Making it through another day

"D.P." to me was a captivating Korean drama that striked a deep emotional chord, knwoing it would strike a lasting impact on my thoughts. From the very first episode, it drew me into the world of military life in Korea which i was clueless about... presenting a raw and authentic portrayal of the struggles faced by these soldiers. What truly sets it apart for me is the profound bond between the two main characters, Ahn Jun-ho and Han Ho-yeol, whose camaraderie made the journey slightly less painful although not completely. Their journey, fraught with moral dilemmas and personal growth, before after the final credits rolled i knew "D.P." wasn't another regular kdrama; it's an emotional rollercoaster that earns its place among the best of Korean dramas for me and will absolutely resonate with for a long time as i re-visit it.

Perfect in every aspect!

if i could rate a show higher i would. this show is amazing.
Acting: the two main characters are both amazing actors from what I've seen the main character has the most visible hopeless despair in his eyes I've never watched something so enthralling by just their eyes.
Music: so dam gorgeous every song made me want to cry, it's so nostalgic.
story: let me say I am an American citizen and obviously I don't have any cultural understanding of the Korean military and politics surrounding it. having said than this show is so heart wrenching it makes you want to protect people from this sort of pain. the side characters have diverse story's and it's more then just the military it's bigotry in general that the show talks about. and how we take our anger out on anyone lower than us. it's an amazing story I 100% recommend everyone watch.

DIFFERENT JUNG HAE IN - DESERTER PURSUIT (D.P)

I came to watch this drama for Jung Hae-In, he's so adorable and the sweetest in 'Something in the Rain', the best boyfriend any girl can hope for but in this drama though he's transformed himself into a tough smart capable Private Ahn Joon-Ho. who go out on pursuit Deserters from the Korean Army with his partner Corporal Han Ho-yul (Koo Kyo-Hwan). Army deserters, young men under obligatory 2 years military service in South Korea who went through hell of being bully, abuse, harass, humiliate, ignore by their seniors in broken military system. By each case, it discovers how these bad things effect their mental health when they rather decide 'NO' other choice but to run from the Army and face the consequences. Bully is NEVER ok, Military is the place to toughen and train men/women up, to be ready in more harsh and tough condition in case of war. Many higher ranks use this form of reason, abusing their power or seniority that many become powerless and held contempt. Who's to blame? Officers that pretend not hear & seeing anything? The system that ignore the victims, encourage the abuses as form of group discipline.

Despite all that, Private Ahn Joon-Ho (Jung Hae-In), Corporal Han Ho-Yun (Koo Kyo-Hwan) and Sergeant First Class Park Bum-gu (Kim Sung-Kyun) come out as more compassionate and reasonable soldiers than the most. Corporal Han has more comedic side of him, taking his job funner with passionate approach to the problem, Private Ahn is the 'brainier' in finding deserters using logic and analysis although he did not go to collage and has a rough abusive upbringing, Sargent Park is their superior who gives orders - he sees reason behind every deserters. The story is great, the actors do amazing job, the supporting actors do nothing less than the main actors. When they chase - they really run, Hae-In really do boxing - his stance is perfect. Pack of emotion, comedy, action, smart dialog, great music (OST), no romance which is awesome. Although some of the scenes are gruesome...nothing I can find wrong to every episode, although it's only 6 episodes! End episode with shock, ehemm...what? This is the end???

I can see a mole in the corner of Jung Hae-In's lip (want to bite that), he's boxing and no smiling, tough exterior somehow doesn't erase his sweetness and charms of Seo Joon Hee (Something in the rain). I am looking forward for season 2 and hopefully it will be more than 6 episodes....oh can't wait!! I'd like to see more of Jung Hae-In in more manly impressive character instead of his brand as a romantic cute sweet lovable guy in romance drama. I like him here...a complex deep heartfelt man who has inner struggle, who wears baseball cap and a hoody than polished apparels, who doesn't smile to charm the ladies but seriousness like he's been through rough and witnessing sadness and disappointment in life.

on the road to binge all of jung haein’s works: 3/-

i came to watch jung haein and stayed for literally everything this drama had to offer.
i’m a fan of soldier/war shows and movies, but i have to be really in the mood for them, bc most of the time they’re a hit or miss.
from the moment this show started, i was hooked. even the credits were something refreshing and if i skipped them it was only bc i wanted the episode to start faster.
the acting was amazing, the music was sublime, and the plot was interesting. however, having some outsider knowledge about the mandatory conscription and conditions in korea made it so depressing at times bc i couldn’t help but imagine the real life people who actually went through these things. it was heartbreaking. i’ll never experience this but i know some people have and i am so sorry.
as i was typing a draft of my review the post credits scene came on and i was flabbergasted. halfway through my binge watching i thought to myself i wouldn’t watch season two bc i wanted to watch more from haein. after watching the credits and post credits scene i will definitely be #seated for season 2!

Love it a lottt!!! it really gives me a new view of military if that make sense. i at first don't know what d.p stands for so I thought it's going to be smtg about inside the military like the armys training and stuff. but it's not. it kinda like a shade to the harsh military life, and i love the stories for each deserter. like I love how they show they all have sufficient reason to desert and not for fun, well except for one as far as I remember. and bcs of their stories, it kinda depicts the social issues and how the society are as well. love it love it love it! oh and yes, acting are amazingggg especially of course jung hae in and koo gyo hwan. i cut some rating just bcs i find it hard to focus at times. but objectively speaking, it's amazing.

