Gao Chong is enraged when Cheng Ling refuses to say anything about the Glazed Armor. Zhou Xu helps Cao Wei Ning pay for his meal as his purse as well as Lao Wen's had been stolen by Fang Bu Zhi. Gu Xiang is sent away to find the thief and Cao Wei Ning accompanies her. She takes this opportunity to get into Yueyang sect as Cao was a close friend of Gao Chong's daughter Xie Liang. There, she learns that Gao Chong was planning to take Cheng Ling to worship at the Five Lakes Alliance monument. Zhou Xu and Lao Wen have a talk where he questions what his true motive was. Lao Wen informs him that most ghosts wear terrible masks of humans and his duty was to destroy them. On the way back from the monument, the Window of Heaven lead by Han Ying surrounds Gao Chong and Cheng Ling, but Zhou Xu and Lao Wen intervenes in time after meeting Gu Xiang. Han Ying recognizes his old Lord, but he informs him that he was unsure about Prince Jin's true intentions. That night, both Lao Wen and Ah' Xu have a talk where they voice their suspicions sbout each other. Zhou Xu directly questions Lao Wen's appearance at the night of the Mirror Lake massacre as he considers him as a good friend. Lao Wen, taken aback by this, silently tells that he treats him as his soulmate after Zhou Xu leaves, unable to get answers from him. Fang Bu Zhi discovers identical pieces of the Glazed armor in his stolem goods, but he is soon found poisoned to death by a group of Yueyang sect disciples who were patrolling. Lao Wen takes Ah' Xu to the market, spending much on food and drinks. He drags him to watch a magic show together, but it ends horribly as the heads of the disciples who had fought themselves to death while they were captured by Ghost Valley rolls out. The blow hits hard and the other sects vow to destroy Ghost Valley. Lao Wen and Ah' Xu visit Zhao Jing, meeting Gao Chong along with him.
