Neither one or the other.

Thailand media is definitely leaning towards quantity rather than quality so, as expected, many of their dramas are falling into a copy-paste situation. This one is a clear example of that. Is it good, or is it bad? It depends on the person watching.

~ Story:
Here is the thing: it is not a bad story... if you're someone who's new in the genre and hasn't seen a lot of dramas from it. In my case, however, I found it quite repetitious due to the fact that I've already watched so many dramas with the same tropes to the point I am left unimpressed by what's happening in the story. Like I said: copy-paste situation. Nothing new, nothing unique, nothing special. Just your basic go-to story. But don't get me wrong, please, because I did find it to be one of those series you can sit back and relax with a cup of tea (or glass of wine, in my case) since it's a very simple plot that doesn't require you to pay attention to small details or anything of the sort. It was a nice little drama to spend a lazy weekend at home watching.

~ Cast:
Surprisingly, I don't have a lot of complaints about these actors. Although it was predictable acting, most of them did a decent job. Sometimes I wonder, though: Do they train all these actors in the same school? Because it's crazy how ALL of them (not just in this drama) act in the exact same way. That's what I mean with predictable. It's not bad, but it feels like they are following a book instead of coming up with their own individual acting. Very few actors step out of that box and, unfortunately, none of the actors here did that. Let's talk about some of them.

~ Pi: Decent. To be honest with you, from what I have seen, a lot of Thai actors are not really that good at acting comedy, so Phu was a little rough around the edges during those scenes. However, everything else was quite good. I am Latin American and the "Ugly Betty" story is very dear to my heart, so I now have a fondness towards this actor for acting a role inspired by this iconic and beloved Colombian character. Good chemistry with his partner, too.

~ Mork: A little better. Was I found successful about Pond is that his character was so serious that his comedy scenes were delivered better since it's something unexpected to come from a character that keeps his composure.

~ Duean: I am going to be biased here: I do not like this actor. Not because he is bad at acting, no, he's okay if okay to you means very predictable. But my problem lies in his voice. I absolutely HATE IT. He's one of those people I wish could shut up because his constant yelling is drilling into my ears giving me a headache. I had to endure it for the sake of his partner, but I wanted to skip every single scene he was speaking in.

~ Meen: Probably the most cliched character and ultimately one of my favorites. To be honest, he and Duean were both annoying, but Meen was on the cuter side making him more likeable than his partner.

~ Editing and Pacing:
Excellent. Everything was coherent and well put together. There's nothing really tricky about the plot and that helped the editing feel a lot more smoother and easy to follow.

On a side note: this is the first drama I've seen that doesn't have a beach or planting trees episode! Thank goodness cuz that was getting so tired.

Sis, this show has everything: Makeovers, hidden agendas, cyber bullying, moaning, a bitch you wanna slap, and balloons. I recommend it, specially if you're new in the genre and are looking for something simple and easy to follow.

One man discovering that his biggest competition was actually himself.

How do you review Fish Upon the Sky when your main memories are awkward makeovers, relentless teasing, and Pi looking like stress had personally selected him as its brand ambassador?

This series really looked at the university romance genre and said, "What if we added insecurity, comedy, sibling interference, and enough secondhand embarrassment to physically leave your body?"

Pi had a crush.

A very serious crush.

The kind of crush that convinces you a complete personality overhaul is a reasonable life decision.

Unfortunately for him, Mork existed.

Confident.

Charming.

Annoyingly attractive.

And apparently operating on a full-time schedule of making Pi's life significantly more complicated.

Naturally, chaos followed.

Phuwin brought so much vulnerability, awkwardness, and relatable insecurity to Pi that it was impossible not to root for him.

Because beneath all the panic and overthinking was someone simply trying to believe that he was enough.

And honestly?

Haven't we all been there?

And Pond as Mork?

The king of teasing.

The emperor of patience.

The CEO of looking at someone like they've already won a competition they didn't even know they were in.

Watching Mork slowly prove to Pi that he was never interested in the version of Pi trying to impress the world and had always liked the version hiding underneath it all gave us one of the sweetest messages in Thai BL.

Then there was Duean.

The human embodiment of chaos.

The younger brother who somehow managed to create problems and solve them at the exact same time.

His relationship with Meen delivered some of the funniest moments in the entire series and honestly deserved its own support group.

The friend groups, the university setting, and the endless misunderstandings gave the series an energy that felt lively, messy, and incredibly fun.

And can we talk about the people behind the camera?

Director New Siwaj Sawatmaneekul understood exactly what this story needed: fun.

The series never took itself too seriously.

The comedy landed, the emotional moments hit when they needed to, and the story never forgot that sometimes romance is supposed to make you laugh as much as it makes you cry.