Service militaire à haut risque...

J’vais pas mentir… j’étais hypée de ouf au départ 😏, l’armée, la traque des déserteurs, les injustices en mode poing dans la gueule, Jung Hae In en soldat silencieux mais perçant… Sur le papier, j’étais déjà assise avec mes popcorns 🍿. Et puis au final… Ben c’est pas nul, mais c’est pas incroyable non plus... Juste un entre-deux frustrant 😬

Le spitch est original de ouf 👍🏻, deux soldats qui traquent ceux qui fuient le service militaire… mais derrière les missions, c’est surtout un miroir hyper sombre du bizutage, du harcèlement, de la pression psychologique qu’on balance sur des jeunes hommes à peine sortis du lycée... Et pour être honnête, certaines scènes, m’ont mise mal à l’aise... Ça fait réfléchir, ce n'est pas juste du choc gratuit 😮‍💨

Jung Hae In, est fidèle à lui-même, il est dans la retenue, avec son regard mélancolique, et sa vibe de mec paumé mais qui lâche pas. Il parle peu mais il parle avec les yeux. Le duo qu’il forme avec Ho Yeol, ce caporal chelou un peu grande gueule mais attachant… fonctionne bien 👍🏻. Y’a une petite dynamique qui fait respirer le drama, même si ils auraient pu la creuser un peu plus... 👀🫶🏻

Après je vais être cash, la formule devient vite répétitive... Chaque épisode t’envoie un nouveau cas de déserteur, un nouveau trauma… et au début tu te dis “fiou, c’est puissant”, mais après 3-4 fois... 🥱, et je trouve aussi qu'ils grattent pas assez loin dans les histoires... 🤷🏼‍♀️ C’est tragique, mais je trouve qu'on reste trop en surface... genre on ouvre une plaie et hop, épisode fini... 😩🤔

Ensuite le drama est froid 🥶. Genre VRAIMENT froid... L’armée, l’ambiance, la réal… tout est sec, rugueux, aucune place pour le moindre réconfort. C’est cohérent avec l’univers, ok, mais j’aurais aimé souffler un peu… 😶‍🌫️

La fin... pas de twist, pas de vrai choc final. Juste un malaise persistant et une porte entrouverte pour une suite. J’ai pas détesté, mais j’ai refermé le drama avec un petit goût amer... ✌🏻

Excelente

Como drama corto cumple con todos las expectativas que se puedan tener pero además de eso a lo largo del drama se van a tocar temas que uno no creería que se podrían tocar. Dejando de lado los temas como el suicidio o la violencia domestica que personalmente me parecen temas fuertísimos para tratar en kdramas, este drama se va a meter con el ejercito de corea del sur(*) y no va a tratar de embellecer nada, desde lo que significa tener que realizar esta obligación hasta el ultimo día de haber terminado el servicio.
(*) me parece sorprendente como este drama va a dejar al desnudo algunas de todas las falencias que debe tener la milicia coreana con su servicio obligatorio, uno no creería que una programa de difusión dejaría al descubierto cuan horrible es la realidad en ese lapso de tiempo en el que se realiza el servicio porque uno esperaría que para el afuera se muestre como un lugar de hermandad y de patriotismo como el mismo drama intenta mostrar y ocultar de todos la realidad.
Estoy muy conforme como este drama abordo con crudeza todos los puntos que quiso tocar y con las grandes actuaciones de todos los actores, sin dudas un drama para ver y espero que como país corea del sur (y otros) hagan una introspección porque puede ser un deber este servicio pero nada tiene que ver con eso el horror de situaciones que algunos soldados en el drama tuvieron que atravesar y que seguramente muchos atraviesan en la vida real.

Un drama percutant

D.P. est un drama qui aborde un sujet sensible et qui de ce fait est parfois assez dur.
Jun Ho est un gars qui semble perdu dans la vie et qui se retrouve à faire son service militaire. Très rapidement l'ambiance se dégrade et montre la violence interne aux groupes de militaires. J'ai vraiment apprécié le regard du réalisateur sans concession qui nous plonge au cœur de la violence et du désespoir des soldats.

Les nouveaux enrôlés sont harcelés et maltraités de façon assez horribles qui conduits certains à déserter l'armée. Le drama dénonce l'immobilisme des cadres qui savent ce qui se passent sans agir.

Jun Ho se fait assez vite repérer et intègre une unité qui lui permet de retourner régulièrement à la vie civile. Il doit retrouver et ramener les déserteur.
On le découvre intègre et sensible, investit dans sa mission pour sauver ses camarades.

Le coté un peu lourd de la série est contrebalancé par le personnage de Beom Gu qui est assez décalé, dans l'humour et qui apporte un peu de légèreté au propos. C'est cet équilibre entre violence militaire et humour qui rend ce drama si spécial et qui vous accroche dès les premiers épisodes.

Le rythme des épisodes est efficace et nous tient en haleine. La saison s'achève sur un twist qui annonce la 2e saison.

Jung Hae in est toujours aussi génial. Il me touche avec le moindre petit regard. Il sait faire passer des émotions sans même les exprimer avec des mots.
