Its Not Your Average Fantasy Drama

Yes, Its just not your average fantasy drama. I've seen many of them and by far this is one of the best.

I love how the story being put together. It may seem a bit slow but for me it was just nice.
The first 2 episodes got me hooked real bad that I began following it every week. I watched it with the expectation of a sad ending. But the writer decide otherwise. This drama gave a very subtle ending. Its kinda rare for Kdrama-land to give a satisfying ending to most of the important characters (usually only the main ones).
I think the message from this drama is.. whats meant to be will happen regardless and those fated together will always end up together.

Here in the drama there's two main couples (sort of). Where each of their lives intertwined each other and eventually became sort of family.

The actors:
The chemistry between Seo In Guk (SIG) and Park Bo Young (PBY) were super amazing. You can see this on their behind-the-scene clips in youtube.
SIG portrayed his character well, being "Doom" (the destroyer) he had to have cold eyes and expression and he nailed it. SIG acting skills never disappoint and this drama just another prove of how amazing he is.
PBY is cute, bubbly and super friendly. I liked her character here as Tak Dong Kyung a lot. A selfless, patient and caring person that she is always putting everybody else above her. Thats why Myeol Mang always said that he existed for her, as if the Deity's is rewarding her for her good deeds in life.

Lee So Hyuk (LSH), Shin Do Hyun (SDH) and Kang Tae Oh (KTO) chemistry are also another reason to watch this drama. Each of them portrayed their character well.
LSH often play very cold characters in dramas/movie. So this time he has a cold look but soft heart character which kinda suit him pretty well. And finally.. He got the girl in drama-land. The way he look at SDH character (Na Ji Na) is so sweet. His eyes seems like shooting hearts at her and he speak softly only at her. Whilst he is being all prickly with other people.
SDH is very good at portraying her character. A quirky yet kind-hearted towards her percious Tak Dong Kyung. She is like the older sister who protects her siblings. I also love how she is very endearing towards Sun Kyung although he is not her real siblings.
KTO well he is just super cute and handsome especially when he smiles. His acting in "Run On"was my favourite but lets add this one as well. He portrayed it really well. Although in this drama he came out a little bit spoilt but he managed to grew up in the end and be a responsible adult.

Lastly not forgetting Dawon (SF9) as Sun Kyung, the annoying yet caring little brother. I love how he grow close pretty quickly to SIG and LSH taking them both as his brother in law. He is super protective of his sisters (yes he take Ji Na as his real sister) although he can be annoying and joker some times.

Overall.. all actors portrayed their characters very well.
I've read a lot of negative review on this drama. But have a look yourself just the first 2 eps.. see if you like it. For me the story is just as warming and nice as it is. Again its not your average kdrama.
Not all fantasy dramas are good but this is one to look out for because it gives you warmth and smiles as you watch it.
Oh and the OST are super good. SIG sings one of it and I read somewhere that he wrote the lyrics himself. The song is very touching and has nice tunes to it. Have a listen to it. (Title: Distant Fate by Seo In Guk).

Hope you will enjoy this drama as much as I did. Thank you for reading ^^

A rare K-drama that I'd rewatch!

Everything was good. It feels like a classic type of K-drama that you'll remember, the actors will stay with you for a while and you'll want to watch again in six months or so (maybe less from some). Painful at times, but worth pushing to the end. I still have the album on my music list and have been wondering about watching it again.

Deep emotions , perfect acting game, !

Recommend ! if u like deep emotions and serious characters + different shades of emotions - this is what u need !
in East Eu websites this serie has 14980 rating likes ! its mean - yeah all these thousands people watched it and appreciated !
Biggest plus is : perfect acting game , charismatic talented actors , interesting plot which dont let u understand what kind of final will be. I think that is perfect , because u can think every episode by urself different finals .. the most I like , of course , how played Seo In Guk , his character more serious in my opinion , because as he ain't human he trying feel and feels much emotions than main female character Don Gün ..I think he more suffered in the series , he cant help her as he / she wish .. he jus did his best and finally he appeared with her ( what is so surprised me into good reason )
Even support role characters did well their job on acting ! coz all was harmonically in every episode ( even if I didnt like some moment on scenario) ( am usually carefully analyze that what I watch coz I like not only have satisfaction from serie but analyze the acting game and etc )) so I didn't like a little the main female character on scenario , she not too serious about what she has and she not so care about Kim Sa Ram in last episodes when he became a human .. why ? coz if u long time suffered about to be survive and not lost ur love .. finally u alive but still suffer about u lost ur boyfriend and , when he finally appeared ( u have 2 chance ) u must care about him and spend with , every second ( logically yea ) but she didn't .. as he will never disappear again .. also very beautiful music. I think all was harmonically cool in that serie , songs , sound tracks , they helped to feel the atmosphere .. I think the general idea of the serie not jus fantasy line as genre which we must take it but something more deeply serious about everyone can understand for themselves in serie ..

