If I could recommend only one Chinese drama it would be this one
If you love slow burn, smart female lead and morally grey male lead this drama is made for you. This is not only a love story, this is a female centric kind of story. And what a female lead we have here ! Chen Shaoshang is one of the smartest and most relatable character even written in a Chinese drama. We follow her
path to adulthood and through her we also witness the growth of the characters she met through her journey. Not everything is black and white If you love slow burn, smart female lead and morally grey male lead this drama is made for you.
This is not only a love story, this is a female centric kind of story. And what a female lead we have here : Chen Shaoshang is one of the smartest and most relatable character ever written . She has a military lineage and being unwilling abandoned by her parents who have to fight for the nation, she is bullied by her aunt and her grandmother who promised her parents to take of her in their absence, as she grows up in a hostile environment, she is forced to count only on herself to survive hence why she is a very independent lady.
When her parents come back, it doesn’t go as smoothly for her as we could imagine. We follow her path into adulthood and through her we witness her growth but also the development of the characters she met during her journey. We also witness the solace she gains from the relationships she builds along her way in the search of the love she lacked during childhood. Not everything is black and white and Niaoniao even end up feeling empathy without completely forgiving some of the characters who treated her badly.
Her and Ling Buyi’s love story isn’t an easy one, he falls for her at the first hand side but her love for him is slowly built stone after stone, trials after trials and eventually this love becomes passionate and unshakable. Speaking of Ling Buyi, no one could have make us love this perfectly flawed general more than Wu Lei. What an amazing actor he is ! Probably one of the best of his gen. Just like Shaoshang, Ling Buyi’s childhood was full of traumatizing event we can’t help but slowly fall under the spell of this strong but mysterious general while undiscovering his secrets.
Don’t walk run to watch this you won’t regret it.

First half of the drama is great
I enjoyed this half of the story. Finally a FL that I can support. She's not dumb, and has her own opinions. She has a bit of MC halo but it doesn't make her annoying. I like how she gets into trouble here.
This half focuses on her family, and I'm not a huge fan of how her mom tries to discipline Niao Niao.
Anyways, the first half of this drama is great, which is what this rating is based on. HOWEVER, I'm not a huge fan f the second part of the drama.
The acting is mostly great, except I'm not a huge fan of Wu Lei. Granted, this role is rather challenging, so I commend him for expanding his horizons. Most time it's fine, except when he is trying to be angry and intimating, he looks like he's "acting." Zhao Lu Si on the other hand was excellent. She is a great actress and all her emotions seem natural.

When a familiar stranger becomes family, is blood really thicker than water?
The first half of this drama is thrilling, romantic, funny, aggravating, devastating - a whirlwind of emotions. If memory recalls, around episode 7 or 8 there is a stunning sequence of shots at the lantern festival; if previous episodes hadn't hooked you with the female lead's comedy then this moment of pure wonder and moving background music will. Admittedly, there are moments of real frustration for viewers even in the first half that seep their way through to the second half (and it's confusing and rushed finish), but since this is a part 1 review I will not condemn what is yet to come. Although it's been promoted largely as a romance, at heart this is a tale of family and how far people will go to defend it. Even the Emperor punishes his children - but he protects and loves them as well (as much as any other father would); we see parent-child relationships on imperial and common levels, and it's exactly because we see the familiar family dynamics of Cheng Shaosheng's house that we can have empathy and interest in the royal court. You will cry, cure and smile watching this drama - the one thing you won't do is regret it! So get to watching :)))Was this review helpful to you?
My Favorite Cdrama of All Time
This show has everything for me!The stellar cast, intuitive director with an outstanding aesthetic sense in each detail, thought-driven writers and all the professionals crews deserve loud applause!
…..an expert sample of how to write a great screenplay and create a stunning high-adrenaline narrative.
The combination of comedy, tension, angst, struggle, sadness, anger, joy, and romance, mixed with the right composition and dose to be feasted.
Don't judge a book by its cover, because power and truth come in many forms, just like love.
The character portrait of Zhao Lusi as Cheng Shaoshang will leave you wanting more kinds of nuances!!! To be honest, she was very tough in living life. As a young girl, her courage and ingenuity were admirable to succeed in getting past those plots. Sharp instincts and reasoning power to observe everyone and events produce accurate deductions for a kid at her age.
I also admire Leo Wu Lei as General Ling. His wooden expression feels hypnotizing, emphasizing his aura of mystery and his dominance.
Ling Bu Yi's relationship with Cheng Shaoshang from the beginning to the end of the show is so contradictory, unique, interesting, and so sweet when they are together!!
Love Like The Galaxy is amazing!!!
Highly Recommended!!!
Watch Now.

