The one with the dog...

I was warned that this one would be really heavy and they were right. I'm a binge watcher. Give me everything all at once, please and thank you! But this one I had to have some space in between episodes to process. The subject matter is clear based on the synopsis but I could see how some would find this to be a bit of a torture fest.

Story
Each episode is it's own story, with the past of reapers sprinkled in. Episodes 6, 10, and 13 really gutted me. Full on sobbing. While those stories were painful to watch, they needed to be told. Episode 9 was also hard to watch and I'm pretty sure I disassociated for some of it as my dog was on the bed while I watched. The ending was bitter sweet. I was hoping they would have Joon Woong use his 'freebie' with the Jade Emperor to stay with the RM team. They had a few great gateways as in the marketing episode he commented on the plight of working in a traditional job. I will give props to the writers for the way they handled Ryeon and Joong Gil.

Acting/Cast
*Takes Deep Breath* Now I know there is a lot of back and forth over a certain actor but I think this was casted very well. Hee Sun was a badass. She made Ryeon human but also powerful. Soo Hyuk always gives villain vibes which worked out so well in as Joong Gil is the perfect gray character. Do we like him? Do we hate him? That depends on the episode. Rowoon/Joon Woong was the perfect balance that the show needed. He was the over emotional and immature human (he coworkers were over 400 years old.) He offered comedic relief but also true emotion. I'm pretty sure I sobbed even harder when he saluted the guy at the end of episode 6. I can't imagine this work was easy for the cast to complete. These are the stories that weigh heavy on a person and they have to live them (to an extent.)

Music
I enjoyed the intro and epilogue music. Was it memorable? No. But that isn't a bad things as in these case the stories needed to the be the star.

Rewatch Value
I'm torn on this one as the content (again) is heavy. This may be one of those that you can go into select episodes for a quick hit. I can see re watching this with a friend to generate some conversation or see what their thoughts are on these social topics.

Fantasy realism

The premise might be fantasy but the topics taken up were all about the real world. Never seen anything like it before and somehow it kinda restored my faith in why I am such a big fan of Korean dramas. This drama had everything; mystery, fantasy, action, romance, you name it and it will be present in this drama. At parts this drama made me genuinely cry and I had to sit back and take a breather to calm down. But at the same time, the level of satisfaction you get from the fact that there were absolutely no loose ends left in this drama was the best part. It touched so many sensitive topics and made me have some self realisation and a reality check about the gravity of these for the first time in my life, this was probably the most important area of the drama for me which really had loving and binging this series before I knew it.
If I wished for anything more from this drama, it would just be that I wanted more episodes.
This drama left me craving for more!

its different.. in a GOOD way

this was something new for me... first time watching a grim reaper type drama and it actually surprised me in a good way.
the story is really strong... its not just one plot its made up of different stories different lives different struggles… and each one has its effect..
i really liked is how they didnt just show reality they actually acknowledged it like the pain the trauma the things people go through but no one talks about… this drama brings that forward properly.. and even the side characters.. theyre not treated like extras... every story n person feels important making the emotional impact even stronger
the acting was really good across the board. You can feel the emotions without it being overdone.
there arentt heavy plot twists but small turns..like more about emotional depth than shocking moments.. OST and music also fits nicely
ill be honest at one point it felt a bit repetitive like similar types of cases again n again… and I even paused it for a while.. but once I got back into it.. realized it was actually worth continuing... the ending felt slightly rushed yeah… but the final scenes still managed to leave a strong impression
its morelike a mix of trauma healing teamwork a bit of comedy… and a lot of emotion

What would you do with a second chance?

You've been working so hard all your life, but just when you reach out to someone needing help, everything comes to an end. Lost and hopeless, you get a second chance to prove your value by learning how much life is worth living.
When I saw in the cast list the lovely Rowoon and immidiately thought fo my precious Haru (character from Extraordinary You), and watching the trailer I bielieved it would have been a funny kdrama, something not so deep and thoughtful. Well, I was wrong.
This drama keeps you up with a smile just to throw the rought reality in front of your face as hard as it can. The backstories and the link between the main characters, but also the stories of the people they have to help make you simpathize with them.

A Powerful Reminder That Life Is Always Worth Living

Life is one of the most valuable gifts we are given, and this drama delivers that message in a deeply moving and meaningful way. It reminds us that life should never be taken lightly or sacrificed because of someone else or even because of our own struggles. No matter how difficult things become, life itself is precious and worth protecting.
Each episode of this drama highlights the importance of valuing one’s life. It strongly conveys that choosing suicide due to any reason is wrong. While pain, hardship, and emotional struggles can push people toward dark thoughts, the drama emphasizes an important truth: in the end, only you have the power to save yourself. No one else can do it for you. Putting your life at risk because of circumstances or other people is never the right choice.
The show explains this message in a very deep and impactful manner. As a viewer, you constantly feel how precious life truly is. The storytelling is so engaging that there wasn’t a single episode I felt the need to skip. Even though the episodes are nearly an hour long, they never feel stretched or boring. From the beginning to the end — not just of individual episodes, but of the entire show — it keeps you completely hooked.
What makes the drama even better is how well it balances its heavy theme with warmth and emotion. The small moments of comedy, the strong friendships, the mutual understanding between characters, and the genuine care they show for one another add depth and realism to the story. These elements make the message feel natural rather than forced.
Overall, this drama is truly very good. It is not just entertaining but also meaningful, thought-provoking, and emotionally impactful. It leaves you with a deeper appreciation for life and reminds you why it should never be taken for granted.

