Foundation for more BL Kdramas in the future
In the past, we were drawn to Korean dramas with usual troupes and storylines. From He’s Beautiful, Flower Boy Next Door, Coffee Prince, Boys over Flowers, and Princess Hours, it contained the schematic plot formulas - enemies to lovers, princely male leads and cliche romantic storylines that garnered huge attention from the viewers. These were the materials used as baseline to recognize the techniques of the industry. The rise of Korean dramas led to more creative outputs that will surely accumulate more viewers like Descendants of the Sun, Law School, Sweet Home, It’s okay not to be okay, and Hotel Luna that were more substantial in terms of plots and characterization. I think Light on Me is a drama that could establish the same baseline for BL Korean dramas to be prominent. It has the same schematic formulas we usually see in Korean dramas - a male lead, a second male lead and a tactless main character who we all want to be happy.
In my opinion, it is a drama that anyone could enjoy even if they don’t usually watch BL dramas as long as they are a fan of typical Korean writing. The plot is really light and mellow that I personally would love to just watch the released episodes again to make my heart melt. As of the moment, I would love to reach the end to see who will our dear Tae kyung end up with, which obviously is really good because I saw a lot of viewers riding on different ships, which means they are hooked.
I read different theories but if I would solely based my opinion by only watching the drama, I don’t know who the main character will end up with because the drama gives you the thrill of making both the male leads the possible end game. I want to share that I am on Team Daon. I was first Team Shinwoo but the latest episodes made me jump on the other ship. If you are looking for a drama that would make you confuse on who to cheer on, then this drama is for you.
Overall, I hope to see more BL Korean dramas dwell on different plot lines but for now, I am satisfied with the cliche romantic storylines because I know it will only get better at this point.

First Sight Review
The title itself sounds amusing and interesting, that's no doubt. if you are interested in a storyline where the plot involving the leads go from hate to love relationship them this would be a must. Korea doesn't give us much BL'S with long duration but this is worth it as every episode maximizes to twenty minutes and not to forget that it has 16 episodes. first episode was mazing as i thought. it also gives insight to the sex education that does not show up in Korean dramas. the cast's acting is fantastic. The swoon worthy moments this will build up to will be amazing to watch as the episodes progresses. the bickering between the leads is a must laugh moments. Was this review helpful to you?
One of the Best BL ever!!!
Oh my!!! After watching Episode 16, I just can’t contain my happiness!!! The ending was so good! The series itself was a masterpiece! Who would have thought that the story is not ordinary! I was so affected by the series! The story was amazing! The script, music, cast were perfect!!! I really love it!!!
The cast were really good! Shin Woo’s eyes really conveyed emotions! Every characters has their own development and they have grown to a better person.
The cliffhangers on every episode made me thinking every week! At the end of episode 15, I still don’t know who will Tae end up with! The writers and director are amazing! Great job guys!!!

It's lit.?
I honestly think this is so cute. From the bg music to the acting skills to looks to story. It really is good. The 1st episode will get you hooked up with the show. And, once you're in, there's no way out.😂❤Honestly, I really like how LGBTQ+ community is getting in the spotlight. I have a huge respect for them. For me they are the most courageous people of all. Dramas like this play an important role for LGBTQ+ community to want to open up.
And, if no one told you, let me tell you this, you look good. And, hang in there whatever you're going through.!!❤

I've never been in love with a show more than this one
The first time I watched this show I knew id end up loving it.Its not your average "spicy" BL that most people want, its extremely wholesome and fluffy. I love the enemies to lover with a touch of a love Triangle,
This series, is just perfectly done in my opinion, I love the bright, almost pastel color palette, the character development, the drama in the plot and the ending resolution,
I do love Spicy BL's but I think we need more of these kinds, this series is definitely rewatchable because of the fact that it just makes me happy anytime its on the screen