The best cdrama of 2022
This is the best chinese drama of 2022 for me. I have watch other chinese drama, but for me this is the best. First few episodes is a bit slow but its for us to know the story of the characters. This is the only drama that I have waited every episodes to release and the only drama that I didnt press fast forward.. The main leads few encounters asking me for more of them. Doesnt have kissing scenes but I still love them. The director is very good, because he show us the other side of the character like Wu Lei. I like his character here. He is soooo good. So ruthless & brutal and yet soft & loving to Shaoshang. Shaoshang is a bit naive maybe because in the drama she is just 15 years old. I have watch all dramas of Zhao Lusi, but so far this drama Love Like The Galaxy is the best of her drama for me.. Looking forward to the part 2..Was this review helpful to you?
Expected better acting from Wu Lei, Still Loving the show though!
So the first 4 episodes are kind of hard to get through, but by ep 6 it starts to pick up.I enjoyed those establishing episodes a lot tho, not for the content, but that it really set the stage for understanding and sympathizing with Shao Shang.
The main downside is 1. I honestly expected Wu Lei (Leo Wu's) acting to be better, and so far, it reads as stiff. I'm not sure when filming took place, but it shouldn't make that big of a difference. From the previews I've seen of later episodes where General Ling has to be more emotional, his acting does seem to get better, but I'm painfully aware of the fact that he's acting too often now. His handsome face just can't make up for it past a certain point :(
I think because he was a child actor, he's trying to take on many roles where he plays a more mature and manly character, but those roles aren't as convincing just yet. I hope with time he'll improve. Imo, his acting was a little better in The Long Ballad (or maybe the long hair made me dumb and i just ignored any of the flaws, haha).
I saw a reviewer say it might've been better to cast General Ling's character to an actor 35-45 years old, and I think I have to disagree. General Ling is a young character—the emperor dotes on him like his own son, and has also commented on the fact that he's still too young and inexperienced with war. I think that puts him at around 20-30 years old, max, but I'm leaning towards 21-25 (Lu Yuan is 21/22 I think(?) and Ah Yao is around 19, correct me if I'm wrong).
Zhao Lu Si is doing a wonderful job, and she adds dimension to SS's character. She's killing it rn, though I'm kinda worried she'll be stiff for more romantic scenes, but it makes sense because Shao Shang is ony 15 and is inexperienced. (Having to constantly make a mental note that girls married very young back then, haha T_T)
The older members of the cast also deliver pretty well, esp that grandma, the mother, and the father. Wow the grandmother is disgusting, but she sure is funny in her ignorance. Actress is selling it. So is the mother. I've never wanted to yell at a fictional mother this much before, who's more of a bridge burner than she is a mother. my god.
I like the wealth of characters, the world really feels immersive. the romance is a little slow right now, and I don't really like how it keeps hitting us over the head with General Ling as the obvious choice, but the ML's character in and of itself has few faults and is very respectable. I actually like his character, if just for the fact that he keeps being less assertive, but that's because he's busy, and falling for CSS was not in his plans.
Did i say the main downside was Wu Lei's acting? The 2nd downside, is that this is taking too long to update! With 6 eps every week, 2 every Tues, Wed, Thur, you'd think it'd be enough to tide us over. I'm starting to wish this had been picked up by Netflix, but even then, they'd never drop all 27 at once TT_TT. Here's to waiting another 4 days TT^TT
anyways, im eagerly waiting to see the newest eps lol. hopefully i'll update the review when i finish pt. 1.

