Idk why I didn't cry?

Holy shit what a drama was in absolute shock and disbelief for 2 days
I was expecting the ending but jesus I didn't think it was going to hit me hard I'm surprised I didn't cry

All the characters were unique but god they were so SUS
There were so many plot twists O MY GOD
I did have to skip half of the political parts as it was difficult to watch and dragged too long but my god for Jisoo first acting role well done
At first I though Jisoo character was going to be a damsel in distress but I'm so glad she started to fight back

I love the character Jang Hanna she is such a badass I'm sad they didn't show more of the past relationship of herself and Kang Moo but I'm happy they are together at the end

It's based on a true story although not everything but the main story is.

So first of all, I have watched this AMAZING k-drama twice because it's SO GOOD. And Ik that watching it twice is not enough since it's such a good drama but I couldn't bring myself to watch it again any sooner. And that is because it's too much of an emotional rollercoaster for me ... it feels like your heart is being shattered into pieces. The only k-drama that gave me this much heartache was 'moon lovers scarlet heart'. If you haven't watched it already then you're missing something.
The ending of this drama is where you can't help yourself but to bawl your eyes out (I did ever single time). I mean who wouldn't? You won't be able to move on from this drama after you've finished it for some time. "What if....?" Is the question I had to ask myself every time. I don't want to spoil anything big but just know that you need your tissues.

SAVE YOUR TEARS FOR ANOTHER DAY

This drama is one of THE BEST K-DRAMA EVER!! The story is amazing, and beside all the controversy surrounding it, this was actually really interesting to watch. The character development is amazing, and you can clearly see it. Enjoyed watching every aspect of the story but this is ONLY ONE TIME WATCH type of a drama. Very emotionally heavy and actually there is no point of re-watching it. The story is amazing, even tho I really hated certain aspects of it.
The end was expected but was really hard to take in. Just SAVE YOUR TEARS FOR SOMETHING ELSE. I want my tears back and THE MOST HURTFUL thing about this drama is the lack of sweet moments between the leads. I KNOW that this is not a typical love drama, but I really don't like that fact.
Im glad that it's over but definitely will be needed time to get over everything.

Intense Feelings of Hopelessness

My 4 categories are Acting/Cast, Writing, Direction/SFX/Music, Entertainment Value.

I'll preface this by saying I am not a K-pop fan. I didn't even know a K-pop star was starring in this drama until I got near the end of the drama. And now that I know the lead female is a rookie actress and considering this drama is her first time playing a main role, I am impressed. Also, I will say that my all-time favorite K-drama is White Christmas, which is also a hostage plot, so this type of story is right up my alley.

Acting/Cast: I'd say one of the best things about this drama is the casting of the spies. Perfect casting, especially the male lead spy. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing that character. He has this innocent look about him, but he can also have an intimidating presence, which is essential for the role. His ability to convey emotions through his eyes and facial expressions was vital to the role, as well. I think everyone inside the dorm (for the most part) had good acting. I didn't even have a problem with the rookie female lead's acting. Those outside of the dorm are another story. I think the worst thing about this drama is Park Sung Woong (박성웅). I hated every time he was on screen. His acting was over-the-top obnoxious. My brain's reaction to his presence would be to automatically start tuning him out. I actively had to fight against it. Him, as well as others on the outside of the dorm, really brought an unwanted cheesiness to the drama, which actually has a very serious plot that I think should have been taken more seriously. 7/10

Writing: For the most part, the story is pretty well written. The foundation that was built in the beginning was very solid except for the two important ANSP agent characters. I didn't care about them at all in the beginning. I didn't know exactly what to expect with this story, so once the hostage situation began, I was shocked and hooked. I think the writing begins to get shaky toward the end. I kept thinking "I wish the female lead had more of a role." She was great in the first half. She felt like a realistic, but strong female lead. She was trying to fight back, figure things out, even manipulate others to save her friends. The only thing potentially unrealistic about her behavior would be that if I were in her situation, I would be deathly terrified of the male lead. I wouldn't even have been able to look him in the eyes. I'd be way too traumatized and ashamed about the whole thing. However, toward the end, it's as though the female lead becomes more of a background character who looks sad all the time and is silently hating herself. I wouldn't have been surprised if she had tried to take herself out at some point...I think that would have been realistic. I mean, it's a deeply depressing and traumatizing situation for her specifically. Another reason I thought the writing got shaky toward the end was because of the excessive twists. I don't think it was necessary to put in twists toward the end; the main plot itself is engaging and complex enough and should have been fully embraced as it was. Also, toward the end, the intense feelings of hopelessness that I felt from the whole situation had increased too much to where I was almost unable to see any light at all at the end of the story. I think that's a bit more of a personal taste - I need a certain amount of hope to keep me on the edge of my seat and not lose interest. On a positive note, the political aspect of the drama became more interesting to me as the story went on (usually stuff like that bores me) and the two ANSP agents became much more likeable. I found the politics in this drama to be very thought-provoking. What kinds of events in real life have governments and media worked together on to cover up or spin to win elections? 9/10

