This drama was probably the discovery of the year.
High budget, interesting story about corruption, multiple characters finding themselves and fighting for what they believe is right.
I didn't expect to love it this much. Usually my level of expectations is rather low when it comes to BL - usually when the acting is great the plot gets annoying at one point. This was absolutely not the case here.
White and Sean were amazing in their differences, as White slowly starts to see the bigger picture his feelings for Sean change but while he understands him, he still continues to stay true to himself. The same thing happens to Sean with White. I truly appreciated this because the character development was done right.
I was hesitating between a 9 and a 9.5 for two reasons. First, I didn't like what happened with Dan and Yok. Their story was interesting at first but then I felt like the writers didn't know where this was going. Then, I wanted to know more about Todd and Black. I feel like we need more about those two because Todd was truly interesting and we might not get a spin off or a season 2 but I'm praying for more.

Just like the title Not Me..

Seeing so many (+) score/review for this drama, my review will be on the negative scale. Haha... Who like it...? Just like the title Not Me. Haha... For me this drama have so many weird stuff going on that no sit right with me.

As usual the safe or (+) point first
+ Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat. I can see the diff between Black & White character. He acted good to make us easily distinguish between Black & White
+ The story of Yok & UNAR. I feel their story more neatly than the story of White and Sean. And I quite like the chemistry between First Kanaphan Puitrakul & Fluke Gawin Caskey.
+ The interesting, but unreal, connection between twin. Haha... Yeah we always fantasies twin have this crazy connection, like Black & White. They can sense each other, feel each other feeling. And Black & White just bring us the extreme case of twin connection.

Overall this one crazy drama on my list.... And down below is the weird stuff going on that no sit right with me. With SPOILER ALERT!!! So read with ur own risk!

The plot hole:
- The biggest issue for me... The BIG problem never really addressed properly. Is it about big figure, in this case Tawi, monopolize economy & corruption everywhere. Or about drug. Or about how he just above the law & acting arbitrarily toward everything. What is the biggest issue that our gang actually want to fix...? I don’t get it. It's true what Black & White mom said, if not Tawi someone gonna replace him & nothing gonna change. So what our gang actually gonna fix...? What all the protest about...? In the end nothing really change or at least they don't show us what change. Not even Tawi himself in the end we can see step down from being the num 1 man in business. NOTHING F*CKING CHANGE!!! So what's this drama about to begin with...?
- The second biggest for me the relationship between Black | White and Sean itself. It just feel so weird. One moment they still bickering with each other, maybe just start being friends with each other, and suddenly BUM they start kissing & have s*x. I just thought 'what the F*'. No i don't feel they have feeling for each other prior, no gaze what so ever that indicates everything going to be different. That's just the setting & the director just decided it's time to bring them together & to make it even worse, after that they can't even live without each other.
- Black & White so f*cking diff but no one said anything about it. They feel it, they know it, but NO ONE SAID ANYTHING!!! If u have a friend that change so much until feel like diff person, won't you said something to them, even just only ur suspicion, they convince you nothing diff or not that's other case. This even worse... They'll gonna do something dangerous together, with the friend that already changing, and still NO ONE SAID F*CKING ANYTHING. If me... I won't trust someone that change so drastically over night to do something that dangerous and important with me...
- Who is Black...? Why he seems so irritated and angry with the world? What his story...? Why he became who he is, right at the moment we get to see him...? What injustice he received until he feel he need to do something to changing it...? I need background story of Black.
- Who the old man that show up in the end of the drama. Is he the real BIG BOSS in the shadow? Through out the drama, I feel Tawi is not the Big boss. Tawi more like some face that someone put in the front to take the bullet.
- Who is Tod? What important role did he had behind the curtain...? That's never bring to light to us.
- Our gang break the law but never get consequences, just because they're the main lead or in the drama because people demanded it. What White and his friend did already break the law, not just minor mischief, but they're just never get consequences. Yeah yeah just a few time get shot. This can teach bad things in wrong mind. People can do bad stuff, but that's ok if many people think they did the right thing...

