1973, three years later. Mak Nye's family is able to rent a room in Pil Sun's home with the help of Bong Mu Ryong but Pil Sun is very upset about it. She accepts only at the request of Bong Mu Ryong. Geum Ok greets Ji Seong warmly after he is discharged from the military but unlike the past, Ji Seong is cold to her.
