Does Golden Spoon become the first Korean Drama to have two Male First Leads outside of BL dramas?
In Korean Dramas specifically and writing in general, the First Male Lead is the male protagonist around whom the storyline pivots. Therefore, the Male First Lead never becomes the Male Second Lead. In addition, if you pluck out this character from the storyline you have no story. Outside of BL Korean Dramas, you get one Male First Lead usually.(No Spoilers)
The storyline for Golden Spoon is exceptional and unusual.
Golden Spoon is the story of two teen young men, one super rich and one very poor, who go to the same high school. The poor teen desperately wants to be rich, to control his life. As the story evolves, a Golden Spoon grants his wish to switch parents. In a reality-bend, he abandons his parents in his reality to become the son of the riches Chaebol. In this switch, the (unaware) natural son of the riches chaebol inherits the parents of the economically poor young student. Each boy keeps his personality identity and both are their original self, but they just live in a different reality in this switch. Reality is bent. As you can see, because of this unique storyline, neither teen can be plucked out of this story. (We are not talking about changing out an actor).
“Male First Lead” Confusion
In Golden Spoon, both boys fall for the same girl. She likes only one of the boys, but in this reality-bend, at any given time, both of our teen boys are this boy which she likes. This reality-bend in Golden Spoon leads to a Korean Drama conundrum. The First Male Lead of a story is always the protagonist about which the drama story is written. Because this story is equally about the two boys living in each others’ reality-bend, for me this makes Golden Spoon the first Korean Drama which I have seen that has two Male First Leads or Double Male First Leads and no Second Male Lead.
Fan Alert: The ending is mind-blowing.
Take-Away from the Story
Golden Spoon addresses whether all that is golden is really ideal? Should value be attached to the integrity of your soul? Is money really what makes you happy? Golden Spoon has many aspects of the Korean drama Reborn Rich. It handles the material in unique ways and may be a fresh look at an old theme, “Is the grass greener on the other side?”
Note: Golden Spoon is not a body-swap Korean Drama. Both boys are themselves, but the one with the Golden Spoon retains the knowledge of their former self and their relationships in the other bended reality. Although not knowing the life the other boy lived, each are retrofitted into that life or reality-bend. This makes for a unique prospective view on both of their lives.

Painfully beautiful story
Recently finished watching this drama and I have got so many different feelings about it, but I’d easily say this is the first one that has made me feel such an incredible amount of emotions throughout one show. It’s definitely a roller coaster and it has so many powerful lines and impactful lessons about life and people.The only thing I’d have wished for is what could have been in the end. Although I’d like to say the ending was bittersweet, I just can’t help but feel extremely sad for sungcheon, as much as some of his actions made me mad throughout the show I couldn’t resist feeling bad for him - I feel like he truly did love his family and as greedy as he was, i truly wish he would’ve at least witnessed seeing his family happy in the end - one of the main reasons he started all this. I have so much love for sungjae as an actor and as a singer and may have been more attached to his character because of this, so my feelings on this part of the ending aside, I’d still give it a 10/10;
The drama beautifully portrayed a poetic message about life — that everything comes with a price, yet money is not everything. (the enjoyment of a gorgeous, golden sunset is however free, of course… ☺️)

Why I didn't hear about this before?
Why hasn’t it gained more success? This show was outstanding, prompting me to share my thoughts. The storyline, acting, and even the OST were exceptional. The actors conveyed emotions so vividly that I found myself immersed, experiencing a range from anger to anxiety and sadness. The drama held me from start to finish, a rare feat in my binge-watching history. Now that it’s over, I’m left with a void, wondering what to watch next.Regarding the love interests, I felt torn between the ML and SFL, craving more of their interaction. Yet, the FL and ML displayed a profound, genuine love that went beyond a mere crush.
Can we talk about SFL ? I mean Oh Yu Jin. No, because she giving. 🫢 And the outfit, always on point. I need to see her in more drama pls.
Returning to the main plot, the story was masterfully written, and the episode count felt just right. Every character’s perspective was well understood, though the ending left a bittersweet taste. I understood the repercussions of the golden spoon but I still felt sad for SeungChun. But by the look of Juhee, I can imagine he's going to reconnect with the people who loved him and whom he loved.
This drama is worth recommending to everyone. It’s a gem that deserves more recognition.
Now I am going to watch the TikTok edits, ITW, BTS and stalk the actors.

