it’s overhyped, yes, for a reason
although this drama was on my watchlist for years, i put off on watching it because i had high expectations and i was scared they weren’t going to be met.well, they were.
from the music, to plot, to acting, to cinematography, everything about this was amazing. i cried a river over this and my face still hurts as i’m writing this.
however i found that some scenes were choppy and sometimes it made me lose track of some stuff, especially when i was distracted by crying, this made it difficult to follow or remember key details or characters.
i also didn’t like that some characters didn’t get an ending when it felt like the story was gearing towards there. eventually while surfing the internet, i found out there were some deleted scenes that answered my questions about such characters and for this reason i can’t rate it a full 10 stars. but believe me, the TRAUMA i went through the last 30 mins of the last episode solidified this drama as one of my most favorite kdramas of all time.

my love for gong yoo takes me to dramas i wouldn’t have seen without him as an excuse
from the very first episode i felt like the story was boring, long and not interesting enough. the villians felt empty and even the main characters were dull.it was a drama that i watched while on the phone for the most part, and i still didn’t even miss a thing bc of the long pauses in between dialogues. i know netflix’s goal is to make shows that people can watch as background noise, but unfortunately this is very notorious and it makes the dramas boring and dull.
i love gong yoo and i love that he has these mature roles that match his age. i’m aware he’s expressed how tired he gets when he films and thus why he prefers these roles. but i’m sure he can find scripts that give him that and make him look good on camera and bring out his best qualities.
also can i just say, the music was AWFUL. i’ve never had a thought like this before. this truly fell so short compared to others.

great plot, mid execution
thanks to this drama i realized i don't like to binge revenge dramas, and that i prefer to watch them as they air.park minyoung is one of my favorite actreess and i loved watching a drama that styled her her age. her performance was immaculate and really helped you feel her pain.
jeong sumin became one of my favorite villians and i really wish the second half of the revenge was focused on her, as i feel she had potential to do a lot of damage. she had so much potential, i really wish we had gotten a change to see her thrive because oh yara opaqued her.
overall a great drama. i wish the production team had done better to bring it to life in terms of plot and pacing.
ps: i loved the bts nod here! finding out you're not the only one in the past because of a bts song was neat.

too fast paced!
i think it would've been great if this drama were 16 episodes long as usual because the romance between the two leads fell too fast-paced and unrealistic at times, but if it were longer i think it would've been best for the development of the story.i feel like the murder sub plot was unnecesary as it didn't really help with the story... why did the uncle want to kill seoha? why did his mother came back in a new body to torment miss jang? was it just to help ferment the story of past lives? anyway i thought it could've all been wrapped up if we only had more time.
shin hyesun is one hell of an actress though and she deserves her flowers with the way she carried the last two episodes!

the best post goblin cure
i’m so happy i watched this almost immediately after watching goblin, it was the perfect cure for my broken heart.lee dongwook and yoo inna have so much chemistry and are such good actors. the script and story line was so cheesy and cute.
i also loved that this drama was just like a sitcom, the main characters solving cases while going on side quests here and there.. watching their love evolve through that was cute and enjoyable.
i will admit some of these side story lines were boring and the drama didn’t do a good job of making me like those characters enough to endure it. i also hated how they treated women towards the end, but i won’t get into spoilers. i think those side characters’ narratives could’ve been developed better or not be touched upon at all.
my rating is based purely on my enjoyment of the show, but there were definitely better episodes than the finale for sure.

a classic
I understand now why people always recommend this show. It is one of the best dramas ever. I loved the characters, the actors and the story overall.Nam Joohyuck is one of my favorite actors and I decided to watch this because I missed him and I haven’t watched most of his work. Some of the dialogue and actions of the characters reflect the era when it was created, so at times I was a bit iffy to continue, but those moment didn’t overshadow the story as a whole and I’m glad I continued because it’s such a great drama, it makes sense why it’s considered a classic amongst the kdrama community.
They went overboard with the side storylines so I would bump them a star just because of that, and the mother returning was useless to the main storyline but it was well done.
This is definitely one of those dramas I’ll be rewatching in the future, it’s become a comfort show for me.
