Our Blues

Similarities: Community living and mundane, rural life aspects + Main characters with sad pasts / Storytelling heavily relying on flashbacks. Both shows are also not afraid of getting dark at times alongside their relatively lighthearted undertone.

Differences: The Good Bad Mother is focused more on a specific set of characters with a continuous story, while Our Blues had a proper ensemble cast with each story arc being 1-2 episodes long.

The stories and styles are not the same, but I feel like if you like Our Blues, you may also like Go Ahead. Both address the complex emotional baggage that comes with family or lack of.

Go Ahead focuses more on the romance though and there are clear leads, but both are well done family dramas.

- the vibe are somewhat similar as it brings that comfort feeling
- romance between the leads and the side characters

- female lead is a diver (top star yoo baek) ; han ji min's character is also a diver
- a cold hearted male lead paired up with a bright/warm hearted female lead

- The plot is not similar but it gives the countryside vibes

Both are about family and life's hardships. The sacrifices families have to make to survive in this world.

Both are anthologies. Both have characters and plots and overlap. Both are heartfelt and bittersweet.

Both dramas focus on each character's individual lives, portraying their struggles and emotions beautifully. In the way in which the characters of Reply 1988 live together, rely on each other and cry together; the characters of our blues reside on Jeju island and their various occupations are intertwined. I'll go as far as to say the occupations depend on each other.

For the folksy vibe. Like Our Blues, both focus initially on the negative points of living in a rural village e.g. everyone is in everyone else's business but they later band together to help each other.
