If what you love about The Awake is its serious and realistic espionage atmosphere, definitely try this one.

Minguo period, two buddies where it's not clear who is with what team up to the very end. Compelling and anxiety driven in a good way--you want to watch the next episode whereas I was not enamored of Awaken and dropped it as too confusing and overacted. There are few dramas set in this period that I've watched through to the end as the espionage didn't hold my attention. This was the rare find.
