Apparently, this series is inspired by ALDUB, the phenomenal love team accidentally created on Philippine TV. Dang it! I must say this series is far better than these Thai series I've recently seen, KODUS to these behind-the-camera geniuses, who were able to come up with this timely and relevant yet light and bubbly storyline. The video editing is superb. I'm just at a loss for words. What's more, I love Pearl too, and to my mind, she represents every Filipino and foreign BL fanatic. She acts effortlessly and giggles naturally. The soundtrack is catchy too. As a Filipino, I must admit that the lines are super duper ultra mega cheesy, and it gives me goosebumps once in a while, but who cares? I'm so looking forward to how Terrence meddles in Cairo and Gavreel on the next episode.
No wonder Gameboys has paved the way for other Filipino BL series, it's such a masterpiece.

I judged it
I thought this was gonna be bad because of the way it’s filmed. It was different but it intrigued me since it was the first drama that was during and talking about the pandemic. But the characters were interesting and they weren’t lacking and the suspense killed every time I was left on a cliffhanger plus they stayed on top of the romance despite the whole online part. ——————————————————————————————Was this review helpful to you?
Boring and Predictable
Very cliche and predictable like a generic romantic comedy story. The storyline is poorly written. "Sayang ang casting"(casting was a waste, good actors but a boring story. A very predictable story and ending can be predicted that they finally see each other and kiss. Side fillers are predictable as well. Stopped watching at episode 4. Atleast the supporting actress's character was pretty but it was too cliche and simple. Should interject it with something unique that will make the audience get hook and will see for more.Was this review helpful to you?
Filmed during Covid 19 Pandemic - Impressive
Although this series felt a bit cringey at times, I found the story really cute and charming. What makes it even more impressive is that it was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. For me, the plot is unique and refreshing, especially given the limitations of that time.I truly appreciate the dedication of the cast, especially the main characters, Kokoy and Elijah, who filmed most of their scenes by themselves. They even mentioned in interviews that the director only guided them remotely via video call, but still, it turned out great and realistic. Despite the unusual setup, both actors delivered excellent performances and portrayed their characters very well. As a Filipino, I highly recommend and support this series. I just wish they could have another series soon, but I heard that Elijah would need rest from acting as a BL actor, it's kinda sad as these two have great chemistry.

The cast is incredibly charming, witty, and engaging. Special shoutout to the brilliant performances by KoKoy de Santos and Elijah Canlas, who bring every line to life with authenticity and passion, and Adriana So as Pearl: the friend we all wish we had!

The character of Gavreel was played very nicely. A smile accompanied this series during the pandemic for a considerable part, although there were also sadder moments. This part is definitely one of the best, above average, the creators handled the time of the first wave of covid very well, it is original in its processing and it is interesting that not only nice and handsome actors played there, but also actresses (not a single twisted creature). We had to wait until the last episode for the kiss, and it was a beautiful conclusion to this successful series.

bad production
I think many pinoy fan answer not the same,someone told cause of Covid,someone told cause of government,someone told cause of storyline.and...someone told starting new PH BL(it should take time),someone told cultural,They try to accuse many thing, but they have never accept truth that their series are bad production forever,I have watched PH BL or PH gay series since 5 years ago,That's why I said it still bad productionThe Series don't teach people how to live together and be safe in this situation more than talking on webcam(we should put mask or distancing 6 feet),because In real life we can not stay home all the time, we must go to supermarket, we must go to another place
It's just only ep 10 that actor come out But still fake kissing,fake touching,fake everything in this series, and the actor and staff don't brave

Not just a series, but this is reality....an advocacy!
There has been a surge with regards to BL genre in the Philippines. But what seperates Gameboys, and what makes them the best compare to their contemporaries is that, the show's goal is not only limited to giving kilig and entertainment to its audience, it also uses its platform to educate and raise awareness with regards to Covid-19 dangers, the grief of losing a loved one during the pandemic, LGBT issues like coming out issues and debunking heteronormative gender roles. It also touch mental health, validation of feelings, social connection and tourism in the Philippines.This not just a series, this is reality, this is an advocacy. It empowers its audience. So please watch the best pinoy BL. This is BL at its best.