It's not over yet but I can say confidentially that it's something I was waiting for in Bl series, so different so much of chemistry between main leads and side couples, talk about real life problems.
It's just a mix of all interesting things .
Most important, you won't get bored .
There are so many interesting fact in each episode that you'll get to know more of Thai government problems and real life problems of the people living there, fighting for human right and LGBTQ rights too. As of someone who know their government last to last month (around that only) discarded that bill of LGBTQ and same sex marriage. In the series too you'll get to see how people Sathe against such government. They're in a way indirectly picking at their government.

If perfection had a show — it’d be THIS ?️‍??

This drama *literally* left me speechless 😭 The acting was acting, the story was storying, the plot was plotting, and the emotions were EMOTIONING!! Like... I’m still not over it 😭💥

Gun’s acting?? PHENOMENAL. The way he portrayed both Black and White — like two completely different souls — ugh, pure brilliance. You could actually *feel* the difference between them. That’s not easy, but he nailed it effortlessly! 🖤🤍 And his chemistry with Off?? Don’t even get me started 😭 The tension, the softness, the pain, the love — EVERYTHING. I’m officially obsessed!! 😭🔥

This drama had everything I’ve been craving in a BL — depth, emotions, story, and meaning. That pride flag scene? Don’t talk to me, I’m still crying 🏳️‍🌈💖 It was so powerful and beautifully done.

If you’re still thinking whether to watch it or not — STOP THINKING. You’re missing out on an absolute masterpiece. GO WATCH IT NOW. Like, right this second!!! 😭😭😭

This series contains great plot and storyline. I'm amazed how each characters are being portrayed and conveyed. I'm amazed how the story line involves so many things . I'm at awe as to how the actor, especially Gun portrayed the two characters. I'm also at awe to how beautiful and we'll conveyed each scenes. This series is different from what they acted previously, and I'm amazed how all of them became this so good. Kudos to the cast and pd for creating this such amazing series. If your looking for something to not just entertainment you but for you to learn more, this is something you should try to watch. Each scene is worth it and how each are interconnected. Hoping to see more people to know and love this and the actors here. All of them are great and talented.

This is the best bl series and a must watch for a BL lover. i have just watched Theory of Love and when i got to know we have another BL series with the same main couple, I wasn't hesitant at all because they has such a great chemistry and their acting is on point. It was the best decision i ever made. The acting, the plot, the cast, the song, everything was on point. Every character was so good that i genuinely want to see more. I am speechless and a little mad at myself like why haven't i watched it before. Every scene was so good and breathtaking. Be it a action scene or a romantic one, you can't tear your eyes away from the screen. This was an awesome series and I will definitely watch it again. You will not regret a single moment when watching this.

Morality, Violence, Justice: Re-evaluating Not Me 3 years Later

[Not Me aired from December 2021 – March 2022. This review was written in April 2025. Spoilers should be few; however, the review assumes most readers have prior familiarity with this series and its characters. Accordingly, it omits any detailed explanation of the plot. A goal of the writing is to explain why the series remains fresh three years after its broadcast run concluded.]