Direction/SFX/Music: This drama definitely had a higher quality of production, which I really look for. I will drop a drama 20 minutes in if the production quality isn't doing it for me. There are a lot of guns, bombs, blood, I love the set and the time period. The OST is okay. It didn't stick out too much for me. The only complaint I have here is that sometimes the music didn't fit the situation, especially in the beginning. There's a gun fight and blood and chaos but romantic sounding music is playing. How is this romantic? 9.5/10

Entertainment Value: I was hooked for a majority of the drama. I stopped watching other dramas to binge watch this one. It was only toward the end (maybe episode 14) that I wasn't exactly excited about watching it...more scared to watch it I guess. 9.5/10

Overall, I gave this drama a 9/10. It's rare that I ever rate a drama this high. I think this one won't soon be forgotten. I wish there had been more of a sole focus on the dynamics inside of the dorm, such as relationships between the girls, and how their personal bonds helped them to survive. This person being an ANSP agent or that person being a northern spy or this person doing something bad in the past or that person having some past connection that I don't care about -- to me it was just a bunch of unnecessary Korean drama clichés that didn't really add much to the plot.

Gripping plot with a biting kind of romance

I wasn't supposed to watch this one because I already guessed it would be tragic based on the trailer. But, I got curious and binge-watched this last night and it was worth it! So here are some things I want to point out:

- No, the drama didn't distort their history (I read up on Korean history for context). There was no glorification at all. In fact, it gives you the impression that authorities--whether they're from South or North--are just driven by their own ambitions and have no care for its people. In the end, ordinary people only got each other because those in power only see us as a tool for their gain.

- It would be a bit hard to understand at first. The drama requires the viewers to at least know what was happening in South Korea in 1987 to know how the tension and political unrest came about. The drama opened with protests so it helps to read up on the history leading up to that year to get the context.

- Think of CLOY but more gripping, intense, complex, and heartbreaking. It will keep you on the edge of your seat in every episode and frustrate you to no end.

- Jisoo and Hae In's chemistry is on another level despite this drama having little romantic moments between the two main characters. It helps that their characters have more complexities that make their love story more gripping and heartbreaking that all you could do is root for these two's happiness. There's just so much tension whenever these two are on the same frame.

- Speaking of Jisoo, I got to commend her acting. I'm a bit reluctant to watch idol-actors because most of them get to be the main leads without knowing how to act. It's not like jisoo's acting is stellar but even in her first lead role, she's definitely better than other idol actors who have been acting for years. She really makes use of her face to act out every emotion and is not afraid of looking ugly (although she's still pretty) in the process. Some idols are too determined to look pretty onscreen that their facial expressions don't change no matter what the situation is in the scene.

- I also got to commend the OST. It adds to the emotional pull of every scene.

To wrap it all up, there's a lot to unpack in this drama so I recommend watching this during your free time so you could think over what just happened in every twist and turn.

been waiting since Jisoo was announced for this role so a year than a half

The drama first piqued my interest when I saw that Kim Hye Yoon and Jisoo had been cast for the drama, I was supirsed because I did not know that Jisoo wanted to act, then I heard Jung hae in was in talks and when I tell you I got up out of my chair when I saw that, I have followed Jung hae in since I started watching kdramas, with One Spring Night being one of the first kdramas I watched and still one of my all time favourites. The cast is unbelievable Yoo In Na, Park Sung Woong, Jang seung Jo, Yoon Se Ah. All of these people's dramas I have watched before and so I knew I had to watch it with also my fav jung hae in playing the male lead. The drama itself has blown up, with everyone receiving more attention, of course with the controversies which I feel like are finally dying down tbh. The drama is excellent would 100 percent recommend for anyone, its strange to see such a kdrama as it is the first of its kind it gives me some money heist vibes and if you have watched the show you will know what I mean.

Claustrophobic setting

I used to be an avid reader. If there was one thing I didn't like in books, it was a story confined to just a small town with limited characters. While this series had numerous characters, being in a hostage situation until ep 10 (still ongoing), makes me feel too constrained.

I initially watched this because of Jung Hae In because I liked his character in Prison Playbook. But it seems he tends to lean towards certain types of projects; mostly slow burn romances and serious action thrillers?? (D.P for instance; I actually fell asleep watching One Spring Night and DP)

Jisoo on the other hand, was surprisingly good for a newcomer. You would not feel that this is her first drama.

The plot? Found it lacking..... But since I am already in ep 10, might as well see it through until the end.

UPDATE: DROPPED AT EP 13

Snowdrop Highly Recommended!!!