One of the bl that has left a deep impression on me
One of the best korean bl ive ever watched! A highschool-based drama with a perfect combination of romance and slice of life! Every characters has portrayed their roles very well and their chemistry is so cute! An expensive looking and highly produced korean bl with characters you can relate on! There is no cringe moments and every episode is Chef's Kiss! The soundtracks and OST'S that was used for each scenes are so beautiful! The plot is very beautiful and im sure you will relate to it! 16 episodes weren't enough but who knows? maybe we can get a Season 2 in the future! Definitely worth to watch! ❣️Was this review helpful to you?
Light On Me felt like pure magic to me.
Soft, warm, and flattering — the way first love always is. Watching it felt like being wrapped in gentle light, where everything is awkward, sincere, and achingly honest. Woo Tae Kyung especially stayed with me. To me, he feels somehow autistic — this is only my personal interpretation — but that’s part of why I love him so much. The way he experiences the world, his honesty, his stiffness mixed with deep care… it feels real. He doesn’t pretend, and that makes every emotion he shows feel earned. And No Sin U? I adored him. He was intense, passionate, jealous, impulsive, and completely ruled by his feelings. His love burned fast and sometimes messy, but always sincere. That emotional chaos made him feel human. He wasn’t gentle sunlight — he was fire. And watching him struggle, love, and grow made his story hit even harder. Daon wasn’t my favorite, but I understand him. I really do. He lives in a world where he feels worthy only when everyone likes him, when he’s useful, when he’s perfect. That kind of pressure hurts in a quiet way, and even when his choices frustrated me, I could see where they came from. For me he wasn’t weak — he was carrying too much alone. He’s a character shaped by expectations, not malice. And then there’s Namgung, the heart of Light On Me. The best matchmaker, the true love maker. Charming, perceptive, and effortlessly funny, he understood people better than they understood themselves. He didn’t force love — he guided it, quietly and carefully, with warmth and humor. Every group needs a Namgung. Overall, Light On Me feels like a love letter to first feelings — the confusion, the longing, the fear of being seen, and the hope that someone will choose you anyway. It’s gentle, emotional, and unforgettable. A series that doesn’t shout, but stays with your heart long after the screen goes dark. 💫💙

Boring
This might be a hot take because I know this show has good ratings but honestly it was pretty damn boring. The first 6 episodes were good but then the show just got increasingly more bland and predictable. I will say Taekyung was an interesting character and I loved his ability to be honest and his growth as a character was endearing. My main issue was I didn't think Daon or Shinwoo were very intriguing characters. Shinwoo had more intrigue potential then Daon, however, he barely talks for the first half of the show unless it's to tell Taekyung to go away. Then, Daon is just a people pleaser and it honestly just gets annoying. Also, Sohee was such a fucking annoying character.
I did a lot of time skipping over the last 7 episodes because I just got bored with the plot. It was cute to see Shinwoo and Tae end up together in the end. At the same time, I just didn't really understand the whole thing between Daon and Tae and how that ended. I guess I just despise love triangles where there isn't a clear pick. Especially since Daon and Tae both admitted they liked each other and the first half of the show was just them flirting and being cute. I get why people enjoy this show and I see it's charm though.

Finally Wrote a Review for My Top 1 K-BL Series
Tags: Boys’ Love, Coming of Age, High School, First Love, Found Family, Healthy Relationships, Slow BurnLight On Me is a gentle yet emotionally resonant gem in the Boys’ Love genre—a series that proves that soft, quiet storytelling can be just as gripping and satisfying as any grand drama. Adapted from the popular mobile game “Saebit Boys’ High School Council,” this drama takes its time building a world where relationships bloom through awkward encounters, heartfelt conversations, and quiet moments of longing.
What makes Light On Me shine isn’t just the romance—it’s the sincerity in how every character is written and portrayed.
Characters & Acting:
Lee Sae On’s portrayal of Woo Tae Kyung is incredibly endearing. Watching his journey from a shy, emotionally guarded teen into someone who expresses and receives love so freely is deeply rewarding. Kang Yoo Seok as Noh Shin Woo absolutely nails the quiet pining and tender awkwardness. His small expressions—hesitation, soft smiles, the infamous red ears—made my heart flutter countless times. Ko Woo Jin’s Namgoong Shi Woon brings levity and wisdom, while Choe Chan Yi’s Shin Da On presents a nuanced take on perfection and emotional restraint. Yang Seo Hyun as Lee So Hee epitomizes eloquent character development. And of course, Lee Ki Hyun as Mr. Seo Haet Bit—possibly the best accidental wingman in K-BL history.
Romance:
The slow burn between Shin Woo and Tae Kyung is so well-paced that when they finally come together, it feels earned. From misunderstandings to silent glances, every milestone in their relationship is layered with meaning. That final episode? Emotional payoff at its finest. Their banters, soft confessions, hand-holding, and kisses—all executed with warmth, care, and realism.
Themes:
Beyond the romance, Light On Me excels in its depiction of identity, friendship, and acceptance. It tackles self-discovery, emotional maturity, and queerness with grace, never reducing characters to stereotypes. The friendship among the student council members evolves beautifully, reminding viewers of how healing and joy can be found in chosen family.
Cinematography & Aesthetics:
Visually, the drama is pastel-toned and serene, with lighting that often mirrors the characters’ emotional states. There’s a poetic softness in the way scenes are shot, especially moments of stillness, like the fireworks scene or quiet walks in the park.
Final Thoughts:
Light On Me isn’t just a romance. It’s a celebration of sincerity, of quiet bravery, of first love that doesn’t demand to be loud to be felt. It was never about “if” Tae Kyung and Shin Woo would end up together—but how. And their “how” was full of gentle longing, mutual growth, and a beautiful unfolding of hearts. A must-watch for anyone craving BL done right—with intention, care, and glowing heart.