The production team embraced bright colors, energetic pacing, and exaggerated comedy while still allowing the characters space to grow.

The cinematography reflected the youthful, chaotic energy of university life perfectly.

And the soundtrack?

Pure serotonin.

Every song somehow made an already ridiculous situation feel even more adorable.

Fish Upon the Sky wasn't trying to reinvent the genre.

It wasn't trying to emotionally devastate you.

It wasn't trying to overthrow governments or run mafia empires.

This was chaos.

Premium-grade chaos.

This was insecure dental student × man who apparently decided flirting should qualify as an Olympic event.

10/10.

Would absolutely survive dental school, become emotionally attached to the friend group, and watch Mork flirt aggressively while Pi malfunctioned all over again.

Super cute and hilarious, but prepare for some second-hand heartbreak! ?

Overall:Fish Upon the Sky is a mega cute, chaotic, and lighthearted romantic comedy that will make you laugh out loud. The overall vibe is incredibly fun and heartwarming. However, it was also a bit of an emotional rollercoaster because of the main relationship dynamic. It gets a high rating from me because of its unique humor, but some parts definitely made me feel frustrated for the main leads.Story:The plot is highly entertaining, blending university life, internet rumors, and a sweet crush story. The comedy is loud, quirky, and very enjoyable. My only critique is that the push-and-pull went on a bit too long. It was genuinely frustrating and heartbreaking to watch the main lead constantly reject the other, especially when you could see how much it hurt him.Acting / Cast:Phuwin and Pond have a fantastic dynamic on screen. Pond portrayed the devoted, patient suitor perfectly, while Phuwin did a great job showing his character's insecurities. Their chemistry is super charming. Also, Neo and Louis completely stole the show with their hilarious sub-plot—they were pure comedic gold!Music / OST:The soundtrack is bright, upbeat, and fits the youthful, chaotic energy of the drama perfectly. It always lifts your mood during the funny scenes.Rewatch Value:Very high for the comedy and the cute, fluffy moments. It’s a perfect comfort show to rewatch when you need a good laugh, even if you have to skip a few frustrating scenes.

Enjoyed every moment ❣️

Every thing in this drama was exaggerated and forced, but I believe the creators' goal was to raise many important issues in Asian communities in an entertaining way.

I can't remember when I laughed so much and enjoyed every moment of a drama like this. Anything that evokes positive emotions a. makes people laugh from the heart deserves applause. 👏👏👏👏👏

Towards the end, I realized that I still need to go to the dentist this year unfortunately won't be so romantic like the last scene in the drama.😂

fish upon the sky(it's like you fall for someone but that person is out of league for you)

the things I like in these drama are-
how they portrayed Pi's feeling change from Mueang Nan to Mork and the insecure feeling and obviously how Mork fell in love with Pi and how he was taking care of pi while he was sad (Phuwin Tangsakyue and Pond Naravit Lertradid did a great job playing Pi and Mork's character, there acting was on point)and last but not least their chemistry their romance was a piece of GEM
I freaking loved this show and I hope there will be more show's like this in the future

Laughed the whole show!!

This is my second time watching this series, and it did not get boring! It was one of the best BLS I watched, considering that the first time, i was very new to the Thai TV environment. This was the second ever Thai bl I've watched(The first being Bad Buddy). The comedic scenes had me laughing. Every character was well portrayed.
Pi is very insecure about his looks and changes himself so he can impress Muang Nan. P'Phuwin portrayed Pi's insecurity very well and showed how it feels to be looked down on and only appreciated when favors are to be done. Mhok on the other hand is very social, popular, and center of the attention. But he was REALLY patient. The most patient and calm soul I've seen in a series😌
The side ship was the biggest reason I was here for seconds. Duean x Meen. I love P'Neo Trai, so I was bound to love his ship. Duean was my ultimate favorite character. He was such a good brother! And a very good boyfriend to Meen as well. Duean is an idiot(in love, hehe...I'll stop) and is very loud, annoying, and has a hardcore outer personality. But deep within, he's sensitive and caring for the people he loves. Meen is a very nerdy boy who knows exactly what he wants. An A+ scholar, and an allrounder in studies. He's very innocent and naive but not to the point it annoys the shit out of you.

If you're into Rom-Coms, let me tell you, this show is right up your ally.

Manages to still be a fun ride despite multiple flaws

NO-SPOILER REVIEW

This series starts off with a promising, if cliché, premise, but it unfortunately struggles through the middle because of some issues around character motivations and storytelling. It manages to pull things together toward the end and the result is a fun and lighthearted series despite many frustrating parts along the way.