When Not Me debuted in December ’21, it instantly became the most unusual BL series in the GMMTV catalog. Three years on, it retains that distinction. Edgy, dark, and violent, its vibe represented a stark departure from the light, fluffy romantic fare the company usually peddled. Prickly, stubborn, and hot-headed, its anti-hero protagonists represented an equally stark departure from the typical BL lead characters who ooze sweetness and light. In the customary GMMTV BL formula, the romance of the lead couple anchors the entire storyline, but I cannot say Sean-White fulfill this obligation. The couple is not a failure per se, but it is also not entirely convincing. Could have been stronger. Two other plot elements overshadow the Sean-White romance. First, White’s masquerade as Black, trying to solve the mystery behind his twin’s near-murder. Second, the gang’s crusade against entrenched social injustice. In fact, I think the Sean-White romance subplot feels forced. Yes, the duo do spend a lot of time sharing close quarters--and, yes, those scenes deliver the usual BL mushy moments. Even so, it feels like their relationship progresses because the writers understand many viewers came to see the actors: they want Off and Gun fall for each other. (Again.) Thus the flirtatious scenes begin to pile up in middle of the series even though the first part of the series has made perfectly clear these mismatched personalities have many layers of conflict. (Yes, I know enemies-to-lovers is a viable trope. But I'm not sure this series fully earned the transition from enemies to lovers, so much as the whole audience just accepted it by habit. I mean, it's Off and Gun, so of course!) Put another way, BL romance trades in sweet moments, but the passion between Sean-White reeks of a more combustible hate-love. The attraction of the bodies is clear. The attraction of personality, less so. One wishes the meeting of the minds had benefited from a deeper investment into character development in the earlier episodes. Aside from Sean's rage at the world and White's struggle to connect with a twin he no longer understands, we do not know enough about either character for their sudden coupling to make sense beyond youthful randyness: namely, forced proximity + young horny men + tension = lust. By contrast, the Dan-Yok relationship feels far more organic amidst the detailed worldbuilding. The furtive romance between would-be revolutionary Yok and Dan, a renegade cop with a secret alter ego that itself flirts with illegality, is a clever match of character types. Their story provides a sweet emotional center to the series that the Sean-White relationship never quite supplies. The Yok-Dan pairing strikes me as a natural outgrowth of the story. It never felt forced. This devaluation of the Sean-White BL arc does not diminish the series because Sean and White themselves are more focused on The Mission than each other (until the last two episodes, anyway). Only if the viewer arrived at the production expecting the usual romance-centric BL plot will the shortcomings of the Sean-White relationship rankle. Perhaps “BL” is not even the best way to classify this complex work, as the characters’ absorption in their self-appointed crusade to right the wrongs embedded into the Thai social structure always overshadows their interest in romance. Not Me may be better understood as a social commentary wrapped in BL packaging. But its masquerade succeeds on both level, social critique and romance alike.

That success owes to detailed worldbuilding by the writers and the director. This worldbuilding includes a rich array of support characters and a willingness to explore multiple sides to many issues. In particular, the series uses its university setting to good effect. Various episodes present legal theory and economic theory to set the stakes, delivered in the guise of the classroom. The power of the arts to effect change is also showcased here, with both dance and street art marshaled to articulate the message of protest. Speaking of protest, the legendary scene where White dances in jubilation under a giant rainbow flag remains one of the most iconic moments in the entire BL genre. Also, that scene provides one of the very few where explicit symbols of queer power work their way into this genre all about same-sex romance. My remaining concerns can be easily dismissed. Aside from a central romance overshadowed by the side couple, one might also fairly criticize the presentation of the fight scenes. Some of the action set pieces implausibly favor our anti-heroes, who by rights ought to be overmatched in direct conflict. They are after all, amateur vigilantes who train for battle in between classes. That they can repeatedly best professionals with years of experience is far-fetched. Nevertheless, providential victories in battle for main characters in action films is so routine this largesse can be overlooked.

One test of a classic is whether it holds up to repeat viewing years after the initial enthusiasm for its arrival has faded. This series aces that test. Indeed, Not Me improved with age. This time, knowing in advance not to expect the typical light, fluffy BL made me more receptive to the social criticism baked into the story. The lads in Black's gang see themselves as heroes crusading on behalf of the overlooked, the downtrodden, the forgotten. But the script also overtly questions that premise. In the face of the gang’s self-image as heroic, other characters question their assumptions. That they have chosen illegal (and violent) tactics to achieve their ends is not simply dismissed. In fact, the series carefully offers counterpoints to nearly every grievance the lads claim to fight against. This nuance forces viewers and characters alike to reckon with the gray areas of morality. Life, the script seems to insist, cannot be boiled down to black and white. And both Black and White seem to grasp this point. Eventually. It is this balanced approach to the issues that helps Not Me to withstand the test of time.
In the end, all its daring departures from the norm work to distinguish Not Me from the pack of repetitive first love plots that comprise most genre stories about students. Tight writing, thoughtful and coherent, combined with powerhouse acting to meet the challenges of this difficult script. Not Me remains excellent today.