Freaking good plot with actors !!!
I first started this Rama because of curiosity and obviously main lead and the father character cause they were in same drama pop up mystic bar.I was also happy that the father here is more like evil personality type of character even sungcheon too ...the story was good at start but slow in middle but I also love that last 4 episode where good I love twist they showed in the drama.
one thing is that they did not showed how they switched bodies like taeyong in sungcheon ... sungcheon in taeyong...if they showed it like that it would be better ...i guess they tried not to confuse audience .
"Poverty isn't contagious but Money is "
That line was so good. I was doubtful that time like how did they young's father uses his words so greatly /gracefully.
There really love to cut off character s to build the story I know I knew that someone was going to die but did not expect to ______ father to die.
I realised that even tho sungcheon used his Golden spoon 2 times but Taeyong never used even once. It was good taeyong he got lovely parents family which he deserved. But not his love of life ..
"Everyone has to pay the price"
Woahhh all 3 price were freaking good...like bro i know it was wrong with Yeojin but still everything she did was enough to her her atleast kidnapped her child i am sure he wouldn't kill the child .
I don't really understand what Nara's father doing in house...A as*hole father who tortured his daughter working in her house that doesn't make sense why would you hand him child bro please.
Sungcheon price was also good as he didn't die but atleast forgot everything.
Ahhhhh the cameo .i thought he was just for 5 sec...but played important part in story loved it....^_^
Honestly i had expections at first then no expectations in middle but story ended on good note. 10/10 for me

Honestly banging
Overall an amazing show, very thrilling. Plot twists at every turn had me spitting out my food. Loved that people got what they deserved, and people were held responsible for their actions. The actual theme was a bit confusing though, as despite the conclusion being, everyone looks into the same horizon, I'd sure rather be watching the sunset from a penthouse 💀People who say they don't like the ending don't realise that the MC still had his spoon and probably ate with it and got all his memories back, despite having a new identity as a gardener.

A Good Watch, Despite Some Flaws
Ok I finally finished the series and after finishing the series, I have some thoughts to share. The initial episodes, around 1-6, were definitely great. However, things became messy later on due to the excessive number of golden spoons. Despite this, I found the show entertaining and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. The ending was really satisfying and well-done.Overall, I wouldn't say the show was bad - that would be too harsh. The acting by the entire cast was solid and the soundtrack was excellent. The only downside for me was some of the plotlines. Despite this, I would still recommend giving the show a watch. I'd give it a 7/10, which means it was a good watch in my opinion.

Golden spoon
This is my 4 Korean Tv shows I watched. The story was awesome. Emotional scenes are really sad and made me cry actors were really good at the end I loved when I found sung cheoung is alive but the message of this show is respect yourself and what you are family is the most important things in the world. Money is really good but it's not everything and you can't buy family and happiness with moneySung cheoung wasn't satisfied with his family situation and he saw everything in money but in the end he lost his father and lost his family.

Edited: The series ends as how it should be. The male lead learned it the hard way. The villains karma came and I love how the 2nd male leads growth and his heart which is stronger than the lead. Salute in him choosing what makes him happy and not regaining his luxurious life. Though tempted he made the hard choice and sticked to it. Not everyone can do that.

I like dramas that offer up something original while including some clever twists and turns. Thus, I enjoyed The Golden Spoon a lot. The drama attempts to illustrate how helpless and powerless the poor can feel and the lengths some might go through to claw their way up to become rich and powerful. There was a lot of good acting in this drama but the biggest revelation to me was Lee Jongwon, who played Hwang Taeyoung. He managed not only to switch convincingly between his rich and poor iterations but also made me care about a character who started off as seemingly entitled, shallow and flawed. I think Lee Jongwon stole the show from Yook Sungjae, who is no acting slouch himself.I recognize that the Hwang Hyeondo character was one-dimensional and that his apparent omnipotence was not believable. Plus, as another reviewer also noted, there seemed to be an excess of golden spoons floating around towards the end. But the drama was so much fun that I didn’t really care.

Good Enough
Korean Drama " The Golden Spoon " is a webtoon live action. The series is a character drama, thus, it focuses more on its main leads, rather than the romance, which was okay, but, fortunately, didn't overshadow the main story. Rather, it compliment it and was there to add a few touches of emotional frustration.
On the other hand, the drama weighted the family bonds more, compared to any love story. The family drama was on point and was rightfully enough intense.
However, the drama after the first part, got confusing, as they kept adding golden spoons. Thus, it was hard to keep track on who was who, or whom they used to be.
The performances, in addition, were great by all the actors and actresses in the cast.
So, overall, eight out of ten.

Not all that glitters is gold
I really loved this drama full of twists and turns.Lee Seungcheon is a man of a thousand faces capable of transforming himself several times and fighting strenuously in business, in love and for his life, because even the life of a rich person like Hwang Taeyong's is somewhat problematic.
Even if only at the end with the death of his real father, Seungcheon really understood that what makes you truly free is not wealth but living peacefully, spending time by the sea with the person you love, hoping that one day she will be able to return his love.
A round of applause goes to all the amazing actors and actresses who catapulted us into the imaginary world of the golden spoon.

Golden Spoon Golden Life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The show started out really great for the first few episodes until it starts to go downhill but kind of quickly picked themselves up along the way. I wasn't expecting the last ep to be this twisted but I'm glad it turned out that way. I really like the ending where they talked about hyundo and yeojin part.At some point, the second male lead and main female lead were quite useless when they build up the story all about them. Its a shame but I felt like their characters could play a more important part. But Na In woo's appearance really.... strong and powerful and important to bring the story to a next level. Acting was phenomenal especially by the two dads. Although at the ending, I wish hyundo could act a little more sad.
Overall the OSTs are great and the story is great. I look forward to their future works and I think this drama really gave a whole new level of meaning in life to some people. I like how relatable the story is especially at such a moment in life.
