2nd Realistic Drama for me

seriously, before 2022 ended, i was planning to watch this drama, but many assignment was waiting for me!!🥹🥹

And... finally!! in february 2023, i recently watched it!!

I don't expected too much because i already saw many videos in TikTok

Tadaaa!! This drama is really incredibleee for me!!

I feel mixed feelings in every episodes, especially episodes 1, and the plot was aaaaaaaa

Really touching💞 and in every episodes has many stories which related in real life

for acting, i shouldn't doubt with (main character) Kim Hee Sun, Lee SooHyuk, Rowoon and Yoon Ji On (i recently know Yoon Ji On and woaahh his acting 👌) hehe

for soundtrack, honestly i didn't really listen so i have no comment

for story, although there many stories touched my heart,
(i don't know if this is spoiler or not)

in last episode, hmm some scene not realistic for solved the problem, but yeah, i think it doesn't really matter for the plot story, so it's okay

So overall for me 9,5/10

*note: sorry my english not really good*

There's no Tomorrow. It was all for Today

One of my favorite series.

I started watching it because I kept seeing the preview on Netflix and after a few minutes I fell in love with it. I devoured every episode and couldn't wait to see the next one.

The theme of death, grim reaper and the afterlife is difficult to deal with without ending up in banality or something that doesn't make the slightest sense. This series managed to treat that perfectly, treated suicide seriously and led to reflection.
The actors did a great job, managing to impersonate even the most complicated and controversial characters.

I wish I could forget it totally to be able to look at every episode and be amazed and moved every time.

Heart-warming and heart-wrenching

Tomorrow maybe not be a perfect drama but every story told an important theme and is relevant today. It really demonstrates the reality of life. It shows the importance of life and that each person carries a story.

The cast also including our cameo’s every week did a phenomenal job, however I do wish LSH had more screen time. This drama was an emotional rollercoaster that had a solid premise with the OST and cinematography to match. The let down for me was the balance between the ‘case of the week’ plot and the overarching reaper/Jumadeung plot line. This drama would’ve been a hundred times better if it were mostly about Jumadeung politics/world-building and Ryeon and Joong-gil’s past.

Specifically, the way that RY and JG’s story was wrapped up - whilst I can appreciate the decision to not have them get together again in line with the severed threads theme, I just wish we’d been given more time to see JG regain his memories of the past and see the two of them properly get closure from one another. Ryeon and Joon-gil's story was the best part of the drama. It feels like the writers failed to make use of the amazing chemistry between KSH and LSH and its a shame that we only had two episodes devoted to them. Their story was beautiful and very tragic but meaningful with them using it to help people.

Everyone was connected to suicide and its consequences in their life. With the message of the drama, we see Ryeon had to come to peace with her own past, pains, and choices, like all of the survivors we have learned about thus far. Words can't describe the emotions we all felt while watching this series. The pain, the fear, the anger, the happiness, and the sadness when this drama ended. This drama gives more reasons to be aware of other people's feelings, but also our own. I'm glad I watched this drama

Tomorrow was an emotional rollercoaster that I am glad that I got on. It was from the very beginning, full of lore and story to unpack and instantly had me hooked. According to statistics, Korea is the leader in suicide rates and this group of Grim Reaper's help to bring that down. Dealing with heavy topics such as sa, bullying, miscarriage, etc.. it can be draining, but rewarding to watch.

-- Spoilers Below --

Goo Ryun is one of the most bad-ass female front leads I have ever seen in a drama. The way her character is written and her backstory adds such a layer of depth and Kim Hee Sun did an amazing job putting that all on display. Her pink hair and eyeshadow sticks out and her attitude is cold, but she cares deeply and loves saving others from the Hell that she went through.. literally. When it finally came to figuring out her entire backstory, I felt for her on another level than I already did. Her committing suicide, feeling like she had no other way to end her suffering, helped so much with how she saw and dealt with the people she was trying to save. I wish that her and Park Joong-Gil had gotten together in some sense again, but it felt good with the story as to how they left it since their fate had been severed when she died.