One of the best BL I've ever seen

I need Season 2. I want to see White working as a diplomatic and fighting against the current government. I want to see the closure to ToddBlack. The last EP gave me the need to see more of them.I loved DanYok since of the very first sight. The chemistry between Gawin and First it's something that GMMTV could explore more.And, P'Anucha you were absolutely incredible!!! I'll follow your work whenever you'll do next. You are amazing.Ps. I had to search for the books that Sean have been reading in the beginning of the series. I learned more about Thailand history and culture. As a brazilian, I'd never had heard anything about this and this Series made me wanna to learn more and more.This was a such inspiration and I clearly see the connections between our laws, government, estruture, police force... Here in Brazil too. The episode focus on amnesty was my favorite.Not Me is now my favorite serie and it changed my life and my way to see some things. Me crying? Not Me

Where to even begin? This series is such a masterpiece!!!!!
When I first started episode 1, I knew that this is going to be one of those shows that's going to take me on an emotional roll coaster. It captures you from the very first episode and you can't help but fall in love at the beginning. As the story progressed each episode the plot was more and more interesting and not what you would expect from a BL. I’ve watched so many BLs and this series hit different, it did not only show us the romantic side but issues that are still happening around the world and that is powerful for a series to show that and yet still be light-hearted.

I was shipping White and Sean so hard OMG!! my favourite couple they are just so sweet with each other. Yes, they did have a rocky start, but I think it was needed to build the connection they have right now. It's amazing to see how far they have come and the connection they have. OffGun really have a good connection when they are acting because they make you believe and fall in love. It's so amazing how their acting as improved over the years, and you can clearly see this in this BL. they're Overall I'm happy with their acting 10/10 OffGun.

It was so sad when Yok was betrayed truly felt that. To think that you trusted someone, and they turn around and disappoint you was so sad but, in the end, they got their happy ending.

The friendship in this BL is amazing Yok, Gumpa, Gram and even Todd. They have all had they fair share of ups and downs, but you can clearly see that they care for each other.

The OST is amazing that I even downloaded it, that's how good everything in their series come together. I'm crying but I'm happy.

Overall, I've never felt this way about a BL it was truly spectacular and I'm going to miss this show so much it has brought me tears, joy and the feeling of love. This show has the best cast and crew, and everyone did an amazing job 10/10. Deep hoping for a season 2 or a special episode 😃

A true masterpiece. I really don't know what I'm going to do with my life after this is over.

Not Me is one of the best BL's I've ever seen if not the best. It's definitely earned the number one for me. I loved it from beginning to the end. I'm not one for political action thrilers but Not Me's story captured me. I was drawn in by the fight for social justice done by college students. I could relate so much even if I don't have that fight. Their struggle made me think deeply every week and made me learn more about Thailand's society. It taught me more about what's going on in the world which is always important.
The cast was amazing from Gun to Off(who improved so much and was excellent as Sean. And Gun cemented himself as Thailand's best with his brilliant portrayal as Black and White.) to unknowns to me like Gavin and First. They were all so good and made me love them as actors. I had always been and OffGun fan which was the biggest reason I watched but after Not Me I'm obsessed with them. Off and Gun's acting was in another lever and their chemistry??? wowza it's even better than before. I just love them that is all.
I think the character development was the best in the story all characters changed and grew thru the course of the series . I also loved how none of them were perfect they were all human & relatable characters No BL stereotypes here which is a big place. P'Nuchy + the cast and crew created a jewel with this series and I think it's gonna take forever to be topped. At least for me it is.
If you haven't watched this series please do, you won't regret it. 10 overall but if I could give it more I would. Now I know this show is gonna leave a huge hole in my life. Well time to rewatch from the beginning again.
