportive men - Po Han and You Xian - (I know it's counted seven in this example of mine, Ke Le is supposed to be support but I count him as main in comparison to how similar he is to K)

What can I say?
I am completely surrendered to this amazing remake and how it made me feel.
And I can only blame Fan Shao Hsun's remarkable acting here for that. He truly is K.
The way he handled the character' emotions and struggles felt astonishing to behold.

"Regrets are never far, but happiness is already gone."

There aren't enough words to describe how incredible moving this remake was and how it tackled down every single meticulous detail inserted into the plot. Such a beautiful written and thoughtful script, with unforgettable symbolic lines and characters. There was no space for plot holes, there were complex characters, still time to explore each and every single one of them and intertwine their stories in a whole. We're able to see progresses, a growth and maturity, coping with losses and achieving dreams.

From friendship to relationships, we've seen it all.

The soothing and sentimental OST along with A-Lin's amazing voice matches well with the vibe of the whole series.

Definitely deserves more praise than it has. 10/10 for sure one of the best dramas of 2021.

More Than Beautiful

I went into this drama expecting to only fall in love with the main characters, Yuanyuan and Kai, but instead I found myself immersed in all of the characters and their individual stories. That's exactly what a good drama should do; make you care about all of the characters even if they don't have a huge role in the series. Each character is unique in the struggles they experience, but they're all developed well, even if their ending isn't the happiest. Speaking of endings, before going into this drama you should know that you Will cry, a lot. The writing in this drama is so beautiful and deep, it will hit every emotion there is; you will be happy, angry, emotional, etc. And the cinematography is just as good, if not better, you will be in awe at how beautifully filmed each scene is.

The only downside to this drama is the rewatch value, which I rated an 8/10. This isn't because the drama is bad in any way, but rather because of how devastating it is. Personally, I don't think I can ever rewatch this drama because I might actually run out of tears if I do. It cuts so deep that I think a part of me actually died while watching this drama.

I could go on and on about how great this drama is, but I'll leave it at that. Hopefully my review will encourage you to start it, I promise you won't regret it. Yes, it will make you very sad , but also very happy. Bring lots of tissues!

East Asia yearns for their own Kal Ho Naa Ho

How much is a fictional tragedy, tragedy, before it starts becoming miseryporn?

I guess I shouldn’t question that for a series named “a story sadder than sadness” but regardless of the praise for its “heartbreaking” nature, I didn’t feel sad for the two main leads. I think when you overdo the melo, it just starts losing its impact. To further, the dullness of the emotion, all characters, their backstories, their journeys, and identities are presented as bullet pointers rather than being explored. Was it because the show is just 10 episodes long? I don’t know, for I definitely couldn’t take any more of it - especially if it keeps its focus on K & Cream.

K & Cream, meeting through the most unfortunate of fates, bond together as family and more. Only for K to find out that he inhereted his father’s cancer and decides to find a “better man” for Cream to have as family, once he is gone.

(spoilers start here)

And that’s exactly why I found K thoroughly unlikeable. People kept calling his actions the “biggest sacrifice”. I beg to differ. I agree with Cindy’s original arguments, though I lost her too, to writer’s reasoning of a love too big. First, K doesn’t treat Cream like a grownup who can decide for herself — he breaks Cindy and YouXian so he can set him up with Cream (and it is all okay because he is dying). That’s not love, that’s ownership and no, you don’t get excused just because you are dying.

Also s/n: His condition for a man who deserves Cream was "healthy and lives long"... so he set her up with the smoker. I snickered.

But then again, I didn’t care for Cream much either. Her character in the first few episodes was so well done, only for her to become a manic pixie girl just existing to support K’s story. I do not care whether YouXian knew or not, she still approached an engaged man, tried flirting with him, and kept persistantly at it; all so he marries her — to make K happy. YouXian is the biggest victim in this entire story. Everyone else who did him wrong are forgiven with zero character development on their end; somehow, he’s the one who has to understand.

The only characters that I truly cared for were the ‘family’ of three - Ke Le, Yi Chi and Po Han. I wished the show had given them more time and explored their story more, I would have loved that.

Surprisingly, my thoughts are mirrored when it comes to the cast's acting too; the 2nd and 3rd leads were better actors. Cream had this weird head bob as her personality trait that irritated me personally, and K’s constant crying was just… “okay sure” to me. They were still decent though, not bad actors, but not as natural as the rest of the main cast.

Since I have expressed my disappointments so in-depth-ly so far, I should point out here few things I liked… hmm, let me see, oh yes! PoHan and KeLe’s bond. I am a *sucker* for non-biological parent-child relationship, and I was so happy everytime they interacted - their banter and shared love for Yi Chi. The **best** part of the whole show!

Overall the drama feels too dated with its approach to the tricky genre that melodrama is. I wouldn’t be rewatching and neither would I recommend it.