Choi Joon-Woong was an amazing character and I loved how deep he felt his feelings and let them show. He wasn't afraid to stand up for what he thought was wrong and right, and was never hesitant to help someone in need. Although he is only in the group temporary until his life is over, I wanted him to stay there forever sadly. I know he wanted to go back to his mom and live out the rest of his life, but being with Goo Ryun and Ryung-Gu he seemed to be so happy. I feel that although he is one of the main characters, the story doesn't follow his mysteries as much as it does the other reapers and their backstory. They just use him to tell and put together the puzzle of what happened hundred of years ago for them to get there. I did love how they threw in that he himself also had lived past lives and was intertwined with both Goo Ryun and Park Joong-Gil.

Lim Ryung-Gu had to of been my favorite character besides Goo Ryun. His backstory was incredibly heartbreaking and had me sobbing the entire time. His desire to see his mom and lead her safely and happily through her lives was so incredibly sweet. I wish that he could have been a little more prominent in the first few episodes, but after his backstory he pops up a lot more. Him finally getting to tell his mom and reunite with her and apologize was heartwarming and I was so glad that after many decades he was able to get the closure that he needed to end his pain. I loved his attitude that he had for the victims, and would do anything to make sure they were safe. He takes matters into his own hands, but always looks out for his friends and coworkers like they are family. I love how close he was with Joon-Woong and Goo Ryun. Her leading him to his end and to eventually work under her definitely added to their already close bond.

I had such a hard time liking Park Joong-Gil and then I started to like him right at the last 2 episodes. He is the collector of souls.. a very cold man that hardly shows any feelings other than distrust, disgust and disdain for anything and everything that gets in his way. I had hoped that they would get to his backstory and why he felt so drawn to Goo Ryun sooner, but it ties all up at the end of the show. He has been battling nightmares.. one that has Goo Ryun in it, but through constant miscommunication between the two of them and Goo Ryun making a deal to keep it a secret from him it ends in a mess that could've been awful. He has resentment for people that take their own life, and takes this out on Goo Ryun. Forcing her to watch a car run over the woman she is trying to prevent from taking her life. While she gets her revenge and he gets her almost sent back to Hell, Joon-Woong tells him to look for himself. He eventually figures out him and Goo Ryun were married and lovers, but when she took her life it wounded his soul so badly that he was still not over it 2 reincarnations later. He helps her to save the woman and they eventually forgive each other and end it on that he finally understands the importance of their team.

Breathtaking, emotional and beautiful

Tomorrow

There is fantasy, actions, drama, romance, happy and sad scenes ( a lot of sad scenes so be ready for crying) - just full package. Cast did really well. The concept is interesting, every episode is about different story - if I remember correctly it is sometimes like half story for one episode and other half for next. Some of this stories could easily be their own drama ( maybe not as long but for short ones perfect). It contains a lot of meaningfull topics so I recommed to watch it.

There is light at the end of the tunnel

“Tomorrow ” has been in my watchlist since 2022 and I finally mustered up courage to watch it. Even thou it still wasn’t enough as the show relies on some heavily sensitive content that I was not expecting at all. If you want to watch Tomorrow, you should be mentally prepared for the trauma. Although i keep watching to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even thou healing isn’t that quick or easy but every story did exhibit some hope, hidden lesson which made it worth it at the end. Once you get into the show,it’s hard to stop because you want to see what happens next, whose story will it be now.
The fried chicken episode and the last three episodes were my favourite because we finally get to see Mr. park and Ms Koo’s story. I was waiting for their story since the beginning of the show. And it was a longgg wait but worth it..
The show had the similar vibe to hotel deluna but I’ll prefer rewatching hotel de luna than tomorrow because this show is too intense. Not for everyone.
I would’ve liked if Rowoon had a love interest or some grim reaper girl crush, it would’ve been fun to watch and that could’ve lighten up the show a bit. But it was good overall.

Incredible Premise; Cosmically Boring.

For a show that laid its foundation on the topic of suicide, the show dived quite…shallowly into it. I know it's not a psychological drama, so I didn’t expect it to explore the psychology of the person trying to kill themself but still I would have appreciated it still considering the show is literally all about that moment of indecision. It showed the whys of how each character ended up in those situations and the reapers—with effort—talked them out of it. That was sort of it.