This set my standards higher than it is supposed to be :)

I have been a fan of kdrama since 2009 so I sometimes become choosy on watching kdramas these days. However, this drama surprised and impressed me in a lot of ways. Story wise, it has a great plot, well-written, and balanced. I really wanna commend the casting, because the lead couple turned out to have such a great chemistry. Their friendship is different, and on screen, they seemed to help each other become the best in their character. Not gonna forget the other casts, of course, because they also made the drama more fun. Oh and the OST? One of the best! I even bought the OST Album cd :) and even when I finished watching it, I tend to miss them and watch different scenes over and over, as well as the behind the scenes. Sorry if you feel I am exaggerating, but this is really how I felt after watching the drama. My attachment to them has become too much that I couldn't even move on lol. Worth your time, swear! Also, this is a comeback drama for seo in guk <33

Its a refreshing plot.

I was drawn to this show mainly because of Seo In Guk. After watching him in Death's Game, I knew I had to give this one a try. Although the supernatural genre isn't usually my thing, I decided to take the plunge. The series started with a fresh, unique concept that kept me hooked with each new episode. One advantage of watching it in 2024 was the ability to binge-watch and fast-forward, which helped me finish it in a day.

However, as the show progressed, it did start to feel repetitive. I think it would have worked better as a 12-episode drama. While the SML and SFL subplot was charming and engaging, it felt overly stretched, especially with the focus on Na Ji Na's school scenes. The last-minute memory loss twist and extended it for one whole episode didn't quite resonate with me
What ultimately made me appreciate this drama was Episode 16. Typically, I’m not a fan of last-minute reunions, but this show delivered an hour-long finale that allowed the happy ending to truly settle in. That alone bumped my rating from a 7 to an 8.

If you’re considering a supernatural-themed drama, give this one a shot. While you might not enjoy every aspect, make sure you don’t miss the last episode—it was the highlight for me.

Almost perfect

It gave a lot of Goblin vibes as other people have mentioned. But it is very different from Goblin. I delayed watching this drama because i got a lot of gloomy vibes from it and i was right. It was really sad and I cried in many episodes. So you need tissues for sure.

Initially it was difficult for me to continue the drama with full attention because up to episode 4 i couldn't figure out why ML wanted the world to end, what was this "contract" and why he was soo after the FL. I loveee SIG but maybe the writers didn't write his part convincingly or what I'm not sure, but he didn't really seem to HATE hate human beings enough to end the world. (maybe i was expecting Lucifer level hate).
After the 4th episode things were a bit clearer and the drama got interesting. This is another drama where the story is shorter than the drama. The story and twists could be 6eps long but the drama was 16 eps. Anyway i loved SIG's face and FL is cute as a button so no complaints there.

I know a lot of people didn't like the second leads love-triangle plot but i loved it. Maybe i could relate to it? I liked that the 2nd FL didnt choose the 'school crush' who was rude and left her hanging for yearssss. Their story showed growth and maturity as they age... Its rarely seen where the girl choses the second ML even if it is the sub plot here. I'm looking forward to that day when we will have the main FL choose the sweeter second ML. #endsecondleadsyndrome

LIKED:
- The long fond looks between ML and FL. Main leads chemistry was good. Romance goes from hugs to kisses and cuddling.
- FL's entire support system- her best friend, brother, aunty.
- The happy ending
- SIG (he's just tooo handsome)
- Park Bo Young (she's just too cute!!)
- No crazy twists, no recurring annoying characters,

DISLIKED:
- The sadness and crying. omg so much of it and for so long.
- 16 eps
- Storyline could have been slightly better

Overall, watch it for the main leads, emotional ride, for a fantasy, magical fixing of situation type drama.