Wu Lei & Zhao Lusi's best drama. OST, lighting, cinematography, etc.
I haven't been this invested in a 40+ episode cdrama since I watched The Untamed.Every aspect of this drama is gorgeously done.
Cinematography, lighting, fight scene choreography, acting, instrumental OST, pacing, story - it's all so rich and wonderfully done. I found myself practically frothing at the mouth, waiting for each episode and deep diving into the MDL discussion section with everyone else as we invested our time and emotions into the nuance of each episode.
The cast is perfect. Everyone (especially the Cheng family, Emperor Wen, and Ling Buyi) is perfectly cast. I've been a huge Wu Lei stan for a long time, but this drama is my favorite of his (Crossfire is a close 2nd). Same for Zhao Lusi. The chemistry within the Cheng family between CSS and her brothers and Yang Yang is wonderful to watch; the chemistry between Qiu Fei, Qiu Qi, and Ling Buyi is always a fantastic ice breaker for more somber scenes, Qi Qi and Cheng Song are cute, and Ling Buyi and CSS have a natural and fiery chemistry that I adore. It's difficult for me to describe how perfect this drama is for me eloquently. I wish MDL didn't force the series to be split into two parts so the discussion board and ratings can stay combined because I adore the ravings of all of our LLTG fanatics in one spot, haha.
**Don't get put off by the slower pacing from Ep 1-7. While it might seem painstaking if you're impatient, world-building is meticulously done for a good reason. By the end of Part 1, you're so invested in the story precisely because it took its time explaining the complexity of each character's personality to a point where unspoken glances speak volumes to you because you understand the nuance of each character and backstory so well. It makes the drama and your investment in it that much more meaningful. I also perused the lower ratings listed and couldn't disagree more with their lazy observations. If you went into this drama with the expectation that it's going to be fast-paced - when right off the bat, you could see it's slated for 56 episodes- you're mistaken. This isn't a 10-episode limited drama. This is a series that has to honor a widely popular book that has a *lot* of content to cover, and for anyone to give a crap, the production needs to put in a lot of effort for us to *understand* and *know* the world our characters live in. You're sorely mistaken if you expect to just jump into the deep end for a long, fiery, ridiculous battle. This is a slow burn (and burn, it surely does!).

This masterpiece is not even less than 10/10, it is TRULY PRICELESS!I haven't even been able to move on from this drama. 😭😭💔
Being fairly, this is the best drama with a solid quality story substance, driven by a strong moral component that motivates to human condition and reveals what it means to be human. The magnificent love story are so sweet, romantic, reasonable and realistic. The dramatic and thematic reflections of the journey of the protagonist interconnected scene, really rich of positive vibes. The content of humor from the beginning to the end of the drama is inserted with the right timing and harmony, creating a fresh dynamic and hilariousness brilliant. Many many beautiful, fascinating, fantastic, and epic scenes which is really unforgettable. Also meaningful dialogues that inspire.
I guess this SPLENDID STAR doesn't just light up the black dark sky, but at the same time enlightment our heart and mindset. 🌟