It is a heavy topic; and to explore it without the show becoming too dark is difficult, so I am not disappointed about that. I just felt it should have been explored in a little bit more detail.

The show did a good job showcasing how words can transform people, but it quickly moved on from dialogue to action. And talking about action, I wish they just didn’t do it—I don’t think the show really needed the action sequences when they were not long enough to be worthwhile nor executed well enough to be satisfactory. Instead I would have appreciated it more if they explored their powers more, they can literally stop time, so instead of pow pows I wanted more superpower battles. Maybe it was a lack of budget or maybe the writers didn’t want to explore it, I don’t know, regardless, they did good whatever they were trying to do, albeit it was all subpar.

The dialogues shared the same energy as the action, they were unflattering but moreover utterly lackluster. At times whole exchanges felt like they bore no life, and that's on the writers, because they did write good scenes so why did their dialogues fall short is perplexing. Apart from the dialogues some of the character reactions were also a bit confusing. I think they should have had the actors talk their lines rather than perform it.

If i had to specify a scene that felt over the top then the one about the war veteran would be it. I completely understand the sentiment, veterans do deserve the best because they fought to protect their country but, how they did it felt a bit excessive. It was a moment of immense respect—and it begets the question, do they do it for all veterans?

On the other hand, what was executed quite lovely was the sequence with the comfort women. The Japanese were sort of comical villains but I totally get it—I too am from a former colony and we portray the Brits like that too. Koo Ryeon's past was also executed well.

There were a lot more that I noticed but I forgot them all lol.
Something I really liked was the fashion.

I am unfamiliar with the source material so maybe the writers followed or tried to follow it to the dot and came short. It's still a great show, just could have been way better.

Anyways, that's it. Ciao.

A heavy topic delivered wonderfully

I really liked this show.
It deals with some heavy stuff—suicide, depression, guilt—and honestly, that kind of story can go very wrong if it’s not handled properly. But Tomorrow actually does a great job with it.
The plot kept me interested the whole way through. Each episode has its own story, but it also builds on the bigger picture. The twists are nice, and it never feels like it’s dragging or just adding filler.
The characters are one of the best parts. They feel real, and each one carry their own story and has their own way of dealing with things. The main team has great chemistry, and it’s fun watching their different personalities bounce off each other. You can tell the actors were fully into their roles.
Action scenes are well done—nothing too over-the-top, but enough to keep things exciting when needed. They don’t overuse them, which is good, because this show’s strength is in its emotional moments.
What really stood out to me is how the show talks about pain and loss without being depressing for the sake of it. It shows how hard life can get, but it also reminds you that people can keep going, and that sometimes just being there for someone makes a difference.
It’s not a perfect show, but it hits way more than it misses. If you’re into fantasy with heart and a message, definitely give it a shot.

Each episodes worth to watch and ended nicely

I've just have finished all of the episodes recently. Not gonna lie,I cry all the time in every episodes. It's really emotional if you imersed yourself in it,I really loved how Rowoon carry his role as Choi Jun Woong the most. He's really adorable! Not to mentioned Gu Ryeon and Mr Lim,they always being cold-hearted to him all the times but as the episodes when by,they're warmed up to him. I really love chemistry between Mr Park and Gu Ryeon as well, eventhough it didn't shows much but stories about their past making me shed tears. Eventhough they're having hard times as Grim Reapers, they didn't failed to show affection to each others in the end. I think it wasn't quite exceed expectations by most viewers that it should be more affectionate, but for me this is enough. Since this kdrama genre is isn't romance(please corrected me if im wrong). Every Grim Reapers in the RM department has dark pasts except for Jun Woong since he's been there for 6 months by accident. But his presence in the team has been lightening up the moods,in many ways. I definitely reccomend this Kdrama to my friends and families eventhough it's often mentioned of suicides and other criminal scenes and stuffs. For me,this drama is the best one I've watched in 2022. I'm not gonna lie since it's exceeded my expectations,I would rewatched it since some episodes is really hilarious that didn't fails to make me laugh. And of course, everyone's(viewers) have different opinions and perspectives/tastes and might won't agree 100% with what I say,but I really do hope that no one would rate it less than 5 stars since, this drama is really not that bad. The casts potrays each characters given so well, for me,this kdrama is a masterpiece that deserves more recognitions. (Please do excuse if there's any errors in my review since English is not my first language). Definitely worth to airs season 2 because why not??it's really entertaining.