Pros
- Two relatively fresh leads that are cute and have good chemistry
- Unexpected charming side couple that keeps things interesting
- Surprisingly funny at times
- Tackles themes around insecurity and privacy in a way that isn't often done in similar dramas

Cons
- Character motivations weren't really developed well which made some characters and their feelings hard to believe
- The characters don't always act reasonably which can be extremely frustrating as a viewer
- The middle part of the series suffers from issues around storytelling overall but if you can pull through this, things do get better

Overall
- This can be an enjoyable series if you don't take it too seriously and just enjoy it as a comedy. There's a good enough balance of fun moments to counter the moments of frustration.

MOKPI I love you

Pi feels like a reflection of who I am, and in many ways, I feel like I am Pi. The connection I have with his character is almost unsettling because of how deeply I relate to him. His stubbornness, his awkwardness, his weird little habits, and the way he navigates the world all feel incredibly familiar. There’s something comforting about seeing a character who isn’t perfect, who doesn’t always know how to express himself, yet still deserves and receives love. Pi reminds me that being different, strange, or difficult doesn’t make someone unlovable — it simply makes them human.

Mok’s character, on the other hand, represents everything I want in my life and in love. The way he understands Pi, supports him, and stays patient even when things are messy makes me feel deeply emotional. Mok’s love feels safe, steady, and unconditional. Watching him care for Pi makes me feel seen in ways I didn’t expect, as if someone is finally saying, “You are enough exactly as you are.” That kind of love feels rare and precious, and it resonates with a part of me that longs for the same warmth and reassurance.

Beyond the emotional depth, I absolutely love the kind of comedy and humor the series delivers. It’s silly, unhinged, and completely unserious in the best way possible. The crackhead energy, the chaotic timing, and the ridiculous moments hit exactly the spot for me. It’s the kind of humor that feels free, weird, and unapologetic — and I crave that. I don’t just enjoy it; I fully vibe with it. That blend of heartfelt emotions and unfiltered, chaotic comedy is what makes the series feel so special to me.

This show means more than entertainment. It’s comfort, chaos, love, and laughter all wrapped together. I rewatch it often because it makes me feel understood, loved, and emotionally alive.

Slow and boring

I watched this for Pond and Mix. While they are amazing (actually, really cute) here, .but the show is just so slow and boring

While there are cute moments here and there, it's quite hard to keep on watching. There are no story development, nothing much at all. I keep on skipping some parts until I decided no point watching a show if I skip like most of it.

Hence I'm dropping this series.

I usually am not very picky with storyline and all, as long as it's fun and entertaining, I'll watch. But, apparently this one fall short on this.

SO FLUFFY!!!!! <3

It's definitely tough to follow a phenomenal series, but Fish Upon the Sky is giving a much-needed light, hilarious story. It's not trying to be too deep / dramatic, but it's being realistic with late adolescent beauty standards + transformation. I know Phuwin is hella attractive no matter what they do to his face, but we can never discount the fact that Pi's insecurities are valid, real and actually happening. Many people say it's predictable, I'd say DUH. But it's fun and the more interesting thing about this predictability is actually how they're gonna unfold the story. Everyone knows what's gonna happen -- and it's still fun -- but the one we should be looking forward to is rather how the director is going to bring it to life. I also appreciate the 4th wall breaking of Deuan's character + the narrator. Adds a whole new dynamic to the comedy of the series.

For fun / fluffy series like this, I usually try not to be too deep / critical about it because they're definitely for laughs, fun and definitely the swooooons. So far, I'm getting the most of these. LOVE IT!

♥️ from ??

This is just a very lively and bubbly series... It is fun to watch and it will really make your mind very imaginable... The cast are great and I personally love their chemistry... The storyline is smooth and very light... It will make your heart flutter along with the amazing set of OSTs... I think this will be one of the successful and unforgettable series ever made in the BL history... Lets keep supporting them and may their couple become true hahaha...

This is just my personal opinion and point of view... You bashers can hate it all you want because it is what you feel... I just hope that you will not feel lost or dejected on the latter part... You keep saying that you hate it and it is not funny or it is not good but you still keep on watching... What a great hobby you have there... That's all...

Perfect start

I admit, trailer didn't ring a bell for me. Too caothic. No more. I love every facet of this 1st episode. The narrator voice, the actor, the choice of them. Leader male actors are perfect. Good choice of music.
The start is like a bomb dropped to audience, after that there is a full immersion in the life of the carachters.
So perfect timing. Finally something a little different. Not the usual... "sorry I like girls" situation.

I'll sure write more after 2nd episode, but I think this is a prokising start for a funny and lovable drama. I always wish to read the novels, but english translation arevthe worst possible.