And Thus, a Classic Drama is created.
And Thus, a Classic Drama is created. With all the hype and positive reviews and with an A list cast for this drama, I had very high expectations. And all of my expectations were met. For a 56 episode drama, I could have watched 20 – 30 more episodes, it was just that good. I didn’t even fast forward once and that says a lot for a 56 episode C drama!
The BEST part of the drama for me, besides the amazing casting, is the character building. The script is the heart of the show and if it wasn’t for the beautiful dialogue and relationship building screen play, I’m not sure how it would have hold my interest so much.
The costumes, hair and makeup were amazing. I love the styles of the dresses, it was just beautiful and so different. I loved the long hair and elegant hair pieces. Even the ML costumes were great and they kept his look very plain to match his personality.
The star of the show are the main leads. As much as everyone loves ML, Leo Wu (I loved him in The Long Ballad too!), my favorite by far is Zhao Lu Si. I loved her in Who Rules the World and almost any drama she is in. I love her range of emotions, how she can play a rom-com or a melodrama. She can be sweet and naïve to fierce and mature. I also love that the leads are close to age. Since both are very young, 22 and 23, they usually star in roles with older actors, so it’s nice to see them equally matched in physical appearance to age and acting ability.
The drama has many story arcs and even though you watch it for the romance between the leads, you start to get sucked into all the side plots and side stories. It’s just that good. I really enjoyed watching the FL and the mom conflict. It kept my interest and as much as you want to side with one person, you see both sides. Again, another thing that is great about the drama is you see both sides and it’s hard to see who is truly right.
The pacing is pretty much on point with the drama.
Overall, there is no comparison to this drama. It has a strong FL that is independent, smart (street smart), beautiful and goes through a lot of hardships and struggles. Sometimes she saves herself and sometimes the ML saves her, but regardless, it’s always a learning lesson for her. You have the ML with a bitter past and yes Leo is very good in playing the stoic, cruel lead, I did enjoy is humorous moments (and he does have them!).
The chemistry between the leads is very good and probably the driving force of the drama. I wouldn’t say this drama has too much politics, just the right amount to keep you hooked and interested. Don’t go into this drama expecting typical misunderstanding troupes, it’s all about relationship building, resolving conflict and the characters are always weighing the pros and cons to any decisions.
Love like the Galaxy is different, beautiful and it’s a drama you could watch again and again. I know I wil!

Well Worth it
Wow this first half of the this drama is so amazing and keeps you really interested and binging watching ...I love the chemistry between the leads and the interaction they have between them, as always Zhao did not disappoint with her comedic side and light heartiness the first 10 episodes of the drama started off with a hint of comedic and light-hearted note, which is really pleasing. I absolutely adore the comedic elements in the drama with the storytelling approach. The drama's comedic elements are not forced nor cheap, it is genuinely light-hearted and funny, and I adore how they use wordplay. I especially love how Shaoshang is always on her wits to fight back against others who bully her or people around her. It also portrays the dynamic of Shaoshang family and her relationship with her family.
The acting of the crew are well paced and the dialogue is well written, not too many fillers, everything in detail is well thought through and explained but not over explained.
The ML esp Leo Wu is amazing I love his seriousness and aloofness, but at the same a hint of smile that he has for Shaoshang, his role of General Ling was exceptional, and I love the costumes he wears throughout (that uniform) makes him a dream military man !!!
The music is not so bad, although short and wont be making my playlist, it does have the right tone and setting for this drama ...
As always it wouldn't a dystany without a few bitchy women aka cats the fifth princess really started to get on my nervous with the way she carried on, and the other women were no exceptions of course you had qiqi who i though was amazing and stood up for shaoashang whenever there were together, (die hard friends) !!!
Overall : Its a have to watch and excellent one at it ... onto part 2

Most underwhelming series, after The Story of Minglan
This one and The Story of Minglan, of 2018, have the same original author. However, what a huge difference screenwriters and directors make ... The Story of Minglan was a rich tapestry of characters and story lines that put that production in a class of its own. Superb! 'while this Love like the Galaxy, of 2022, was one is a pain to watch. Other than superb acting, everything was underwhelming. Soooo, so lacking. Sooo, so schematic that it was painful to watch the poor actors delivering so well on skinny characters which had nothing to deliver other than cheesy monologues; horibile sound track, with tunes which sounded like free downloads from the Internet, and the list can go on. I give a ten for perfect make up. And a 20, again, to the wonderful Chinese actos. But other than that: a pain to watch and see what botched job poor screenwriters and directors can do from work originally created by a very good writer. Was this review helpful to you?