#snowdrop highly recommended!!!!
If you are a kdrama fan that aware of the controversy of this drama that being falsely accused by the some characters and the false leaked synopsys, but now the air is clear and as the other news articles said that the court already approved it to be aired and the production also takes action to sue the false rumours that bring down snowdrop. So, no worries just sit back grab your favorite snack and enjoy while watching it….watch it first and tell it to yourself, I've watched it because I’m a fan of #JungHaeIn and I’m already watched episodes 1-7 and already can't move on from this show #snowdrop It's so addictive and intense too. Honestly, in my opinion, if you want to find a non-cliche kdrama that have a mysterious and action vibe this is definitely need to be on your kdrama-list. Go watch it!!

Keep fighting for the rating!
So happy that ratings increased after being in 1%-2% range since 2 weeks. Snowdrop fighting! Snowdrop is so exciting and in every episode is unpredictable. While watching you can’t hold your breath in every scene…With dark comedy too. As expected those who were fussing about it without watching it first were proven wrong. The story involves a fictional North and South thing like Crash Landing on You, The King 2 Hearts and many more dramas before. Never judge before watching a show!
Now lets all sit back and enjoy this star studded thoroughly enjoyable satire comedy romance action drama. Additionally, if you are a true KDrama fan as we know that most KDramas always makes us wonder about alternate or possible endings and we should prepare ourselves to endure the pain during the ending. #JungHaeIn #Snowdrop

SOMEONE JUST RIPPED MY HEART OUT

I was in so much pain watching this series, from the beginning of the series and especially at the end.

Great characters with amazing evolution in terms of personalities. The main couple made me believe in love at first sight and it broke my heart in the end. All the other characters were very well written, with very interesting stories and even the side couples had so much chemistry. The whole series was very interesting and both the romantic scenes and the comedy scenes were very well played by all the actors. The series had plot twists that shocked me. Incredible series. The acting was phenomenal by everyone, especially by Hae In and Ji Soo (her first gig).

Highly recommended !

“I’m leaving but I will remember you forever. Young-ro, I love you.” – Lim Sooho

"Maybe in another world, another life, we were meant for a happy ending. But not here, to this time."

The saddest part about life is when the person who gave you the best memories becomes a memory himself. I will always remember how it feels to fall in love at first sight and the desperation of their love thanks to Soo-ho & Yeong-ro. I've watched different kinds of Cdramas and Kdramas before, but this drama is the hardest to forget and the hardest to move on. This drama reminded me of Romeo & Juliet...so I decided to give a review about this drama.

The match stick tower, the paper plane, the photograph, the necklace, the coffee cup, and the tape are the things that won't have a second copy in the world. These are the memories of Soo-ho and Yeong-ro.
Their unconditional and sacrificial love for one another was the most captivating theme of the drama for me. Their unselfish display of love for one another was what made this tragic beautiful love story such a heart-wrenching masterpiece beyond comparison.

Soo-ho thanked Yeong-ro during the tape scene confession for making the flowers bloom for a cold person like him. She was the snowdrop throughout the drama. She was the one who showed him love, hope, and a reason to die for. He protected her with his body until his last breath, protecting that flower to make sure it was safe. We knew they were never going to have a happy ending that many of us hoped (including myself). This drama was more of their journey and the hope they found with each other in a rough situation and time.

I don't know how many times I've listened to 'WISHES' OST of this drama because I ❤️ it SO MUCH! Every time I listen to this song, it will always remind me of this drama.

Stellar cast

The most outstanding part about this drama is the cast. I’ve watched some of Jung Hae-in’s dramas and in this drama he gave his best performance. So controlled, nuanced and powerful that I sometimes wonder if its the same Jung that I know of. Yoo In-na stood out too, she great whether she was sexy doctor or a cold spy. The two’s screen time almost stole the show from that of the ML & FL’s. The baddies are so good too. Nam Tae-li is a hoot and Boku is pure jealously and spite. Unfortunately, the FL is weak and it spoilt the drama somewhat for me. Jisoo is pretty (at some angles, she looks like young Tang Wei) and her performance as a new actress is commendable. She would have done v well if its an idol-type drama. However, she is really out of her league here and its not her fault tbh. Why cast an amateur in this formidable ensemble? At the height of a scene when every one was deep in their element, she looked like a lost extra. If only a more seasoned actress was cast, I would have cried buckets. Instead i was left a little irritated.

The story is gripping but yet at times meandering. Too much screen time is given to the numerous failed negotiations and it was getting repetitive. More time could have been allocated to fuller develop the characters who seem to have interesting backstories. The last episode was rushed, although it was worth the wait.

It would have been a perfect drama. The premise of this story is intriguing and romantic. It’s also v cinematic and beautifully shot. It has the vibe of a fairytale. A pity the storytelling and casting were a little uneven. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the drama and recommend it. I have become a fan of Jung Hae-in and Yoo In Na.