Из плюсов-это первый сериал который довёл меня до смехов, их история очень современная. A maioria das ações de Gameboys acontece principalmente nas telas dos computadores e celulares dos personagens, mas tudo com ótima qualidade. O que chama a atenção é como o roteiro aborda algumas situações da atualidade, como o distanciamento social causado pela pandemia e suas consequências no emocional de algumas pessoa. A química entre os protagonistas é cativante. A serie é maravilhosa em sua proposta e narra uma historia linda de BOY LOVE.FANTASTICO COMO A PRODUÇÃO SE ADAPTOU DURANTE A QUARENTENA. SERIE DE EXCELENTE QUALIDADE.

Se o amor é verdadeiro, não tem distância que separe
Gostei, não é uma história revolucionária, mas achei criativo o jeito que fizeram pelo contexto da pandemia, exceto por "stories" expondo tudo que tão fazendo um pelo outro, coisa que ninguém faz na vida real, eu acredito, e as respostas instantâneas a qualquer hora do diaA história em si, começa lenta, dá um gancho, mas quando parece que vai acabar, inventam obstáculo pra criar drama, isso eu não gostei, pareceu muito que fizeram pra propositalmente ter mais episódios, o que foi desnecessário.
Toda vez em que o Gav soltava um "baby", até nas vezes mais previsíveis, eu tinha que rir, apesar de ser meio constrangedor ele tem seu charme, não gostei muito da personalidade do Cairo, entendo que pra ele era tudo novo, mas meu deus, vamos ser menos 🆒doce e menos inseguros, quando o Gav ficou inseguro por algo extremamente compreensível e ele resolveu ir contra ele eu fiquei bem irritado. A Pearl, apesar de querida, achei muuuuito exagerada e irritante, forçaram uma personalidade pick me que nem combina com ela. A atuação achei OK mas tinha vários momentos que causavam um certo constrangimento pelas "caras e bocas" que todo mundo fazia na frente da câmera, deixando a situação meio fora da realidade, parecendo uma novela mexicana.

Divisor de águas
Posso dizer sem medo de errar que essa série foi a melhor aposta das Filipinas durante o auge da pandemia de COVID- 19. Falo das Filipinas porque lá estavam mergulhando no mundo BL justamente quando a pandemia veio e parou tudo, e posso dizer que algumas dezenas de séries de baixíssima qualidade foram entregues por eles, principalmente através do You Tube. Mas do nada, eles simplesmente nos entregaram um plot inovador, respeitando os protocolos sanitários e tendo o cuidado de incentivar as pessoas a se cuidarem o máximo possível. Essa série nos fez rir muito, chorar muito, surtar de amores, parece que estou ouvindo a voz do Gav chamando Cairo de bebê. A história se passa majoritariamente com os personagens se falando através da internet, e aborda temas referentes à pandemia, que naquele momento estava assolando o mundo inteiro, e apesar de se passar com personagens distantes uns dos outros, conseguiram abordar temas familiares, sentimentais, amizades, foi mostrada a dor do luto por perder alguém amado para o Covid, inclusive teve o beijo épico dos dois, através de uma barreira plástica. Enfim, com certeza Gameboys gravou seu nome na história dos BL's, tanto que depois da série tivemos uma outra série derivada dela, "Pearl next door" falando sobre a personagem Pearl, interpretada pela carismática Adriana So, dessa série se derivou o filme "PaThirsty", e teve também o "Game boys the movie", um foi um filme que foi lançado para interligar a primeira temporada de Gameboys com a segunda, que iniciou recentemente. Em suma, um sucesso absoluto, atores e personagens super carismáticos, uma história linda que vale a pena ser vista e re-vista, trilhas sonoras apaixonantes.