My first adventure into Fantasy/Time travel world

There are a few things I generally steer clear of in life, like surprise pop quizzes and, in the drama world, anything heavy on time travel or fantasy tropes. Yet, as a card-carrying member of the Seo In Guk fan club, my radar is always pinging for his latest ventures. So, as you can imagine, Doom at Your Service and I had a bit of a dance, with me mostly doing the dodging. But, wouldn't you know it, I finally caved. And let me tell you, my friends, I'm genuinely happy I did, because it's been ages since a drama earned a solid 5 stars from me.

Now, time travel. It's a tricky beast, easily fumbled into a confusing mess that leaves viewers more distressed than entertained. But this one? It was handled with such a soft touch, it felt less like a brain-twister and more like a gentle stroll. I particularly appreciated that the writer didn't get twisted down in the mechanics of crossing worlds, instead pouring their efforts into truly developing the heartwarming romance between Doom and his fated counterpart.

This story, was so utterly captivating that other dramas I was watching got unceremoniously shoved aside. My brain willingly sank into its depths. It’s packed with life lessons, cleverly exploring intricacy between divinity, humanity, and the curveballs life throws our way. Choices, sacrifices, it's all there. But the absolute biggest takeaway? The sheer, undeniable power of love. Turns out, love has the capacity to transform even doom itself into a mere mortal. Who knew?

On a separate, yet equally delightful note, I’ve been on a personal quest to find a drama where Lee Soo Hyuk isn't playing a demon, a villain, or, heaven forbid, a vampire. And voila! My search is over. He’s ridiculously funny and witty here, without even breaking a sweat. As for Park Bo Young, this was my first rodeo with her, and I'm pretty sure she's about to join my ever-growing list of favorite actresses. And let’s not forget Kang Tae Ah, Shin Do Hyun, and Da Woon, they were impressive and brought a much-needed splash of fun to what could have been a rather weighty topic.

All in all, I genuinely adored Doom at Your Service. It's even made me reconsider my staunch opposition to time travel and spiritual world tropes, a crack in the armor created, perhaps, by The Eternal King: Monarch and Goblin (which, confession time, I still haven't finished). My only gripe, the singular thorn in an otherwise perfect rose, was the second lead's love triangle. It munched on precious screen time that, frankly, belonged to our main couple.

For the fantasy-phobes and time-travel skeptic like me, who usually find these tropes as appealing as juggling three balls blindfolded. Trust me, this show was practically written with you in mind. 10/10 recommends.

Confusing plot, poor dialogues interspersed with some nicely done romantic scenes

The drama tried to be thought provoking but only became confusing with each episode. There are so many plot holes and poor world building which you have to force yourself to ignore. If it was extremely romantic and entertaining then these plot holes could have been ignored. But sadly the drama wasted time on senseless philosophical dialogue and uninteresting side characters. Not to mention the endless crying on the part of the female lead and those around her. The chemistry of the leads lasted as long as the male lead remained evil and Park boyoung remained true to her character. As soon as these two get together after episode 7 there were times when they felt more platonic than in love. Also boyoung started acting like a romantic comedy heroine trying to look overly cute which made her acting look unconvincing at times. I was confused about the show's genre at times. Is it a romantic comedy or a melodrama? The ending to say the least was lackluster and the plot dragged on unnecessarily. The key to enjoying the show is to never question the show's logic or try to analyse it's plot. Some romantic scenes were really done well and in the initial episodes the chemistry between the leads is off the charts. The background music was good though the songs are those typical of kdramas.

Absolutely amazing drama, loved every bits of it!

I loved this drama so much. I was never bored, not even once throughout the 16 episodes. Even though there are some other series like that, I found this one a bit unique in the sense that how it tells the relationship between deity and humans. It was a great drama showing the pain of having cancer and knowing you are going to die soon. Amazingly executed that. I loved the chemistry between the two leads, they were both great and charming since the start. In my opinion, the story was nice and chill. Right after I finished watching, I spent a few more hours watching my favourite scenes. I genuinely don't understand how people call this drama wasted time or potential- to me everything was nice and after a looong time I finally could watch a K-drama that I enjoyed.

If you like to cry a bit but have a happy ending this might be for you. Do not get fooled by the comments and decide for yourself if you should see it. Thats what I did and I am so glad I ignored the bad comments.

Why DAYS is not rated a "10" is beyond me!

WOW!!! What a series!
This story beautifully takes on some complex existential questions like: What does it mean to be human, What is the meaning of our lives, Is there a god... as it deals with issues like Life & Death, Love & Hate, and the stages of Grief.