"I don’t want tomorrow to come."

EVERYONE THAT FATE BRINGS TOGETHER MUST PART AT LEAST ONCE, WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. — Koo Ryeon

Frankly I don't have anything to say regarding objective facts(statistics, data, quotes, etc.) about the kdrama. All I want to say is, this was a startlingly good kdrama.

My review is going to be heavily biased, as I really, really unashamedly love this kdrama with all my heart. So if you're expecting a relatively "objective" review with pros and cons, this isn't the review for you (actually, majority of my reviews aren't).

The series follows protagonists Jun-Woong, Ryon, and Ryung Goo as they traverse difficult and emotionally tense situations trying to save people from the brink of death under the crisis management team, "RM". RM is a temporary branch of Jumaedung, essentially this drama's version of South Korea's afterlife. I specifically point out South Korea because at some point in one of the episodes, it's possibly implied there's different afterlives depending on the country. I *think.*

Additionally, the trio deal with their own struggles with their pasts and presents. Jun-Woong is a likeable protagonist, written to mean well while at the same time still being as sensitive to issues as he can even if he doesn't have the experience or capability to fully understand and/or empathise. Ryon and Ryung Goo grow on you after 1 or 2 episodes with them. Especially when you find out why they're doing the job that they do...

I've struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation often in the past, and still do now. Every now and then there are those thoughts that haunt me and there's always the fear that one day I'll give in and, well, you know. But Tomorrow has provided me a drastically different lens to view my situation in. Not just about suicide, but about living and choosing how I live, too.

All these stories were poignant and wonderful, every episode made me tear up even if that wasn't the intention. Each episode is meaningful and there's always a takeaway from them no matter how small or subtle. Episodes 6 and 7(the latter being my absolute favourite) were the ones that stood out the most for me, everything from story to soundtrack and premise of it. Episode 2 comes in close as well.

For the sake of transparency, I will admit that Ep7 and 2 deal with issues that I myself have dealt with personally in my life, and the consequences of such mirror mine in some way. These fictional depictions of traumas are traumas that I myself can relate to.

Ep7's Bo Ram and her confidence was empowering. Ye-Na's backstory was emotional and beautifully poignant. I particularly liked the sequence at the end Ye-Na has in her mind, it was fantastically done even with no words.

I hardly grow attached to many kdrama characters, but after spending so many episodes with these three(and sometimes other Jumaedung staff) have made so much of an impact on me after seeing how they work and make decisions. The ideas this kdrama puts forth and the wonderful quotes that spawn from it are beautiful and very much worth witnessing.

This kdrama came at a time where despite faring better mentally and emotionally than past years, I was still very vulnerable and uncertain. As I've mentioned, there are times where I have felt suicidal and in those moments I desperately wish to hear certain things. My experiences don't account for every single person with similar struggles out there, and I don't claim they do, but this kdrama helped me personally. It reminded me of concepts, ideas, things I can keep in mind in the future and even now. The dialogue and thinking these characters have, like Joong Gil(the stoic reaper you'll see pretty soon), are realistic enough to be believable. I've heard, seen, and with some phrases even echoed, these sorts of thoughts and words. I've given, and I've been on the receiving end. Dealing with the suicidal often requires tact and caution, and despite how abrasive Ryon can be initially, it's surprisingly believable how the people they're helping react.

To conclude, I wasn't kidding when I said I really liked this kdrama. One of my top favourites in recent memory *for sure*, and it's probably staying that way for a long, long time. I'm glad I didn't drop this when I wanted to, and finished it when I did. Worth a watch, and worth a rewatch too. If you're into social issues in S.Korea being depicted and grappled with in a kdrama, and can stomach suicide, you might enjoy this like I did.