Surely one of the best dramas of 2022!

This drama shows a different side of Grim Reapers and that is what got me hooked. When I started it, I literally had no idea what I was getting myself into and honestly I'm so glad I watched it. Every episode had a story to tell and an issue which was dealt with, wonderfully. This isn't like our regular dramas and that is what makes it special. Almost every episode had me bawling in a corner and I don't regret it one bit.
The cast... So well done!!! Rowoon literally nailed his role and I don't think could've pulled it off that well. This was my first time seeing Kim Hee Seon and Yoon Ji On and they were brilliant! Also whoever came up with the idea of casting Lee Soo Hyuk needs to be applauded!! The man may have had only a few minutes of screentime in some episodes but he owned every single of them...
Like I mentioned earlier, this is a drama that's one of its kind. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I put it on hold for a few days because of my exams. If you're not sure, watch the first episode and that should pretty much get you interested.

Happy Viewing! :)

Note: The main topic and some others that they dealt with, may be triggering for some viewers so proceed with caution in case you wanna watch the drama.

The best drama in this whole world

Out of all the 150 ish kdramas I have watched , this drama is still my favourite one. It is just so beautiful. It shows how much effect few kind words , a small action has on a person's life. It shows how much people go through in real life and the sun will come out after a stormy day. You can't hate anyone in this drama, you will FEEL for the main characters as well as the side ones. Stories of real people with real problems. No drama apart from youth of may has made me cry this much,If I could I would give all the stars in the world to this drama and it's characters.

Tomorrow is fantastic!

This show is a roller coaster ride of emotion! Acting A+, story A++, so much to love! Last episode had me on the edge of my seat! LoveLoveLove!!! Each episode was a gift of a wonderful story and the unfolding of the grim reapers stories. When I say I spent the last episode yelling at the tv I am not joking and the ending was so much better than even I was expecting! Fighting! Each week brought me to tears, especially the war vet and the dog. Then you have the reapers back story that was totally u expected and made you love each of the main characters just that much more.

10000/10! ?

i usually don't write reviews about kdramas that i've finished watching, but this one is an exception; it has a unique storyline that holds a very deep and relevant meaning. i usually watch rom-com kdramas, but this one doesn't really have heavy romance in it, though i kept watching because of the lessons in each episode (which is one of the things that makes this kdrama are very good one to watch). i like how the kdrama mostly reveals the past and the after-lives of each person centered in that specific episode because it makes you understand their character and why they are what they are in that given moment. the ending was a bit disappointing but i saw it coming. overall, i enjoyed it, it got me hooked every weekend from the moment this series aired on netflix, i really recommend this!

Must Watch

One of the best drama of this year. I appreciate the message they want to convey through the stories they showed. Each and every story holds special meaning. I got emotional in almost every episodes.
All the actors did Superb job. They did justice to their characters. Their past stories were so painful yet worth watching. I really liked Kim hee sun's role, her work is absolutely admirable. I love how Lee so hyuk's attitude changed towards those who commits Suicide.
Worth watching drama, loved it. Kudos to all those who've worked hard in this show. Everyone did a great work.
It's so sad that this Kdrama has all those bad ratings just because of some toxic fans. I'm an Army too but it hurts watching this stupidity. To all those people PLEASE GROW UP!!! You're making us look really bad.

I really hope people learns good things from this drama.

Heart tugging Kdrama

Woah... This kdrama just...Wow.
Amazing acting and a really good plot. Usually plots like these are really hard to execute well but this is really well done. A good balance between humor and being serious. Talking about suicide is never easy let alone showing strong emotions like that on TV,,, The cast did such a well job. It can be a hard watch if you struggle with those thoughts yourself but as someone who struggles as well, this really did change my perspective on some things. BTW this will make you cry every episode....

Red Light is a great song! (wanted to complain a bit about the lack of discussion around therapy)

So first, as I finished watching the drama (binged in two days lol), I immediately looked up the OST and saved Red Light into my playlist. I still have no clue who J.DON is, but I loved his voice and the upbeat rap song that he wrote! Red Light is now on my faves playlist and it'll probs be there for a while.

Another thing, the drama was pretty good - there were great performances by the lead characters and the plot lines were great - but I was left confused after every episode why it was portrayed like a person struggling mental health is something that can be solved by one conversation. I personally wish they spoke more about getting continuous help and lowering the stigma around therapy, but because I am not from Korea, I don't know what the current culture around therapy is and if it is even accessible to those who are not well-off.