Yet even as these heavy issues are revealed to us Doom At Your Service still manages to give us a truly magical and addictive story of these characters, who we quickly care deeply for and whose lives we connect with, root for and sympathize with.

I wonder that the low ratings I saw in some of the reviews were because viewers thought this was going to be a simple light drama, and thus were not ready (or wanting) to tackle the heavy themes in this masterpiece? Because to review this as lacking is to miss the extraordinary accomplishment of this drama's ability to address so many complicated issues.
The two leads, incredible portrayed by Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk, add such depth and insights for we viewers...they both deserved awards for this work. Park Bo Youngs character Tak Dong Kyung takes us flawlessly through her stages of grief upon learning of her impending death, as we also watch the seamless transformation of Seo In Guk's character Doom into a human with all human emotions subtly and wonderfully "blossoming".

The supporting cast were also perfectly cast...I especially fell in love with Dong Kyung's younger brother, Seon Kyung, portrayed by the talented Da Won, who added just enough comic relief and innocent, raw, wide-open emotion to his character you can't help but love him.

Add to all this a wonderful soundtrack and you have a "10"... a perfect series!

For me I don't think there was one episode I didn't "ugly cry" in...either out of the sensitivity of the scene, the deep sadness of the scene or the happiness of the scene, so if you might be looking for something to watch because you have some pent-up crying you need to release...THIS is your answer.

This amazing drama was a roller-coaster ride to be sure but one I will gladly ride again and again and likely purchase for my collection...PLEASE don't miss this drama.

Have you ever received a nicely wrapped birthday gift but the box is empty? or have you ever eaten a dumpling but someone forgot to put the stuffing in? this drama is like that.
Watching it makes you feel empty but I still want to watch it because it's still alluring. overall there is not a lot of story to tell for the main characters. so their story keeps on repeating over and over again.

I can't say that the story is poorly written, on the contrary the story is well written but the plot is missing, the development in the story is missing. but the dialogues are fun, the characters are interesting, the actors are hot, cute and adorable.

I was pretty much crying from the first episode owing to Park Bo Young's stellar acting.

But the second lead's love tringle is much more interesting. I think it is also the reason that this drama was still floating.

Usually when it comes to supernatural dramas, the story mostly tends to focus on the supernatural character and his love story. plus they tend to revolve around some tragic mystery or spans several lifetimes. But this story is unlike them, this drama is about this random supernatural dude falling in love with a random girl in the street. no complicated plot twists.

And I also feel like in this drama it's talking about "a" story that "the" story of the supernatural being.

Watch it more than once to catch it all...

This was an amazing show with such dynamic characters that we immediately fall in love with them all due to their quirky natures, but everyone meshes so well together that you accept them as a big family, even the friends. Such a whimsical and endearing story of a terminal illness, that is comical rather than tear-jerking, as we are all along for the unorthodox ride through misery that, instead of making us sad, keeps us laughing and rooting for Doom to punish the bad, yet quizzically wondering why he picks on the good as well, out of spite and opportunity. In the beginning, he has a flippant, no care in the world attitude as he meanders around the world, leave a swath of chaos in his path. He has his ruthless moments when the worst of the worst cross his radar, punishing them as they "stepped on his toes", challenging his very existence with competition he sees as a threat to his occupation.

She steps into the picture, a product of life's mishaps with a lifetime of misery under her belt, taking it all in stride about her new timeline and diagnosis of a terminal illness. Not a customary reaction to any catastrophe in life, as she just continues to face her daily challenges without skipping a beat, much to the shock of those around her. She is so used to taking care of otgers she leaves herself out of the equasion of life she faces every day. She just lets it finally sink in when she is alone, but acts like it is just another mild punch from life, until the night sets in. When she was inebriated, she found herself stumbling outside, isolated on her desolate rooftop with only the ability to face her biggest obstacle threatening her very existence, she then proceeds to make a desperate plea of revenge to the heavens to release her pent up frustrations, never expecting a response in return. 2 minds converge on the same idea, one desperately wanting the end of the world, and the other, desperately yearning for relief from 1 more challenge in life that will cut her off far too young from all her dreams and aspirations she thought she could pursue later. Thus starts a whirlwind growth for 2 vastly different lost souls to find growth and adapt to each other's quirks, finding acceptance after anger, eventually seeing through each other into their hearts, finding a love so scarce with so little time as they race the clock of fate, finding their destiny amongst the trials of the world to eventually meet in the middle.
